However, Ample Hills was recommended to me by a coworker who used to frequent it when she lived in the Prospect Park area of Brooklyn. We were very happy we stopped there! I can recommend the Butter Pecan Brittle & a marshmallow flavor (the name escapes me!) & you're going to want at least the large size! In the past 4 weeks or so I've been back to Ample Hills about 3 times. AND IM FROM STATEN ISLAND. I've told so many people this since I've been here, even after my first visit, "this place makes me not want to say regular ice cream ever again". And it's true! I mean have you tasted the salted crack caramel? They warn you before you order it "have you had it before?" Because man this is grown up ice cream. The flavor is so rich and deep, almost has a burnt sugar taste to it. Just amazing. The munchies is great if you're looking for a sweet and salty twist. Unfortunately when I went there the first time the famed salted crack caramel was sold out. So we "settled" for Mexican hot chocolate and strawberry. The ice cream wasn't as sweet and heavy as I had feared from reading other reviews. The strawberry tastes natural with just the right amount of sweetness and tartness. I thought it was just decent but my wife really liked it. The Mexican hot chocolate though, was something special in my book. The smooth, delicate flavor of dark chocolate is mixed with CHILI! Who puts chili in ice cream anyways? Whoever came up with this should really get a price! And Ample Hill, for its execution of a perfect bland of sweetness saltiness and spiciness gets a five star from me. Looking forward to next trip for the legendary salted crack caramel. read more

Loved the vibes at this place, they had hip hop playing in the background and the interior was country cute! We visited around 11pm on a Friday night, lots of people were around but not enough to make it overcrowded. They had quite a few flavors and we couldn't commit to one, we decided to get the sampler which had 6 different flavors to taste. The ooey gooey butter cake stole the show, it was foodgasm good!! All of the ice cream flavors that we tried were rich and creamy! The one grievance I have is the container for the 6 flavor sample. It looked like an egg container which went really well with the country vibe, however it didn't hold the ice cream very well. Nothing bad can be said about Ample...It's a top 3 ice cream spot in the city!!! Right in line with Morgansterns and Oddfellows. Unlike those two Ample's vibe is a lot more homey. The ice cream was melted and sickly sweet. We got Snap-mallow-pop, The Commodore, The Raw Deal, Cotton Candy, Sweet as Honey, and Pistachio. (6/13/20) i literally cant believe that i havent tried ample hills until this summer! on the day that i went i had to wait on a decently long line and they only allowed a few customers in at once. they had a menu posted outside of the flavors they were offering that day so that the customers could decide what they wanted beforehand. i paid (in card ) for three scoops, which came out to be around $9, honestly i definitely think it was worth it because they didnt skimp at all on the size of the scoops. im so sad to hear that the owners are no longer going to be the ones running the business, because i dont know if things will be the same without them :( - cotton candy: kinda lacking in my opinion, since ive had better cotton candy ice cream from other places. - ooey gooey butter cake: so good! it was definitely my favorite so i would recommend that flavor for sure. the chunks of cake combined with the vanilla ice cream really made this one of the best ice cream flavors ive ever tried. : the munchies flavor: amazing as well! the different textures from the pretzels, crackers, chips, and m&ms combined with the pretzel flavored ice cream really made this flavor stand out! read more

Every friend, family member or date I bring to this place instantly loves it. My favorites is the Nonna D's Oatmeal Lace, Raw Deal, Butter Pecan Brittle and Oh Fudge (coconut milk based for vegans). Last night though, I had a special seasonal flavor - coffee ice cream with pumpkin cookie dough pieces and fudge on top. The pojnt? I had the Snap Mallow Pop and the Strawberry and Creme while my boyfriend had the Honey Comb Sweet Cream and the Pistachio. The ice cream is extremely rich flavor while having an airy texture.
