I was in dire need of a manicure and pedicure. So I stopped into Amy's on a Friday afternoon. It was a good experience and my gel pedicure was great. But my manicure was not so great. I usually get an overlay because I'm growing out my nails but the young lady who did my nails suggested I get dip powder. I showed her a picture of the look i was going for and she said she could do it. I loved my nails but it was poor craftsmanship. By Sunday my no chip was chipping. I'm still deciding if I will try this place again. I enjoyed the massage from the lady that did my pedicure. It lasted quite some time, but I don't know if that's normal or if she was making up for cutting my toe. She was pretty aggressive and almost careless with the cheese grater tool they use to take callouses off your feet and ended up tearing up my big toe and making it bleed. As for my nails, they told me dip would be better than gel, but I don't think so. It also wasn't even close to a manicure. No soaking, no lotion, no cuticle oil even. The sizes of my French style lines are uneven and I have a knick on my thumb too. Bit of a messy finish. All of this for $71 before tip. **also they only tip in cash. read more

When I first moved to New Orleans, Amy's was my first go to nail salon. I hadn't explored the city to find where the real gems were. So I would rate Amy's as an okay spot. The polish selection is tired and dull, the pedicure chairs are crammed in the back with like 6-7 of em next to each other, there's no privacy, so if you have ugly feet and are ashamed, the lady (or man) next to you will have a nice view, sorry :( The price for mani/pedi is like $27. Which is pretty normal, but it's a real basic job. Oddly, this place stays pretty busy, so either people love what they're getting or they don't know where to go. My nails were cleaned up well, however the polish job, attitudes of the workers & price of this place is terrible. They openly talk about you in different languages. My toes were polished before sandals, messing up my big toe & she didn't fix it right. My hands are being done at the same time, poorly polished. I am polished without paying the bill. How am I suppose to dig into my bag? Nobody even offered to grab my bag and help me. when I finally go to pay, she's hovering over my wallet, openly creeping what money I have, how tacky. $38 for a basic mani & pedi, with thinned out polishes (just look at them) , nightstands as the side tables & generally not a place that should charge that. I've gotten non toxic gel mani pedis in upscale NYC salons for a little over that price. ** I did call& ask pricing, they said 28. Came here because I received a gift certificate from a friend and didn't want it to go to waste. I was attended to very quickly and did not have to wait to be seated. However, my nail tech completely disregarded my preferences for shape and style of my nails. I asked for gel and she refused and used dip instead. My nails look very thick and unnatural. I am unhappy with the way they came out and will not be returning to this salon. I am currently trying to figure out a way to make them look better without having to spend even more money. read more

Gotta show some love for Amy. On my last visit I walked in to a full packed salon. Ughh! Good thing is I'm old school. I get acrylic nails which usually Amy does personally. Well, I only waited about 10 minutes bc of this. Yay for moi! I'm a procrastinator. I'll go a little longer then I should to get a refill. Regardless who does my nails, they are always perfection when I leave. If you go in the evening they do a Happy Hour! Being pampared while enjoying a cocktail is the best. A while back Amy's hubby had mentioned that they had purchased the vacant lot across the street. They are eventually going to expand over there... I think they might want to get on that. I went in for a manicure pedicure on a recommendation from my neighbor. But the whole time I felt rushed, the lady was rough with cleaning under nails and my cuticles, and barely did the foot scrub. I said I only wanted two coats on my nails but the lady insisted on three. They didn't offer the nail drying area and when I left I already had four nails whose polish was ruined. I asked if they could fix it and she threw yet another coat on (only on one finger) which I was not okay with. So she haphazardly slapped two coats on (not even the whole nail) and a top coat. Also, there is still polish on my fingers. I get my nails done maybe twice a year as a special treat and I will never return here. It stinks to treat yourself and leave feeling stressed and duped by bad service. I'm giving two stars because my toes look good but once again there was not anything luxurious about it. I was rushed the whole time. The lady forgot to give me the soaker bowl for my hands and when she wanted to start on my hands I asked from the bowl and then went to the next customer and completely ignored me. Told the manicurist I wanted clear powder dip- I got this fake pink color She asked if I liked it- I told her no, I want clear Pointed out 2 color spots on the nail bed- she tried to buff them out and said they were in the dip canister when she dipped my nail. Oh well, it happens was the manicurist's disposition. The whole attitude here at this salon is that they know better than you, the customer. There are lots of nail salons uptown. They are my second pick of nail salons behind Lilly's on Magazine Street. Amy's is awesome and my 2nd go to shop in the city because they are open on SUNDAYS!!!! How awesome!? There are 8 pedicure chairs with about 6 or 7 nail techs I was the 8th patron to enter, so I had to wait a bit for my pedicure to start. However I didn't mind because the massage chair was life changing! I have honestly NEVER had a chair massage like that! The salon is very well lit, with big screen Tvs and happy hour wine and beverages. Another bonus of Amy's is that their polish selection is rather extensive and they always have a new collection by either China Glaze, OPI, or Essie at least seasonally. The only downfalls of my first trip there was that when I got my pedicure, my big toe was cut crooked compared to the others; there's a moderate language barrier; and the "cashier" hounds you to tip your tech(s). Facial waxing is also top notch here! Many of my waxes have come exclusively from Amy but on the las few occasions, other techs have done the waxes and they were still good! read more

I just walked out. I wanted to get a manicure and the lady had no clue what she was doing... Did nothing to my cuticles and then when it came time to paint my nails she did a horrible job. I pointed out the areas that she missed on my nails and she still had a hard time seeing what I was talking about. She got nail polish on my cuticles and once again I had to point it out for her to clean it. Then, I got my eyebrows waxed and was rushed to so this so my nails weren't all the way dry. During the wax the girl squirted baby oil all over my neck and my expensive work shirt.... Minimal apologies and when I spoke to the manager about this she said she can't clean my shirt for me and refused to give me any sort of discount or acknowledge that they messed up my shirt. On top of this... I somehow ended up with wax on my eyelashes. I found him very attentive and polite, as well as the rest of the staff (and there's a lot of them!) Amy's is a very nice little salon, which I have often go to when 1. Star Nail is overrun, or 2., when Star Nail does something to annoy me. I find Amy to be a little pricier and a little crappier than Star is. Amy won't spend THAT much time on massage and scrub, but she gets that job done. Also, it seems that many of the extras are al a carte, extra costing. Now, I won't sully a good pedicure experience with price taggery, but I like my all inclusives. After a hard week, Amy's is like therapy. Very affordable therapy btdubs - only $38 for a mani + pedi. I love this place so so so so much. I basically walk in, get seated in a big roomy massage chair, am served a glass of wine and proceed to the most relaxing mani-pedi ever. All of the people who work there are so nice but my favorite is Nancy - she's super thorough and precise and if you want to chat she chats but otherwise she just lets you drift off into your zone, which is what I like to do. read more

I've been here many times in the the last few years. It's been a while since I got my nails done, so I did today- this is where I know to go. I'm not sure what was wrong with the lady doing my nails, but two of the other ladies kept checking on her, they both assisted her in doing my nails.. showing her how to fix her mistakes and such... I uncomfortably had to speak up to my nail technician and tell her I was unhappy with them before she even finished the acrylic. Later when they were painted... crooked, with acrylic dried all over my skin.. the paint all over my skin too- even though I was already done in her eyes.. one of the other ladies asked if I liked them and I shook my head no... and she said okay thank you Have a great day! I have never had a bad experience at Amy's Nails. The staff here is top notch: efficient, thorough, and friendly. I've been going to this place for several years now after a recommendation from a friend and I always leave happy and relaxed. Usually when I go there is never a wait (typically during the weekdays and in the mornings) but on a couple occasions they have been busy but have helped me within 10 minutes. I have only ever gotten manicures and pedicures here, although they do offer other services. They also serve drinks! The salon is not huge, but there is about 8 pedicure chairs (massage chairs that are awesome!) and they have about 5 or so manicure chairs. The ambiance is great, they usually have relaxing spa music playing and plenty of magazines to read. I've been serviced by several of the technicians and they are all super friendly. What I especially love about getting a pedicure here is they spend about 10 minutes fully massaging each foot and leg. I've been to other nail salons that really try to get you in and out and don't spend a lot of time pampering their clients. Amy's Nails really does spend just the right amount of time. I never feel rushed when I go there. This salon also has inexpensive prices. For a mani/pedi is cost just $36. I feel like I get the same experience here as I do at any other high end spa and its half the price. I highly recommend Amy's Nails! read more

I used to love Amy's, but I find that it has fallen off a bit in quality over the last couple of years. Pros: Amy herself is often there and is great with eyebrows. Truly, they always look fantastic. They also do a mani-pedi happy hour where you are treated to a glass of wine, which, let's face it, goes a long way. Cons: Parking can be a bit of a hassle. I hate waddling across gravel and a heavily trafficked street with my fresh pedicure. Also, I find that since Amy's has become more popular, the waits are longer and my mani/pedi seems rushed. Amy's has the same problem many nail salons do re: being overly optimistic in quoting your wait time. I've seen people get up and leave on multiple occasions after waiting too long for a seat. In sum: Not the best, not the worst. I go to Amy's in a pinch when I don't have time to make it to my favorite shop (Cindy's). read more
