The Lux Spa Pedicure is worth every penny - Nyla is fantastic and really helped me relax and enjoy the experience. And my feet are still so soft over 2 weeks later. Maggie does my hands and I LOVE THEM. I have found my holy grail nail artist! They are so talented and precise and really care about what they are putting on your nails. After moving to New Orleans I have been trying to find someone who does Russian manicures. I have had several appointments with nail techs who seem to believe if they file around the bottom of your finger enough times they're doing it right. They are not. It got so bad that I took my question to Reddit, which is how I ended up booking at this place, which sadly was no different. When I sat down (twenty minutes late) I was informed by the nail tech that she does Russian manicures, but doesn't cut with a scissor. Immediate red flag but I had already paid in full and needed the disaster set I walked in with removed. This person then proceeded to not follow any of the steps of a Russian manicure. No orangewood stick. No flame bit to lift the dead skin. A jagged cut around the cuticle with oil added to hide it. Abrasions where my live skin was filed with the ball bit. I was then informed that I would need to pay an additional $60 for the hard gel application. To be fair, it was applied nicely and the shaping was great. It just wasn't a Russian manicure. If it had been billed as a hard gel manicure and left at that it would have been fine. The gaslighting at the end - I was told I should book hard gel fills moving forward because I don't "need" a Russian manicure - was the icing atop a very shitty cake. If you don't know what you're looking for, this is the place for you. The vibe and aesthetic of the salon is nice. If you're looking for an actual Russian manicure, keep looking. read more

I really enjoyed my service at Lab & Lounge. My friend always raved about the nail designs and her nails always looked amazing so I always knew they do good work. I had my first appointment with them as a nail "model". I was so pleased when I walked in and saw that there wasn't a wait. I also took time to appreciate how cute their decor and setup is- it's more artsy and eclectic than most nail salons. They sell clothes, jewelry and other things so if you did have to wait a while, you have something to keep your attention. They also played great 90s R&B that day, making me feel right at home. My appointment began promptly and my nail designer Michelle educated me on the benefits of wearing Après gel over my nails to help them grow. I really appreciated that because my nails have been on the struggle bus. I also enjoyed watching the process because it was different from the typical acrylic application. It took about 1.75 hours for her to finish but I was very happy with the results. I'll definitely be going back. read more

I went in for my monthly service on august 24th. I booked my appointment the same week so i was placed with Alexis who i had never been serviced by before. I was a bit worried bc my previous experiences with some of the newer techs there never go well. Ex. Once after i left my appt and went to dinner my nails immediately started to come off. I went back and the tech reapplied them. By the time i was home they had started coming off again. When i notified them they happily abided by their two week policy to repair but in this case i had to get a whole new set by another tech. They claimed it was the light / glue combination she had used. She was no longer working there within my next two visits. Another time my 1 hr 30 min appt was about 2.5 because this newer tech was takiing her time but at keast my set lasted but i was upset that the time frame stated on my appt was not held. So this month, less than two weeks MULTIPLE nails were lifting. I took a video on friday to show them because i hadnt washed dishes or my hair so i was very shocked by that. The next day i lost a nail so i then remembered to send them the lifting video from the day before and my now missing nail. They asked me to text (i sent it via ig my main line phone i use to text them usually was broken) so i went showered and a second nail came off. I got dressed and went to get my clothes out the dryer and when i touched a piece of cloth a third nail came off. It was late so i texted them on Sunday from my other phone with pictures showing how the three nails were now gone. I got a response the following day asking if i wanted to come in to a master tech the next day for a new set. I said yes to a new set but i couldn't come the following day. I live 80 miles away so i only plan to make this visit once every 4-6 weeks. They asked the next day, i had a medical appt that i couldnt miss so i asked for wednesday. They said sure Sally could see me. All set. A few hours later we caught wind that Hurricane Francine was indeed headed to Louisiana, so i texted again like hey, theres a storm coming so maybe wednesday wont work. They were all well lets just see but we can schedule you the following wednesday 9/18 also...if need be. So by the end of the evening they texted saying they would in fact be closed this week due to the storm so we would keep my appt today. So last night i get an email canceling my appt. I immediately texted asking why they said they hadn't received a response from me. I reminded them that we had been communicating on (the phone we were currently on) not my number on file. And also, if you could send an email to cancel, WHY NOT SEND ONE TO FOLLOW UP?!?! So anyway, she reinstated my appt and asked if she should charge my card on file. I reminded, this is my DO OVER APPT from alexis sloppy appt. I didnt get a response so it seemed fine. Again, i unfortunately have been in this situation with them before but this was 2-3 years ago. So imagine my surprise this morning as I'm headed to the gas station to fill up and hit the road, i see that they texted earlier saying it was a miscommunication and i would need to PAY for my appt. Mind yall... ALL 10 of my nails were gone by the time the hurricane came last week. Now lets go back... the day of my appt i texted giving a heads up that i would be 5-10 mins late (this was during my drive so i was still a good bit out but traffic started looking sketchy) ... because my previous appt on July 5th i was ALREADY crossing the bridge into Kenner when i received a text asking to push my appt back AN HOUR. So atp im already in the city and have to find something to do to now pass an hour of time because they were behind. So when i arrived on august, i was only 3-5 mins behind. I rushed in and they said it was okay bc alexis was behind and would be with me soon. My appt was at 1pm and i wasnt seated at her station until 1:50pm. My appt was supposed to 1.5 hr - i always get the weekly special. ... so at 3:45 im still sitting and just getting polished - i started texting them like hey yall, yall should update / adjust the length of appt times for the newer techs bc i had a 1pm appt for an hour and half ... assuming id be out by 2:30 to head to an event up the street from 2-4... well now ive missed ny event. And i was texting bc i didnt want to verbalize in my frustration and it come out wrong and they had a house full. And from previous experiences they've said "let us know if you have an issue before you leave"... so when im finally finished i go to the counter , not to check out because i PREPAID MY $140 when i booked, and rachel and the desk girl were waiting to speak to me. read more

It's the precision, attention to detail and great service for me! I've been wanting to come here since I landed in NoLa. Black owned, womyn operated! I booked my appointment with @nailfool she's incredibly sweet, gentle, great to talk to and again very very detail focused! I got the gel x extensions with a nude color because my toddler was giving my mom the blues! I was so sad about not getting their amazing design treatment but were very accommodating to the last second change and offered options for me to come back to get them which I thought was very nice. You are required to pay a deposit to schedule an appointment and I honestly really love that. They take their craft and business serious and it helps with the current Covid situation. There was only one other client present during my appointment whom was literally on the other side of the salon. I felt very safe from their Covid protocols to sanitation of their tools. Everything was opened in front of me. Used tools never placed with new items even if from the same new pack. I'll definitely be back - I love nails that make you feel confident rather than want to hide imperfections from others. This will be my new spot. Insanely overpriced. Costs of service is never made clear. You will only know if you ask in person at the nail salon. I say this because the price on the website does not reflect what it costs when it comes to paying after you get your nails done. Client- Custom Nail Art Manicure states on the website that it starts at $110. As stated on the website: "you choose every detail, all ten fingers" I had no idea this was the appointment I had. The email confirmation stated it was the 'artist choice' appt. (cheaper price) I first made the appt via Instagram dm with the owner. I was asked what I wanted and sent multiple photos for ideas/inspiration. In person the artist asked which photo I wanted to use as the reference. I showed the basketball reference photo of what I wanted done. The nails looked nothing like the photo. For some reason my set cost $145 instead of $110. I wish the artist stated they weren't comfortable doing the set instead of getting something completely different then asked. When I emailed after the service questioning the price I was charged next day I received a text message from the salon to figure out a solution. They offered a full refund if I came in to remove the nails. Moments later they took it back and said they would only return half. Extremely disappointed in this service. The job was not done well at all especially by the lead artist of the salon. Will not return. read more

The ladies in here are FABULOUS. What they do is art and they are as kind as they are creative! I went in and got the weekly special (which they post on their Instagram - and it's completely customizable) and was not disappointed! Courtni did my gel mani and was so kind and has great attention to detail! I received a text prior to my visit to confirm and was offered water or wine when i arrived (plus plus). Never again... Lesson learned harshly. I made an appointment almost one month before. I was interested in going to this salon because of the show CLAWS. I had to cancel the appointment and did so with 24 hours. MAD Nails refunded my 20.00 deposit. But, after my 20.00 deposit was refunded MAD Nails promptly disputed the charge and I was left to pay it back through paypal. I will never ever again make an appointment with MAD Nails or for any services ever that require a deposit. This left a very bad taste in my mouth. I feel so used and scammed. I cannot even explain the way I actually feel it just feels awful. But, I'm done with MAD Nails, deposits, beauty services that require a deposit, paypal and even the show CLAWS. I'm just so done!
