Love gel manicures, Yvonne (the owner) provided me with a top notch mani. Seperate room for acrylyic nails is always nice. I do not like the smell. When you move to a new city and basically have to start over from scratch, it's not always easy as a woman finding the right people to do your eyebrows, hair, nails, etc. So needless to say it's been a process trying to find a nail salon that I like. I first went to Vive almost a year ago and was pleased, but quickly forgot about it. A couple of months later my husband and I were looking for a place to get our manis/pedis and instantly I remembered this place. From the outside it doesn't look like much, but when you walk in you'll find a clean inviting salon with techs instantly there to welcome you. With a nice selection of colors to choose from, Vive doesn't disappoint. Compared to a lot of other salons I've been to, Vive is up there with the quality, but with far lower prices. I've been about five times now and have yet to be disappointed. They use liners for their bowls when you get a pedicure which is another plus. I definitely recommend them if your looking for a good pedi and gel mani. I never feel rushed yet I don't spend two hours there either. Been here a few times now and the thing that keeps me coming back is the disposable foot rub liners and one-time use pumice stones! Seriously, if I never have to soak my tootsies in someone else's toe cheese water left over from the previous soak, I'm good with that! They also open new auto laced instruments for your mani or pedi! However, for all their cleanliness, there is only one nail scrub brush just sitting by the sink in the bathroom, no soak in disinfectant, no one-time use brush... Who knows when that gets cleaned? So minus one star. I had a gel mani ($30) and a pedi done ($28), pretty standard pricing. Happy with the work and friendly service! Will definitely be back again! read more

Sorry to say the new owner And workers are not living up to the previous owner. My gel nails would last at least 2 weeks, on Sunday I had my nails done. By Tuesday, my nails started to peel, down to only four nails with polish still on. On top of the polish coming off so quickly, they cut the quicks on four of my nails as they were buffing. I tried to call the owner, I'm out of town, but she was not available. I'm sure they will get their act together but I can't waste my time or money until they do. read more

Very cool once you walk in. I only wish they had Sunday hours. Both times I've visited, I've had great experiences. The ladies are friendly, social, and the services are decently priced. Today I visited as a pre-holiday pampering session, and many other ladies had the same idea. I was guided to a spa chair immediately, and Tien was friendly and fun. I'll be glad to go back to her. When you come inside, you'll see a sign-in sheet, shelving with a large array of colors to choose from (they have great selections for gel manicures also), and someone will greet you. During my pedicure, they even brought me a complimentary glass of wine. Other ladies visiting were talking about how clean this place is compared to some of the other local nail ships. It's true. They use those plastic shields so that your feet never touch the same water/spa tub that someone else's touched. They use disposable buffers, etc. The room is spotless. Of course, there's always girl talk, and today was no different. I received two hair salon recommendations, a spa recommendation, and everyone shared their Thanksgiving plans. I am giving them a 5 star review because I LOVE Tee and her artistry at powder nail polish. She is simply amazing and takes her time in soaking and what not. I still think their pedi service could improve as I tipically go to Star Nails down the road and they do a longer more spa-ish job at their pedis than Vive Nails. NOT coming back here. I have had more than a few shellacs, none of which have chipped in less than a week. I mean, come on! Normal manicures last a week- shellac is supposed to last two! 3 nails chipped since Wednesday afternoon (its only been 5 days). The chipping isn't the only problem. The woman filed my nails and left them jagged on the ends. They were wonderfully shaped (that's one positive thing) but the ends were so rough that it scratched my skin and snagged my chiffon dress. She also didn't paint enough layers. The nail polish is a very nude, subtle color but I would have liked to have the color evenly distributed on my nails. I was going to complain but the woman said "color will even out when drying"...... ugh. My last complaint: the woman cuts my cuticles so short that fingers bled; she stopped the bleeding quickly but after a few days I have hang nails on the fingers where the cuticle was cut too short. Story short: yeah- you save money on a manicure here but it isn't worth saving a few extra bucks when you have to pay another $35 a week later. read more

Clean, friendly, efficient, and they are good at what they do. I've had manis, pedis, gel manis, fake nails, and added on the occasional 10 minute massage. I'm always satisfied with their services. I was looking for a salon for regular pedicures but I won't be going back to this place. 2 stars because the people were friendly and the place was clean however I could have gotten a better pedicure elsewhere for cheaper. The nail tech dug at my cuticles until I bled. Pedicures should be relaxing not painful. Also, they hardly scrubbed my feet so I walked out with my heels as rough as they were when I came in. Finally found my go-to nail salon in Vive after several failed experiences with other salons in town. Vive has a wide variety of colors, the work looks great on completion (you would be surprised at the poor quality I have had people charge $$$$ for) and they accept gratuity by credit card. We were just visiting NOLA and decided to get our nails done a la local "style". Took the bus to this place after believing all the other Yelp reviews that it's a great place. And we weren't disappointed! Indeed it is very clean, the ladies are really attentive and not the pushy way. They don't talk to each other without taking a breath like in other places (and which I hate, because then they don't really pay attention to what they're doing to you). So high five for that! I had a pedicure, my gf a mani-pedi. Both came out really nice. They do have a very nice selection of colors! We didn't have to wait at all when we walked in (around 4). Ok, I was uptown and desperately needed my eyebrows waxed. Driving up tchoup riverside, I passed a couple of nail salons, which looked busy, so I kept going until I happened upon this little place on the corner. I stop inside, and it is very quiet, but quite clean and welcoming. I had my very young son with me, and while the one lady did my eyebrows (and did a fantastic job, I might add), the other lady played with my kid in the front room and kept him quiet and occupied. They were so sweet and accommodating, their salon was immaculate, and the waxing job was well done and reasonably priced, I will definitely be back! read more

I have tried several of the nail spas uptown and this is by far my favorite. Everything is clean and they use disposable liners in the pedicure soak tubs. It is also the most relaxing I've found - no TV, no loud chatting cross the salon between the nail technicians and best of all wine with your pedicure! The gel manicures are fantastic and last for weeks. It is more often a problem of my nails growing out than the polish peeling off. Bring cash for a discount on all services! read more

This place would have gotten 4 stars for quality if it hadn't been for the rude service. The owners/managers are very nice but the two techs I got were rude. My leg massage was very short and when I asked for lotion, which I thought was standard with a pedi, the nail tech gave me attitude... I then could not find my flip flops because they got pushed under my chair and when I asked for help looking for them the nail tech rolled her eyes at me and pulled one from deep under the chair and walked away....will not be returning. read more

Just in time for my spring break!! Vive Nails Uptown opened just over a month ago (originally in the West Bank and still out there) and is already attracting quite the crowd. I was able to get in immediately for a pedicure without an appointment but by the time she began, a list had started as ladies patiently awaited their turn in the chair. Vive is the cleanest spa I've been to since moving here; they have disposable liners for their foot baths and use one-time use pumice stones. Best part: their color selection is unreal! Oh My Gosh. AMAZING! I walked in at 5:30ish and there was no other customers there. The place was spotless, so clean. I was immediately greeted when I walked in and a woman began running my pedi water immediately. All of their OPI colors are also available in the gel manicure so I got my gel mani and pedi colors to match even though only my mani was gel! Immediately 2 women started working on me. One on my pedi and one on my mani. They didn't hurt me, I wasn't over talked, and she shaped and cut my nails EXACTLY how I asked (which I have found at other places is a rare occurrence). My pedi was great, my mani was great. When I went to put my boots back on the man who initially greeted me was very concerned I would mess up the polish so he took some extra time and applied another special top coat oil to keep them from smudging. Throughout the whole time I was there, other customers entered and they were all treated the same, no one had to wait. I paid $55 for a gel mani and a pedi -- which is amazing considering I've paid $70 for the same thing and had a worse experience. I left the nail spa at 6:20ish a very happy customer. I will be returning and I will be recommending this place to my friends! My new fav nail spa!!! read more

Came here to get my nails done for graduation, the ladies were not that friendly and for some reason even though I paid before my manicure started and made it clear I was getting a french manicure, as I was leaving, I was told that french was $5 extra. I wasn't going to argue it but it felt a little suspicious. Overall one of the less expensive places uptown, but still pricey at around $45 for a mani pedi. The polish started peeling after about 4 days and the french manicure was slightly uneven, although it was just a regular polish. Excellent experience! My friend and I were able to walk in and get immediate service Mardi Gras weekend. The prices were awesome and the work was excellent. The ladies were very kind (I forgot to get names :( ) and helped us pick out colors when we were unsure and try some to make sure we got what we wanted. I had a mani and pedi done. I was visiting the neighborhood for a wedding and saw they had good reviews online. There were two different women who did my toes and my hands. Pedi -- 5 stars. It is love. I had it done 3 days and I have warn nothing but open toe in New Orleans and it is still in great shape. Mani -- 1 star. It started chipping 2 days afterwards. The woman who did it painted over my cuticles. I noticed multiple errors on my hands before leaving it was that bad. I think the woman may need to get glasses. So, I am giving them 3 stars. If I lived in the area, I would return, I would just avoid the woman who did a horrible job on my nails. Oh my! The females that work here are the rudest. You would think that because you're uptown you would get better service! Not the case. I got a bad vibe as soon as I walked in. They don't greet you and stare dead in your face waiting for you to say something! So weird! Then when I was getting my nails done, the lady placed a bowl of soapy water to my left. She had been standing on my right side doing my nails and I really didn't notice the bowl on my left! I was suppose to read her mind and have stuck my left hand in the water. Well I got yelled at; she sighed and gave me a nasty attitude. About time someone open their mouth but I should have gotten up and left! I didn't want to be rude. After my mani and pedi, both ladies left me sitting there without saying a word so I got up and left. Mute and bitter? maybe? Idk but I highly don't recommend this place. I have frequented vive nails spa for years but since the change of location from Harvey to Uptown their prices seem to fluctuate. They do great nails but there is no reason to overcharge. Yesterday I went in to get a acrylic refill, brow wax and my toes polished. My grand total was $50. Two weeks earlier I went in for acrylic refill and brow wax total was $30. I was charged $20 for a polish!! Please calculate your total before paying! They will overcharge! I WONT be returning. read more
