We were seated immediately and provided menus. The menu states their specialties are: Beef Noodle Soup & Grilled Meats. They offer a great array of dishes ranging from Vermicelli to Regional Noodle dishes. I ordered the H7 Bun Bo Hue.. I love the taste of lemongrass & typically enjoy my meals spicy. I received my food in a very timely manner & it was piping hot.. They give you a choice b/w small & lrg - I opt'd for the lrg. The broth was full of flavor and instantly gave me that warm fuzzy feeling. My only complaint is that it was not very spicy and i was expecting vermicelli noodles and rec'd udon. Been here a few times for veggie pho and it was decent, but this last visit I went with my mother who hadn't had pho in years. The broth was quite bland, even the non-veg broth, with none of the spice flavoring. Also, the tofu in mine was sour. My other experiences were fine, so I'm going to assume they were having an off day for sure, and maybe missing some supplies. Let me tell you something about this place. I homeschooled my twin boys until they were 14 years old. At least once per week we went to An Loi for lunch, which was always EXCEPTIONAL. They always recognized us like we were regulars. But then I went back to work and we stopped going. Flash forward 11 years. My sons are now 25 years old. One of them went there tonight with a friend after rock climbing in Columbia. The server said "Hey you used to come here with your brother and father!" This is the best pho place in all of Howard county, hidden in a strip mall. I don't know exactly why it's so much better than the others but it is. The broth is fragrant. I always get veggie pho, long term vegetarian. The brown sauce and spicy chili oil is also amazing, it has a unique crunch to it. Vegetables very fresh. The best Pho spot in the area! It's right off of Snowden River in the shopping center where the Pizza Hut and KFC is located. Hands down, no lies this is the best pho that I've tasted, the broth is amazing and the kimchi added the perfect amount of spice to my brisket and rice noodles! I've been making my way through the Vietnamese places in Charlotte lately so I do have some recent comparisons to other restaurants. I found An Loi's summer rolls to be just okay. A little bland, actually. The Pho Ga was a large bowl and very well stuffed with noodles but not as much chicken as it should have had. I dined with a friend who also had a big bowl of Pho. Strangely, there was only one plate of fixings for us to share. I'm thinking that two people should each have their own plate of basil, bean sprouts, peppers and lime wedge. I thought that the broth was a little weak. Not nearly as flavorful or rich as I've had elsewhere. Still, the service was good at keeping water refilled and clearing away dirty dishes. The pricing here is very generous, it was about $9 for a large bowl of pho with all the good stuff: meatballs, brisket, tripe, etc. They don't skimp on anything. Generous portions of noodles, meat, and a very rich tasting broth. If you're in the area and are looking for a great priced pho place that'll simultaneously satisfy your palate and your stomach, look no further than An Loi. Service wise, I got the bare minimum that I would expect. Nothing more, nothing less, so perfect. Why a 4/5 stars despite how good the food was? We enjoy the friendly casual atmosphere, the polite and professional service and the tasty pho plus appetizer spring rolls here. The summer roll with grilled pork is definitely the one to get. Dip in peanut sauce, add a generous helping of Sriracha, and it is a proper taste explosion! Definitely get the Vietnamese iced coffee, dripped right at your table in to sweetened condensed milk, and your heart will start racing. We find this is a necessary precursor to snarf down a huge bowl of pho. The best part is the friendly grandmother type who takes your empty plates and says something or another in extremely limited English. My coworkers and I came here for lunch. My goodness...this food is dy.nam.mic. Their lunch menu allows you to choose three grilled meats with rice, cabbage, and carrots. The cost was pretty inexpensive compared to the portion size. I ordered the grilled lemon chicken, pork, and beef grape leaves. The food came out pretty quickly. The flavor was godly. I ate my food very slow to savor it's wonderfulness. The portion sizes were pretty good. Halfway through my food, I was full. The staff are very friendly and speak English well. They were patient with us as we were trying to pronounce words on the menu which made this a cool learning experience. It was nice coming to a health friendly establishment where the flavor was not neglected. I also appreciate being able to travel there, order food, eat and return back to work within the lunch hour. It's described as: Egg noodles with sliced eye round steak in a light condensed sate soup topped with peanuts, tomatoes, lettuce, cilantro & scallions Mine didn't come with peanuts or cilantro which would have made it even better, but it was delicious! The Bun So Hue came out looking and smelling yummy but I also thought it was taste wise a little greasy. But I also tend to be a little more sensitive about oily flavors in general so other people might like it better than me. I arrived alone around 7 pm on a Saturday night and asked if I could sit at a table that had 4 chairs that was next to the wall in a corner the waitress said no and directed me to a 2 seat tiny table in the middle aisle right across from the register. If your dining alone the last thing u want is to feel singled out for everyone to view your alone. It's extremely awkward. I said I'll order to go then. I walked up to the register and ordered a rice noodle soup with shrimp , fried egg rolls and a boba Thai tea. I came back 10 min later to find at least 6 empty tables. So it would not have been a issue to let me sit at my desired table since clearly there rush hour was coming to a end. I asked the register lady at least 3 times if they added the dark sweet sauce to my bag for the soup. She confirmed multiple times yes! When I arrived home 15 min later there was no dark sauce. So I called the restaurant and the lady at the register answering and said she put it in the bag with the vegetables and also added a second one in the bag she kept insisting but I told her there was NONE! She never apologized or said we will try and do better. So I could not finish eating my soup because it was so bland and the shrimp was super rubbery. I just tossed it. $24 in the trash!! How do you get broth and shrimp wrong??? That's why you need that sweet dark sauce for flavor. Oh and the rice noodles were cut into small pieces not long. We came here without a reservation on the drive from DC up to Philly. It was around 1:30 on a Saturday, and the place was busy, but there was a table all ready for my spouse and me when we arrived. I got the entree with wide, flat noodles and seafood. It was so yummy!!! Not goopy at all. The best part about it was the vegetables.. so many fresh veggies in this! Snowpeas and chinese broccoli and carrots and mushrooms and so much more! And the seafood was excellent, too. Not at all overdone. It was especially delicious when I added hoisin and sriracha. And so cheap! My spouse's pho was less than $7, and my seafood entree was $14 but I got three meals out of it. Rainy cold day = perfect day for pho!! The kimchi pho was delicious, broth was rich and flavorful with some spice! The kimchi stayed crunchy and gave a nice tangy to the dish. Only 4 stars because the serving staff forgot an order of summer rolls we put in. But we were full from all our Pho so I guess it wasn't needed but looked delicious at the other tables. read more

Pho is not that bad. but I definitely had better. This place is located in a shopping plaza with couple other restaurants and it is not that clean either. They have a parking lot so parking is not a issue. This place is pretty small and they have different variety of menus. All of us ordered Pho and it was just whatever. the portions are pretty smaller than what I am used to and the broth tasted too oily to me. They also did not give enough meats and i felt like I was just eating a noodle soup...a very oily noodle soup. read more
