Delicious Pho all eaten up!
Leigh D.

I never think to get Pho, but it's very good in general. This is the final of the 2024 photo series representing December. Friday, December 6 was the day after my industry holiday party, and my weight had broken a record high since the original weight loss concluding in October 2022. While I enjoyed the crab cakes, eggrolls, wine, beer, etc. at this party, I paid the price with a +3.4 lbs over morning before, and the 2nd highest day-to-day increase of 2024, occurring the morning of 12/14 after community holiday party. Suffice it to say, I wanted to eat something healthy and Pho sounded like a good option on a very cold, windy December 6. I hadn't had Pho in maybe 5 years when I lived in Wheaton. This was a no frills, small restaurant. Server was attentive, and the Pho was excellent, better than the Pho I had when I lived in Wheaton. We definitely will need to come back here.

A2. Summer Roll without pork

For years I've gotten pho delivered from this restaurant but today we were in the area so in light of having 28F degree weather..decided it was pho time. There was a line out the door when we arrived but we were still seated within 5 minutes of getting there. In addition to the people dining in, so many doordash or takeout orders. They stay busy for sure. We got the summer rolls without pork, I got the Tai Chin small and my bf got the veggie pho. Nothing hits quite like a bowl of pho on a cold winter night. Aromatic broth, plenty of flank steak and brisket, and of course the chili oil, hoisin sauce and herbal accoutrements on top made for a perfect dinner. I actually had a lot of leftover too and was struggling to finish it. Would recommend checking out An Loi. Would love to try the other soups and noodle dishes on the menu as well.

"Pad Thai" lol
Steve P.

I know this is a Pho place but I was in the mood for something else for takeout. I got the Pad Thai. Big mistake. Worst "Pad Thai" I've ever had. The noodles were overcooked, flavorless, gummy and clumped together. I asked for it spicy and there wasn't any hint of spice. Literally had three shrimp im it and some little thin rectangular planks of what I think was chicken. Barely a sprinkle of crushed peanuts and even less bean sprouts. The fried spring rolls were ok but on the small side and not as flavorful as the ones from other Vietnamese places in the area. I really should have checked my bag before I left but I was in a hurry. First impressions count so I definitely won't be trying this place again.

I really enjoyed my bún here and my company enjoyed the pho. Everything was light, fresh, and perfectly seasoned. His pho was hot, the protein on mine came practically sizzling but everything else was nice and chilled! Restaurant is small, very casual, and clean. It was not busy when we arrived so all tables in use were spread out which was nice for privacy. There was one person both taking orders and serving tables but we didn't have to wait long for service! You can tell this spot is liked cause the staff would greet regulars with big smiles and welcome them warmly. It was very sweet.

2.20.24 Hadn't been here in a few years. Picked up food for hubby and I since our go to pho restaurant was closed on Monday and my hubby was feeling under the weather. Hubby ordered a small eye round steak (tai) and I ordered a small well-done brisket (chin) and flank (nam). Surprisingly, it was more delicious than I remember. There was much more meat than our go to restaurant and a few dollars cheaper. Staff were friendly from the moment I placed the order over the phone, being greeted upon arrival, and paying at the counter. So glad my husband and I decided to give them another try. Our experience was much better than our last visit a few years ago when our take out order was messy.

Average. Didn't love it. Didn't hate it. If too much MSG in soup is a thing maybe that's the issue here. Pho broth kinda tasted like very salty dish water to me and I eat a lot of Pho. It didn't have that clean, herbal, spice taste that most Pho has. It tasted dark and funky. Could just be a different style. I'll try some apps or noodle dishes next time. I'd come back. They were relatively busy for 8:PM on a Monday and service was fast and friendly. I had the Pho Tai (eye round). They gave me a healthy portion of large thick slices of meat. It was pretty tough, though. I didn't finish half of it which is rare for me. So yeah... I guess I won't get the Pho here again.

It's an appetizer it has grilled steak inside of the grape leaves.

We've been looking for a place where we could have some hot soup, and it's a good thing we ended up here. When we entered the place looked so nice and clean. The staff was polite. The food is delicious and highly recommended. The serving size of the soup is good for two to three people.

I never reviewed An Loi; I can't believe it. I have been coming here for years. They have a lot of regulars. They are efficient as your food comes out fast. I usually get the chicken pho. It's always flavourful. The broth is constantly good. It's definitely one of the best pho in columbia.

First time visiting this restaurant and having pho. There are so many places in the area with this dish on the menu, but not all reviews met my expectations. While this one had some mixed reviews, the reviews about the taste of the pho was what stood out for me. When I entered the restaurant, I was greeted by a waitress. I told her that I was there to place an order. She showed me where to order. Since I had already conducted lots of research about pho and reviewed different menus at various restaurants, I already knew what I wanted to order. I placed two carryout orders for vegetarian pho. According to the online menu, the vegetarian pho only comes in a large size with a $2.00 surcharge on the already listed price of $12.00. The surcharge appears to be for the vegetarian variety only. I did not see any chairs for waiting customers, so I stood somewhere near the food pickup area. There were some tables marked with do not sit signs, so it was unclear where to wait. Thereafter, the waitress offered me a seat at any of the other tables. There were numerous empty tables when I arrived with about two occupied while I was present. As I was leaving, it was nearing lunchtime, so other patrons were entering. When I arrived home, I realized that the carryout pho did not come assembled. The broth was in a separate plastic container, the melange of vegetables and noodles were in a takeaway box and the miscellaneous sprouts, fresh basil and lime wedges were enclosed in a wax paper bag. There was also a small container of sauce on the side. It was actually a good idea that the items were not combined. The broth was delicious. Initially, I was concerned that it would be bland and maybe watered down, but it was full-flavored and could have been consumed as a stand alone. The addition of the other items just made it better. The vegetables were lightly steamed, but softened a little more once placed inside of the hot broth. I enjoyed the carryout version, but I would really like to try it in-house already fully assembled with the extra topping options provided on the table at the restaurant. The large was enough for a second bowl, which was great. The pho was filling and was a perfect lunch for a cooler day. I would certainly purchase this again or try it somewhere else that offers added shrimp.

My family has been eating at An Loi for years, and we've always had a great experience. I believe they recently changed ownership, and it's been better than ever - the servers are very kind and attentive, the food is delicious, and portions are generous and filling. My favorite is the L1, L2, L3 lunch/dinner special - you pick up to 3 types of their specialty meat, which comes with some vegetables, rice, and their specialty sauce (my favorite). Super delicious and filling. My dad always enjoys the pho as well. I do think this is some of the best Vietnamese food in the area. Would recommend and will be back!

I forgot to take pictures of my meal BUT this restaurant has always been a lovely experience for me ( and I've attached photos of their paper menu). Today, I went light. I ordered grape leaves, rice and steamed vegetables. Their Pho is phenomenal. I called in my order and was given the time to pick it up. The restaurant has tables for seating and gives a warm cozy feeling when there. Spicy actually means spicy and that's a plus for me!

This review is long overdue. I have been eating here for the last 5 years and it is hands the best pho I've had in Howard county. The broth is never too salty or bland. On top of that they load the bowls with lots of meat. They even have Asian chili unlike other pho places in the area. My go to place for a rainy day. 10/10

It is so good, with plenty of chicken and noodles, and it is a huge portion. I love that they provide plenty of accoutrements to go with the pho: Thai basil leaves, limes, jalapeños, and bean sprouts. My niece has become addicted to their pickled onions, and can't eat her rolls without them, but I'm passing on that trend for now. I waited in line with Child #1 and Child #2 to make our order and fortunately, a staffer saw us looking for a table and waved us over to an area that they were cleaning as another party of three stood up. It's worth noting that while there are a few small 2-top and 4-top tables, most of the space is jam-packed where your table will butt right up against a different party. It adds a bit to the convivial experience, but it does also mean a larger group may have to split up. Got some brunch, and Child #2 got a kids' meal of pancakes with bacon. Seemed pretty standard. I love a good plate of chicken and waffles so I sprang for that. The chicken was decently seasoned but the waffles were underwhelming. Child #1 got The berry cheesecake french toast and loved it. I tasted a bite and it was not bad. There is an area with condiments that customers can just grab (there is no table-side service, so this makes sense), including a place to grab your own water. Child #1 ordered an orange juice, which we both tasted and it was definitely fermented (unpleasant). When I brought it up to the staff behind the counter, it was "oh, that's too bad" with no offer to remedy it. We bought a bottled one from their fridge, which was better. I got a mango peach lemonade, which was sweet but otherwise very nice. Child #2's meal came with a juice box. We were meeting up with my wife just a few minutes later, so I ordered her an iced coffee and a cubano sandwich. To the barista's credit, they said "hey, just wave me down when you're about finished eating and I'll make it fresh for you to go." Nice. The cubano was okay - it came on what seemed like white bread, rather than a sturdier ciabatta or sub roll that can be pressed (like a cubano normally is) so my wife found it to be okay at best. Overall, the experience didn't blow me away, but there were some decent items and clearly folks in the know come here often so maybe we just had a down day. If I come back, I think I'll try any of the Korean fusion dishes (it is in Ellicott City, after all).

Since the location I typically grab my broth from crushed my heart when they told me they no longer sold broth when I tried to pick some up on my way home Friday, I had to find an alternative. Not being able to leave the house today, I was fortunate my mother wanted to bring me something to help me feel better. I instantly remembered Man Vs Pho and ran to Yelp first to look at recommendations as well as pictures. I then went to their website to check out the menu and was pleased to find they offered the broth by itself in a 32 oz container of either beef, chicken or vegetable and I quickly added it to my list. I was expecting my mother to call me when she got there but the next thing I knew, she was telling me to open the door. I love she didn't have a problem with ordering and she informed me that it was nice inside and she jokingly rubbed the Buddhas belly and head for good luck. She did say they didn't have any takeout menus at the counter to take with her since she was curious about the food and wanted to try some also. They also didn't put one in the bag either. The broth definitely did is job. I almost passed out after drinking about 75% of it. Steaming hot and burnt my tongue just as wonderful as I could have asked for. It was a little bit on the salty side so I did have to hydrate myself throughout and also why I couldn't finish all of it. The death of the flavor wasn't as intense as others I've tried but I would have to try their beef broth to actually compare it to others. They really came through in the clutch and I'm so glad for that. There's definitely on my list to try again so that I can see if I have a new Pho spot.

I'm not sure what took me so long to make it to Man vs Pho, but I'm glad I've finally had the…read morechance to experience the food. Man vs Pho, although tiny is size, packs a flavor punch in their dishes. They offer a variety of phos or if you'd rather create you own concoction you can do that as well. There are ban mi sandwiches at a great price for $7.99, appetizers, and even some cold coffee drinks with jelly pieces. With only two seats at a tiny counter-like table I figured the 30-minute drive back home was probably best to really enjoy my food. I ordered the Garlic Butter Chicken Pho, since I've never seen that as a pho option before, and the Chicken Spring Rolls. And let me tell you, I was not disappointed when I opened my bag to smell all of the deliciousness. Everything came packaged so nicely in their containers and the portion sizes were very generous. You're definitely able to get two portions of pho with the rice noodles they give you. The broth alone was so flavorful and comforting and the garlic butter chicken was a great choice for the protein. The chicken spring rolls are a must! Juicy, flavorful, and appetizing with a tasty little dipping sauce on the side. Needless to say, I'm literally thinking about my next trip to Man vs Pho as I write this review.
