We're new to Anacortes and recently brought our Land Cruiser to Anacortes Automotive. The A/C was low on refrigerant, so the team vacuum-tested the system, found no significant leaks, replaced the service valves, added UV dye, and recharged it. They also cleaned old oil residue from the engine, added leak dye, and confirmed there wasn't an active leak. While it was in the shop, they serviced the overdue transfer case and front differential fluids. What stood out was their honesty. They could have recommended more extensive repairs, but instead they fixed what needed attention and explained everything clearly. If I could give more then 5 stars I would. Wednesday night I went to drive home to enjoy my day off Thursday at home, knowing my alternator was giving me trouble. I planned to fix it. But i only made as far as 5 miles down the highway south of mt Vernon. I got my car towed to anacortes automotive. After hours and left a voice mail. I came in at opening and explained the symptoms and what work was recently down. They fit my car into the schedule the next day. My battery still under warranty, at Les Schwab, needed to be replaced. And they took the time to goto Les schwab and get a replacement battery and fix my car that day sonic was ready for pick up when I was off work at the refinery. They went above and beyond. I wrote a review recently, and they found a way to delete my review. So forgive me, but this review will not be subtle. These guys are morons, I had an injector issue with my truck, and they told me I needed a valve job. Well, I just had a brand new engine installed by an extremely reputable company who builds racing engines. it is a fuel injector issue that I am experiencing. Update to this post: just as I said, it was an injector issue. Bear in mind that I had to convince the mechanic of this, and still he did nothing to fix it. Derive your own conclusions. Great local shop. Brought my car in for basically a "100,000 mile service," knowing the brakes were shot. I mentioned that the car would probably need a drive belt, transmission fluid flush, coolant flush, and new plugs. They said they'd do an overall inspection and get back to me, which they did - very quickly I might add! I brought the car in around 8AM and had an emailed, itemized list of big ticket items that needed attention in my email around noon. They were up-front, honest, and agreeable to work with, for sure! We spoke again on the phone post-inspection and agreed on the work to be done, and I got a quote over the phone. The shop was extremely busy, so it required that the car be "under the knife" for a couple of days. Not a real problem for me, and I didn't get any runaround from the folks I spoke with on the phone. These guys definitely are not "morons," and we had a good communication flow back and forth - much the opposite of what "Josh R." is claiming. I've found that being a little more proactive in your daily life pays dividends, but let's not get off on a tangent here... When I came to pick the car up, there were no surprises. The work we agreed on was the work that was done, and there weren't any additional fees, billed hours, parts or anything like that. The price was the same as agreed to over the phone. Quick, efficient, friendly, and reasonably priced! We have been very pleased with the service we've received from the people at Anacortes Automotive. They are quick to finish a job (last week, we called for an appointment on Tuesday, they fit us in Wednesday morning, and were able to finish the work by 1pm Wednesday even though they were short-staffed!) and always willing to explain in detail what is going on with the vehicle. Just moved to Anacortes and needed a simple oil change. I decide to give these guys a try because I had received a flyer in the mail. I called to make an appoint and left a message. That was 4 weeks ago. HHmmm. Well, i was considering going to them just as a convenience but instead I will continue to go to Elliot GOODYEAR in Mt. Vernon. Little did Anacortes Automotive realize how many vehicles I own or have serviced on a regular basis. I think they really dropped the ball here because if they are willing to pay for flyers/advertisements to drum up more business then they just failed miserably. I wish I could have had opportunity to work with them but if they cant even make a simple call or appointment and that SPEAKS A LOT about customer services and yes I did call again. My husband and I were looking for a new mechanic after a bad experience at our regular one. We live in Oak Harbor and after seeing rave reviews online... we decided to travel the 30 minutes to try out Anacortes Automotive... we are glad we did! We are planning on driving 2,000 miles and we wanted to get an oil change and an all around check on our vehicle. The staff was very friendly and efficient, they did a very in depth check on our vehicle and we couldn't of asked for a better experience. At our previous mechanic they said that we needed something replaced and this mechanic said everything was good, I feel like they are honest and strive to be the best at what they do. This is obviously a very well run operation with friendly, accommodating staff that really seems to care about their customers. I bring both my work and personal vehicles here for service, and have been well taken care of for a variety of services including mystery electrical gremlins, old, non-functioning AC systems, as well as general maintenance and repairs. We broke down on a Sunday and showed up at the shop at 8 am Monday morning, my 2006 Dodge Ram was in the bay and diagnosed within the hour. I am so happy to find a local shop that takes care of their customers. The work quality and the honesty of the employees is above par. I had another automotive shop try to convince me that I needed my Water Pump replaced. These guy's showed me pictures of the Water Pump showing me there wasn't a problem and never has been. Overpriced for one. Two, after paying 300 bucks for what boiled down to a transmission fluid change, I opened the hood of my car to change my oil a couple days later and they had left my transmission fluid dip stick and a rag sitting on top of my engine. It's a miracle the two didn't fall into a belt or somewhere else. Won't be coming back to this place. Should have known not to trust a big name car shop on Commercial Avenue. I just can't let this one go. Three times I've broken down between Friday Harbor and Mount Vernon. All three times I've been able to limp into Anacortes automotive, and all three times they were able to get me back on the road within five minutes. All three of these incidences were not easy to detect. I am so impressed with the knowledge these guys have. They didn't charge me for any of those five minute repairs. I had to run to get on the ferry, and the more I thought about it the more I said I have to do something for these guys.
