I am writing this on behalf of my mother in law. She has been a long time customer here and never questioned the service. She recently brought her car in for an oil change and they brought up a few other items that she should take care of, one of them being her brakes. The CSR gave her a form that listed she needed pads, rotors, and calipers to the tune of +/- $1,800. Thankfully my son was with his grandma and the suggestion of calipers struck him as odd. I am a mechanic so they had me take a look at the information provided. The Burlington Automotives mechanic that did the inspection on her car did call out her brake pads(and a few other small service items), but did not call out rotors or calipers. I did a brake job on her car and, indeed, it only needed pads with the rotors being perfectly smooth and within spec. The calipers were also in great shape with the dust seals still attached, no cracks or anything like that. We went to talk with Louis, the Store Manager, and he first said that pads and rotors are often changed together and thought it was weird the mechanic didn't call out the rotors. I stated it was because the rotors are fine. I asked about calipers and he went into a story about them potentially seizing if there is wear, again, not called out by the mechanic and the dust seals are in great shape. He then said that the CSR was "new" which is a cop out. If the person is "new", they should have oversight and that still doesn't explain how the mechanic got it right and the CSR got it wrong. When I asked what thier policy is for the hand off of information, he said the CSR should take exactly what the mechanic says BUT rotors and pads go together because It can cause uneven wear, we also dont turn rotors, we just go new. It is a real shame because this sort of things gives all mechanics a bad name. To be clear, the actual mechanic's report was on point and I think he was a fine mechanic. The CSR and Store Manager, though, should be ashamed of themselves At the end of the day, they tried to screw an old lady out of a bunch of money. Louis barely apologized, trying to make every excuse he could to get out of admitting they wronged her. They didn't have her best interest in mind.... do they have yours? read more

My car was towed in, we were on vacation and it wouldn't start. I was told it might be the battery or the starter and they'd let me know by 3 pm (it was 9:15 am) When I was handed the bill (at 4 pm) I had been charged for not only a battery, but also $30 to install it and a totally bogus $200 "diagnostic" fee, where they basically went over the whole car and checked everything, even the brake fluid, shock absorbers, spark plugs, muffler, brakes and transmission fluid. If they suspected that the problem was the battery, ( it was) why perform all these other totally unrelated and unnecessary tests, except to run up a huge bill for a customer who they had at their total mercy and that they knew damned well they'd never see again! They were very charming and friendly while they were busy screwing me, so I gave them two stars instead of one. read more

Wow, I never thought I would be writing a 5-star review of an auto mechanic. But this place is beyond amazing. I don't say this often. but I would leave them 10 stars if I could. It all starts with me, stupidly, accidentally driving over a curb in my Hyundai. Fast forward a few minutes and I heard a funny, and disconcerting, flapping sound underneath the passenger seat. Yes, I had knocked my skid plate loose, and although (thankfully) there was nothing mechanically wrong with the car, it was still not a lot of fun driving down I-5 with a funny noise emanating from underneath the vehicle. Not sure who to call, since I just moved, I inquired of a few friends and more than one of them recommended Burlington Automotive. I called them the next day and got an appointment a couple of weeks later. Yeah, car shops are busy right now. Luckily, I had my second vehicle to drive so I didn't have to listen to that scary flapping sound until I could get my car in. I dropped my car off the night before my appointment, and by noon the next day they had called with a diagnosis and repair. They were able to fix it for under $100, which was absolutely amazing considering I was planning on paying way more than that to get my car back. And not only that, I really loved their online system where the service manager was able to send me a complete report of everything they had done, and everything that my car might need done in the coming weeks and months. I look forward to using this wonderful business again, the next time (knock on wood) my car needs any work. I highly recommend them to anyone who lives even remotely nearby, who doesn't know a lot about cars and need someone trustworthy. read more

Encountered. Made. Me. Feel. Welcomed. That is the #1 reason I will continue bringing my car here. The second reason specifically is Tonya She sent me the estimate for repairs and the full inspection report. Then, she gave me time to review and digest it all before calling to discuss and answer any questions I had. Not only that, but later when I called back with my spouse on the line to ask questions also, Tonya was very good at helping us prioritize things from the list of repairs. I love this place and I am also thankful to Hyundai of Skagit for recommending Burlington Automotive when they could have just left me to figure it out as they had no appointments as soon as I needed. I recommend taking your car to a different mechanic. I had my brakes replaced at Burlington Automotive, and in my opinion, the service was disappointing. I believe they used remanufactured factory brakes instead of aftermarket parts. Shortly after, one of the brakes parts failed. I took my vehicle to a local mechanic, who inspected it and, in his professional opinion, mentioned that the brake was improperly installed by over-torquing , stripped, and leaking brake fluid. I attempted to contact Burlington Automotive to discuss a warranty/compensation for the work that had to be redone. I sent in receipts and pictures from the other mechanic. At first there were some phone calls and messages, but I felt /dismissed/cold shouldered and then ignored as time went on. I gave them the benefit of the doubt and waited, but I was left unsatisfied. Now, whenever I drive past their shop, I can't help but feel that their services are overpriced and that they don't stand behind their work. This experience left me with a negative impression. read more

Burlington Automotive replaced my water pump two years ago and used a paper gasket after putting in the water pump. I took my car into the Toyota dealership for an oil change, and the dealership told me I needed a new water pump and that mine was leaking. I took it to another mechanic that I trust because I had just had the water pump replaced at Burlington Automotive a couple of years ago so I couldn't understand why I would need a new one. My mechanic went to go put in a new water pump and discovered that the reason there was a leak was because when the new water pump had been replaced by Burlington Automotive they had used a paper gasket which was the cause for the leak. It took my guy two hours to scrape off the paper gasket. How cheap do you have to be to not use a rubber gasket? read more

I had an conrfirmed appointment for 8AM Feb 2, i asked if i could wait? i was told you have to give us ahead of time. it does make sense, an empty bay for your vehicle... i waited for 6 HOURS for am oil change... Took my car in to get a lug nut stud replaced. Should have been a 100$ job maximum. Instead, they charged me 600 dollars for an inspection I didn't ask for and a new wheel hub (which at worst is a 110$ part + a few hours of work) not only that, the "new" hub they put on is the squeakiest piece of shit I've ever seen. I can't rave enough about this place! Our brakes were squeeking very loud so we decided it was time to take them in. We always assume the worst when taking cars into big shops like this but a couple hours later they called us and said they were completely fine, that the squeekiness will go away and that there was 70% life left in them. Any other shop would've taken us for a ride. On top of that we told them to go ahead and do an oil change while it was in there. We always go with the expensive synthetic oil changes for our cars ($70). Well when it was time to pick the car up he told us that it was no charge. I have an older Audi which is always expensive to fix no matter what it is including an oil change. The employees here are always so nice and explain things in a way I understand. I have a few things I need done and they helped me pick the most important things to do first within my budget. As a woman I am always apprehensive about what I really need done. Took my wife's 2012 Subaru Impreza in for an oil change, but called ahead to see if they had an oil filter for it. They didn't but said they could grab a $15 Mobil one filter and give me a $10 coupon to offset the filter. I ended up swinging by the Subaru dealer on the way and bought a Subaru filter and crush washer for the drain plug on the way to Burlington Automotive for the oil change. I gave them the filter and washer to use, so all they had to provide was labor and oil, but they still charged me full price with tax of $70! I trust this place more than I would a jiffy lube, but charging full price is a little upsetting when I provided the filter and crush washer! read more

Great service, but really expensive. I brought my truck in to check out a coolant leak, they replaced the water pump and ended up finding more things to replace. The work they said would be done in a day ended up taking 3, and my truck had to sit there over the weekend. 85% of the large bill was labor, including $70 for a pressure test that most other shops would do for free. Again, great customer service, friendly, called me every step of the way, offered a loaner car or shuttle to pick me up. read more

I would not recommend this place to any one. I was very unhappy with the treatment that I received. I felt that they tried to take advantage of the fact that I am a disabled, elderly women and they figured they could scare me into taking services that I did not really need.
