We couldn't find lodging closer to the North Cascades NP entrance and were pretty bummed we'd be driving an hour each day to get there for hikes that already required us to be up at like 6am... but I'm telling you... it's worth it. This hotel was so clean and comfortable. I felt like we should've been paying more for how big the room was, how well-equipped (full size fridge, awesome when you are roadtripping with a cooler filled with food), a kitchenette, laundry facilities on-site, comfy beds, awesome continental breakfast in the morning, and honestly, just intentional thoughtful touches all around the whole hotel that kept making me comment to my husband, "this is SO nice." I should mention, we didn't interact with staff much because we were at the park all day... but staff who are in charge of getting breakfast out in the morning are hustling! We really appreciated that they had everything out at 7am sharp since there were a few times we were able to grab food before leaving for the NP. Thank you! We hiked 14 miles yesterday and would've been eating granola at the trailhead but got a hot delicious breakfast thanks to you!

We arrived in our big shred truck and the first thing I was asked by the front desk lady was if I had just arrived in the big truck and it was not saying in the parking lot over night right?!! Uhh ya, usually when you drive a vehicle to a hotel you park it in the parking lot. I was then told that usually when people drive larger vehicles they notify them ahead of time and so on. So she goes and gets the manager that proceeds to tell me multiple time people always call ahead (ok no need to keep telling me something that SHOULD have been done a long time ago) how all the rooms and parking spaces are all taken for the night and on and on. My husband then comes around and says that he will move it no problem. She proceeds to talk over him and keeps saying the same thing. At this point I am ready to just go to a different hotel because of how extremely rude they are. Now I have no problem owning up to I should have called ahead however I don't drive an oversize vehicle for my every day car so I didn't realize or even think of this issue. It was a Thursday night in May!! I get if you are just concerned about having enough space for all your guests but there is a way to approach and talk to people. My everyday job is scheduling and sales so I talk to people non stop and being rude is NEVER a way to talk to someone! That being said we left at 6:15am on Friday morning and our truck was taking up 1 and a quarter of another parking spot and in their two small parking lots there was at least 7 or 8 empty spots available!!! The room was nice and clean and the young man that assisted my husband with parking was very nice however my experience with the rude front dest lady and EXTREMELY rude manager will not have me going back! I'll take my business elsewhere!

Friendly staff and ample parking. Would definitely stay here again if in the area. We told the front desk and were offered a possible discount but at a later date- whatever that means? doesn't seem like follow through on that will happen. Room/Hotel & Staff: 4 out of 5 Stars. PROS - Literally every single person I came across was so genuinely nice and helpful. The hotel itself is way nicer in person than online. They need to take new pictures maybe. The room was surprisingly spacious and very clean. Loved that there was SO many towels and a nice little coffee machine. Overall very nice and cozy. CONS: We did love the big tub right in the room but was a little sad there's no actual jets in the tub. They call it a jacuzzi on their description so with that I assumed jets in the tub. The bed wasn't great, I didn't sleep very well and felt my hips hurt a little in the morning. Blankets felt very thin and cheap as well, I think I'd just bring my own blanket next time. No biggie. Casino: 4.0 out of 5 Stars. PROS: lots of great slot options, all the machines seemed very clean and maintained. If we ever had a slot that wasn't working properly it wouldn't take an attendant long at all to come right over and fix it very quickly. All casino staff seemed to be SO friendly and helpful. The Taco/Mexican restaurant is AMAZING. THE BEST carne asada over ever experienced in my life hands down. Also amazing frozen margaritas. I would go back just for this food. Ahh, Whispering Firs. A tale of two sides, if there ever was one. My wife and I stayed here…read morerecently and had some very good experiences and thoughts...but also had some very negative things as well. We had originally booked two nights, but because of the negatives we ended up staying just the first night and checked-out early. Here's the tale of the tape: The Good: - Linda and Vic (the innkeepers) are very nice. Extremely friendly and easy to talk to, Linda made us feel at home straightaway and was great company and conversation during breakfast. - Speaking of, the food was really good. We had blueberry cream cheese pancakes, bacon, and scrambled eggs for breakfast. Along side juice, fruit, and coffee/tea. Linda was also very accommodating toward dietary concerns too. - The property and view is gorgeous! Located up on a mountain area, Whispering Firs overlooks the valley and you can even see the Sound and Whidbey Island. - The house itself is warm, comfortable, and inviting. There's a beautiful deck on the backside that it multi-tiered and has a walking path around little ponds. This would be great for entertaining and lounging. The Bad: - To get there, you have to drive up a half-mile gravel road that is full of potholes and bumps. It's narrow and not something that a regular car can navigate quickly. Wish we had a 4x4 vehicle. - The bed in our room (the North Suite) was way too high. It sounds weird to say that, but at roughly 3 feet high, it was a struggle for my 8 month pregnant wife to literally climb in and out of. - There were no curtains on the windows...just blinds that didn't block out all of the light and sight lines. So, there was a big lack of privacy seeing as the windows looked out onto the deck. - This room is located right next to the breakfast room, so it is extremely loud in the mornings. Breakfast is normally served at 8:30, but our morning had a group that wanted to eat at 7:00. That meant at 6:30 things got rolling on the other side of the wall and we heard it all. Neither Good nor Bad, Just Depends on You Point of View: - There is a large collection of stuffed animals (the taxidermy type) throughout the house and bedrooms. A hunter's paradise...so may not be up your alley. All in all, this could be a lovely place to stay; but it just didn't suite us and fit our needs. For someone else, it might be perfect. In this review, I'm simply wanting you to be better informed that I was. Hope it helps.
