Bethanie is a great server. She went above and beyond to find pink and purple chocolate chips for 4 year old Lily's pancakes since they didn't have sprinkles. The bacon and cheese "burrito" (it was actually two soft tacos) was very good. The sausage gravy had an interesting taco flavor...not bad, just different and unexpected. The pancakes are very good. The children's plates are a great deal at $4 with large portions. Try to avoid sitting near the bathrooms since there is an objectionable odor at times. Some did not care for the sausage but it was pretty good when I added it to my tacos! The shrimp and grits were good after adding salt. read more

Definitely a quintessential diner! Counter service, breakfast all day, and a mom 'n' pop atmosphere. Our hostess and server were both super friendly and attentive and they were kind enough to lend us a pen for the morning crossword. I like to try corned beef hash when I go somewhere new, and although it did seem like it came from a can to be crisped up on the stovetop, the eggs were perfect and so were the home fries. My boyfriend got a chocolate chip waffle, and Eggs St. Augustine, which both looked great and considering he cleaned his plate, they must've tasted great, too. Overall, great little diner with friendly service and all of the expected staples. Just dinging a star for average corned beef hash and the prices being a tiny bit more steep than other diners nearby. read more

I thought this diner was great - my wife felt the decor seats/tables old paint and awning were off putting - I could care less the staff was the most efficient & friendly of any restaurant I've ever been to. The only area I feel they fell short was the food- I had the 2 pancakes, eggs and bacon. My pancakes were on the burnt tasting side and the scrambled eggs tasted like they were powdered eggs. Bacon- a bit to fatty and burnt for my liking. My husband on the other hand had a veggie omelette along with a biscuit and home fries- he loved it! Very good food. I had the waffle combo with eggs and bacon. The syrup bottle was clean, not one sticky drop on it. Everything came out exactly as we ordered. Staff was on point. I sat at the counter for breakfast and had a chance to meet and chat with the owner as he and his cook made my awesome veggie and ham omelette. The home fries are old school too! Boiled potatoes then grilled to crispy perfection. Damn good! Service was spot on and attentive to me and others. Sitting by myself at the counter I was able to pay attention to how all of the staff greeted each customer as they walked in. Good value for the enormous plate of food too. So... Go and enjoy. This was an excellent first breakfast on Anastasia Island. They had everything your breakfast heart can imagine. My group had pancakes, eggs many different ways and vegetables galore for vegetarians. We found the service awesome and extremely attentive. We loved their home fries and the bacon was cooked perfectly. The food here was delicious, service was beyond friendly and prompt and the prices were good. We came to St. Augustine for a family vacation, and found with 4 other breakfast restaurants we were unable to fit our stroller due to size of the restaurant, number of people inside, etc. We were a little hesitant, due to some reviews, but everything we ate was delicious. We ate (total, not just me) salmon sausage, French toast, bacon, sausage, homemade sausage, pancakes, biscuit, potatoes, cheese grits. The salmon sausage and homemade sausage are both must tries. Cheesy grits are super cheesy with cheese on top. Everything was cooked perfectly. Our waitress checked in with us and all her tables, asking specific questions about our food. Definitely will put on the list for the next time (we come to St. Augustine a few times a year.) read more

Food is AMAZING. We had the biscuits and gravy, Irish Benedict and club sandwich with steak fries. Absolutely delicious. I have a seafood allergy and they made sure to take care of me. The cook, Carlos even came and checked on me to make sure everything was ok. Which is super refreshing because most of the time people just don't want to deal with you when they hear "allergy". My only complaint, and the reason I didn't give 5 stars, is that our server didn't seem very knowledgeable about the menu. She was very sweet and attentive but when we asked her questions about the menu she literally said "I have no idea" twice in response. They sat us right away, but we waited for 20 minutes before the waitress came over to get our drink order and proceeded to tell us that the food would take at least half an hour because they just sat two large parties and they only had one cook. This place is kind of hidden in a strip center, but their food was very good. My wife had the shrimp and grits. She said they were the best she had ever had. The portion was huge and so were the shrimp. I had an omelette that was a good size and came with potatoes that were cooked perfectly. The parking is a little limited but plenty of seating inside. I'm amazed at the number of good reviews for this place! Seriously folks, you really need to stop rating a place based on the size of their portions. We had breakfast there and the coffee was cold, the eggs were overcooked and rubbery, and don't even get me started on the atmosphere. Whoever said it's like a NJ diner must be from south jersey ;), and I can't believe someone actually thinks this place is adorable! It's totally dated, and not in a 'retro-cutesy' way, but in a 'I'm old and nobody gives a crap anymore' kind of way. The absolute worst color of blue is on the dining room walls, the floors are depressing and overall the place looks like a stop on the Twilight Zone express. The only redeeming feature are the ceilings. To the owner(s), here's some free design advice: replace the flooring with black and white tiling (you can even go with vinyl to save $), get rid of that awful blue with either a bright yellow or red and continue that color theme throughout. Leave the wood work as is if you like but change up the upholstery throughout while you're at it. And what's up with the windows?? Did you somehow get the idea that black windows are a good look for a diner? This isn't a speakeasy guys. You're welcome. read more

Ok I'm local . I've eaten here before for breakfast about 6 months ago and it was very good . Today my wife picked up Roasted Turkey and Gravy with mashed potatoes for both of us . It was sliced sandwich meat turkey. Potato's were ok . Side salad was pretty basic. If I were at a hospital or high school cafeteria I wouldn't have been surprised. But as a diner you could do a better job . It was a complete let down. You put sandwich meat on sandwiches. Not as a turkey and gravy special. We won't be back for lunch .
