Ok I'm local . I've eaten here before for breakfast about 6 months ago and it was very good . Today my wife picked up Roasted Turkey and Gravy with mashed potatoes for both of us . It was sliced sandwich meat turkey. Potato's were ok . Side salad was pretty basic. If I were at a hospital or high school cafeteria I wouldn't have been surprised. But as a diner you could do a better job . It was a complete let down. You put sandwich meat on sandwiches. Not as a turkey and gravy special. We won't be back for lunch . Very friendly but the food is bland, except the biscuits and gravy had flavor. I'm gonna credit the experience to the fact that it was take out maybe but we where not impressed nor did we get any butter or syrup for the French toast or waffles. My husband and I LOVE this new adorable diner in the heart of St. Augustine Beach. We came in a few days after they opened and had the most amazing flounder reubens and southern style mac n cheese. We actually visited this diner two days in a row! The breakfast was on point. The staff were very nice and seated us quickly each time. On both visits, I ordered the Belgian waffle with a side of bacon. I don't know what it is about their bacon, but it's cooked to perfection. The waffle was delicious to the point I debated on ordering a second one! I normally don't drink coffee at restaurants but on both visits, I drank 2 cups. Their coffee is really good. It's not bitter and it tastes fresh. Their location is tucked away in a small shopping center. I'm glad because it wasn't crowded each time we visited. I'm not a big breakfast person, but wife is , so we found this place for breakfast on New Year's eve. Everything we had was great. The western omelet was just about perfect. The pancakes the kids had were fluffy and filling. Usually when I order grits somewhere they're either to watery or to thick and no flavor. These were about the best grits I've ever had. UPDATE: New Owners! Family business - Margarette was happy and efficient. Refreshing. Went with a restauranteur and we were both stunned at the difference. Sure they painted the walls but the proof was the service and food. Fresh, locally sourced tomatoes were delish, homefries to die for. Salad for me and eggs and corn beef hash "excellent" according to the pro. Highly recommend and the island needed a great breakfast place and they got it with Anastasia Diner!! From 2016- Only okay. Fruit for pancakes not fresh so they have to mix it with sugar and call it a compote or its canned. Really! St. Augustine has too many other better breakfast choices in the same price point and better coffee - Sea Oats, Manatee, Cafe 11, FA, Castille Real... All have great breakfast!!!! This was our first and won't be rushing back. No one taking names for Sunday brunch so you have to have sharp elbows to keep your place in line. It was beautiful weather and I would have gladly waited outside to lessen the stress and congestion at the door but could not for fear of loosing my place in line. read more

Was seated right away but put in the back near the restrooms which smelled awful and lingered around throughout the rest of our meal. Our waitress seemed nice once she came to take our drink orders after 15 minutes sitting there. We got an egg&cheese omelet with home fries, biscuit, and side of sausage gravy (which wasn't the best). And a banana chocolate waffle & ham egg cheese bagel. Had breakfast here with my son, husband and mother-in-law, and we were very disappointed. I was expecting so much better given the current 4.5 star rating on Yelp. Atmosphere and service were ok. The people are nice enough. We love grits, but these grits were inedible due to an off-putting taste -- a chemical, mineral taste (maybe the water?). Tasting (and smelling) them ruined the breakfast. Same problematic off-flavor thing with the biscuit per my mother-in-law. She found it inedible. My omelet was well cooked on the outside but runny on the inside. The potatoes were ok but they, too, had a weird flavor (maybe the oil?). While the sliced tomatoes were fresh and my son, husband, and mother-in-law enjoyed the pancakes, we would not recommend. read more

My girlfriend and I were in St. Augustine on vacation and decided to stop and eat breakfast here on the way out of town. I ordered the mary berry pancakes. They are probably the best pancakes I have ever had. The berries are very berryish if that makes sense. The strawberries are sweet, the cherries a bit tart, and the blueberries are at the right stage of ripeness. My gf ordered the chicken biscuits plate and said it was very good. They don't deserve even one star!!!The owners are very rude and they don't have any customer service skills. My husband and I came to this place for breakfast. We have 2 emotional support dogs,which are shar-peis. Before I went inside with them my husband went first and asked if they will allow us in with the dogs, one of the employees said that sure not a problem if they are service animals. We have been seated by the hostess and she said that the server will be right with us.Not a minute goes by this lady comes to our table with an attitude and asks me to show her a proof that my dogs are service,she was acting like a police officer.I know for a fact that it's illegal for her to ask.I pulled out my phone and showed her a digital copy of the id cards.Then she said you have to put it on the table (my phone with a screen on)as a proof of that my dogs are service animals. At this point I couldn't believe to my ears what I heard. After this it was enough, we thought this lady is just a server, but then when I told her that you have no rights to ask me for a ids and it's illegal for you to do it and that I want to talk to the owner-she said I am the owner!!!!!I AM LIKE REALLY???You are the owner and you are so mean and rude to people who are paying your bills???I don't want to sound like a racist or something like this because I am immigrant myself from Belarus and I love American culture for being so kind, hospitable and welcoming,this people the owner and her husband sound like Romanian and I don't understand why they are so angry .All we wanted to do is just to enjoy the food and put more money into their pockets.My dogs behaved better than them lol.And the funniest part of this story is that right after this incident happened my husband and I went to Metro diner where we were treated with respect and we shared the story with their manager, she said oh yeah the owners of Anastasia diner have been known in town for being ass.. s..!!! read more

We saw this on our way for a day of sightseeing and stopped on. Breakfast was very good. It was a bit pricey, but the portion sizes were huge. My husband and I shared one meal and we're both stuffed. We had the chicken and biscuits, which was fried chicken breast over biscuits and smothered with gravy. The gravy tasted homemade but not like a traditional sausage gravy. However, it was very good. Coffee and tea were both great. Service was a bit scarce but we were there at 9 am so maybe they don't staff much for that late in the breakfast. read more

Great surprise tucked away just over the 312 bridge onto the Island. We came for breakfast and it was outstanding! Just like Mom used to make - sausage gravy and biscuits were delicious, and the pancake was fluffy and flavorful! Bacon cooked to order - crispy but not overcooked! Great prices, too. Today was our first time at Anastasia diner. It has a big menu so it was hard to choose. My wife had pancakes and I had an omelette. Being a diabetic I can't eat bread, potatoes or grits so I had a meat and cheese omelette with Veggies and added thick and juicy links of sausage. It was delicious. We met the new owner Andy who recently moved to St. Augustine and bought the diner. Andy spent years in the restaurant business and it shows. Thanks for a great meal and great service.
