From the jump, Tony was courteous, attentive, and flexible. He really listened to what I wanted, thought about it, and executed. And even though I changed my palette a bit a few days before the wedding, he was totally flexible. He did a test run with me before the wedding and it was no big deal for him to show up at my place at 5 am (I needed to leave for City Hall at 7:45 am). I found Cherry on Yelp and messaged her just a few days ahead of the Tuesday night event. She responded with her quote and the relevant details, and after mulling over whether or not to spend the money, I secured the appointment with a deposit the night before. She only had a 1:00 slot available, but she was able to come to me, meeting me in my hotel room. She arrived right on time with an arsenal of beauty supplies. I liked her immediately. She was so friendly and energetic, and said flattering things about my skin, obviously music to my 39-year-old ears. I had a great time hanging out with her. She asked what I was looking for and I said I was walking a red carpet and just wanted to look good. She took me through her overall plan and started with my eye makeup, layering on colors and checking in to see if I was okay with the level of drama. I didn't know enough to weigh in and let her do her thing, and less than an hour later, I was fully dolled up. She even put fake eyelashes on top of my already fake eyelashes. To be honest, I was a little worried at first. I looked very dramatic for two in the afternoon, and I wondered if I'd let her go overboard. Once I was dressed and at the premiere, though, I felt fairly confident and comfortable and got lots of compliments. I walked the carpet, the second time I've done that in my life, and stood and posed awkwardly for a million photos. I've seen the pictures from both events and am really glad I got my makeup done this time around. The bolder makeup just worked better with those bright lights. I'm not professionally pretty (I'm a writer, which is, if anything, an ugly person's job) so it was fun to get my face painted and hang out with the attractive people who go to television premieres. The make brushes looked like they had been used for years. I told the make up/hair stylist that I DIDNT want a Smokey eye or anything dark. I also said I wanted gold eyeshadow. Which I didn't get, he did a Smokey eye and didn't use a speck of gold. They didn't use any disposable applicators even though they had them. He just went straight in with the mascara brush straight from the tube. The makeup looked so old and looked like they were in the same condition as the makeup brushes. Used a million times and for years. By the time my make up was done, starting over was not an option. I knew it would be a mad dash to do my hair. I watch the stylist use the same brush on 3 people including me. I saw no sanitizing Stations anywhere. The stylist next to me was no different. My hair was a mess. I was poked numerous times with the Bobby pins. I had to go back to my hotel and try to fix my hair because it was a mess. And I still had a pin pushing against my scalp. On top of that the price they quote you over the phone is more than double when it's time to pay. Crappy way to do business. I wish I could give zero stars.
