I got a suit for my wedding and... basically this place is the best place to buy new suits for all occasions. Its a father son team. They do not rip you off. They are locally family owned. They are not a chain. They have great prices, that often beat those chains. They are super smart. No pressure sales. They go out of their way to help you. The tailoring is also super professional. One of my favorite businesses/ retail shops that i have ever experienced in my life. Anatoly's is great for women who want to wear suits too. I came here with my friend to have a waistcoat made to fit me, and it was a pleasant experience. The staff here are friendly, knowledgeable, tasteful, and enthusiastic about making something a little different. FYI, they have LOTS of fabrics to choose from, including linings that come in bright colors with holographic effects. I tend towards subdued color schemes, but I was sorely tempted by so many of the options. The prices for fabrics and tailoring are completely reasonable. It's about on-par with buying something from a high-end store, but the difference is you can get something really special here. For those who like to know their clothes aren't made by unethical mega-companies and prefer to buy local, getting a suit from Anatoly's will also feel good. read more

I was looking to buy a new suit and found Anatoly's shop through this site. I took a friend along and we were happy to find that the great reviews weren't exaggerating. Anatoly knows his craft, and has a decent selection of Men's Wear. I went in expecting to buy one suit, and came out with two, tailored to fit me better than any other suit I've owned. I've left my email on his mailing list and definitely plan on shopping there again. My one small complaint would be with his shirt and tie selection - they're flashier than I like, BUT it was the end of the season and he let me know that he had more coming in. These guys are great. I have been coming here for years. It started when I lost about 30 lbs and I needed some suits taken in.... and a LOT. He did a fantastic job. I also take all the suits I buy else where for alterations at Anatolys. He get the pants right EVERY time. Even Nordrstrom can't do that. He is truly a man's tailor and does everything with old work craftsmanship. Oh, they also sell suits too. I bought a nice Bironi suit there. It fits great and looks good too. Came in for a watch battery and came out with a new suit... I stopped in to 1ne Watch Repair (which is housed n Anatoly's) to get a new battery for my watch. Started browsing the suits and the folks at Anatoly's were so helpful (and not at all pushy), the suits were so nice and they were priced so right that I couldn't resist. Got a great deal on a sport jacket, pants and tie combo for an upcoming wedding. I think I may treat myself to a bespoke suit for my birthday next year. this place was great! When my man outgrew his o-l-d suit, he was frankly overwhelmed and confused by the prospect of selecting and buying a new one. Suits are NOT his style. But the dude at this shop walked us through it, helped us find 2 suits that made my man look line a million bucks, AND cost less than the crap we had seen at the men's wearhouse. He's got a great sense of style, and he really helped a suit-hater find something he could live with, afford, and that would make mom proud. He does the alterations himself, he knows the fabric and how it's going to hang on you. He even threw in a shirt, tie, and pair of socks with each suit, cuz we bought 2. I've gotten a couple jackets tailored by the guys over at Anatoly's, and hadn't felt compelled to leave a review until this week. They've always done a great job, but they went FAR above and beyond for me. I had a last-minute wedding invitation pop up for this Saturday and realized my suit was in dire need of tailoring - brought it in on Monday hoping that, at best, they may be able to make a couple very basic alterations to help me out. Long story short, they took care of everything - took in the chest of the jacket, the seat of the pants, tapered the legs, and it all came out looking phenomenal. Best of all, they did it quickly enough to take it to get dry-cleaned for me in time for me to pick it up before my flight for the wedding on Friday. All in all, I'm blown away by both the quality of the work they did and the service I received, I HIGHLY recommend Anatoly's for any of your alterations needs, and I'll be going to them exclusively in the future. read more

I found this great sports coat that was a little too big for me so I went to this spot based on reviews and the fact that it was close by. I don't know the guys name but he did a great job on bringing in the mid section and adjusting the buttons so that the coat now fits great. Cost $45 because the coat had a few extra things to work around but I think it was money well spent. Also the shop has some unique clothing, alot of it is a bit too flashy for me, but there are some clean, very unique pieces that you won't see anyone else wearing, I honestly can not think of any other place in Oakland that has the kinds of styles he carries, worth checking out if your into flashy gear or sleek Italian designs. read more

My daughter kept pulling up the tongue of her basketball shoes. For some reason, they didn't have the stitching where you can lace the shoe string through so it holds the tongue in place. Anatoly's were able to add that stitching for her. It was done very quickly too, just in time for her basketball tournament.! read more

I needed some pants hemmed and a patch sewed on a shirt. Why I waited until the last minute is a different story.. I turned to yelp and as always was able to find help. As a short Asian guy (5'5, 140lbs), I was having a VERY difficult time finding suits that flattered me. I went to the usual places first (Nordstrom, Macys etc) but didn't find anything that flattered or that I could afford. I ended up here based on my sister's fiance's recommendation and I was not disappointed! The first time I came in, I had brought one of my suits to see if he could tailor it. I tried it on and immediately, he told me that it was too big!! I told him it was a 36 short (the smallest size) but he said "you need a 38 slim fit." Now, I had never heard of a 38 slim fit and I thought that might be too big but he said "trust me." Fast forward 2 weeks later and my suits came in and I was impressed! Everything was exactly as I wanted...the jackets fit me perfectly along the sides...they weren't too long, the sleeves just grazing the top of my wrist bone, while my pants had the perfect break on top of my shoes. Just to give you an idea of his breadth of knowledge, you can tell Tony if you want a "full break" "no break" or "military break" and he will know what you are talking about. One of my requests was to have the pants a little wider than originally spec'd. The pants originally came with legs that measure 8 inches across. I told Tony that I thought that made my legs look too narrow (and would really make my shoes seem too long). So I asked him to make the legs to 9 inches. I didn't think he could do it since it didn't seem there was enough material but he came through! As I was trying on my suits today, I just couldn't stop telling him how happy I was! My quest to find, good fitting, good quality and AFFORDABLE suits is now over. I have found my place! I will certainly buy 3-4 more to revamp my entire suit wardrobe. I highly recommend Tony! Tony might be a good tailor, but my experience is buying his menswear. First, he tried to sell me a suit with a defective collar, then ordered me a blazer that was too small. After convincing me that it fit, Tony altered it for me. After taking it home, I determine that the drape was awkward and returned it. He offered to sell it for me, but didn't offer me a credit. Times are tough, but you have to do the right thing. Caveat emptor! read more

Excellent service. Tailored my pants. Told me a little bit about other suits and fabrics but did not push me to buy anything whatsoever. My dog chewed up the cord to my iron so he ironed my dress shirt when I came to pick up my pants. He even tied my tie 3 times to get the correct length set to my belt. Went in to have a suit tailored and also have a hole repaired in my suit. The suit was tailored correctly but the hole was still there. I called and asked if they had missed it and they said it wasn't on my receipt for list of services. I told them the hole is marked that it needed to be repaired by one of their employees. The man said I can bring it back in to get done (after I drove an hour to pick it up) and I need it for an important event tomorrow so that isn't an option. I appreciate the quick turnaround but won't be going back. read more
