I saw her create these wonderful henna designs on the people ahead of me. Of course, I saw the designs that she did for the bride and groom the day before. When it was my turn, she was great. She had a chart with around 25 designs along with a postcard with her info, and another piece of paper with instructions and her contact info. The instructions were very helpful for a newb like me. It helps because everyone seems to have an opinion even if they don't come from the culture, and those opinions are usually wrong. (I'll leave my Columbusing dig at that.) As a cultural newb, it was a great experience.

Even though I already had a mehndi (henna) artist…read morelined up at the time (or so I thought), my mom insisted I stop at her booth and find out more about her business. It was lucky that I did, as the mehndi artist I initially approached via email turned out to be flaky. (Surprising, considering her slick website and numerous positive Yelp reviews). This other artist was also at Vivah, but after speaking with me there, didn't remember my name at all even though we corresponded a few times over email. The other artist ended up doing a trial at Vivah and told me to follow up with her. After doing so, I only received a response two months later in the form of an automated email containing a link to the contract. At that point, I was done. I immediately reached out to Ravie, who was a breath of fresh air. While she didn't respond immediately to all emails, she did so within a reasonable time, and always consistently. She sent me a detailed email containing pricing, what to expect, after care, etc. She also invited me for an in-home consult, during which I told her that I wanted a simple design with more negative space. She quickly made a sketch for future reference. During my actual mehndi session, she recalled everything we discussed without prompting and went to work. She is a kind person, but does have a very dry sense of humor, so be prepared for that! I followed her care instructions and my mehndi turned out super dark and intricate! I received countless compliments on my mehndi from desis and non-desis, including another mehndi artist. If you want a talented AND reliable mehndi artist, then contact Ravie now. She's been in the industry for a while and gets booked up to a year in advance!

Swati had done my cousin's bridal mehendi in April 2019. When I saw it, I knew I HAD to have Swati…read moredo mine when I got married. Fast forward a few years - my wedding happened in April 2023. I held my mehendi party 3 days before my wedding ceremony. I was SHOCKED at how dark it came out by the time of my wedding! Swati is very professional and punctual. On the day of the mehendi party, she came, quickly set up, and got to work. My mehendi took around 7-8 hours to get done (hands up to the elbows, and feet up to a bit below the knee), and Swati did not complain once during that time. I was so impressed at how focused she was during the time. She is also very sweet and kind, and we had pleasant conversation while I was getting it done. I had asked her for peacocks at the top of my design, a paw print with my dog's name, told her I liked reverse negatives and a symmetrical design, but other than that I let her do whatever she wanted. I HIGHLY recommend it, she is a true artist and came up with the most beautiful and intricate designs. It was stunning. By the time of my wedding, it was EXTREMELY dark. I got so many comments (especially from the in-law's side of the family) that it was the darkest they had ever seen. I took extra care though to do the post-mehendi care and maintenance that Swati had recommended - it's well worth it (warming your hands on both sides over the stove, Vasoline and coconut oil, avoiding water, keeping it on overnight, etc). She had also applied a lemon mixture during the day of my mehendi to make it dark. It also lasted so long, it took almost a month for all of it to come off, and was still extremely visible 2 weeks after (especially the feet/legs) I cannot recommend Swati enough, she is amazing!

I learned that she honed her craft in Bombay (I can't bring myself to say Mumbai :-) ... and has well over a decade of experience. It shows because she absolutely knows what she's doing. Her demeanor and presence is not only confidence inspiring, she is a human well worth entrusting whatever body part you're giving yourself over for the henna package lol :) I had never ever in my 61 years, ever had henna done and was stoked, besides myself and excited to supernaturally epic proportions to get it done! I barely could sleep the night before and had no idea what it would be like. What I especially appreciate about Swati is her focus and of course, steady hand! She's not distracted nor casual about her process, she's conscientious and pays such close attention to detail ... she took the time to ask questions about what I wanted, and because it was my first time (henna virgin is how I referred to myself :-), I didn't have a lot of requirements, just a few. and during the process, she inquired several times to make sure I was gonna be happy. She also reviewed instructions plus a stack of her cards, on the back, gives clear directions for henna aftercare, which I followed to a T, and boils--below are photos immediately after the henna application, and also 18 hours (overnight) later! She's super speedy and can finish a full hand of henna in 5-10minutes max - which is BRILLIANT! I've seen her work at an engagement and a bridal party now and both times most of the people were very satisfied. She's great with kids too and adds glitter for them during evening parties as well. I posted pictures of the front and back of my hands as they looked 48 hours after the henna application. For the full hands on both the left and right palm she charges $25 and for the full hands + veils on the back of the hands = $40. It came out pricey, but the henna darkened really well the next day and I only had it on about 4 hours. My only reason for docking a star is that the henna I use is much thinner than what she uses. I think the thinner henna honestly looks a lot better once the color has set in. My hands looked gorgeous when the henna was still drying on them, but now that it's just the color, I'm not as happy with the design/style. It's all relative though depending on your taste, so you can see the pictures and judge for yourself :) She's definitely worth hiring if you're looking to throw henna party for a good price and get reliable and quick service to please all your guests!

My friend found Amulya on Instagram, and I was blown away by her beautiful and versatile designs! We messaged each other on Instagram, got on a phone call, and we eventually settled on a date, time, and location for the venue. This was my first time hiring anyone I had discovered through Instagram, so I wasn't sure what to expect, but things turned out very smoothly. Amulya asked for a deposit via Venmo to secure the date- I paid the rest with cash. I had initially hired her to be at the party for two hours at a park, but she was VERY popular with the never-ending line of 20+ excited kids (and many adults!) who wanted henna on their both hands that we happily extended her stay to three hours! Amulya arrived on time, was friendly, and got to work right away.
