Another great experience here!!! My favorite pho place in Buffalo. I cannot say enough good things. Small and quaint but clean and they keep all toppings and sauces well stocked. A hidden gem!!

Wow, what an amazing meal. I LOVE Vietnamese food, and Anchi A LA Carte did not disappoint at all. The fresh ingredients and herbs were outstanding, and it's tough to find a place that gives you all the traditional toppings. We ordered a pork banh mi, a beef lemongrass vermicelli dish, garlic cream cheese bread, and spicy beef pho. All were cooked perfectly, and the beef pho broth had a deep beef flavor with just the right amount of spice. The vermicelli dish was full of flavor, and I loved all the fresh cilantro and basil. The garlic bread was good but not something I would regularly order. It had more of a breakfast danish dough consistency that was tasty but a little dry. We loved the food here and I highly recommend it. That pho broth was so good and I want a gallon of it!

this is one of my go to Vietnamese restaurants in the area. a smaller restaurant that is tucked away in the AMC, tea leaf plaza. my go to order is the bun bo hue (sometimes with pho noodles instead of the traditional vermicelli) and a thai green tea. the garlic bread is also super yummy to share as an appetizer! the soup is usually always super flavorful and have good portions as well. they have cucumber/lemon water available for people at a little self serve station and the servers are also very welcoming and orders come up pretty fast. would recommend to anyone who loves viet food!

The food is incredible here and the prices are decent! The waitstaff was extremely accommodating and gave us suggestions on what to order. I absolutely loved my experience here. It's a small restaurant, but we got lucky and had a beautifully set up table for ourselves. It's quiet and warm in there, which made me comfort and happy. I suggest getting their Vietnamese iced tea. Come here with friends or family and you'll have a marvelous time. Just don't bring a huge group as there probably won't be room for you.

The food was good. Service was fast. We were never offered a drink (we did see some cups and a water dispenser by the door on our way out). The place was filthy! There were so many good reviews so we were surprised at how filthy the place was. I would not go back as we were worried if it was that dirty out from what did their kitchen look like? The one star was because the food was good. I couldn't get past the filthy conditions.

Greetings were friendly as soon as we stepped in. I was interested in a different fare than I normally find. My son and I had the pork belly and the trio meat banh mi sandwiches on excellent crispy shell soft inside rolls with a side of egg roll. Really enjoyed the dipping sauce. Could have used more. Dining room and bathroom were nicely clean. The store front really blends in to the building but it is there and open. Worth the effort to find.

Ah .... the Vietnamese ice coffee with a twist!

I was in the area and craved some noodle soup. The waiter recommended spicy lemongrass beef noodle soup and it did not disappoint. It was a nice change from my usual. I also ordered Vietnamese ice coffee. They have a twist in it too. They added a bit of jelly and it was nice to have e a bit of slightly chewy jelly with the very strong and sweet coffee. Just the right drink after the noodle. I look forward to coming back to try other items. I also like their imitation bread display at the window. It made me want to try their banh mi with grilled pork. The service is surprisingly good. They even held up my coffee till after I finished my noodle soup because I asked for the coffee in to-go cup. Nice touch!

So, after longer than expected, we finally made it back here. We had friends visiting from out of town and knew they'd enjoy this place. I can tell you that the me u is much larger than our 1st visit. So many delicious dounding choices. We all ordered different items. My husband got Vietnamese pork noodle soup which included pork, shrimp, quail eggs, amongst other items. The definite star on the table! Also ordered was shrimp pho, and 2 different noodle dishes. Everything dish tasted even better than they looked! All with super fresh ingredients that were cooked properly and loaded with flavor. The seating is limited and certainly not fancy. Certainly very clean. There's only a handful of tables. We were the only customers eating inside. Several people came in to pick up takeout. Service was good. Excellent meal. 2023-59

    13. Special Pho - Pho dac biet
    Lisa H.

We ordered take out -- special pho/pho dac biet and spicy beef noodle soup/bun bo hue. The special pho was very sweet. It was not bad but just not the flavor profile we are used to. We are from Northern California and our parents are from Vietnam, so it is pretty hard for us to find the kind of pho we like outside of CA. The spicy beef noodle soup was more like pho with siracha. It was still tasty and I finished it but not in love with it. The noodles were extremely over cooked :( Sadly, not likely to come back for pho or BBH but we will come and try other things like their vermicelli, rice bowls, and banh mi :)

I was excited to come to Anchi a La Carte with friends as I'd only ever done take-out before. Their take-out food has always been fresh, fast and delicious so I excited to try dining in! Anchi a la carte has a small, cafe vibe with home-y decor. They offer a variety Vietnamese dishes and desserts. The menu seemed to be a bit different and offer different dishes/desserts than other Vietnamese restaurants in the area. The staff very attentive and quickly took our order. I went with the hot plate / baguette and a Vietnamese coffee. We also got a free garlic bread since our party had spent over $30 which was so nice! The hot plate came out sizzling and warm and the iced coffee was tasty and super refreshing. The hot plate also came with a baguette that I was able to put the meat and egg on to create my own sandwich! I've also had their pho and pork belly as takeout which was some of the best pho I've had in town! Overall we had a pleasant experience at Anchi a la carte with tasty food and next time I can't wait to try more of the unique Vietnamese desserts they offer!

Was craving Vietnamese food and saw this spot has a lot of good reviews. To start, water is self serve, there's orange infused water or lime infused. The Vietnamese coffee is pretty strong and the cream made it unique. I enjoyed this as it's pretty different than what we have in Canada. We order the beef pho, rice bowl with crispy pork belly, and the vermicelli with grilled beef. The beef pho was standard and what I expected. The crispy pork is pretty crunchy and taste good. The skin was a tad vid hard though. The vermicelli had a great portion of meat and noodles and vegetables. I wished there was a little bit more radish though and if the fish sauce was a bit more sweet and sour. Overall, this spot is good to drop by. There's not much Vietnamese restaurants around here and this one is the most authentic I've seen in buffalo.

Saw an article about this place or I never would have known it existed. If I was standing 15 feet from the door I wouldn't have either. Tucked away in a plaza near AMC Theatre with next to no signage indicating what it was.... The food was outstanding! Only my 3rd or 4th dabble into Vietnamese food and this will be my go to for it going forward. Prices were super reasonable and portions were nice too. Wife loved the Pho, Bahn Mi was incredible, crispy pork belly spring rolls were great. First time trying the Vermicelli bowl and I thought it was amazing. Hot chili oil sauce on the table was ... I highly recommend you give this cute little local restaurant a try when your in the Northtowns. Sorry about the menu pics. Forgot until I was walking out.

Service was quick, and our food came out hot and fresh shortly after we ordered. We shared everything family-style, including the pan-fried pork and chive dumplings, crab and pork xiao long bao, and the OG peanut noodles with chicken. Everything was delicious, but the xiao long bao was easily the highlight. The dumpling skin was the perfect thickness, and you could really taste the crab in the filling. The prices were also very reasonable, especially compared to other dumpling spots I've been to that cost more without matching the quality. I'd definitely come back the next time I'm in the area!

When walking in, you order on a large screen and seat yourself. Unfortunately to order on the screen it charged us a $3 "NYC online ordering fee" which was very odd (in addition to sales tax) - in addition the screen also asks you for a tip before you even sit down! But we weren't given any other way to order besides the screen which was a turn off with an extra fee involved My date and I ordered the creamy tonkatsu and creamy broth with pork. Overall, the ramen wasn't terrible, but it really lacked a home style ramen flavor and was not hot. This may be something I've never said, but they brought the ramen out in less than 5 minutes which makes me think the ingredients aren't fresh. There were no additional sauces or anything at the table to add flavor to the ramen. I also wouldn't describe it as a creamy broth at all. We also ordered the takoyaki which to me seemed like a frozen variety. We also each got a bubble tea which was not anything special. It was surprising they didn't have a taro slush option. The server did bring out the food to us, but the extra "online" fee when ordering was a bit of a turn off in addition to the lackluster ramen. Overall I probably don't see a compelling reason to come back.

We walked in on a Sunday afternoon around 2pm after seeing all the hype Stepout Buffalo gave this place on IG. We were greeted by someone quickly where she tried explaining how it works - order on a giant touch screen which was simple enough. Didn't love the fact that they ask you for the tip before you even sit down but that's the way this country works these days (spoiler alert: the service was not worth the 20% aka $20 we tipped) The seaweed salad was a bit slimy but generally not bad. The gyoza were excellent, would def order again. So was the pork bao. The meat was perfectly breaded and seasoned and cooked to perfection, and the sauces that went with it were delicious. This is kind of where the greatness ended. Onto the ramen (the main reason we were there), the noodles were honestly not bad but that's pretty much the best part. The soup was non existent and cold by the time you get to it - I think it has to do with the fact that all the vegetable toppings are mostly cold. The broth was also super salty (with no real flavor), I think to make up for the fact that the toppings not being well seasoned (my bean sprouts were completely flavorless). The breaded pork again was good, but I didn't like how it sat in the soup and got soggy, perhaps it should have been served separately on a plate? The grilled sliced pork belly was good and flavorful. I've had ramen all over Japan so believe me when I tell you the broth is not authentic nor is it good, which kinda ruined the entire dish. Our drinks were overpriced and very average tasting. The boba was too mushy but I am from Taiwan, so I guess I have high standards when it comes to boba. All in all, a VERY expensive lunch where neither of us enjoyed our entree (ramen), and given that we live in the southtowns, it's unlikely that we will ever return, even if the gyoza and pork bao were very tasty. As a final note, the atmosphere sucked. The workers talked and giggled very loudly the entire time as if no one understood what they were saying (unfortunately for them, I understood every word). FYI - This place is NOT Japanese despite its Japanese name.

So, when in the area recently I did…read moresome research and this place came up as being probably the most authentic in the Buffalo and Niagara areas, so I went for lunch. Sure enough, their menu is legit, filled with many of the recognizable delicacies you won't find at the ordinary Chinese-American joints. Entering the place is odd, they have a weather barrier (those plastic slats) hanging from the door after you open the glass door - very odd placement of them. Inside is rather small and simple, not decorated much, it's truly a carry-out place that provides table service too. Service was decent, far from fancy. I decided to try their cumin beef and an order of scallion pancakes. The cumin beef came out first and though I asked for it to be spicy, it most definitely was very mild. The flavor was a little bland overall and this is typically a dry-wok'd type of stir fry with more oil and less sauce, but mine was slightly saucy and lacking flavor completely. The scallion pancakes looked and tasted decent. Perhaps if I ordered something different I would have enjoyed the food more. I still recommend stopping in if you're seeking authentic Chinese, I'm sure they have some great dishes here.

The cashier was a little gruff, but the woman running back and forth between the kitchen and the front had a better business sense about keeping customers happy. She didn't want me to wait long, so I think she rushed the kitchen a little bit, which I appreciated, but also may have led to some of the demerits on the food I mention below. I was happy to see one dish I ordered, the pig intestine with fish, on their picture board above the cash registers. That gave me confidence that they knew what they were doing and it was the best dish by far out of the three I ordered. The intestine was fresh and flavorful, the spice level was high, but also not too salty. It was a lot of food. Only drawback here was the fish (tilapia?) seemed to be heavy on the breading. The other two dishes were disappointing. Penang curry with pork had good vegetables, but the sauce had too little flavor since they went too heavy on the coconut milk. The pork seemed like chicken, not pork. Way too soft and flavorless. The Singapore Chow Mei Fun had good noodles and veggies. But the curry powder was not blended in. Eating it, I could still feel it in powder form. It was also far too oily. Overall, I think they had a lot of options but next time I'd steer more towards classic Chinese, since that seems to be what they do well. I hope next time the flavors will be stronger and blended better (i.e. powders actually stirred in). I'm willing to give them another chance, since they do have a lot of dishes I like. Last note: the online ordering service does not indicate that dishes come with rice. I thought they would have rice by default, but then when I added the penang curry to my cart, it asked whether I wanted rice or noodles or something else. So that made me think I had to order rice separately, which meant I had twice as much rice as I needed. It also said "quart of white rice" was sold out, but "pint of white rice" was not, yet the rice that came with my meal came in a quart container.

We were seated right away. We did have reservations, but we didn't see anyone waiting all night. We got lots of appetizers to split amongst the table: the mushroom dumplings, cucumber salad, one of each of the fresh rolls, 1000 broccoli, and some type of bread with cheese that I'm actually not sure what it was called and after looking at their menu again I can't find it, but I'm attaching a picture for reference. I would absolutely get the bread and the broccoli again. Those were our tables favorites. Everything else was still delicious. I got the chicken and broccoli lomein, large size, medium spice. The spice level was great. The portion size was very generous and I took home leftovers. I will say they do charge you $3 for the large size to get a mix of chicken and broccoli so be aware of that. The waitress did warn us which I appreciate. I did enjoy the lomein noodles. I tried our friend's hand cut noodles and udon. They were all great and everyone enjoyed their meal. Our waitress was super kind and helpful. With a large group she handled us very well. She even split the bill multiple ways which we appreciated since I know that can be a pain. They forgot our friend's rice dish so she sat there for a while with no meal while the rest of us ate. After a while we notified the staff and they apologized and brought it out quickly and even took it off her bill without her asking which I was very impressed with. Most places would not do that. They did also charge .50 for going up a spice level which was interesting but not a huge deal. Also be prepared to sit for a while. We were a large group so understandable things take a while. We were there for a total of 2 hours and 45 minutes and that was just from the time we sat until we got the check. It seemed like our waitress was in charge of most of the restaurant. Besides those few things that went wrong I thought the service and quality of food made up for it.

Second time being here…read more Ambiance- Perfection, hidden gem, very clean, large seating never crowded. Service- Very attentive, never felt like I was waiting too long or too little. Service was prompt and to the point. Very respectful staff Food- Had many of the sushi rolls Rainbow, Chopper, kamikaze and Akazaru. Every single roll was amazing and full of taste. I don't know where they get their fish from but it is some of the freshest fish I've had in the area. Also had the spicy miso ramen which was another perfectly made meal. The spice was full of taste but not so hot that it took away from the meal 10/10 restaurant.

I say this as a former sushi chef as well as someone who has been to over two dozen sushi…read morerestaurants in 7 different states. -Sushi rice was bland and slightly dry. Needed more sushi vinegar. If the ingredients are measured out, which they said it was when I pointed it out, then this should never have be an issue. -Garnish, specifically the lettuce on the sushi plate was old, mushy, and unappealing. They should have left it off the plate if that was all they had left. Sushi is about presentation more so than most food and this was not done well. -Miso soup. This was not traditional miso soup. I know there are miso soup with daikon as an add on, but there's usually wakame in it. There was no enoki mushroom either like it says on their menu. The ones I uses to make, and all the sushi restaurants I've been to were the traditional tofu, wakame and diced green onions. Have that as a first option since more widely known, and make the daikon as a second option. Also, miso broth was bland. Needed more bonito flakes. Equipment - you guys need to periodically check your tables and chairs for damage. When I grabbed my chair by the seat to scoot myself closer to the table the seat came off. Need to balance out the portions of ingredients in your rolls. California roll needed more imitation crab. There was too much cucumber and avocado. You guys need to focus more on quality and presentation instead of having a ton of different roll on your menu. When you are pricing your sushi like a mid-high end restaurant, the quality and presentation needs to match. I read the reviews on this place and thought all the kinks would have been worked out by now, but it seems not. We didn't try out the other non-sushi dishes they had on their menu, so we have no opinions on them. I am one of the few who will not be coming here again for sushi.

Spring rolls were perfectly savory, fresh and a perfect crunch with every bite. The customer service was AMAZING. If I could use one word to describe the food I would say EXCEPTIONAL. I would've posted pictures but I couldn't stop eating.

I really like Vietnamese cuisine, and this place has a very high rating. Our original plans fell through, and this restaurant was nearby and had long been on my list of places to try. Not only was our food very tasty, but the whole experience made me feel satisfied from all angles. After ordering our meals at the counter and paying the bill, no one disturbed us. Only, I believe Pham, came to our table once, and asked whether everything was good. Yes! Thank you for the yummy food:). I had a sip of the beef pho broth, and it was oh! so good. Of course, my partner would prefer more like Phở Đặc Biệt version with all kinds of meets and beef parts. Pham's didn't include the tendon and tripe, but his feedback was very positive anyway. My Grilled Shrimp Vermicelli was a beautiful dish. I smiled at my plate, and then I couldn't stop eating until everything had disappeared into my stomach :). Their Vietnamese Vinaigrette could have been more 'fishy', but still, no complaints. The dining area felt cozy and truly inviting. I am sure this is also thanks to the staff, who were very friendly and smiling. I really liked that.
