As noted before by others, atmosphere is not why we go here; we go for the food. The shrimp fresh rolls were large, flavorful and filling. the chili sauce that accompanied them had just the right amount of heat. Choosing a main was difficult because so many choices were appealing. Both of us ended up ordering the same main dish, a thai stir fry. The vegetable one included broccoli, bell peppers, choi san, onions, snow peas, green beans, mushrooms, carrots, and was served with white rice on the side. Plentiful and yummy. read more

The atmosphere isn't much, but I had a hankering for larb. This was the only thai restaurant I could find in the north Buffalo area that had it on the menu. I also got the veg samosa appetizer. The samosas were pretty tasty. But the larb was a great disappointment -- flavorless and I also had to ask for lettuce (isn't that the standard way to eat it?). I then asked for fish sauce & lime, but even that didn't lift the flavors. Badly needs lemongrass & galangal at a minimum. Don't judge a book by its cover! That's what I think of when I see this place. The outside doesn't look inviting at all. The inside is very basic. So you don't come here for the ambiance or decor. You come here for the food. We stopped here for a late lunch & were the only customers. Though a few people did stop in while we were eating to pick up orders. I ordered Pad Thai, and my husband got sesame chicken. The Pas Thai was honestly one of the best I ever had. The noodles were cooked perfectly. We were in the area and wanted to try something new. Atmosphere wise, this little restaurant doesn't offer much. Its a very quiet restaurant with a humble couple of tables. Not much decor wise, and a few holes patched up with duct tape. Looks a little rundown, but the staff are kind and polite, and the food is amazing! They warned us about how long the food would take and we happily waited. Food ordered- Honeydew Bubble Tea: The tea tasted amazing. Was sweet and chilled and was a really refreshing drink. Bobas were just okay, but the tea was worth it Fried Veggie Dumplings: They were crispy and delicious! The dumpling sauce provided really tied the flavor together. Crab Rangoons: 12 small crispy puff balls that offer just the right amount of crab filling. The sauce provided had a very tiny zing to it but it was very good! Coconut Soup: I hate soup but my friend wanted me to try. It was a very nice, sweet, creamy soup with a slight flavor of coconut. I actually really enjoyed it and was surprised I did! Fried Shrimp Roll: Had to close with some sushi, and they really made this well! It tasted super good and I would definitely get this again. A friend told about this restaurant so a friend of mine and me decided to give it a shot. When I pulled up to the place my friend was standing outside. The neighborhood looked pretty bad and the restaurant shabby from the outside. He wanted to go somewhere else so I looked up their Yelp reviews. After reading the positive reviews we decided to give them a shot. Dive's don't bother me if they have good food. I'd rather pay less for good food without the high prices charged for fancy decor. We started with fried egg rolls and fresh rolls with shrimp both were good. The peanut sauce was just average. I had the Pad Thai and he had the Burmese fried rice with shrimp. Most definitely this is a family restaurant operated by a wonderful couple who really care about the food they prepare. The menu offers a wide range of Burmese and Thai dishes at very reasonable prices. They tend to spice on the mild side, so if you want more flavor, be sure to mention that when you order. There is seating in the restaurant, and they do a considerable amount of take-out. Dining here is very casual. As you can see from the many reviews that the food is generally excellent. This is my first time at this place. When I walk in, there are no guests sitting down so i was alone and the owner well who i think is the owner came out of the kitchen and thought I had ordered something. I eventually ordered something and he himself took the order and then went back to the kitchen. So he is a chef and he a cashier and does delivery by himself! Much respect and I gave him a small tip . Place is small. I don't think there are any bathrooms in there though I never got up to check. So for the atmosphere I'm giving it a 3 star. It isn't bad but just very empty therefore kinda uninviting. I ordered the beef curry which comes with white rice, pork dumplings, cheesecake, and a strawberry smoothie. Smoothie was definitely real as in they used real strawberries and it wasn't drowned in fructose syrup. With that being said, it wasn't super sweet, but just right especially with the food I ordered. Very hardy food i ordered. It was refreshing and a nice texture so that is a mega plus! The dumplings were also good and savory. Dunno what kind of sauce that was but if it was soy sauce, it definitely wasn't your typical soy sauce. It wasn't super salty and sour. It was comforting really! The Beef curry was hardy and good and had a wonderful sweet aroma to it too, but there definitely needed to be more sauce. The curry was more so big chunks of beef than anything else. It The cheesecake was good. They didn't have strawberry or raspberry sauce so they'd used chocolate sauce. The cheesecake itself was thick and it wasn't really cold so I'm wondering if it was a fresh batch or whatever i dunno but it wasn't too rich for me to not be able to finish it all so I love that. Everything was good. I don't really have any complaints. I will be back but next time I may just do take out or bring a friend who likes Thai food cuz being alone kinda sucked a little bit you know. Forget the neighborhood (terrible) and the interior ambience (none) , this food is the bomb. I had wonton ramen soup with pork slices. Obviously the wonton were homemade. This was a spectacular dish. My husband had the pad se ew with chicken. He devoured it. As I said, be brave and try this restaurant. Prices are reasonable and portions are big. The pad Thai was flavorful and the medium spice level was what I expected (definitely want to go back for hotter levels). There was a good amount of chicken in the dish and the noodles were not over cooked. The wontons were wontons and came with a sweet-and-sour sauce basically something I've had it lots of other restaurants but that wasn't a bad thing because they tasted great. I ordered my meal to-go so I can't comment on the dine-in service, but the staff were prompt and attentive when I came to grab my order and it look like a pleasant place to grab a quick meal. This place has a ton of potential. The food is delicious! If you're limited on time, you may need to call ahead. The menu is robust and they seem to have all of the Thai and Burmese favorites. So many options made it hard to choose and I was already planning my next trip before I placed my order. During my first visit, I went with coworkers. I made it a point to order something I had never tried before. I rarely play it safe. The inexpensive menu made it easy to venture out. I ordered the Burmese noodle salad. The flavors were AMAZING! Luckily, my coworkers allowed me to taste their dishes also, and everyone made excellent choices! That was not a coincidence. My conclusion is that everything is delicious! My experience that day was so good, I brought my family back there the next evening. Though the service was slow, we found it to be worth it. Family Thai has become a repeat takeout option for us, so it's about time for a review. We've pretty much stuck to the Burmese items on the menu, so I can't comment on the Thai dishes, sushi or bubble tea. We especially like the crispy tofu and Burmese noodle salads during the summer, when we want food that's not piping hot but still filling. Our three-year old is happy with the Burmese stir-fried noodles. We do ask for everything mild since said three-year-old does not tolerate spicy food at all, so I can't comment on how spicy "medium" or "hot" really are. Some mild dishes are just fine for the kiddo, like the noodles, but others are still too spicy, like the egg curry, but that's okay since it means more curry for us adults. Prices are very reasonable for the portions we've gotten. I would say that compared to another Burmese place we've frequented, Street Asian Food, Family Thai seems to be better value. We do like both places, though, and love having multiple options here in Buffalo for Burmese food. read more

We discovered this place on Yelp and decided to give it a try. The place was empty and clean. We ordered a Tom Yum, Tom Kha, Beef Curry and White rice, and a Burmese Vermicelli Noodles. The soups were delicious. The beef curry had good flavor and consistency for a South Asian styled curry. The dishes were lacking spice, and is probably something I will ask for in the future. The entrees were about $9.99 each, and the soups were 4.99 each. As we were the only ones in there, it frankly felt like I was eating in their home. It kind of reminded me of the portion sizes you get in the mall when they're handing out samples of bourbon chicken and orange chicken, trying to get you to buy some. You get just enough. I did not like the shrimp at all. They were very big pieces but very nasty. They tasted dirty. I tried to eat them but they made me gag. The customer service needs improvement. Quaint place - it's not a place you're going to write home about but if you're looking for some authenticity and a cheap, fun, laid back date this is a great place to check out. The Burmese style noodle was tasty. It wasn't doused with oil so you could taste the flavor of the ingredients and sauce. The Thai noodle soup was bland at first but I added the chili paste and it heated up nicely. It was definitely the comfort food I was looking for. It has been a few months since I been back and found out there is a new owner. What a freaking shame! First thing I noticed is a new menu. They have sushi options now and a few new dishes. Other than that all the items from the previous menu/owner. Thinking nothing of it I order a few favorites like Egg Curry, Pad Kee Mow, tea leaf salad and tried a new family thai shrimp special. Egg curry was sad a underwhelming. It ruined my meal to be honest. I was so disappointed. Previously this dish was made with whole deep fried eggs in a thick rich flavorful curry. Dish came to the table it was a watery curry sauce with some hard boiled eggs. Flavorless. Absolutely lazy trash. Tea Leaf Salad was good. Pad kee mow was ok. In my opinion all the dishes lacked spice and flavor. Ordered all dishes medium for my GF sake and all dishes we ordered lacked any resemblance of heat. So disappointed. Was IMO best authentic thai in Buffalo. Probably will never go back. What a damn shame. read more

If you feel the need to break from your Family Thais then I would understand you not eating here. But if you are the kind of person that values Family Thais very highly, then you should definitely try this place. I tried half a portion of Family Thai with a good friend, which was Pad Thai and it was excellent. I intend to go back and try my own favourite dishes, such as Green Curry if they have it, at my earliest convenience. They don't sell Thai Tea, but that's okay... it's always hit or miss anyway, with some spectacular misses at a few other local Thai places. The West Side Bazaar is full of delicious foods and this Thai specialty window definitely keeps up the excellent standard of deliciousness here. Make sure you try Abyssinia too, and the fruit drinks at the South Sudanese Taste Of Africa. And they don't serve Chai here, but if they did, I'd hope they'd serve a massive portion of it so that it could feed 3 or 4... enough for the whole family. Then they could call it "Family Chai." A friend posted about this Resturant on Facebook and her photos of the food she ordered looked SO GOOD that I ordered that night too!! I ordered spring rolls, wonton soup, pad Thai noodles and Barameese fried rice with chicken. I would suggest adding a level of spice to the pad Thai. I have never heard of them before but it will not be the last time i order. The place was VERY clean and respected social distancing rules due to COVID19. Knocking off a star because the taste hasn't been consistent. It's more of a hit or miss depending on who's making the food in the kitchen. Also the spice level is unreliable. The first time I tried a 3, it was plenty hot and the next time it was hardly spicy. So I'd suggest go with the lower number and then ask for more spice if you need it. read more

Wow! Came here on a whim because we were craving Thai and figured we would give this place a try after reading the reviews! It blew us away! Everything was so fresh and flavorful. The best Thai food I have ever gotten in Buffalo! And so reasonably priced! We ordered two appetizers both spring rolls. One order of fried with pork and one fresh with shrimp! They were amazing! The lettuce, cucumber and veggies in the Fresh Spring Roll were so fresh and crisp! Came with 4 pieces. And the fried pork spring roll (3 pieces) was so flavorful and nice and hot, again we could tell it was freshly made. For the entrees we shared an order of Chicken Pad Thai mild and and order of the Burmese chicken Curry medium. Bomb! we could not stop eating it!! The flavor in the chicken curry was so buttery and just right. Can't really ever go wrong with Pad Thai either but it really was the best I have ever had hands down. Happened to be driving by yesterday and so happy I stopped to get takeout! The dishes I ordered were authentic and flavorful (pad woon sen with shrimp and the tea leaf salad.). I live pretty far away, but am seriously thinking about driving back today to pick up dinner again! The woman who took my order was very friendly and wore a mask; I felt safe. Also, I just want to make one comment on a previous negative review. The woman told me that the restaurant was started by the original Westside Bazaar Thai restaurant people, but that the restaurant changed hands some time ago. I read all the past reviews and it seems like there may have been some inconsistency around the change over, but what I had yesterday -- quite a long time after the switch -- was really delicious. This time we ordered Thai fresh rolls with shrimp, Burmese chicken samosas, Pad prik gaeng with chicken, Thai noodle salad, and pad won sen. The "hot" spice level is good but not crazy hot. Most dishes we have ordered are in the $5-$9 range so it's a great opportunity to try several new dishes at a reasonable price. I went on a Friday evening with my husband, small children, and in-laws. The food was phenomenal. My father-in-law ordered penang curry with seafood. When he got it though, it came with chicken instead. That was quickly remedied, and he loved it. My mother-in-law and I both got beef pad see ew. We both thought it was excellent. My toddler got pad thai and gobbled her dinner pretty quickly. My husband ordered Burmese style fish curry with pomfret and was very happy with his meal as well. We all ordered bubble teas, which seemed pretty standard; bubbles were alright. My daughter had an avocado smoothie. It was a bit chunky and not sweetened enough. She didn't like it (when we went home, I blended it again). My husband ordered the mango yogurt smoothie and I wish I had gotten that. It was absolutely delicious! The most important thing we ordered though... the salads! I ordered the ginger salad, because I've never tried it before. It was nice and spicy, and the portion was nice. However, the tea leaf salad is the best salad on earth. We've tried it from this restaurant before, and it was still just as good. I've had tea leaf salad from a couple of different Burmese restaurants, and I've enjoyed most of them, but this one is by far the best. We ordered a non-spicy one for my mother-in-law, and she and my father-in-law (who avoids salads) loved it. My hubby and I shared another order. I am glad to have tried the ginger salad, but I'm all about that tea leaf. It's a pity they don't sell it by the bucket. Love this restaurant and I hope they succeed! I went here this week for the first time with my brother and sister for my birthday dinner. I actually ended up getting Burmese , and my husband and brother got Thai. I also tried their samosa appetizer which was very good! I loved the Burmese noodle dish I got, though be careful on which hot level you choose. I went with medium, but I hit a spot in my food where it was EXTREMELY HOT/Spicy and was dying for a minute. My brother got Thai, picture attached. Overall it was delicious, though we were the only people in the restaurant and was ran by younger kids. But they did a great job, just be careful as it is located in a bit of a sketchy part of town. We have eaten here three times so far and have not been disappointed. The crispy tofu salad is incredible! The pops of citrus, heat , and savory spice are Incredible . The portion is big enough to share as an appetizer. We also ordered vegan pad Thai with tofu. So delicious. The green curry with tofu was also amazing.
