After spending a couple of hours at the DMV for renewal, I needed a treat for lunch. Right there in the same Eggert-Sheridan strip mall was The C Bao and Dumplings! I'd been wanting to eat there for quite a while, but I don't get out that way very often. I was rewarded for choosing the Tonawanda DMV over downtown. The food I had was very good, beautifully presented. The manager was friendly and helpful. I will most definitely eat here again. There were two other tables occupied during my visit, but several people came in and ordered take out, and some were picking up online orders. One of the booths had a young couple, unseen until my way out. The sides of the booths are quite high, affording privacy, yet open on top for an airy atmosphere. In addition to central tables, there are tables opposite the booths. And a single large table with chairs near the counter, where people who come in and order to-go can wait. The wait is not long. From my ordering to being served was maybe 12 to 15 minutes. The menu is varied and extensive enough, which struck me as a pleasant relief from the often overwhelming pages and pages of Chinese restaurant menus. I think C Bao and Dumplings has all of what anyone might be craving, including Pad Thai. Clean, bright, airy, relaxing place to dine for lunch or supper. Enjoy! read more

I'm a big fan of dim sum and dumplings, and while the menu does have some rarer dishes, I wasn't overly impressed with the quality. None were awful, very passable, just lacked real flavor. We came here because they offer chickens feet, my absolute favorite dim sum dish. They weren't great, but just having them was a win. The crab rangoon, calamari, and pan fried dumplings were all okay. I do think there are better in the same area. The place is very clean and the atmosphere is very laid back. Service is done by a robot that brings you your food. Very fun and cool. Prices are pretty fair. read more

An update 03/14/2026: I returned with my teenager to try more dishes, at a classic dim sum day and hour. We were greeted as soon as we arrived, and seated with menus immediately. Kiddo was impressed that there non-traditional pots of tea offered, so we tried blood orange one. It had very nice citrusy flavors and a gorgeous deep red color. The wait staff is traditional enough that my son was given the teacups when the tea arrived: The younger generation serves their elders. Then the dim sum arrived. The cucumber salad had a moderate amount of garlic and vinegar, and a satisfying crunch...but lacked the red chiles usually found in the dish. The crystal shrimp and shrimp with pea shoots were a little over steamed: They were almost gelatinous in the basket. The flavor was a little bland, but there was a bit of sesame oil in both. No dipping sauce? This is hard to overlook, the lack of condiments on the table. The BBQ pork buns were less savory than expected in the center, and overly sweet in the dough. The sesame balls were fantastic. Crunchy, sweet, satisfying. Then the Lanzhou noodles arrived. They looked beautiful, but lacked all the chilies that make this dish exciting. The broth without it was gorgeous: Star anise and fennel were particularly prominent. I wanted to ask for the chile oil, but the kiddo declined...they can still die of embarrassment at that age! Gansu Province, where Lanzhou is located, is famous for their spicy food. Next time, I'm ordering the dish in Mandarin, and quoting Chairman Mao: " The hotter the pepper, the more revolutionary." ( But I shouldn't have to do a performance to get this done right). read more

What a great spot for a casual, affordable date night! Tried out C Bao on a whim after seeing a post about them on social media. What a delightful, delicious experience. Some of the best crab Rangoon I've had in ages. March special is two styles of dumplings for only $8.99, and you get two full plates of 8 dumplings each, which is an incredible value, and they were fantastic. My friends and I stumbled upon C Bao and Dumplings and decided to stop in for lunch on a Sunday. I was pleasantly surprised by their variety of tea options--we chose the chrysanthemum tea. It was served in a teapot with a small flame underneath to keep it warm, and a filter at the spout to keep the flower petals out of the cup, which was a nice touch. We started with the pork and chive fried dumplings, and they were absolutely delicious! I wish we had ordered a second round. They offer a wide selection of both steamed and fried dumplings, which made choosing fun. Next, we tried the shrimp rice rolls and ha gow. We all appreciated how thin and delicate the wrappers were--nothing ruins dim sum like a thick, doughy wrapper. My only minor complaint is that the ha gow and siu mai came in sets of three; I wish they served four instead, which would be perfect for sharing. We also got the soup dumplings, pork and shrimp and just pork. They were good, but I wish they had included spoons and added ginger to the soy sauce--it would have made the experience even better. The beef udon was another hit--flavorful and comforting. And finally, the adorable pig-shaped buns filled with red bean paste were a sweet way to end the meal. This place looks adorable. There is so much seating inside and the place is so nice and clean. The workers are also super nice and accommodating the food is so good. We had a bunch of items and loved all of them. Wish there were more dumpling options that were either beef or chicken instead of pork that would've made our visit even more good but of the items we had we loved everything. read more

The menu felt very repetitive and made it difficult to find just fish dishes without mixing in shrimp, pork, or other meats. We tried the crab rangoons, and honestly, they weren't great. Not the worst I've had, but definitely not something I'd order again. The shrimp cheese balls were okay -- not bad, but considering this was my first time trying them and how underwhelming the food has been overall, I can't help but think they're probably better elsewhere. The shrimp fried rice was disappointing and looked like something from a mall food court. The atmosphere is the one redeeming quality -- it's actually quite nice inside. Unfortunately, the staff were awkward and not very personable, which made us feel uncomfortable asking questions or even placing our order. I wouldn't come back because of both the food quality and the service. It's a shame, because this location has changed hands several times over the past few years, and I probably should've known better. read more

When I saw the soup dumplings they serve here, I knew it was frozen right away. I love soup dumplings, and I know I can go get a bag of soup dumplings for $5-$6 at the Asian Supermarket on Niagara Falls Blvd. It's crazy they sell the same thing here but for $1 for a single soup dumpling. Who knows what else they're selling that's just frozen stuff they heat up. Save your money and go to the Asian Supermarket and buy your own soup dumplings and steam them! read more

Well, this is unfortunate. After OG Dumpling was not stellar, I thought this place could bring me luck and it was worse. We ordered a lot and not one thing was redeemable. Chicken Pad Thai, Chicken Udon, Calamari, Shrimp Dumplings, Orange Chicken, Pork Bao.. all of it was yuck. Just go over to Amherst Buffet and actually enjoy your food. read more

Very much love this place. Service is attentive and very nice and the variety of dim sum really hits the spot. This place used to be Emperor Dumpling, I believe, and the dim sum offerings are mostly the same (especially my beloved rice rolls) but with some new additions like the "fried milk rolls" (pretty much slightly sweet Chinese mozzarella sticks) and of course the delightful pies. Tired a few rounds of take out and it was a pleasant surprise. The food came warm and was a flavor bomb of Asian fusion. Low mein was reminiscent of Hibachi style cooking. There was an extra spice in the low mein that set it apart from other places I have tried. My friend had the roasted pork BOA and we shared two different pan fried pies. Black pepper beef pie and scallion pork pie. Both were really good. Next visit I definitely want to sit in and try more options menu options. Stay tuned! lol read more

Surprisingly good for a local place without a large Cantonese immigrant population. It's not Hong Kong or Vancouver level but still satisfying. The menu is large. The shrimp in the steam shrimp dumplings (har gow) were sweet like crystal river and a good ratio of white pepper flavoring. The dough was a bit thick. The pea shoot shrimp ones were also pretty good. Spring onion cake pastry was perfect. The siu lung bao weee also good. The red bean sesame balls were disappointing - the dough was great but amount of red bean was too little. the owner's from shenzen so knows Cantonese dim sum, my dim sum preferences.
