    Nitro Auto Tire & Detail

Cross posting because I suspect my Google review was marked as spam by the owner. Google maps…read morelists as Nitro Tire Auto & Detail. Yelp has a listing for Shield Auto Detailing. Same place. I came to Shield with high expectations based on strong word-of-mouth and positive reviews from people I trust. While the staff was friendly and the pricing fair, my experience raised serious concerns about attention to detail and overall quality. I wanted this to be my go-to shop -- but unfortunately, the results just didn't meet the standard I was hoping for. After our regular detailer moved away, I started asking around for someone new. Over the course of a few months, two separate folks in the industry mentioned Shield by name. On top of that, their Google reviews page had several reviews from people I personally know who had great things to say -- so I felt confident giving them a try. Last week, I picked up an F150 work truck that had sat unused for five years. While it's a base model, the interior clearly needed a deep, professional-level detail to bring it up to standard. I stopped by the shop in person, and after the tech looked over the interior, he gave me a fair quote and said it would be about a week before they could get me in. That sounded totally reasonable to me. We set a date, and I asked how to handle drop-off. The guy gave me clear instructions on where to park and how to leave the key. I dropped the truck off at 6:15am as planned -- no issues. But around 1:30pm, I got a call saying they hadn't realized my truck was out front or that the keys were in the drop box. The person on the phone said they weren't sure if they'd have time to get it done, since they were leaving by 4:30. This caught me off guard because we had clearly discussed this exact scenario a week prior. I explained that, and the caller said they'd do their best. At 2:50pm I got a text saying the truck was ready. I was between meetings, so I swung by quickly. The guy was friendly and walked me through a few things -- mentioned discoloration on the rear floor and a couple minor issues with the factory tint. A quick glance with the interior light looked decent, and I was in a rush. I thanked him, paid, and left. Later that evening, I got a chance to really look things over. In the sunlight, it was clear there were still surface smudges and goo on the door handles. Dust on the headrests, in the door wells, and around the seat brackets hadn't been touched. I really wanted this to be my new shop, and maybe this was just an off day. It happens -- maybe the detailer was as distracted as I was that day. Still, the lack of attention to detail on a relatively simple job left me pretty disappointed. I'm grateful I started with a vehicle that wasn't part of our daily rotation -- but even so, I expected a thorough, professional detail and didn't get it. I'm not saying they can't do better. Maybe I just caught them on a rough day. But based on this experience, I'll be holding off on a return visit.

He was rude and disrespectful. He only takes cash no debit or credit card My truck was totaled and he discouraged me from moving it off his lot. I came to find out why later he owns a body shop 1 mile from towing company and I guess thought I was going to give him my truck. He did not have my invoice ready nor did he have a receipts. He had to go to body shop to get me a receipt which I needed for my insurance company. He changed the price 3 times on the phone. I had to wait on triple AAA to come tow me out of there for 2 1/2 hours which wants my fault and he cussed me out. He called me names and verbally abused me. I am a female and had 3 other female friends there that heard how he talked. I plan to file complaints against him. He is 71 years old and can't remember or keep up with what he is doing. I do not recommend this place to anyone period.

Nationwide outsources to Agero, and Agero sent Holsteins Towing to do this minor service. Holsteins technician did not wear a face covering and did not follow social distancing protocols. This put me in an awkward and potentially hazardous situation. The next day, I drove to my local dealership to get a new full-size tire. The dealership said ALL FIVE LUGS HAD BEEN CROSS THREADED and that THE SPARE HAD NOT BEEN PROPERLY ATTACHED. I had driven 27 miles in a car that could have lost a tire at any time. This put me and the drivers sharing the road with me in danger!! It cost me an extra $100 plus the extra time to cut all the lugs off. Minor, in comparison to the danger of operating a vehicle with a loose tire . . . and then there's the potential for being exposed to Covid. I called Holsteins to let them know about the problem with the tire and I got a tepid apology. Still working on a claim through Agero - and I have to say I do not recommend Agero either. Avoid both companies if you can.
