Food is outstanding, service is okay once they acknowledge you. Been here twice now and we've been sat on the patio at table 431 both times. The first time we were a party of 5 and waited about 20-25 minutes before we had to go to the hostess and ask about a server. The second time we were a party of 2 and waited about 10 minutes before we had to flag down a server. We had a few servers walk past us both times and not even look in our direction; the table isn't hard to miss...you look directly at it as you walk out of the door to the patio. People were sat directly next to us and waited on immediately, which is why we finally waved down a server. If they could get their service in order, I'd give them 5 stars--but their service is definitely out of order. read more

I really like that you can be added to their waitlist from Yelp! That saved up some time of waiting in the restaurant for a table, when we could be added to waitlist prior to arriving! Once arrived, we were greeted and seated almost immediately. We sat outside, they have a nice covered patio area, with heaters and fans. The wait staff was extremely attentive and friendly. We visited about a month ago and I am just now able to write my review. So take this with a grain of salt. We arrived at 1700 for an early dinner, we have toddlers so we eat early. We thought this would make our experience faster but we didn't leave until almost 1900! Service was super slooooooooow. When we arrived there was like maybe five other tables in the restaurant so the kitchen must have been understaffed. We ordered chicken wings even knowing they were charging an extra $.60 PER WING due to chicken being more expensive. Now, our food took 45 minutes to arrive. We ordered one kid's pizza, an order of boneless wings and an order of traditional wings. The pizza was piping hot,yay! The wings that we paid an exuberant amount extra for were ICE COLD. We waited so long and paid so much extra and they weren't even fresh. The must have died in the pass. I loved the flavor of the sauces and it reminded me of a restaurant in Norfolk,VA which I miss dearly. Had service been better we might consider returning. I popped in here one night for a quick beer and some wings. Service was excellent - prompt and very friendly. They have a very impressive selection of beers, so come thirsty. The food did take a little long about 22 minutes and they weren't that crowded but it was worth the wait. We came here Saturday around two and were seated immediately, it wasn't busy at all. Our waitress was very friendly and prompt. I ordered the single order of wings with 1/2 buffalo lemon pepper and 1/2 Cajun with an order or sweet potato fries. The amount of fries they give you is pretty laughable which is the only reason I docked a star. The wings are hot, seasoned well, and they offer a wide variety of flavors and rubs that aren't your typical flavors which I think sets them apart. I was in town for the weekend.. and have already had BBQ and Tex-Mex food, So I started to look for a burger joint and this is what I found.. The pepperoni rolls were excellent along with mozzarella bites and macaroni and cheese bites on our appetizer. These were all a must have.. Now to the burger which I chose the Macaroni and cheese burger which I felt was going to be a great pick since I just tried the macaroni bites which were delicious. Burger patty was cooked perfectly but the macaroni and cheese bun/fritter thing was way under cooked which I couldn't eat it.. the center was cold less than room temperature and then if that wasn't bad enough the manager came out to defend the issue by saying "that's the temperature we cook it too" instead of acknowledging it was a mistake.. It wasn't edible and I didn't care about free food I care about your food cooked properly and to perfection. This place definitely has the potential but with poor management and undercooked food I would label this as a yelp "overrated restaurant." Another one of the people in my party management said there was an issue with the fish and it had to redo it.. Another person asked for unsweetened tea 3 times because of sweet tea being brought every time.. Another person totally didn't even get there side of broccoli until they inquired about it well after the food was brought out.. So yeah this place is overrated and I would not come back again.. this restaurant is on the down slope in my honest opinion. read more

Absolutely fans of the food and service of Anchor bar. They never miss. We are 2-3x per month patrons (sometimes more) but we have been very disappointed the last couple times on the building condition. Sitting here tonight to eat dinner and my son is so hot he fell asleep at the table with sweat beads on his forehead. Over 80degrees in the restaurant, not a single glass of water with ice still in it. Very disappointing. The food and service is still amazing like normal but I feel very bad for them. We're here for an hour or so and they are working long shifts. I can't imagine what condition the kitchen is in. read more

I really hoped I could give Anchor Bar a 5 but I can't. Maybe yesterday was a fluke but the wings we ordered as takeout only had a few spoons of sauce on the very bottom. I thought that maybe this was how it was done in Buffalo, NY so I tried it. The wings were juicy on the inside and crunchy on the out but there was no taste at all. This clearly was a mistake and they forgot to add sauce. My husband had boneless wings covered in the sauce that I ordered and they were sooooo good! The best I've tasted anywhere. However I love good old fashioned wings so I was very disappointed. I'm considering trying this location again and will update my review if I do. But for now, it was very disappointing. read more

Autumn and Ashley are the BEST! On our second visit, my friend Claudia and I visited Anchor Bar. We asked our phenomenal waitress Autumn what she liked to eat and drink and she stated naked wings with a Texas Margarita. Yes, they both were excellent choices!!! In addition, I had the chicken and macaroni and my friend Claudia had the macaroni with bacon. Although mine was good, hers was better...mmmhh! On our third visit, Ashley assisted us and recommended the pizza rolls....mmmmh! One improvement I would add, is the kitchen area. Claudia asked for bread crumbs on her macaroni (she didn't get it) she was still very happy because it was delicious and the third visit she asked for all flats with the delicious dry cajun rub and didn't get it but Ashley changed them out and everything was great! Ashley and Autumn did apologized immediately and explained the cook was new. Nevertheless, we thoroughly enjoyed our food AND service.
