We just recently moved to San Antonio and had a few minor plumbing concerns that we wanted looked at in our house (low-ish water pressure, water softener functionality and maintenance, etc). I had been dragging my feet in calling a plumber, but my hand was forced when my 4 year old flushed a plastic toilet paper holder down the toilet, rendering my master bath toilet useless. I called Anchor after seeing Facebook suggestion. Paul was friendly, professional, and quick to get out to us (about 2 hours since he was on another job when I called). After getting here, he was able to snake the toilet and have the issue fixed within 10 minutes. He even humored my son's million questions and our ever nosy dog with stride. The prices were reasonable, but might be a little on the higher end if you have a quick job like mine. This is due to the fact that they use a flat rate rather than an hourly rate - a benefit if you have something that's going to take a bit of time, but something to consider if you have a quick snake job like we had. Basically, I paid a bit more than I was expecting, but it was more than worth it because of what Paul did AFTER he fixed the immediate issue at hand. Paul was amazingly helpful and took the time to examine our water pressure and water softener for free. He checked our outside pressure and after a few questions and further examination, determined it was probably a source issue (the pressure is ok, we just wish it was a bit higher). He did offer some helpful DIY solutions for the shower, toilets, etc. He also went to examine our water softener and schooled me on the required maintenance. If after following his instructions we found that our softener still wasn't working properly, he'd come back and check it out for free and see if we needed repairs. Luckily, his directions worked and we now have a fully functioning water softener. Overall, we were super satisfied and will DEFINITELY be using Anchor again in the future. read more

I did not hire Anchor Plumbing to replace my water heater but their response was fast and a good consult/estimate. I'm writing this on 7/29/2020 and we're in the middle of COVID, so home visits are fewer. Mr. Paul called me back and we facetimed with our iPhones so he was able to see what I needed. Initially, I wanted a hybrid water heater to replace my old one. However, after talking with Mr. Paul, there's a lot more involved than simply switching our units. He was frank about how a hybrid needed to work with building codes. Other plumbers I took estimates from didn't seem to know or were willing to skirt the rules. I'd rather have someone tell me "possible but" rather than do the work halfbaked, and I have to deal with it years later when I sell the house. I scheduled an appointment for someone to come out and check out the condition of the plumbing on an older duplex I am purchasing. The lady on the phone said it would be $65 but when the tech came out it magically turned into $188. He said it was the "piece of mind package". Only problem is he didn't get under the house like we asked or answer any questions we had. He basically walked around the house for 10 minutes and didn't look at anything we asked him to. So we ask him what he thinks a ballpark price is to update some on the water lines and he says "around $6,500" and he would send us over a quote. So we are on day 4 after the appointment with no quote so I have to call to check and I had another guy tell me he can only give me an estimated bid since he doesn't have any measurements or much info. Which is weird because I paid $188 to have one of their techs come out to get measurements and get us a detailed quote. And to top everything off that $6,500 verbal quote turned into $45,000 which he said was on the low end. All and all this was the worst experience I have every had with a contractor and I deal with a lot of different companies being in real estate. I asked them to refund my money but they never did so beware when you use this company. Their lack of knowledge and customer service makes me wonder how they have such good reviews but steer clear. We discovered a leak over the weekend and called Anchor based on previous customer's reviews. I'm really glad we did. Anchor was responsive, received a call from Liz within 10min for an appointment. They were very accommodating and worked to get us an early time. I received a text with our journeyman licensed plumbers name, Brandon A. and that he was on his way. Immediately after Brandon called letting us know he was en route in about 5min and he was at our door within the 2hr window given by Anchor. Great communication and were here when they say they would be. Brandon is friendly, professional, and was thorough in locating the leak, explained all his actions and asked for our permission to proceed with repairs. Having come home for the Holidays and findng out our main water heater has given out, I contacted Anchor Plumbing late afternoon on Christmas Eve and Paul answered the phone and was super friendly and set up an appointment for the 26th. Luckily, our other water heater was still working so we were able to get by for a couple of days. Alec and Jared came out and inspected our Water heaters and I had them replace both at the same time as they were both about 14 years old now. Alec and Jared were superb in their service and professionalism. They gave me a cost to replace both water heaters (which were in the attic, by the way..) and they got it done in a few hours and cleaned up afterwards.
