My mom needed a new car on the cheap our car died. We are far from rich and had little money to put down. We wanted a new car, a good one, mom has to work even if it snows, so we needed an all wheel drive car. We stopped at three other dealers, and all their cars were out of reach payment wise. We then pulled into Anchor Subaru. Peter Frain greeted us and we told him our story. He actually listened to what we had to say, (something the other dealers failed to do), and showed us a Forester. We fell in love with it at first sight. He showed us all the features, and we were impressed. The price scared us, but he promised to make it affordable. After a long test drive we wanted the Forester bad, but mom always wanted a blue car. We told this to Peter, he just smiled and drove us up on his lot. You have never seen so many Subaru's in your life, they were jam packed. So we sat down with our Blue Forester parked out front, waiting to see how far out of budget this was going to be. Peter asked how many miles we drove a year, he explained to us what leasing a car entailed, and told us about our options at the end of the lease. He went to talk with one of the managers, and came back with a payment we could more than live with, we couldn't be happier. The manager that gave us the price Bob Volpi came over and we thanked him. They have something on the internet called Factory Direct Pricing, but we were happier with Volpi Direct Pricing. Two hours later we were about to drive home in our new car, and the owner Brian Benoit came over and thanked us. He gave us his card and told mom to call him if she ever needs anything. If it was possible to give negative stars, I would. My sister and her husband recently had their car destroyed by this dealership and the car is being held hostage. I write about the situation in my blog, http://www.mindofahummingbird.blogspot.com In a nutshell, they took my sister's Forester in for a complimentary oil change. Three days later the engine seized. The car was towed back and Anchor Subaru told my sister that "there was no lubrication in the engine, so it seized" and a new engine was recommended. When she explained that THEY did the oil change three days ago, the dealership refused to accept responsibility, demanded to see all maintenance records "in case the car wasn't cared for properly" and even after these records were provided, they are still refusing to answer phone calls or make any decision on the car. My sister and her husband only own this one car and Anchor Subaru has refused to give them a loaner car in the meantime. They want to dismantle the engine to make certain it was lack of oil that destroyed the car but they want to charge my sister for the labor involved. It was been 2 weeks since this has happened and still there is no decision, movement or plan to assist my sister in anyway. She bought the car from this dealership. Is this how to treat a loyal customer? Where is the "love" Anchor Subaru? read more

I went in to Anchor Subaru apprehensive, never having purchased a new car and knowing nothing about what to expect. I'd always bought used cars from a local small dealership who knew me, knew my family, knew my car needs. I left Anchor feeling the same way. Never did I feel pressured or rushed; Andrew answered all of my questions, explained all the options and features, and I never felt like I was being unnecessarily upsold just to increase the sale price. I ended up purchasing a 2016 Forester and at delivery, despite scorching heat and humidity, Andrew took all the time I needed to familiarize me with all the bells and whistles. Pricing, fees, etc. were all explained and spelled out up front; I never felt like there were hidden charges I didn't understand. I don't recall who I worked with in Finance, unfortunately, but he also explained everything clearly and patiently and was excellent to work with. All in all, I couldn't be more pleased with my new Forester, or with the buying experience. Andrew was knowledgeable, personable and friendly, and I look forward to working with Anchor for all my service needs. I would definitely recommend Anchor to anyone, but especially to inexperienced/first time buyers. All around a pleasant experience. read more

Always had good experiences with their service department. Sure, it's a little more expensive on the labor end just like all dealerships, but you're getting quality parts installed by someone actually trained for the job and they stand by their work. I've even been physically walked into the garage to see an issue found with my car so I could assess how I wanted to go about the repair, instead of someone just coming out and saying they found something that was going to cost me more money. They stay tight to their quotes and if anything comes up you get a phone call with all the details, parts options, and recommendations to make the best decision for yourself. They also take the time to give your car a quick exterior wash and interior wipe down/cleanup so you don't get in the car to find surprises like greasy hand prints on the steering wheel, garage-smells in the car, or (the worst) that your seat has been moved all around. It's the little things that make all the difference which you come to take for granted until you have to go somewhere else. read more

DO NOT LET A SALESPERSON NEAR YOUR CAR WITH A TOOL!!! Recently accompanied my mother to Anchor and the sales experience was excellent...until it came time to swap her plates to her 2018 Subaru. I watched in horror as the salesperson failed to remove rusty plate screws from her older car (not a trade-in) with vise-grip pliers. They then resorted to literally ripping the plate off the car, pulling the mounting plates (metal, not plastic, as this was a Honda) through the sheet metal of the car. They then brought the plate, screws and backings still attached, to the mechanics to have them cut the screws off the plate. It would have been just as quick and caused no damage to her other car if it was given to the mechanics to remove the screws. Everything went well until the sale was completed. I would tell anyone and everyone I know that they shoud not buy a car unless it's from Derek at Anchor. A friend of mine and her family bought many cars from Derek. He came highly recomended and he didn't disappoint. I went to other dealers before I was told to go see Derek and I got the usual run around bull that you would expect and honestly I expected it from him as well but it was totally different. Everything was very transparent and straight forward. My price was very fair and my trade in was a little higher than all the other dealers I went to. I'm very happy that I was made aware of the much better business practices that Derek and everyone else I met at Anchor Subaru perform. I recently had my car repaired at Anchor Subaru (I also purchased it there several years ago, but before I was using Yelp). I have a lot of miles on my Legacy and it needed new head gaskets, clutch, and a timing belt. As you can imagine this is an expensive job, and I gave Jack, my service advisor, my budget. He did a terrific job of helping stay within my budget and didn't charge me extra when the cooling system needed to be back flushed to fix a sludge buildup problem. To top it off, he threw in the rental for free. I've always had a good experience with Anchor's service department and it's because they have great people like Jack working there. read more

My wife and I came in with our daughter from Cranston, to pick up her new 2015 Outback. We were shopping for an Outback ourselves, and couldn't find one in NJ.
