Delicious food, great portions, excellent service and decent prices - the perfect combination for a 5 start experience. The menu is extensive and you can't go wrong with anything on the menu. We couldn't decide what meat platter to try so we went with the Mediterranean mix which gave an awesome variety - beef koobideg, barg and chicken. The staff was more than happy to bring more pita over as we had our meal, which was great. Looking forward to going back and trying more!

my only gripe is the way i got charged. this koobideh was absolutely delicious and juicy. the rice was amazing, i love the dill and lima beans. [[HIGHLIGHT]]the seating outside on a nice weather day was fun until the bees kept smelling my floral perfume lol.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]the ambiance inside is also nice so wasn't an issue to move inside.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] our server was very sweet and hospitable. my only thing is they need a koobideh combo plate on the menu, that's a staple at all the persian restaurants. since they don't have one here, she placed an order for one beef koobideh a la carte, one chicken, and the rice but the total was $24 instead of the $19 plate where you get two beef koobideh and that makes no sense because sirloin is more expensive than chicken. the plate also didn't come with a grilled tomato or lavash bread on the side. she was sweet in bringing sumac and butter and raw onion after i asked for sumac. but next time i need them not to overcharge for ordering it separate like that or get the koobideh beef plate and one a la carte chicken koobideh so that the value is worth the cost.

Came here on a Sunday night at 6:30 and had a great meal. We were seated immediately and the service was attentive and quick. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The outdoor seating looked nice and the indoor seating was nice and not cramped.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The tadiq and various eggplant dishes were fantastic and flavorful. The saffron marinated chicken kebab was quite delicious. Definitely recommend if you're looking for Persian and Turkish food!

Freshly prepared food and friendly service! I pooped in while walking to a friend's place and the shrimp kabob platter (subbed rice for tabbouleh) was great! Nice flavors and filling without being heavy. I'll definitely return & enjoy the patio again (visited in late May).

FOOD 5/5 I was out on a walk and saw that they were open. I've been looking for a falafel joint near Davis since I just moved here. And I found it!! This is probably on par with my other falafel joints in the Bay Area and San Diego. Seasoning, texture, and sauce is on point. Also had the dolmas/ grape leaves which were pretty decent. It's not on par with my other dolmas joints though. SERVICE 5/5 Everything was provided for take out. AMBIANCE 5/5 Great authentic decor. PRICE 4/5 Slightly more expensive than my other falafel joints but it's worth it.

Marvelous Mediterranean food!! We placed our order at the counter, and it was ready about 20 minutes later. Their location is great, and we waited on a rocking bench nearby in Trolley Square. When we took our food home, we found that it's a great portion for the price! The falafel salad was fresh and came with two dressings (I really liked the tahini one). Only two falafel balls though, so it was mostly salad (lettuce, cucumbers, tomatoes, olives, feta). The falafel was really good - flavorful and not dry. The star of the meal was the Persian lamb shank! It's served with a dill lima bean rice and also came with thin bread. Tender, flavorful meat that fell off the bone! The lamb sauce is tomatoey and thick, which tasted great on the bread as well. I would get this again in a heartbeat. And the best part: we had enough leftovers to enjoy it again the next night! To top off our meal, we got the saffron rice pudding, which was a really nice take on a classic. Served cold, it was flavorful with a nice texture, topped with cinnamon and loaded with slivers of almonds. Would also get again!

Spinach 6. Borani - Yogurt and spinach dip - delicious with bread or dollop a bit on a bit of rice.

I love the Persian food at this cute little place. My husband is Persian, and we've taken our in-laws here and they all rave about the food, with my brother-in-law calling the Gormeh sabzi (an herb, kidney bean and beef stew, which is kind of like the favorite dish of Iran) "heavenly." The tah dig/crispy rice served under the stew is the beloved bread tah dig, which means pieces of lavash are layered under the rice and crisp up with the rice, rather than rice alone. We've also loved the beef koodideh kabob and barg/marinated filet mignon and the juicy chicken kabob. Needless to say at any Persian restaurant, RICE IS QUEEN! And the rice here is excellent. They have traditional saffron rice but also the lesser seen on menus herb rice (sabzi polow) and zereshk polow (rice with tart berries almost like a cranberry - good with chicken). The sides we always order are the shallot yogurt to dip our bread and the eggplant sides, which are roasted l, mashed eggplant with garlic and tomato and drizzled with kashk/whey. I also love the spinach yogurt dip. Also the salad Shirazi which is tomatoes cukes and lemon with herbs. So refreshing and I also put a little on a little of my rice. They have beer and wine but also the best Persian tea which goes so well with the food or perhaps dessert? Baklava or Persian saffron ice cream. They have other middle eastern dishes on the menu too like hummus and falafel (because most Americans confuse Persian food, I think - hummus and falafel aren't Persian - but they look good!) There are just about eight tables with more outdoors in good weather and they seem to do a brisk to-go business. Not fancy by any means but so authentic and good! Why aren't you there now?

Roksana's Persian Food Saved Our Graduation Celebration…read more I cannot thank Roksana's Persian Food enough. After another restaurant (Caspian Persian Cuisine) unexpectedly cancelled our graduation event catering at the last minute, we were left scrambling just hours before a gathering of 40 people. It was a stressful situation, and we honestly weren't sure how we were going to pull it off. Then we found Roksana's. Despite the extremely short notice, they immediately understood the urgency, stepped up, and delivered. The entire order was prepared on time, complete, and exactly what we needed. They even threw in a few extras, which was an incredibly thoughtful gesture during an already chaotic day. And the food? Absolutely incredible! Every dish was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully prepared. Our guests loved it, and several people asked where the food came from. What could have been a disaster turned into a memorable celebration thanks to their professionalism, generosity, and outstanding food. It's easy to provide good service when everything goes according to plan. It's much harder to rise to the occasion when someone needs help at the last minute. Roksana's did exactly that. We are immensely appreciative and grateful. They didn't just cater our event. They saved it. Highly recommended, and we will absolutely be back.

The koobideh was more eggy than it was beefy. It almost felt like that there was barely any beef in the koobideh. The second time we also had beef soltany, to give another item a try. This item was alright. You could taste the pomegranate molasses in the soltany. While the flavor was pleasant, I was expecting more char from the kebab (especially from the sugars in the pomegranate molasses) and for the meat to be more tender, after the staff hyped up this particular item. I also don't think that the price of $29 for this item was justified.

All street parking and we had to circle around to find a spot so plan ahead. We got a red wine and the flawless victory cocktail. I got to try a couple wines before committing to a glass. My partner loved his cocktail. Super well balanced and really unique combo of flavors. Both drinks paired well with all our food too. Zucchini pancakes (2/5) - the only miss. The pancakes were not crispy at all and ate very mushy. The carrot curry was delish but all the flavors together with the raita didn't really do it for me. White bean hummus (4/5) - amazing flavor and the little sesame ring it comes with was yummy. The texture of the hummus could have been smoother though. Sugar snaps (5/5) - perfect sweet and salty balance and really great texture from the quinoa. Good creaminess too. Octopus souvlaki (5/5) - well charred octopus and tender. The flavors were rich in flavor. Yellow split pea was a nice creamy base. Revani snack cake (5/5) - we almost didn't get dessert but glad we did! It a citrus pound cake with a pineapple glaze and a spiced macadamia crunchy topping. Served chilled. Very yummy and not too heavy. Overall very happy we tried this place. Okay, for a solo adventure I chose the bar and yes, they took me to a seat there. Looking at the menu I knew it was tapas style going in but before I could really start looking at anything the bar tender said, "or, there's a chef tasting." Okay, stop there, let's just do that and add the meat and fish option. To start was the Strawberry Fattoush - Little Gems, Cucumber, Pomegranate Vinaigrette, Pita Chips, Sumac - amazing. Next was the Warm Buttered Hummus - Basturma, Tomato, Black Olive. Still doing great! Then the Fried Mussels - Hot Peppers, Turkish Almond Tarator Sauce. Can't say I have ever had those before! The Spinach Falafel - Tahini, Beet Tzatziki, Pickles was next. Though you could roll it up, eating it that way was pointless. Back to the knife and fork. After that was the Grilled Asparagus - Sorrel Aioli, Puffed Black Rice, Bergamot Honey. Probably the most familiar looking dish of the night. Then the Sultan's Delight - Tamarind Beef, Smoky Eggplant Purée, Basil. Aamazing! Still going after that was the Swordfish - Nettle Freekah, Red Pepper Tahini, Buttermilk Fried Fiddle Heads. Then finally the Turkish-Style Profiteroles - Brown Butter Crème, Sesame Caramel Cashews, Halva with something else on the side. All of this with a Shepherds Pilsner which I believe is my first brew from Palestine. Who knew that was possible? Needless to say, the meal was quite an adventure. Definitely worth it. All amazing as was the service at the bar!

Oh, Oleana! Tucked…read moreaway in Cambridge, Oleana is a cozy Mediterranean restaurant serving small plates. My partner and I managed to snag a last-minute reservation on a Tuesday night, and even at 9 p.m. the restaurant was still lively. Between the beautiful decor and warm atmosphere, it made for a great date night spot, though it was admittedly a bit dim (apologies in advance for the photo quality!) Between the two of us, we ended up ordering quite a few dishes: Whipped Feta (4/5): This was good, though I was hoping for a stronger roasted pepper flavor. Nothing wrong with it, but it didn't quite stand out. Interestingly, we overheard the table next to us mention the same thing, so maybe this one's a bit hit or miss. Spinach Falafel (4/5): Another solid dish. It was bright, colorful, and fresh, though a little messy to eat. Our waiter rather bluntly told us to "just wrap it and bite," which caught us a little off guard, but it was good nonetheless. Fatteh (4.5/5): Our favorite appetizer of the night. The creamy roasted cauliflower paired so well with the crispy pita, and I especially loved the sweetness the onions brought to the dish. Sultan's Delight (5/5): As everyone else says, this is the one to order. The beef was incredibly tender and rich. In hindsight, I almost wish we'd had the potatoes from the Adana Kebab to eat alongside it because they would've been the perfect accompaniment. Vermont Quail Kebab (5/5): Tied with the Sultan's Delight as our favorite entrée. The quail was juicy, well-spiced, and surprisingly easy to eat. I'd absolutely order this again. Adana Kebab (4/5): By this point, I think we were simply getting full. The kebab itself was good, but not nearly as memorable as the other meat dishes. Ironically, the potatoes and peppers that came with it might have been my favorite part--they would've paired perfectly with the Sultan's Delight. Baked Alaska (4.5/5): Delicious. The toasted meringue paired wonderfully with the coconut ice cream, though we were a little mixed on the passionfruit caramel, which came across slightly burnt and more acidic than expected. After a while the meringue did become quite sweet, so we ended up pairing some with the Muhallebi. Dark Chocolate Muhallebi (3.5/5): Yes...we ordered two desserts. I was mostly drawn in by the kaymak ice cream, but the Muhallebi itself was almost completely unsweetened. I'm usually all for desserts that aren't overly sweet, but this one leaned more savory than I expected. We actually ended up adding some leftover meringue from the Baked Alaska to balance it out. Looking back, given both our appetites (and our wallets), I think we would've been perfectly happy just ordering the Baked Alaska. Overall, Oleana was a lovely spot for a date night. While it didn't quite live up to the lofty expectations I'd built up from all the praise, we still had a really enjoyable meal. Our main waiter was kind, and I appreciated that the dishes came out in rounds, giving us plenty of time to eat and chat. The meat dishes were definitely the highlights for us, but overall there's a lot to like here.

Our table was right next to a huge wood-fired oven where we could see the fresh table bread being made which was pretty cool. We ordered 3 items off the menu, 2 appetizers (Aushak and Mantwo) and 1 main dish (lamb kebab). I've never had Afghan food before, so the ingredients and flavors used in each dish were very unique to me, but everything worked very well. The Aushak in particular was the most surprising.. they called it "ravioli", but it was more dumpling-esque to me, which an interesting bolognese-like sauce with yogurt. You wouldn't think those flavors would work together but they really do. The Mantwo also paired very nicely with the Aushak, with more of an earthy taste to it. The lamb kebab was also very tasty, though it wasn't anything super unique. The free bread for the table was also a surprising highlight, as we got to try various different dipping sauces (which we then also used to supplement the kebab). Service was attentive, the ambiance of the restaurant was nice, and overall really enjoyed our dinner here.
