My colleague, who used to live in Boston, recommended Tatte as one of his all-time favorite bakeries. Having consumed many pastries from San Francisco to Paris, I was intrigued to see how Tatte would stack up. We visited the Tatte near Harvard, and I was immediately charmed by the decor with tiled floors, marble counter tops, and a jumble of unique light fixtures suspended from the ceiling. Even after lunchtime, the bakery was packed, and the pastry case was fully stocked with a variety of croissants, cookies, and other rustic-looking pastries. When I got to the front of the line, I ordered a pistachio croissant. The pistachio croissant was superb - it achieved a crispy exterior yet remained buttery and fluffy on the inside. The filling was just barely sweet with a distinctive pistachio flavor. I would definitely come back to try Tatte's other baked goods (the focaccia also looked delicious) or one of their prepared meals. read more

Tatte Bakery is such a staple in Boston that I have to stop by everytime I'm in the city. While it doesn't have the local charm of more mom and pop bakeries, you can always get a solid pastry or casual meal here. This recent trip, I was famished after landing and stopped by for a quick lunch. I really wanted to try the Jerusalem bagel so I got the egg in a hole which comes with the bagel and the pistachio croissant for a sweet treat. Loved the egg in a hole, the bagel is nice and crunchy on the outside with a soft pillowly center and the sesame seeds add so much flavor and a great nuttiness! The pistachio croissant is good as well but a little too sweet for my liking. The best part about Tattes is that there's usually ample seating to chat with friends or get some work done. They also do open later than other bakeries around making it a great place to hang out at. read more

Tatte is overhyped. I've had plenty of folks come to me and ask for my opinion about tatte, my response is - their competitor is Flour and I don't care for Flour, but I would happily go there instead because I know they won't rat their own staff out for their own beneficial gain. Local mom and pop shops that have made themselves into chains should be grateful for their employees - not rat them out at the first sign of inconvenience. I've gotten sick from tatte twice and my friends have also experienced food poisoning/ allergy contamination too. If you have no allergies, then maybe this is the place for you. This is not reflecting one location, it's the local chain in general. There's also something about leaving things uncovered on a counter all day that also bothers me. Try a local mom and pop sandwich shop for a good salad or sandwich. Heck, go to Flour Bakery and Cafe instead. Save yourself the aftermath woes! read more

Delicious pastries and coffee! I had an iced coffee and cherry/ cheese danish. The coffee was dark and strong - just how I like it! The danish was a little gummy at the bottom, maybe a tad bit under baked but the cherry flavor was good. There was a line almost to the door when I got there on the weekend. The Third Street Tatte in Cambridge is much smaller than the one in Cambridge Crossing, and voices bounce off the walls a lot more (something I've noticed in several Tattes now because there's no soft furnishings to absorb the sound). Not a great place to spend too much time in because of the noise level and cramped space. I also noticed the food smells stick to clothing so a venting issue that I haven't noticed in other cafes. Came back to chat with some girl friends for an early lunch on Sunday. Plenty of seating. The Shakshuka was very filling and pretty good. The pistachio cherry tart is still a goodie but the recent versions that I have tasted have been a bit drier to me and is more a 8.5/10. Still a delicious snack but harder to justify the $7.50 price tag. I think it needs more cherry or a cherry jam spread in between to help have more tartiness and complexity. Friendly service. Everything in the winter farro bowl was too hard to chew--the farro, the huge broccoli stems, the stringy spinach...and at the end I was left with a bunch of too salty hummus. The lentil soup was bland and came lukewarm. The pita sandwich was very bland and mostly unchewable broccoli as well. All the flavored lattes-- chai, pistachio, and date are too sweet and ALWAYS come lukewarm. They'd be perfect if they stopped adding so much sugar and actually made them hotter, because they're otherwise flavorful. The Krembo had so little flavor that I wondered if it was display food or real food. Then tried the teramisu and it was also really bland. Service is great though. Just everything here was so bland and I would not pay for any of them again. This Cafe had one of the creamiest pistachio lattes that I have ever tried. They used real pistachios in the latte along with the lightest foam on top. 2 shots of expresso was perfect for me as it gave me the little boost that I needed. I've always been a big fan of Tatte. Everything I've tried there is top tier, so it's no surprise they have a great reputation. This location is no exception. Generally, I would warn that they get really busy on weekend morning, so be prepared for lines, but it's worth the wait! There isn't as much seating here as some of the other locations, such as Harvard, which has an entire upstairs area, but they do have a few additional tables outside. For food, I'm not a huge pastry fan in general, but their stuff is delicious. I'm a big fan of the shakshuka, which is the perfect hearty breakfast. The staple Boston cafe. My favorite is their French toast (only available on weekends). It's so custardy & fluffy! I also recommend the short rib grilled cheese and turkey avocado sandwich. It's probably a good thing I didn't end up going to school in Boston, otherwise I'd spend more than half my paychecks on Tatte! They have such high quality pastries, breads, cakes, tarts and other sweet treats as well as a full menu with sandwiches and other hot items. Their almond croissants are excellent, but my favorite menu item by far is their panini with prosciutto, brie + fontina cheese, fig jam and bosc pear. Easily the best panini I've ever had, all the ingredients blended so well together - such a good combination. It gets pretty busy and can be difficult to find a place to sit if you're looking to sit down and enjoy your coffee/food, but even if you take it to-go, I really recommend stopping by if you're in the Boston area. read more

The exterior and interior of Tatte are both really gorgeous and their store and bathrooms are both clean and polished. I ordered the Tatte House Latte and a sesame bagel. The staff was polite and the wait was only around 5 minutes. However, one small flaw was that they had ordered the wrong size of lids, so when they gave me my cup, some of the liquid inside spilled since the lid was too large for the cup. After asking them, they exchanged it for one of the hot beverage cups, but it was kind of odd to me that they didn't offer immediately. However, this was all made up by the coffee. The coffee tasted cinnamon-y and was the perfect balance of coffee and creamy. It wasn't bitter at all, but also was so unique. It was really incredible, and had warm notes of honey and nuts. I definitely recommend getting their coffee, even though everyone is raving about their food. I also got their sesame bagel, which was also super tasty. Even though it wasn't warmed up, it was chewy and nutty, but also vaguely sweet as well. I highly recommend their bagels as well, and if I'm ever back in the area, will definitely try their food, too. I definitely suggest visiting for yourself and trying their extensive menu. There is a lot of seating, and an upstairs area, as well, and the staff is polite. Their food is top notch and very high quality, and has a unique flavor different from any other cafe I've been to. This is a great place to eat and check out. I had the Chicken Pita and it was very tasty - nice and tangy flavor with a soft warm homemade pita. One of the house specialties is the lemon tart. Very tasty and perfectly prepared. The tiramisu was also delicious. The selection of desserts made sure I'll be coming back. The staff was very friendly and helpful - answering questions for a first time visitor. Finally, the establishment itself had a neat vibe. First thing to know if you're not local is that there are tons of Tatte locations around the city and while they vary in size, all of them make excellent coffees and breakfast plates and pastries. If you're meeting friends be very specific about which one you're going to. We seriously ended up in three different ones trying to locate each other ha! They often have long lines but move efficiently. The kitchen kicks things out quickly. They can be noisy spots during busy times but the cute decor-subway tile and reclaimed wood tables still make them feel cozy. read more

Their shakshouka comes with a nice, buttery fluffy bread that is perfect to dip with the sauce. I always have to go back for the almond croissant as it is 10/10. I would give this place a 3.5 if I could. I must say the ambiance is unmatched. Tatte is very European in nature and a great spot for brunch or a first date. To start off with the positives, they have a great variety of pastries. I was impressed by how many in-house baked goods they had to offer. I also was obsessed with the house latte. I love cardamom in coffee and the halva flavor adds such an amazing bit of sweetness. Definitely a latte I'm going to remember and am trying to recreate at home, lol. The interior is also very, very clean and spacious so it's a good place if you have a group of people. Now onto the negatives. I was personally thrown off that they never offered to even warm my croissant. It was kind of strange eating a cold croissant, but it wasn't all that bad. I loved the pistachio butter filling but wish they had included more of it. The shakshuka was incredibly mediocre. I've had much better shakshuka elsewhere. For the price ($14 I believe) it was not worth it, in my opinion. If you've never had shakshuka maybe you'd love it, but it was very plain in flavor for me. Lastly, the customer service was outright rude. It didn't feel attentive at all and when I asked them some questions (first time there) the cashier seemed fed up with me. I wouldn't go back just because of the service alone. I would recommend the house latte 100% but everything else I had was somewhat middle-tier. read more

Tatte is one of my favorites for breakfast and baked goods. We don't have them in Florida, so whenever I'm near one I make it a point to stop in. The coffee is always delicious, the breakfast filling and flavorful, and the baked goods, unforgettable. I love pistachio anything -- and their pistachio croissant is my go to. Love their morning buns, too. My absolute favorite pastry is a kouign amann. I've had them from another Tatte, but the ones at this location fell a little short. It lacked the caramelization and traditional kouign-amann shape. The bottom was also sticky chewy---However, it was still pretty tasty. The cilbir was dreamy. The egg was perfectly poached, and I loved the combo of the spinach and Jerusalem artichokes over the garlic labneh and Aleppo chili oil...with the most delicious slice of sour dough...heavenly. Came for a rainy day brunch to-go; my boyfriend and I enjoyed a couple of awesome breakfast sandwiches with yummy gooey egg yolks (watch out for that explosion after the first bite though, the yolk comes out fast!). I had a breakfast sandwich that came on a croissant (can't remember the name) which I would definitely recommend because that bad boy was flaky!! I also tried the classic breakfast sandwich which came on sourdough bread, also very tasty but a little thinner and more prone to messiness compared to the croiss.
