This is our first time trying Andersen bakery and we ordered for delivery. They were out of a few items we ordered. They called us immediately and substituted with something else. The order still wasn't filled entirely but they credit so it wasn't a big deal. We ordered sandwiches, bbq chicken bacon sandwich and California BLT. We both loved them. Ordered some desserts. Haven't tasted them all but the eclair was good and we are looking Forward to the danishes tomorrow. Will definitely order from here again. read more

Normally, the service is fast and efficient BUT this time it was15 minutes of waiting to be told they ran out of the bread that I selected for my sandwich. I was so disappointed that I requested a refund which took another 5 more minutes. I wasted 20 minutes of my lunch time for a sandwich I was not able to obtain. The staff should have helped the 1 person who was making the sandwiches early on when people were placing orders. Instead, they continued to do other things and the 2 other people were working the other line for bread/pastries. Unfortunately, this place is understaff and poorly managed. Expect to wait at least 20 minutes or more to get your sandwich order if you plan to go to this location. read more

With the construction happening at Hillsdale Mall there are few places to stop in for a casual lunch. On Saturday I had some errands to run at the mall and I was starving. Andersen Bakery is one of the only quick lunch stops open. I had gone there once before and I wasn't wowed, so I never went back. But my starving tummy didn't really have a choice so I went in again. Andersen Bakery is not great but not bad either. Their sandwiches are pretty skimpy, but hey, I guess that means it's the right size to fit in your mouth, hahaha. I had the California BLT on sliced sourdough which was pretty tasty. They add sprouts and avocado which made the sandwich have a good fresh flavor. I had a cup of tomato ravioli soup on the side. The ravioli were too soft, but the flavor was still good. They have a yummy unsweetened tropical iced tea that is tasty. For lunch Andersen Bakery doesn't hit it out of the ballpark but it also doesn't strikeout. read more

I give the bakery goods 4 stars because they are just all around deliciousness. The pastries and breads are so mouth watering, it is a treat I look forward to when I can make it there. The flavors are amazing. The customer service I receive is always at 2 stars. The servers seem to never want to help the next person in line. I feel like I have to step out of my way to get someone to actually serve my husband and I. They seem to always move slowly and it shows through there facial expressions and features that their life must be so miserable because they have to work there. read more

Perfect bread, terrible service. I've always endured their inefficiency at this store, but today marks a new low even for Andersen's at Hillsdale. I waited almost ten minutes for a loaf of bread that was already packaged. There were at least three people staffed and only one couple before me. I was repeatedly told to wait. Then the servers started helping everyone behind me, even though I was at the head of the line and the couple behind me essentially cut in line. The person in charge called someone apparently about the mixup to no avail. While killing time and getting out of the rain, we stopped here for a snack. We ordered two coffees and didn't specify the size. They were organic and (L) which I think is large $2.25 each and I had a Saffron Raisin Twist, $2.70 and my wife had a cinnamon roll, $2.10. The cinnamin roll was in a cupcake. This is my to go place to eat when I'm shopping at the mall. It is located next to Nordstrom from outside and its easy to find a parking spot. The staffs here are always friendly and greet you with a smile. Bread and pastries are freshly baked in the morning. Some of my favorites are creamy French, cheese breads, cream cheese walnut, apple raisin bread, mango coconut pastry and almond croissant. They also have really good lunch options from clam chowder soup to turkey cobb salad and variety of sandwiches. I highly recommend their spicy turkey pepperjack on soft French bun. Its one of their best sandwiches. Prices are around $6-7 for sandwiches. Which isn't that bad. Today after eating my lunch I decided to order a cake for my mums birthday. The lady that helped me was Maria, I think she's the manager. She was very helpful and attentive. Answered all my questions that I had about the order. You'd think for the price you are paying, they could offer you a side with your sandwich. Not even a pickle. Apparently, they are enjoying and capitalizing on the monopoly they have at Hillsdale Mall until the food court and mall remodeling is completed at the end of this year 2018. Let me start saying that the girl at cash register was polite and kind, the ambience is pretty basic, but you can't expect any fancy decor in a mall bakery, so absolutely no complain about that. The real disappointment to me, was just the food. May I'm extremely picky when it comes about bread/pizza, and I know that I have a very selective and educated palate for it, but said that, the bread I had didn't match my expectations . The dough, in my personal opinion, wasn't airy, the "fluffiness" was coming from a consistent amount of yeast used, and not from many hours rising process, as it should be for a quality product. It tasted highly processed (like frozen baked items) and I totally stay away from this kind of food. There were crumbs and other debris all over the tables and the floor. People had to clean off their own tables before they sat down, myself included. The only people I would advise to come here would be the people from the Health Department to check out the messiness of the place. They need to literally clean up their act. read more

A cashier gave me the wrong bread today. My daughter and I noticed that the bread tastes spicy, but we did not expect the cashier gave us a wrong one until I went back to see the bread counter. Surfed through the incredibly busy mall today at lunch just to get myself a nice hot sandwich, so me and a coworker decided to head out to Andersen's Bakery. Once we get there, we look at menu and decide what we want to get. I ordered a BLT Sandwich off of their "Hot Sandwiches" menu, and my friend ordered a Ham & Swiss sandwich. She asked if she could warm up the Ham & Swiss, and the cashier lady said "yes." After we got our sandwiches, we got our sandwiches in a brown lunch bag. Not even the kinds of bags they usually give out with their name on it. We get to our break-room and realize that our sandwiches are both COLD. The cheese wasn't even melted! On either of them! My BLT sandwich didn't even have BACON in it!!! BACON, LETTUCE, TOMATO. Instead of bacon, I got a ton of sprouts loaded on it. Andersen's Bakery should really step up their game since they're the only place to get food other than the Cheesecake Factory, which is filled with over priced fast food. I had the best vegetarian sandwich of my life here and I'll probably remember the first bite forever: the perfect French baguette crusty on the outside chewy on the inside served still warm, fresh, chilled avocado and tomatoes, refreshing sprouts, together with the creamy but not overpowering mayo. I have never expected a veggie sandwich made with such heathy ingredients could sing in my mouth, but Andersen tool me by surprise.
