I stopped in this shop to check it out. It definitely has a local vibe and is a small shop. You won;t find everything in here, but it has a small shop charm and the selection seemed to be pretty decent for its size. I chatted with the person at the shop and they were helpful and friendly. At the end of the day I did not end up leaving with any theirs, but was glad for the chance to check them out while I was in town. The parking was limited near the road, but the traffic is not terrible in the area and did not pose much of an issue. Worth checking out. read more

I couldn't recommend the folks at Seven Hills enough! I stumbled upon them back in February 2020 while looking for some trail running shoes. I came back later in the summer to get my first pair of trail shoes, which served me well and got me hooked! Fast forward to last week, I was on Instagram and a post popped up. (By the way, Phil does a great job keeping the page updated with current stock, items on sale, and group runs.) I now live out of state and nobody around here had the Salomon Adv Skin 5 in Goji Berry (the brighter the better, in my opinion...). I paid for my item online through an email invoice, received tracking info the next day (Friday), and had my running pack in-hand Monday afternoon! Absolutely incredible, Phil and his team do an amazing job assisting runners; amateurs and pros alike to find the perfect shoe. I first visited seven hills in 2019 before leaving for my southbound hike of the PCT. I was able to score a new pair of shoes right before leaving and couldnt have been happier. Fast forward to 2021 and the supply chain is hit hard. Most stores are having difficulty sourcing shoes and gear let alone keeping them on the shelf! I kept up with Seven Hills Instagram page and they do an absolute amazing job keeping customers in the loop with arrivals of hard to find gear. I was able to recently score a pair of Topo TV3s long before they were available online as most big box retailers along with some awesome Solomon swag and flasks. Phil goes above and beyond shipping orders out to me cross country ( SAME DAY!!! ) and making sure everything arrived on time and fit like it should. I absolutely love supporting shops like this that put the runner / athlete first and have an extremely expirenced staff. I am a BiPOC woman. I went to the store after someone recommended as a great place to get comfortable zero drop shoes. From the moment I walked in, I knew I wasn't welcome . The story clerk( owner perhaps?) was asking questions to help another patron to find what he needed which lasted several minutes, helped the customer try on shoes , offered him a discount and helped him check out with out so much as glancing in my direction. When it was my turn to be helped, he sat behind his register and answered my questions with as little words as possible. He was condescending and kept suggesting my choices would be out of my price range. I would never go back here and won't recommend it for someone who isn't white. read more

This is a great local running store. I've shopped here for several years, but my most recent experience is the one that stands out. I was preparing to run a 50km in a couple of weeks, a distance I hadn't done in a while, and the shoes that I had been training in were long overdue for replacement. Unfortunately, Brooks had stopped making the trail shoe that I had been using for years, so getting exactly the same shoe that I was used to running in was out of the question. I went to Seven Hills knowing that I would get good advice and I wasn't disappointed. I walked out of the store that day with a pair of trail runners that ended up being perfect for the 50km race, and I continue to be happy in them. Everyone who works here is an experienced runner, they know their stuff, they're great at answering questions and I trust their recommendations. read more

I won a raffle at one of my races so came in to redeem it here (for trail shoes). The shop is small, but the guy inside very friendly. I would have given four stars, but the selection isn't great and he had hardly any shoes available in my size. I guess a size 6 is very popular. He doesn't carry anything below size 6 either. I ended up getting exactly the same shoe model I currently have. Not that that is a bad thing as I like my current pair, but I did want to try the next model up, or something different. read more

Just the shop I've been wishing for. Drove all the way from Greenlake to shop here, and I'm glad I did. Great atmosphere, reasonable prices, but the selection is why you'll come here. They seem to have all the latest in awesome trail running gear, but roadies will find what they need too. This was the only place in town (that I know of) that was carrying the new Ultimate Direction packs. So nice to try something on before purchasing. I'm a big fan of my local running store in Gig Harbor, Route 16, but when I heard about a new store devoted to trail running, I had to take a peak (pun intended!). I loved the no-sales pitch, service focus of the store and staff. I met the owner Phil later in my shopping experience, but Malcolm took care of my shoe search. It was super fun and interesting to try on such a wide range of trail shoes from not only a wide range of manufacturers, but also multiple offerings from each manufacturer. Malcolm was very attentive, informed, and experienced in his guidance, while carefully listening to my running history, preferences, and goals. There is a nice hill outside the store, and I got to do hill repeats in 8 or so different shoes, so I got my workout in too! I came away amazed at the variety of options now available in trail shoes, and in an ideal world, I would have wanted to buy three different pairs for different settings. I bought a pair of Montrails and the price was more than competitive with other stores and even online. I got a sample of some new nutritional product, and got some great guidance on various levels of trail and wilderness running. To hear both Malcolm and Phil talk about their running and experience the palpable joy as they did was a treat. They also stock a nice selection of clothing (I picked up a elite light jacket on sale) and a selection of waterproof, tear-resistant maps. I had never heard of this shop until I won a pair of free shoes to redeem here. I arrive and the place is small without much selection. Once I walk in, I am not greeted nor asked by the guy that is working for assistance. I had to speak up to ask questions about the selection they have and the type of shoe that would best fit me. I felt like I was pulling teeth with this guy. I believe his name is Glen because he was greeted by a couple of customers when they walked in. When I walk in to Road Runner and Brooks, I am greeted and receive top notch service. This was not the case here. "Glen" should take a tip or two from the service provided by Brooks and Road Runner. Dissatisfied with the selection and the customer service. At least I got free shoes out of it. Despite this, I will not be back nor would I recommend this place to other runners. read more

What can you say about this place that everyone that shops here doesn't already know? They're absolutely amazing. I spent big chunks of this past Friday and Saturday trying on shoes, purchasing shoes, wearing shoes on a 9 Mile trail run, not liking the shoes after the run(woke up unable to walk properly), taking cleaned up shoes back with zero questions asked and complete understanding from the owner, trying on more shoes and walking out with a pair of shoes that better fit my needs. I brave a two hour round trip drive in Seattle traffic to shop at Seven Hills several times a year and it has never not been worth it. I went into the shop in Magnolia with the intention to buy a new pair of running shoes. Phil was the man who helped me. He was friendly, professional, and very helpful. He asked me about my running habits, how often I ran, what I was looking for, any complaints I had with my prior shoes. He then had me try on some shoes and take them outside for a quick run while he videotaped my feet. From those videos he pointed out that my feet needed which shoes, and he helped me to narrow my search down to two pairs of shoes. When I selected one pair, he assured me to try running a short run to see if they worked out, and if they didn't then I could bring them back. When I had my short run the next day, I realized that they were not the running shoes for me. I went back two days later to return the shoes, and he helped me to try on a few more shoes before we finally settled on a men's pair of shoes which were a perfect fit. I love these shoes. The attention I saw at Seven Hills Running Shop was completely focused on helping me find the best pair of shoes for ME. It was personal. The people here love running. They even talk about their own running group on Saturdays, they ask about upcoming races, they encourage newbie runners like me, and this lifestyle just shines in their love for their running shop. Aw, man. This place is so great. Headed by one of the most adorbs and BA ultra runners in the PNW, Seven Hills is both laid back, charming, and educational. Phil, the owner, won't get in your face when you walk in, though a certain pug named Louie may run around your ankles a bit until you've all settled in. When you're ready, Phil will answer any questions you have and several you didn't even know to ask. In short, his service is just wonderful. My man and I came here for trail shoes and reassurance about a trail race we'd signed up for against our better judgement, and Phil sized up my man's feet so his toes would stop hurting, educated us on trail running technique, and even gave us stickers! All the while using phrases like "Golly" and "Gee Whiz!" which were cracking me up. Thanks for a great experience, Phil! Best of luck to you, the store is awesome! read more

Run Magnolia! Phil opened this store last summer and I have not walked into another running store since then. I dropped in initially before the Magnolia Run the Bluff 12K to check out what the selection, and the rows of shoes has been growing. Catering to the trail runner, Seven Hills has a lot of variety of shoes for road - anything from minimal to Hoka. It is great to have a friendly running store in town. Phil is familiar with the neighborhood, and supports the parks. There is even some awesome canvas photographs of notorious, local runners up around the store. These folks know about running, walking and the shoes to go with these activities. The very nice woman who helped me, (pardon me for not knowing her name,) was really, really helpful, asked questions that helped her pick out the right shoes for what I needed, rather than what she wanted to sell me. The shoes I had were not properly fitted, and were problematic, and the Scott shoes she sold me are rather like two pillows, cushioning my feet on their 7 mile daily walk. Would I go back for something other than shoes? Yeppereeno, as they only sell the stuff you need, and I got the feeling the things they sell are things they use as well. I just recently took up running after having lost over 200 lbs. I was having a tough time finding running gear that didn't seem cheesy or was overly expensive for the quality. Seven Hills Running Shop in Seattle was referred to me by a friend and I have to buy my friend dinner now. They had the shoes I was looking for and they carry some of the best running accessories. I found actual socks that keep my feet dry; those are hard to find. The staff was amazingly friendly and knowledgeable. On a recent visit to Seattle I came across this new shop in the Magnolia district-it just opened and is locally owned-my first impression when I walked in was what a fresh-elegant space it was-highlighting vibrant running shoes on one wall and stylish(but technical)clothing on the other-I am not a runner-but I am an active 60 year old woman-I love NIA-yoga and Pilates-forms of exercise that I do in a studio-barefoot-I also love to walk-it is critical to me to take care of my feet and the right shoe is of paramount importance-(I have learned this from sad experience)-I felt welcome and comfortable from the outset-Phil-the young man who helped me has an intuitive knack for suggesting the right shoe in the right size(not easy since I have tricky feet-long and narrow with some issues)this is the first time in memory that I had a shoe feel good right out of the box(they continue to do so)I tried the shoes on with a pair of socks from the sock basket-I liked the feel of those so much I bought some -after deciding on the shoes-I moved on to the frosting-the practical yet cutting edge clothes.....I got a pair of tights that I have been wearing when it is windy here and look forward to using as a layering piece on my long winter walks-I also got some items for family members who are runners-as well as a great `Run Magnolia`T-shirt-and T-shirt with the shop name and logo on it-I have tucked those away for Christmas-in closing I would like to say that this shop is for anyone who moves-with the distinct advantage of having a resident `shoe whisperer`in Phil-when you go-tuck a treat in your pocket-if you are lucky-Louie Trailpug will be there to greet you-I would give this shop ten stars if I could......I plan on making this a regular stop when I am in Seattle...I envy anyone who is local...I have a feeling that Seven Hills Running Shop is going to just get better and better..... read more
