Andrew was able to fit me into his schedule in a short notice. When I asked Andrew for his assessment and recommendations as to what the piano needed to bring it up to its optimal potential, he assess the piano that same day and explained how each service would enhance the playing and sound quality. He also gave me a rough value for the piano as a point of reference to the amount of money I wanted to invest in it if I was planning on keeping it for a long time or selling it within the next couple of years. Great Experience! The piano was built in 1903 and is a studio console. We inherited it from my mother but since we do not play it had not been tuned in about 50 years. Andrew inspected the piano, played a few notes, ran the keyboard and said it should tune up properly. He did a few minor repairs (he called them "tweeks" ) and then tuned each key going down and up multiple times on each key and comparing adjacent keys. He was able to bring it up to concert pitch and felt that was the best approach with this piano. I The piano now plays beautifully as stated by our grandson who is a piano student and plays for us when he visits most weeks.He was the one who told us it was in need of tuning. Interestingly, Andrew said it was not that far out of tune even after all all these years and that he see that to be true of some very old pianos that have been in the same heated dry location for many years. I chose this company because they were available, had good reviews, were well-insured, and their quote came in at or below their competitors. They did a fabulous job and I couldn't be happier. The moving team at A G Piano & Violin did a careful! job of moving my Mom's 7' 9", 100-year-old, Knabe, semi-concert grand piano out of my Grandad's basement at the end of October. They had to take it around two tight corners and down two sets of switchback stairs as part of the process. They took the time to do it right. I appreciated all the padding and shrink wrap that they do standard for each job. I love that Andrew, the owner, is a Registered Piano Technician and directed the whole process. AG Piano&Violin moved my grand piano down a very steep hill. It was a very challenging move. I was impressed with how well they worked together, and were able to adjust on the fly; all while taking great care of my mother's pride and joy that I inherited (my brother would say that he was her pride and joy, but it was the piano...just kidding I was, I got the piano). I would highly recommend AG Piano&Violin. Ben, the office manager, was very helpful and informative concerning the move arrangements (he also helped move), and Kelly, I assume the lead of the move crew (not just because he's old like me), kept the operation moving, mentored the younger guys while also respecting and accepting their ideas. A fantastic job! The piano has never sounded so good, or played so well. We have a 1901 Crown upright piano that we had had rebuilt several years ago by another person. It was never really well regulated and the action was uneven. We were told that it could never be tuned to A 440 and just accepted that. We found A G Piano and Andrew and made arrangements to have him come to tune the piano. He felt that he could raise the pitch to A440, which he did. He further assessed the piano and advised that he could regulate, repin, and rebush the piano. We asked him to go ahead and do the work. The result is amazing. The instrument performs like a new piano. We are very happy with Andrew's work and look forward to his maintaining our piano for many years to come. read more

Andrew and associates are marvelous! I definitely recommend their services. We held a dinner party and hired a pianist for entertainment but the piano needed to be tuned. AG Piano Tuning agreed to come on very short notice to tune our antique Steinway and Sons. The piano was the hit of the evening. Andrew did a masterful job. The sound was perfect. He also repaired a small defect, replaced a tuning pin in need, and performed some cleaning and minor finish touch up. He was so courteous and respectful of our home. This was first time using A.G. Piano. I wanted to use someone local as my past tuners have come from Tacoma, Federal Way. It was 1 hour to 45 minutes to Yelm and I felt bad. Tenino is so much closer. Andrew was great. He spent about 1 1/2 hours on our full console. I did request a traditional auditory method and now it sounds so much fuller, blended, and clear sound. I think the price was little high at first, but now I think it was worth it. I can say, you will get high quality tune from Andrew. read more

I spent 5 years as a piano tuner/technician in the late 70s and early 80s, so I'm rather exacting when it comes to who works on my piano. My favorite Santa Fe technician moved to Spain about 3 years ago. Subsequently I couldn't find a technician who satisfied me...until I found Andrew. He is the real deal. Andrew reworked and regulated my upright Crown 1904 piano a couple of years ago and now keeps it tuned. It feels and sounds like a different (much better!!) instrument. This piano is virtually identical to the one on which I learned to play piano and I now very much enjoy playing it. I was very impressed with Andrew and Julia's move of a piano we were given. They were very timely, extremely friendly, knowledgeable, professional and very reasonably priced. I live in an old house with impossibly small doorways, and they were able to move it into the back of the house with great ease. Andrew came back a few days later to tune it after it had settled. They just came out to tune my piano this week. The tune sounds very good to me and he also fixed some of my keys that were being sluggish. He also promised that if I have another key or two that appears sluggish in the near future that he would be happy to come back and fix them for me. Not being a piano technician myself, I could only take Andrew's word for the condition of my piano. This involved some things I was hoping he could fix, but that proved to be prohibitively expensive.
