The way he does business!,…read more Dentist: i came to this man as a visitor in Atascadero and he could've given me a simple temporary re-glue of a loosened cap.....but instead his head could only think of another $4,000$ or more project.....another cap, another client. I don't know if this is a good dentist because he's never working and he's never working because he doesn't have to with the charges that he puts on. For a little tiny reglue he was charging to begin with $400 and that's before he looked at the tooth! Then he told me I should go to my own dentist 6 hours away because that dentist 'is so good'.But I happen to be here in this money sucking ToWn for a visit. Still I was sitting waiting for a dentist to simply re-glue my tooth, clean it if it need be and i would have been quite grateful. But he is so concerned about legal issues that he sent me away without a peek! Fast, non-invasive x-rays, the ability to fabricate crowns in-house, huge staff...felt like it was a step in the right direction. Fast forward to now, and I feel differently. I had one crown done, as a tooth had cracked. I was given a $1,000 estimate with the standard disclaimer that I'll be responsible for the actual amount. No problem, I know the drill, as I have had dental work done in the past. The problem was their "estimate" was 100% off, and now I'm being asked to pay $2,000 for a crown that was supposed to be $1,000. From my perspective, if my job was to deal with insurance companies on a daily basis and I had hundreds of patients and thousands of EOBs, I should be able to get closer than being half-way to the actual price. I can't help but feel like I was taken advantage of. Had I known the actual price, I likely would have shopped around and had the work done elsewhere. On my next cleaning visit, the dentist told me I needed something like 6 or 7 MORE crowns. How many of those are medically necessary, and how many are to add billable income, since they cost so much more than insurance covers, AND can be done in-house?
