Very "memorable" experience…read more I booked my appointment months in advance and confirmed when prompted. Somehow, the appointment was changed to another date after my confirmation -- with no call, no explanation, and no notice. Impressive system. I drove nearly two hours in snowy weather and arrived on time, only to be told my appointment no longer existed that day. When I calmly showed proof and tried to explain, the staff's response was eye-rolling, visible impatience, and zero effort to help resolve an error that was not mine. I was left feeling dismissed, unwelcome, and frankly uncomfortable. I can't say why I was treated that way, but it's hard not to wonder whether appearance or background played a role when basic courtesy and professionalism disappear so quickly. When I asked for their names to document the incident, they refused and told me to leave. If accountability, communication, and respectful treatment matter to you, I'd suggest confirming things multiple times -- and maybe still prepare for surprises.

During my recent visit to the dental office, I encountered some significant issues related to the…read morefront office staff's handling of insurance verification. Specifically, the staff member at the window referred to me informally as "hon" and informed me that she could not validate one of my three dental insurance plans. When I inquired if she had contacted Delta Dental to clarify the situation (as this issue had not arisen at other dental offices), she replied that she had not made that call. Instead, she intended to check benefits online, which seemed less effective than directly calling the number on my insurance card. The office operates under a policy that requires insurance eligibility to be confirmed before any dental work can be performed. I found it perplexing that, while she was supposed to be verifying my eligibility, she spent time chatting with a coworker and eating her lunch at the window. During my visit, I observed two other patients arriving and leaving before I was seen, which led me to believe they had simpler insurance situations. Eventually, after being taken back for X-rays, the dentist kindly addressed my dental issue. However, he was unable to fix my tooth because the front office staff had not verified that my insurance would cover the necessary procedure of gluing my tooth back into place. This experience made it clear that the person at the front desk played a crucial role; without her completing the eligibility verification, the dentist could not proceed with any treatment. Moreover, I noted the overall atmosphere of the office, which fell short of my expectations. With an empty waiting room when I arrived, I was surprised by the receptionist's focus on personal conversations rather than patient care. After waiting 30 minutes, I noticed she was still eating lunch, further adding to my frustration as the only patient present. Beyond staff interactions, the waiting room itself contributed to my unease. The decor was uninviting, featuring cheap rubber plants and an overall unfriendly ambiance, which heightened my anxiety about the dental visit. Given the revenue typically generated by dental practices, I believe the environment could greatly benefit from improvements--such as incorporating real plants and more aesthetically pleasing art--to create a more welcoming space. Ultimately, I rated this experience four stars due to the professionalism and kindness displayed by Dr. Duffy and April. Without their exceptional assistance, my experience might have warranted only a one-star rating. However, the delays caused by front office inefficiencies were significant and warrant attention for better patient care in the future. By the way my appointment was 3 pm by the time we finally left the office was busy!

I thought they were lying and just inflating the number like a dental practice that scams people for money. Well I think they are a dental practice that scams people because I went to see a dentist my friend recommended and turns out I only have four. Yes I still have cavities and that's not good but Indiana Emergency Dental tripled the amount of cavities I had. Not sure if they thought they were being nice to "get it out of the way before it's worse" but in my mind there is nothing nice about inflating the number of cavities I have just so you can walk away with a big pay check. On top of this I went to School with the receptionist and how cool is it to walk out of the office saying hey I remember you and now you know I have 12 cavities when it is actually four. The only reason I would ever come back to this god forsaken place is to tell that person that I didn't have 12 cavities, just four. So I do not recommend coming here. Big probability you're going to pay for a procedure you don't even need. But hey it's 2026 so if you're down to get scammed because you think it's fun that's your choice and it is definitely Indiana Emergency Dentals choice as well! Tata!

I explained that I did desperately need to be treated, because I was in a lot of pain and my insurance, which covered the cost of the treatment, was expiring that week. Then she said that there wasn't time to do any treatment that day (even though she had just told me she could treat me and I had confirmed multiple times before when setting up the appointment that there would be time). All of this happened within the span of about 5-10 minutes. I said that I had made an appointment specifically for treatment that day (and had taken the time off and moved things around for the treatment). Then Dr. Adler said she would go talk to her office manager. When Dr. Adler came back a few minutes later, she asked me to get up and follow her. I asked if I was going to be treated, and she would only answer "The office manager will explain everything." When I arrived at the manager's office, Dr. Adler quickly left me there. The office manager handed me a referral from Dr. Adler to go see another dentist. I told the office manager that I had told Dr. Adler I did want to move forward with her treatment plan, because there wasn't time to go see another dentist that week. The office manager was arrogant and rude, and refused to help me be seen before my insurance expired. I was so devastated. I had never experienced a doctor or dentist refusing to treat me, or someone acting so petty and smug about withholding treatment from me. This was all bad enough. But then 2 days later, I received a 'Cease and Desist' letter from Pure Zen's attorney stating that if I didn't remove the negative reviews I had posted on Yelp and Google following my experience, that Pure Zen and Dr. Adler would SUE ME for defamation and 'emotional distress' caused by my bad reviews. This added insult to injury, as I was the one who had actually been hurt by this whole situation. I was (and still am) the one in pain and Pure Zen are the ones who were in the wrong. If anything, I should have been suing them! But I had wasted enough stress and mental energy on them already. I responded that I knew my rights and the defamation laws and that businesses cannot win lawsuits against consumers for recounting true experiences with them online. Their attorney began to argue back and forth with me about this via email for several hours the evening before NYE, and stated that if I did not remove the reviews, then they would sue me and I would need to hire a lawyer to defend myself. They were basically trying to bully me with the threat of significant legal expenses to take down my review. When I continued to refuse, citing that my statements were true and that I would defend myself in court if necessary, Pure Zen's attorney replied that she's "looking forward" to suing me and that she may also pursue defamation charges against her law firm (Taft), though I had not mentioned her law firm anywhere online before this. This put me under tremendous stress and anxiety that negatively impacted my holiday weekend, and has continued to stress me out these last few weeks. Ordinary people should not have to worry about companies and medical practices making them go broke if they refuse to allow their right to free speech be taken away from them. It's a form of legal extortion that is wrong and something I would never expect from a medical professional. So far, I have not received any court filing notice, so hopefully this group has come to their senses and dropped their outrageous legal threat against me. It is amazing to me that they didn't just apologize, own up to their mistakes, and work with me to come up with a resolution to get me treated. That's what any good practice would have done. I just hope that no one else has to go through this.

The staff at the front desk were super friendly and I liked how they texted me the forms to fill out during the week leading up to the appointment. I therefore didn't need to arrive early, rather right at my appointment time. I had hygienist Liz and she was so friendly too. She was very informative, explaining everything she was doing and why as we went through the appointment. I had put in the form that I was potentially interested in whitening, so she shared all the information with me (you can do it at home or in office). They also had a welcome package and folder for me with a free toothbrush kit. When I left, everyone told me to say hi to my husband who'd just been in the week before. I was so surprised that they remembered his name and cared enough to bring it up. My teeth feel super clean and I feel relieved to have found a new dentist!
