I absolutely loved Terrain. We stopped by on our way to Mystic and I loved that it was connected to a huge whimsical plant store. There was a lot of indoor and outdoor seating, and we were seated indoors. They had unique brunch options and we ended up getting the shakshuka, fried avocado benedict, chocolate terrarium for dessert, and an icedsea salt caramel latte. We were given bread in a plant pot to start with honey lavender butter which was so cute. The latte was pretty good and not too sweet as a lot of caramel lattes frequently are. My bf enjoyed his shakshuka but he wished there were more slices of bread to have it with. My fried avocado benedict was unique, but I discovered the fried avocado was supposed to replace the typical enligsh muffin, which I feel like was still necessary. We ended the meal with the chocolate terrarium which was so cute and the perfect sweet treat to end the meal. I would definitely come back if I'm ever in the area! read more

Terrain Cafe is very lovely. There's lots of greenery and a beautiful outdoor space for dining. The service here is also 10/10! I recommend making a reservation online because it does get pretty busy on the weekend. We were seated right away with a reservation. We ordered a variety of things but my favorite hands down were the quinoa fritters. The prices here are pretty good for the area, but we were a little disappointed with the lack of flavor in the food. I got the avocado Benedict and my cauliflower was a little on the harder side and my avocado was bland. While the food didn't really stand out, the drinks and service made up for it. They have a great cocktail menu here. We were celebrating my friends new marriage and they provided us with complimentary champagne which was so generous of them. read more

This is a nice store and cafe. I do not know if it's a cafe WITH a store, or a store with a cafe. Whatever it is, they are doing it very very well. They have a small bar area which we ended up sitting at because I grossly underestimated how popular this place is. So please make reservations. They also have indoor and outdoor seating. The food was incredible. The drinks were very good. We went for brunch. You can tell everything we ordered was flavorful, but well balanced and utilized the finest of ingredients. This is a really cute store and cafe. The staff were super friendly. We were greeted right away and told if we need any help they'd be right there to lend a hand. The store has a TON of cute home decor and knickknacks. I could very easily put many of these items in my home. This cafe is located within a garden store, that is quite expansive and has an indoor and outdoor area. Everything was neatly organized. The prices were a little high for certain plants you can find elsewhere at almost half of the price so that was a big deterrent in purchasing any plant. Such a cute spot! Terrain Café has a charming atmosphere and an adorable little shop attached to it, which made the whole experience even better. We visited during a busy time and there was a wait, so we decided to sit at the bar and it turned out to be a great choice. We were able to eat right away and the bartenders were so fun and entertaining to watch. We ordered the Harvest Bowl and fried avocado Benedict. It was delicious, fresh and healthy and satisfying. After brunch we wandered through the shop and ended up doing a little shopping too. Overall, great food, great vibe, and great service. We'll definitely be back for brunch next time we're in town! They serve each table bread and a special butter. The bread was very fluffy and soft. The butter was flavored with fennel pollen. I ordered the mushroom frittata, and substituted the potatoes hash for sourdough. The frittata was topped with goat cheese and served with lightly dressed greens. The food was delicious. Love the ambiance here! I recommend making a reservation in advance. My friend and I came here on a Sunday afternoon and waited for only around an hour (luckily), the restaurant was packed! They have indoor and outdoor seating. What is really nice is that when you're waiting you can check out their shop and garden! It's so beautiful and they have great stuff. Their items in store and at the restaurant are a bit pricer for what you're getting though. Since it seems more upscale and farm to table I was expecting better service. Our server messed up our drinks and food order and rarely checked in on us. As for the food, I got the shakshuka which was good, not the best ever but decent. I wish it was a little more salty, but the fresh tomatoes made up for it. My friend got a frittata and thought it was okay. Needed more salt as well. The ambiance is unmatched, a really cool earthy type spot. We were met with a nice server who took our orders fairly quickly. We ordered a few different things. The flower pot bread is a cool fun thing, and it was good with the red wine specialty butter. The short rib and egg was delicious - really juicy and didn't even need to touch my knife since it fell apart with my fork. I wish they added a little more sauce to lap up the potatoes with, and it would've been great had they offered the option to add another egg for a couple bucks. Also needed a dash of salt. The mushroom frittata was good but also could've used a bit more goat cheese. I snagged a bite of the kids pasta with red sauce, and it was ok, a bit al dente. After about 90 minutes, we were asked to leave, even though I could see at least five empty tables and open space at the bar. There was no prior notice or effort to accommodate us elsewhere. The person who claimed to be the manager handled the situation poorly, which was surprising and frustrating given my past positive experiences. I do want to say that our server was very kind, professional, and attentive throughout the meal--this was not their fault at all. I'm giving a hard review on this. I wanted to love this place so much. First off, please make a reservation in advance here if you can. It was a 2 hour drive wait without which I think is a little extreme. Thankful for the garden area to eat up an hour of the wait. I hope when the weather is nice & the outdoor area is open the wait won't be as bad. The place is nice looking. It's adorable actually. So here's where things went a little further down hill for me. The machine that makes lattes/ espresso/ ect. Was BROKEN. I WAS SO BUMMED. I found the regular coffee very icky & watered down. As someone into coffee this was a huge letdown :/ I tried one of their other specials they had & I was also v disappointed. It was a hibiscus tea that wasn't steeped very long. Also I had to ask the server for everything which was frustrating. I know they're doing their best. The flower pot bread is precious & warmed. As far as the food goes, I was satisfied but not for that price point. & I don't think it's worth a 2 hour wait either. Maybe I'll try again in warmer weather! read more

Waited for 5 minutes at the reservation desk for someone to help us. A young girl finally showed looking like she just came from the gym...grey hoodie (very unprofessional). The host/hostess is the first person that the customer will engage with and a good impression is important. I work in the catering/service industry so I notice these things. The seat cushions on the chairs were dirty and stained. Waited at least 5 minutes before we were approached by a server or someone giving us water. The waitstaff is not professionally trained and they were more interested in socializing with one another than taking care of their customers. I expect more from a restaurant in Westport. I gave specifics to my server about milk for my coffee and a side of butter and jelly. I had to ask them to bring out both again. So this tells me they weren't listening and attentive. We were there for brunch and we ordered a cream of mushroom soup, breakfast plate: eggs, sausage, bacon, potato hash, sourdough bread and the lasagna. What came out was pathetic...the soup looked like cement, the breakfast platter had over hard eggs that were so burnt that they couldn't be cut with the fork, sausages, bacon and potato hash were just thrown into a deep fryer and were over cooked, burnt and difficult to cut. My husband's lasagna was creatively displayed and was actually very good, but it was burnt and you had to use a knife to cut through some parts of it. With the tip, the bill came out to $70!!! A diner down the street would've given you better quality food, service and overall experience. On a positive note, the place has a great vibe, lively atmosphere and I think going there just for drinks with friends in the bar area would be great, but don't order the food!! read more

We loved terrain so much for dinner that we went back for brunch a few weeks later! It's such a lively setting where you're surrounded by plants and can go shopping right after eating. They have an option where you can turn any of their lattes into espresso martinis which I loved! And the servers were extremely friendly. I highly recommend making a reservation as they do get packed fast! On to the food! When we went for dinner we couldn't help but pick multiple things off the appetizers menu. My favorite bites were the fried cauliflower,it was extremely crispy, flavorful and addicting, and their hummus, which was extremely smooth and creamy! The cocktails were pretty good as well and they create a seasonal list for you to choose from! The halibut was my go to choice for my entree, it was well seasoned and delicious! If you like a little bit of heat, the scallops are a tad bit spicy but overall good! Got there early and the menu was brunch. Told us if we wanted to look over dinner menu which started in 10 minutes. Kate was our waitress and was delightful. Explained everything and took her time with us. The drinks were great and appetizers delicious. The main courses were different and delicious. I had been given a gift card here from a co- worker who loves her some plants, and we decided to bring my plant living college kiddo for brunch on a Saturday morning. Plenty of parking plus one. The food itself was just too fancy and meh for me, the standout would be the bread in a flower pot which was great, the basil butter was super basil like chewing a leaf (the butter flavors change up though) I had the fried avocado Benedict, my husband the French toast (which is one large piece) and my daughter the cauliflower sandwich. The fried avocado and the cauliflower on my Benedict were unique but I missed an English muffin under it. My daughter didn't like the sauce on her sandwich, and my husband enjoyed the French toast but left still hungry. The store on the other hand is drop dead stellar, so many plants, lotions, candles, tea towels, home decor, wreaths, the outside garden area also had huge varieties. I could spend serious $$$ there but that's the other piece you are in Westport and the plants and accoutrements are Westport prices. Oh dear, my whole review just disappeared. I was singing the praises of Terrain Cafe as I went there to meet my old baby sitter. My family owned this building and used to be the old Cadillac, Olds business. My kids used to wash cars in the area where the Cafe stands. What Terrain has done with this space is unbelievable. They transformed a 1950's old man's business into a fantastic retreat for shopping and for dreaming. Every area in the store is decorated to the hilt. You will find so many items that you want, or want to gift somebody with. Out of all the stores I have ever been in, this is the most spectacular. The food is great! Unusual and exiting. Try the Terrarium desert that hass truly innovative and delicious culture. I took no this even pics of food , but noticed this incredibly beautifully display just in the walkway leading into the building. Bravissimo!!!!! read more

I wish I could give this place 4 stars but the service was so bad. Our waiter disappeared half the time, never came to refill our water. And we waited over 45 min for our main course. Our waiter never cleared any of our plates, and didn't even bring us our cheque, he was nowhere to be seen. He only showed up at the end, to swipe my credit card. It's a pity the service was so bad because the food is actually good. The fresh baked bread came in a cute plant pot, together with the special butter flavour of the day. Today the flavour was strawberry rhubarb. I had the harvest bowl which was just ok. I felt like it needed some sort of dressing, again I couldn't even ask for dressing because our waiter was non existent. I felt like I was stuck eating tasteless quinoa. I would have been better off going to Cava for the same thing for half the price, where you can get actual suace on your bowl. The appetizers were good though, I enjoyed the buratta and hummus.
