4.5 stars Wow, this place is popular! It could be that it recently opened but it does live up to the hype! Shake Shack also serves frozen custard so technically Andy's isn't the only game in town. However, Andy's has a full menu of creations and you can get chocolate or vanilla custard. Most of the items are pretty large. If I want something smaller I get the kid's sundae. For something different I like the old fashioned root beer freeze. They do gift cards but the minimum buy is $5. This place has become our family's new favorite dessert spot. Love Andy's! The line is usually wrapped around the building twice, so don't expect to be in and out quickly, but just enjoy the time with your family or friends while you wait because the custard is worth it! They make it to order so it takes a little longer than a fast food spot would, but it's for sure worth it! We drive about 30 min each way at least once a month for Andy's! The best frozen custard with the absolute worst customer service! Our family loves this place but we have experienced extremely bad service on multiple occasions and witnessed other customers being treated with the same lack of courtesy and apparent disdain for their loyal followers. Not sure if the management is staffed with inexperienced personnel, if the problems are limited to this location or if it is deep rooted problems within the company. The staff is inconsistent and several times we have walked the two miles from our house only to find the walk-up window closed and the only way to order would be to walk through the drive thru line with the cars! Dangerous to say the least! Most recently they have closed the walk up window and patio due to staffing problems. When we asked about it reopening the answer is "not for the rest of this season"!! Months!!?! If they cannot hire or keep employees long enough to learn how to operate a register then the problems must be significant. Very disappointed in the management of this company. The buck should certainly stop somewhere and not with their customers. The product itself is exceptional. read more

We went to Andy's Custard tonight. We were waiting on the drive thru line and looked inside as we were waiting. To my surprise ,not 1 employee had gloves or masks on. Gloves should be worn by employees under normal circumstances let alone during a pandemic. This is very concerning ,as all of the ice cream, cones etc was being touched .I understand we are in a time where things are starting to loosen up with the Carona virus, but, it is not ok to put customers at risk .I will not be returning because of this issue. read more

A nice Carolina day calls for custard! Hit this location which was a far cry from what I am use to seeing at the Concord location. I went thru the drive thru and was on my way in less than a few minutes. My order of choice is the James brown. This girl loves her peanut butter! They have seasonal flavors and make the custard Krispy Kreme style right in front of you. Get creative during covid and go for dessert and a show! Just social distance while there. read more

If I could leave negative 10 stars I would... this place has gone down hill. I have never been treated the way I was tonight in my entire life. This bigger guy at the window slammed my stuff down when I came up to the window to claim my order and I felt disrespected disgusted and disheartened. The awful Service here has steered me in the direction of the matthews location. They are way more respectful and polite there. And right at 11 when there had to be 15 people out front eating ice cream they turned all of the lights off as if no one was there just to be petty. Everyone else there was shocked at the way we were being treated. We called out a manager when this incident happened and all she said was "sorry I'll talk to him" nothing more. This place needs new management and new workers. Screw this place and it's staff. read more

To do a thorough and thoughtful review I'm going to need to go back several more times...just kidding...I just want to return all the time. The drive through moves quickly and it's totally worth the wait. We prefer to do the mixed custards. They offer chocolate and vanilla custard, plus a long list of mixers. Our kids really love the "James Brownie Funky Jackhammer" and we've tried many of the other ones. I love good old chocolate with reeces cups in it. But you really can't go wrong! read more

When I saw a custard store was being built just a mile up the road from us in Blakeney on Rea Road, I was a bit disappointed. I thought there might be a store or shop that would be more multi dimensional. Surely, I thought if a fast food joint was going in, I would be able to get some good iced tea. So, fast forward to now - when I see the lines wrapping around the store with both adults and kids drooling for this custard. It made me curious. And hungry. I gave in and went this evening. It took forever for the line to move because for every adult, there were about ten kids, or at least it seemed. When finally I reached the window of paradise, I ordered the Strawberry Anna Sundae. Four bites into it, I realize what all the rage is about. Their menu goes on forever and already I can't wait to try every single thing they serve up! The decor is a throwback to a simpler time and I imagine it also draws people there. If it weren't for the long lines, I would give it a FIVE star rating. Shouldn't they have built a store with twelve more windows? Shouldn't they have twelve more cashiers? Shouldn't I have known this was going to be splendid the minute I saw it was a frozen custard store? Silly me. read more

Translating to DQ terms Andy's has concrete which is DQ for Blizzard. They have a number of designed combos or you can make your own. I went with the boot daddy which has Oreo, caramel and hot fudge. Finally one car was served, then waited again for about five minutes. There had to be at least 15-20 cars in front of us. Decided at this rate the wait was just not worth it. As much as I hate to give Andy's a bad review... the service at this location is atrocious. They are so understaffed that your have to wait 30-45 minutes for custards. The owner claim that it's a "staffing shortage" which is an absolute lie. There are kids lined out the door that would love to work there. Greed is the only reason for the long waits. Please help these poor kids out and hire more people. It's completely unacceptable. read more

Apparently it was wrong because she doesn't eat nuts. She wanted the straw-Ana. My mistake. She didn't eat it and I had to pay to replace it. It's my fault for ordering the wrong thing - but when I was in service we comped food all the time of the wrong thing was ordered or the customer didn't like it so I kinda ticked me off to pay 8.50 for one ice cream. read more

Best...place...ever! I had this place when it first came out, and I've loved it ever since. I love the boot daddy, snowmonster, caramel, and the nascar one. It is also good because I can walk to it. This is a lot cheaper and it is worth it for $6 for a small concrete. $6 at coldstone is like 6 ounces which is nothing. It's always busy during the winter, fall, spring, and summer. read more

Don't get me wrong, good custard (not as good as Rita's, but the extra topping options are great). However where i have to give them just one star is because every time I've been there they've forgotten something from my order. One time they forgot multiple things and i noticed and mentioned at the window, he tried to argue with me and said i didn't order it when the lady taking my order repeated it back to me and i know i ordered 2 things. Then i drove away and remembered they forgot my side topping i paid for and had to go BACK. Another time was the worst, i took my daughter who has a nut allergy and asked please no nuts she has a nut allergy, the boy taking the order said "nut allergy got it." THEN the other boy at the window repeated when handing us the ice cream, "and her is your nut allergy ice cream." Got home to find it was FULL of nuts. What the ....actual hell lol how did they mess that up when repeating it so much. Then we drove back and they weren't apologetic at all. I also want to mention their inconsistencies. I've ordered the tin roof in a regular and a large (they only have regular and large) and every time the large is the same and one time they gave us a size neither regular or large but more like a medium? And we mentioned what happened to the large size we paid for and he kept insisting this was the large and took it out on us when we've literally been here a bunch.
