Be careful this man has no scruples. I took my Toyota Camry 2006 to fix a light coming from the gas tank cup. Andy told me that there were a bunch of problems but had no time to give me a final estimate. In turn, I asked him to call me before proceeding with the work and to check if there was anything more serious otherwise I would just trade in the car for a new model. Andy did not call me as agreed, and when I called he that there were more problems when I told him I would just sell the car, he said he already had done a lot of work, including a tune-up. I was not happy about it, but paid him over $2,000. RIGHT AFTER IF PAID AND HE SAID: if I were you I would just sell this car. I was puzzled by his remark. Just a few months later my car started making a huge noise. The mechanic who worked on my car said the engine had about 1/2 inch sludge high all over the engine and advised me to come over to see with my own eyes. I could not believe what I saw. The sludge was like 1/2 inch high thick coffee grounds mixed with oil like a cake. I started crying when the mechanic told me that there was no way for Andy to miss the problem because when Andy changed the Cover Valve Gasket Andy had to open everything and there was no way to miss it. I had bought the car second hand, 4 years earlier, and never had any problems. Obviously, the previous owner did not take care of the car, the reason why there was so much sludge, but that does not exempt Andy from telling me the truth before charging me an additional $500 for the Cover Valve Gasket. To cover up Andy said that there was a lot of oil, A LOT OF OIL, and he had to clean it for 5 hours (without consulting me). Andy showed me a picture of the bottom of the oil pan with some black marks in it - just to cover up in case I found out about the real sludge that he tried to hide from me so he could make more money and possibly get my car for cheap or something?? This was very devious and I'm disgusted by that man. I was traumatized by the experience and rushed to buy another car and got into debt. read more

I usually go here for an oil change because they get it done fast, which is good, but decided my tires were due for a tire rotation and first time ever get it done here, and Andy was the person to do the tire rotation, he removed my wheel and literally threw the wheel down on its back and made such a loud noise when he could've just spent the extra 2 seconds laying it down nice and carefully, this guy doesn't care about other peoples valuables clearly, mind you these wheels were $3500. I'd steer clear away from this place, and take your business elsewhere! read more

Man so I had a 4th & 5th visit. 4th visit had replaced my fuel injectors, unfortunately that didn't resolve my check engine light. 5th visit, my thermostat was defective. Andy got me right and was able to order an OEM Part this time as it was available. I took my vehicle to a dealership that charged over $6k for replace/replace the turbo. Went to this shop to have an intake installed on my 2021 Honda Civic Sport Hatchback. The mechanics who installed it didn't know what to do at all despite having the instruction manual right in front of them. On top of that when I got home I noticed the whole Intake system was installed incorrectly as the mechanics seemed to have cut corners rather than installing it the way the manufacturer I bought it from intended it to be installed which throws off the whole intake system. I highly recommend staying away from this shop at all costs and visiting any of the other shops in the area. read more

This place is where I take my cars for service. Most of my coworkers goes here because of my recommendation and they are all happy. I've been going here for over 20 years now. The one thing that I like about Andy is that he's honest. It's hard to find a great auto mechanic who's honest. Here's a story of how honest Andy is: I remember a few years ago when I bought a 1999 Toyota Tacoma. I gave it to Andy and told him to go through everything and tell me what I need to fix because I trust him that much. After a few hours, he called me and informed me that there was nothing wrong with my truck. If he was dishonest he could have had a field day with my truck. His pricing is very competitive, all of his mechanics are great and are very friendly. I'd like to give a shout out to Chris and Brian. Both are very knowledgeable. Brian smog checked all my cars through out the year and he's also a very honest guy. I'm very particular with who touches my cars, so as long as I'm in San Diego, Andy's my place to go. read more

I was contemplating on writing this review because I wanna keep this place all to myself! To keep it simple, Andy's Auto gets to the point. They're fast, efficient, and speedy. I came in to get my brake pads replaced, and decided to just wait in the waiting area where the office is. (Now, if they didn't wow me with their service, I would've docked a few stars due to their sad waiting room, but my experience and the cost was so satisfying, I had to bump them back up to a perfect 5!) I didn't have an appointment, so even though they were busy, I was helped immediately and was given an estimate and a time frame within the next 5 mins. 45 minutes later, the technician came back from test driving my car, and I was out the door! Their prices were very affordable, and I couldn't be happier with the status of my new brake pads. The customer service and the value here will save you a lot of money and time. Please support small businesses like Andy's, and give this small hole-in-the-wall place a go! (Their place is super hard to find, but if I can get there using the Yelp app, so can you :D) read more

I took my Buick to Andy's Auto Repair because the engine started to stumble under heavy acceleration but otherwise ran smoothly. They suggested replacing the catalytic converter and promised me the problem should be gone, although I had my doubts since the engine ran very smoothly under normal load. A clogged catalytic converter should cause the engine to idle rough or even stall but my car didn't have any of that. I wished I had rejected their proposal but I didn't. My mistake! Instead, I repeatedly confirmed with Andy that it was indeed a problem with the catalytic converter and after the repair the problem should be gone. Finally I agreed to that. It cost me more than $400. It didn't take very long for me to realize the problem was still there. By this time, I've already lost my confidence in Andy's Auto Repair and couldn't trust them with my car for further repair. I took my car to another shop for a second opinion. They scanned the car's computer for free and showed a code for random engine misfire under heavy load, and suggested a tune up of the engine, which was basically replacing the spark plugs and wires. I let them do that, and the problem went away immediately. This is very upsetting to me that Andy's Auto Repair was so incompetent and they couldn't even diagnose a problem as simple as this, and replaced an expensive part, the catalytic converter, for no good reason. I will never take my car to this shop again and suggest you think twice if you do. read more

So... What's worse than bad customer service? Condescending remarks after you decide you don't want to do the service with them. I really don't understand how place has 5 stars on the review!?? The other auto repair workers were actually somewhat nice and were pretty patient, but Andy, who's the owner is the worst. I had my car towed by AAA to this shop since their quote was somewhat reasonable. I ended paying $45 for just so they can test out my battery and when I decided that I wanted to get my car battery from them, they wanted to charge me for labor and the battery and the testing. This is usually not the case with other auto shops I've been to. Andy also made it seem like he was doing me a favor and when I told him I decided to go with AAA, which saved me about 60 dollars in the end, he was really rude! He said they had to put in so much work and that I was being a hassle! WTH.... Never again at this place! Terrible customer services and I feel like with most auto repair shops they just want to charge you more if you're a girl since they think you know nothing about car or have any intelligence! Rude! Hate this place! Misleading stars! read more

Apparently, I needed to get a smog check and I wanted to get it over with so when this place came up on my search, a good number of reviews and good ratings for an auto shop, I decided to come here. I called them to ask about the pricing for my 2004 Honda Civic. It came out to be $35 + $8.25 for the certificate which was the range my parents told me I should be getting which was great! Just letting you know, they are the LAST one on the right side in the huge row of repair garages (is that what they're called?). I parked my car, asked the man there about the smog check, I brought my car over, and I felt like in 10 minutes he was done. Maybe 15, but it was much faster than I expected. He told me he sent it to the DMV for me already, I paid, and I was out of there like that. It was super fast and they were really helpful! They made it super easy for me, so thankful. read more

I've been to place multiple times for oil changes (2000 Honda Civic - 188K), and they're ridiculously fast and competitively priced (~$25). This one time I came in for an oil change 15 mins before they closed, and I was back in my car in 10 mins! My civic had a cracked radiator, and it was spewing coolant everywhere. I brought it in smoking. They took a look at it, gave me a ~$220 quote for parts (new radiator) and labor, and in a couple of hours, I was good to go. Haven't had a problem since then. I also have a 97' Toyota Camry (200K), and I had informed them that it had trouble on a cold start, and they knew exactly what the problem was. It was a common problem with some fuel valve in Toyota Camrys. They had the part in the shop, but I didn't have the time/money to fix it, but I'm glad they knew exactly what was going on. It is sometimes hard to understand them, but they are very nice and honest, and I would definitely recommend them to others. read more

Excellent customer service. I had my car towed to Andy's after Sears Auto Center made me wait 3 hours and still hadn't even looked at my car. Andy looked at my car as soon as I got there and gave me a call back an hour after I dropped it off to give me an update. To further show his high level of customer service - My car wouldn't start in the morning and it was definitely not a battery issue (hence the initial tow to Sears), but I couldn't replicate the problem for Andy when I got there in the early afternoon. My car started every time! Andy was upfront and told me he couldn't tell me what had caused the issue without being able to replicate, but understood that I wanted to solve the problem. He offered to keep my car overnight and try again the next morning (under similar conditions as when I couldn't start my car). Car started every time again for him, and he took the extra time to see if it'd replicate in other ways and doublechecked my computer to see if that contained any additional error code. He kept my car another night to try and replicate again the next day. My car's ghost issue of not being able to start still hasn't resurfaced, but I appreciate Andy's patience, interest in my problem, upfront-ness and honesty, and detailed explanations of what he's doing to try and solve my issue. I will definitely be coming back should my ghost issue ever resurface, and if my car gives me any further issues. read more
