I brought my car (basic Lexus sedan) in for a routine oil change and asked them to look it over before a long trip home. They told me I needed rear brakes before making the drive and gave me a quote to replace the rear brake pads and rotors. They also recommended replacing the cabin air filter. The total came out to an astonishing $930, even after applying a $100 "discount" on the brake job. The pricing was absurd: * $437 for brake parts * $422 for brake labor * $133 to replace a cabin air filter Because the recommendation was presented as necessary before my trip, I decided to check the brakes myself. After removing the rear pads, they still had over 60% life left and clearly did not need replacement. Rear pads and rotors on this car are a straightforward job that typically books around 1 to 1.5 hours. Charging $422 in labor for this work is far beyond standard independent shop rates and not justified by the complexity of the job. As for the parts, they explicitly told me they would use OEM Lexus parts, but the quote listed Akebono and Advics part numbers, which can be purchased online for around $137 total. Even allowing for normal shop markup, charging more than three times retail is unreasonable. Then they wanted $133 to replace the cabin air filter. Charging that for a $15 part and a two-minute job just added insult to injury. If you're not very familiar with car repair costs, I strongly recommend getting a second opinion before agreeing to anything here. Better yet, avoid this place entirely.

Damaged starter

SCAM ARTIST!! If I could rate 0 stars I would! Went in because my car wouldn't start. They told me a wire to the starter was bad and they fixed it for $200. Tried to start it up the next day and it didn't work. They told me now the starter was bad and it would cost me $800 even though they got the diagnosis wrong. Decided to replace the starter myself and found dents in the starter where they had hit it to make it work which is why it worked for a day which they claimed to be old damage even though the dents were not covered with dirt like the rest of the starter. Asked for a refund and they said no that I had to pay for their incorrect diagnosis and dishonest work. DO NOT COME HERE. $1000 for a starter replacement is INSANE!

They went above and beyond what I expected. They explained everything to me from top to bottom. Great diagnosis this is my shop from now on. I met Albert the head mechanic And he was awesome. Moving forward like I said this would be my shop and I will recommend it to everyone that I know.

I can't recommend European Autocare and One Stop Shop highly enough…read more I was first introduced to European Autocare when AAA towed my Porsche Cayenne there after a strange issue where the audio system kept shutting down and draining the battery. The AAA driver recommended the shop, and I'm so glad he did. George, the owner, is a genuinely kind and honest gentleman. He spent about 20 minutes carefully diagnosing the problem and told me, very transparently, that it wasn't something his shop could fix--that I would need to go to the dealer for a replacement part. He didn't charge me a dime for his time. That level of honesty is rare. Since then, I've been going to him for regular maintenance on my older vehicle, and every experience has been excellent. The team is consistently professional, knowledgeable, and efficient. Pricing has always been fair--no pressure, no upselling, and absolutely no price gouging. Recently, I needed help with a bumper issue on another car and found out George also runs a body shop in San Marcos. Even though they're normally closed on weekends, he made a special exception to meet me there. When I asked if I could pick up the car at his Rancho Bernardo location after the repair, he didn't hesitate to accommodate. On top of that, my car was extremely low on gas, and he told me not to worry about it--he'd take care of it so I could get back without any issues. That kind of above-and-beyond service truly earns lifelong customers. It's rare to find an auto shop that combines honesty, skill, fairness, and genuine care for customers. George and his team set the standard. I wholeheartedly recommend European Autocare in Rancho Bernardo and One Stop Shop in San Marcos.

Two recent experiences. First a 2017 Mercedes 320E $1,900. 14 Days…read more An Active Light was replaced. The replacement took 10 days. Two weeks. I was disappointed Johnny did not point out the hood was scratched, so I had to go to the owner, George to get that repaired. The repair took a long time for a simple item then the car was damaged. When I complained they were not easy to deal with. Repair #2 Valve Gasket Covers on my 2005 ML500 $780. The job was done in less than a day, but when the car came back it smelled of gas so badly I called European Auto Care back but was advised they would not be able to review the problem for at least a week. The recently repaired valve cover still leaks, my new mechanic found a stripped screw among the at least five (5) loose screws - whilst re-securing the cover. European Auto Care needs to address some important issues.

I have recommended friends and family to L&P but mostly because I know they will do good work. I know price and time are important factors when getting your car fixed and I can say that it has been satisfactory each time. The customer service and focus on attention is important. Lair puts a lot of his dedication and knowledge to work and his team is always helpful. It was about time to write an update as I changed cars and needed to replace front break pads and get an oil change. With pricing it is up front, and if you are ever uncertain just ask. I never had a moment where they charged more than needed to and actually they source parts quite quickly. If I need a quick diagnosis or check up they are always down to do that. I keep returning because of the service and of course because cars need the maintenance. It's a good sign that I've been going here since my last review.

DO NOT GET SCAMMED LIKE I DID! I've been bringing multiple cars to this shop since 2022. That ends…read morenow. Less than 2,000 miles ago, during an oil change, I specifically asked them to check my brakes and was told they "looked good." After recently hearing metal-on-metal, I brought the car back and was told I needed new brakes and rotors. Only then was I informed the brakes had not actually been inspected because the tires couldn't be removed--something that was never communicated at the time. For context, this same shop replaced my brake pads and rotors less than 20,000 miles ago, which makes this situation even more concerning. I was quoted $900 for the repair. I got a second opinion and found a more reasonably priced and transparent shop. This raised serious concerns about whether I was being properly advised in the first place. When I declined the repair, I was told the vehicle could not be taken unless it was towed, requiring me to arrange and pay for a tow just to retrieve my own car. Given that this involves a critical safety system that I specifically asked to be checked, the lack of communication is unacceptable. After years of trusting this shop with my vehicles, this experience showed a clear lack of transparency and accountability. Lesson learned. I will be reporting this. Do not go here.

I brought in my Honda Ridgeline for an issue with my AC. Jason worked with me at the front-desk and went above and beyond to understand my issue and the troubleshooting I had already done. He explained to me CONCISELY what the feasible issue may be, and how they were going to approach a diagnosis. Jason was extremely knowledgeable, and followed up promptly to discuss the fix. Pedro was also exceptional. He found the issue (rodent-chewed wires) and repaired it perfectly. When I picked up my car, he was as excited as I was to have helped me. Before Miramar Auto, I took my truck to the Honda dealer, and they charged twice as much for a diagnosis, only to tell me that I would need a new compressor (incorrect diagnosis) and that it would cost twice as much as I ended up paying out the door at Miramar auto. I couldn't believe how easy Miramar Auto made it. To say that Jason, Pedro, and Miramar Auto are honest, fair, and made me feel taken care of... would be an understatement. They have rightfully earned another lifelong customer. Thank you Miramar Auto!
