I learned custard can't be called ice cream because it's heavier in butterfat content than ice cream, resulting in an extra rich and thick consistency (like "concrete" as ordered), which then translates to a GREAT treat after dinner or on a warm summer evening! I simply ordered a small chocolate malt with extra malt! Just the right amount of chocolate for my taste, and so thick you had to work to get this through a straw; in fact suggest to get a spoon as an easier way to eat it. Andy's has been serving Custard treats since the mid-80's, and now have quite a few locations across Missouri and Arkansas that I've seen. Definitely yummy ice cream and we always try their seasonal treats. My favorite is their pumpkin pie concrete but I'll usually opt for a James brownie concrete. The staff is usually friendly and quick. Sometimes they seem annoyed to be helping us. My Husband & I took our Grandson out for ice cream tonite. I admit we probably visit a bit much A young man with curly dark hair was working at the front window waited on our Grandson first. Absolutely delicious!! My senior manager highly recommended this place, so I ordered a small cup of vanilla frozen custard to try. The custard is super creamy and rich. I am so in love! The place looks old-school with their sign, menu, and drive-thru. Apparently they have seasonal flavors, but the original is pretty darn tasty as is! Excellent frozen custard, as good as any I have ever had (and my St. Louis friends who are Drewes fans might take note). Andy's has an extensive menu of toppings and mixes, but there are only two flavors of custard: vanilla and chocolate. No problem! I had the "stolen brownie sundae" which was vanilla custard with a bunch of roasted pecans, hot fudge and big pieces of brownie. Heaven in a cup. Sadly, I could only manage to eat half of the "small" size. There's a lot there. My wife had a custom concrete - chocolate custard, espresso, hot fudge and heath bar pieces. She's going to have some trouble sleeping tonight! But she says that it was totally worth it. She also could barely eat half of it. Tip: the "small" is plenty. I can't imagine anyone eating an entire "large" by themselves. Well, maybe I can. There are some big people in this part of the world. Very inexpensive, our two desserts were less than $10. I'm an avid ice cream lover, and I'd go out on a limb and say Andy's Custard Shop is even better than any ice cream parlor I've visited. A word of advice, though, I tend to get smaller sizes of their items for two reasons 1) they're very rich, aka very fattening 2) their custards tend to get pretty pricey, so be prepared to spend a bit of cash when you visit. They are custard, not Ice Cream, just pointing that out first. They are hands down the best option in town for a cold treat. the prices may be a smidge higher than other option, but I am willing to pay for a great product. The staff is always very friendly and attempt to serve you as quick as possible. Expect long lines in a Friday's and Saturday night. A personal suggestion/preference is to be aware some of the chocolate items can be over intensely rich such as the triple chocolate concrete(for my liking). They are fully described in the menus, so there isn't any surprise. My standard go to is the James Brownie Concrete. read more

Actually, I refuse to try any other flavor because it's the perfect trio: chocolate ice cream, chocolate chip cookie dough and melted chocolate chips. During my last visit two visits, I added marshmallow cream - this took it to a whole other level. In my next visit, I might venture out and try the red velvet concrete. If you haven't ever had frozen custard before, you are missing out! I used to eat it in Wisconsin and then moved away and haven't had it for years, so I was so happy when I came across this place in Bentonville. This may be one of the saving graces of having to come here for work -- I'll now be back on every business trip! This place looks like it's out of the 60's or 70's, a stand-alone place in the middle of a parking lot, with a drive thru, and an old-school menu on the side. There are no seats inside, but you can linger outside and eat, and watch them make the fresh frozen custard. Their signature frozen custard is the vanilla, and you can mix in different toppings / flavors, or get pre-made ones. They have so many options, you'll be bound to find something you like, or have a hard time deciding between so many delicious flavors. They also have seasonal flavors, to make your decision even harder. When I went (March 2016), they had thin mint cookies and a red velvet cake. I ended up going with the red velvet cake, which was delicious, but a bit on the sweet side for me (I think the frosting was mixed in). I also tend to prefer chocolate mixed in with my ice cream. My coworker got the thin mint one and I really liked it a lot - better than mine, I had food envy! The size of the frozen custard is enormous; they should offer smaller sizes. I got the smallest size possible, but it was basically almost a Solo cup, filled with frozen custard. Don't get my wrong, I love ice cream and will eat too much of it in one sitting if it's in front of me, which is what happened in this case. For $5, you'll get enough frozen custard to be enough calories for 2 dinners, or big enough to share with another person. I'll definitely be back here to try other flavors, and there will definitely be a next time. This is the best part of coming to Bentonville - if you're here, don't miss it! read more

Came by after a dinner with my coworkers to grab some dessert. It was 40s outside so it was probably a bad idea and partly why it wasn't as pleasant of an experience... we were freezing during and after! The employee at the counter was super friendly and immediately took our orders. We parked and ordered but it looked like a lot more people drove through instead. I tried the jitterbug concrete since it looked popular but I should've probably read the description - I don't like coffee flavors that much and actually was looking for something fruitier. I've only had frozen custard once before this, and it was definitely creamier than regular ice cream. The difference wasn't like huge though and I didn't really develop a preference.
