This is a great locally owned business. Andy farms like we used to in the Santa Clara Valley, with good quality fruit and local walnuts. He really does the best for his customers as does his assistant Lisa Silva. HIs dried apricots are miles ahead of the poor quality imported "Mediterranean apricots" from Turkey which are tasteless and colorless. The quality is well worth the price at Andy's. Stop and try the almond brittle. It beats peanut brittle hands down. read more

We were lucky to book a tasting & tour at Andy's Orchard well in advance (5 months ahead) before they sold out. I highly highly recommend it for families, kids, and outings. They only do tastings during the summer months, so it is a bummer we can't go ahead until next year but we are totally already looking forward to it! Each ticket was $25 for adults, or anyone over 11 years old. Children under 11 are free and there are discounted prices for seniors. I want to take bet that we probably tried over 50types of peaches, nectarines, plums and other fruit varieties. And even though you are only to take 1-2 pieces of each variety, my plate was full at the end of each section. Who would've thought there are like 20+ different kinds of peaches in the Silicon Valley? Some of my favorites were the Snow Beauty peaches, the Italian Ice peaches, as well as the green gage plums. But many were delicious and after awhile, they start to taste the same but they were still flavorful. The kids enjoyed fruit picking on the tour of the orchard and were able to pick some and taste along the way. You can purchase by the pound the fruit you pick or you can get some at the store. They also sell chocolate covered treats and desserts in the shop. Overall, still highly recommend trying this out. You can also just visit them and purchase fruit by the pound. I like that they have a"cheaper" section for "ugly" fruits and I was able to snag a couple of bags of delicious peaches there. read more

Yay! It's stone fruit season again! My wife is on their mailing list so we're kept apprised of what's coming up and what's already in season. We'll probably be making the one hour drive down every two or three weeks for the next three months. I highly recommend that you get on their mailing list or call down to see what is in season the day before you drive down. Andy's only picks fruits at the peak of ripeness and the fruits are super sweet. That also means that something that you buy today and enjoy, don't expect to find it again three weeks later. And because fruit is dependent on weather cooperation, the same fruits will not necessarily ripen at the same time each year. I was looking for date ideas for my partner and I last year. Somehow we stumbled upon Andy's Orchard for a fruit tasting event. When we went last year, we tried soooo many different types of fruit I seriously can't even remember how many there were. It was a really fun date with minimal stress. All of the fruits were so sweet and the perfect ripeness! This year when we went, we tried the stone fruit tasting. It was soooo yummy! I wish I had a charcuterie board with me because the peaches, nectarines, plums and pluots were so juicy and sweet! I didn't get to try the tours or the fruit picking but those are options to can add to your trip. If you like the fruits you tried, you should go pick them! It is cheaper than buying it in their shop. Their shop was packed by the way. However they still had great service! This place has lots of passionate staff members! I grew up calling them Indiana Bananas and spent many Sunday afternoons driving around Ripley County, Indiana with my father, looking for wild papaw trees. We were seldom successful. Their texture is close to a banana, mango or pineapple. I never liked them. Andy's Orchard store is a short drive from San Jose and is a fabulous place. Unique varieties of seasonal fruits and nuts, specialty breads, olive oil and honey, dried fruit and artisanal cheeses. There are also jellies and jams. It would be very easy to spend $1,000 in a brief afternoon visit. I was able to restrict myself to a few cheeses and some nuts. read more

Love, love, love this fabulous country store! It's conveniently located on the way from my home to my parents' house. It's dream come true during cherry season, and never disappoints. It's a beautiful spot, these orchards, and the store itself is located near the end of a country road where I always catch a glimpse of a rooster or two. In addition to the delicious fresh fruit, they also carry incredibly tasty dried fruits, jams, nuts, tapenade, honey, pies, chocolate covered dried fruit, and more! I'm reposting a review of mine that was written in 2018. Apparently it was taken down because it must have been offensive when i used the word "Sombrero" in describing a hat. Ok...my review has changed to "cowboy hat" lol.... Wifey booked the fruit tasting tour from their Yelp page. She was so worried that I wasn't going to enjoy it bc I told her in the past that cherry picking is a waste of time, expensive, tedious, and not worth the drive to Brentwood. Luckily for us this location is very close to where we bought our new home so if this pans out, will be a treasure. The weekend we went was so pleasant in terms of weather condition: sunny but not hot and no wind to kick up a dust storm in the orchards. We saw people wearing safari hats, cowboy hats, and lathered in sunscreen and i was worried bc I totally forgot my PPE. To my surprise all the tasting was done under the shade and spread out to accommodate the 100-200 visitors nicely. Before visiting this orchard I thought there was only 2 kinds of peaches: white and yellow. Wow was I wrong. There are literally dozens and dozens and you got to try them. They hand you a paper plate and a plastic fork and it's like a day of hitting up Costco peach, nectarines, apricots, pluots, and cherry samples without waiting for the women to put them in the sample cups. They do such a wonderful job bc each fruit is sliced small enough for you to get a good sample of the flavor without filling you up. Behind each tupperware tub is the actual fruit so you can see what it looks like unsliced. I promise you that you will never ever ever find stone fruit like this in the store bc they only pick them off the tree when they are ripe. Stores need to pick them when they are hard still so they don't bruise and this disrupts nature's process of ripening. Each fruit is SO fat, juicy, and sweet! As part of this experience, you are given a bucket and brought out on the orchard to pick your own fruit. During this time you are free to sample them right off the tree. Now if you are cheap like me, you are probably going to try to eat your admission fee worth of fruit but karma will pay you back with a tummy ache so please refrain from doing this. You're welcome. Once you are content with your pickins you head over to the register area where you'll pay the event discounted rate so please remember to bring cash. So grateful they didn't weight me before and after the event. We will never buy store-bought stone fruit again after this event. It completely ruined my taste buds and expectations. I'm glad the Mariani family decided to keep one of the very few orchards still in existence. We will definitely frequent this place to pick up our summer treasures once we settle into this great town. read more

This is my second time here and both times I've found unique finds & treats. They carry several local items like honey, soaps, nuts, and pies. My kids loved the variety of fun honey sticks. Their fruit is fresh & flavorful, but the best buy by far was the Nectarine & Blackberry Pie made by Sweet Dragon Bakery. The cashier was very helpful and polite. I haven't explored the entire property, but the store is a small, quaint, country store that feels like a hug from your grandma. The only reason I didn't give them a 5 star rating is because the prices are on the steep side. read more

My family moved to MH ~7 years ago and we've always heard of Andy's Orchard (AO). We finally made a visit a month ago to pick up some Rainier cherries (RC). The store is very small but has a nice selection of the seasonal fruits. We opted for a small basket of RC, local honey and some dried fruit. When I got home I ate the entire basket by myself! They are honestly some of the best cherries I've ever had. I had to go back to AO the next day to buy another basket so that my family can enjoy. Thinking it was a fluke, we went back the next week and obviously got a large basket of RC, peaches and nectarines. Again, some of the juiciest, sweetest and honestly best fruit I've had EVER. It makes me sad that it took us 7 years to find this gem. All employees are very polite and helpful. I swear the fruit taste better than candy! If you've been wanting to visit AO, dont hesitate like us! Look forward to our next visit and buying a lot more fruit, locally baked pies. It appears that my locals love their pies. Andy's Orchard is probably the best stone fruit orchard in the Bay Area. The host various events throughout the year were you can taste seasonal fresh and dried fruit. During the summer months they hold regular events were you can pick fruit from their orchard and purchase what you pick. They have a variety of unique and heirloom variety stone fruits during the summer months. They will even provide you with a calendar of when to expect certain variety of fruits during the season. They also have other fruits during year including figs, cherries, and persimmons. They will also have a small selection of seasonal vegetables. They have a robust section of "ugly fruit" that taste perfectly fine aside from being ugly or bruised. The ugly fruit is usually priced super cheap at 1$/lb. In my weekly visits to Andy's I maybe had one fruit that wasn't up to par! While it is usually hit or miss when buying fruit at a conventional store you can expect perfectly ripe and in season fruit at Andy's. You can find delicious eats year round at Andy's due to the fact that they sell a large selection of dried fruits that they dry at the orchard. You can find dried stone fruits year round and some specialty items seasonally. You can get sugar plums and dried persimmons in the winter months and through the new year. If you're looking for one of the best orchards in the Bay Area Andy's may be your best bet at seeing what once filled the valley. read more

Please visit their website or FB page to see when the next event is. They do however have a store that's open on-site that one can visit anytime that sells their wares as well as other locally sourced products (e.g., honey, baked goods, etc). With that said, the boy and I visited Andy's to do one of their tastings, tours and pickings ($15/adult & $2.75/lb* fruit) recently and we had a great time. The tastings involved dozens of rare and never before seen (by me at least) cherry and apricots varieties. They also had local honey tastings, dried fruit―and their amazing chocolate-covered apricots! Ridiculously good... The tour and picking part was lead by one of their docents who takes you thru their orchards and explains to you about all the varieties and shows you where to pick. As much as I love tastings this might have been my favorite part of the day. My son had a blast picking fresh fruit and eating them straight from the tree. You really haven't tasted fruit if all you've ever done is buy it from the supermarket. Overall really fun way to spend an afternoon, get in some steps and eat a ton of freshly-picked, delicious fruit. The fruits here are fantastic and don't be put off by the bargain bin. These fruit grow and burst with flavor (literally) and not marketable at the "grocery" stores so they often have the best flavor at super discount prices. If your making pies or jam, these are the ones you want. There are other items that are brought in and resold, like macadamia hurts, etc., Huy those who know food will appreciate the local and seasonal selection. Because they don't need to pack and shop these places are great for getting produce at its best. The corn was amazing!!! To end, I've been rating the restrooms. Went to the annual holiday open house this weekend. Was really looking forward to it! What a huge disappointment. Nothing like in years past when the occasion was held outdoors under a covered patio area with heat lamps and festive music and decorations. The long tables with samples to taste of every kind of dried fruit, nuts , and sugary confection while you sipped on cider, coffee and eggnog. After sampling, you knew exactly what you wanted to buy and left with lots of goodies to take home or gift to others. This time around was nothing like that! The dismal sampling options were inside the store laid out very sparsely next to items for sale. Mostly just dried fruit samplings. The prices are noticeably higher also with smaller portions. I went in on a Saturday during the holidays and it was fairly busy with people going in and out of the shop. Before I reached the entrance of the shop I surrounded by tons of fruit, nuts, popcorn, and chocolate samples on long tables outside. There were also egg nog, tea, coffee, and hot chocolate available. Everything I sampled was good and I wanted to purchase them all. After trying several samples I went into the shop to see even more fruits, nuts, popcorn, and chocolate to purchase. There were a lot of boxed items as well which looked perfect for gifts. This was my first time here. My sister had to stop and pick up last minute Christmas gifts so we tagged along. Sure glad we did. We missed out on the fruit samples, but we did buy some of those chocolate covered apricots and chocolate covered peach donuts . They are my husband's favorites. I haven't been to the store yet, but I did get to try a Sugar Plum (see pics) my co-worker bought for me. Sugar plums are only available Nov & Dec so if you want some better hurry. It's basically a stuffed prune filled w/ nuts, apricots, a rum glace, and a dried cherry in the middle. Sweet and sticky, it's really good. I only got one, which cost $2.25 for a tiny 5 bite thing. If you buy more it's cheaper of course. Read Aaron R.'s review cuz it's really good. I plan to support Andy's Orchard even though it's maybe 1.5 hrs from Fremont. I looked at he pictures on here and on Facebook and thought, wow I have to go check this place out. It reminds me of the little store at Gizdich ranch. But there wasn't much selection when we went. They had some different candies, a few different kinds of tomatoes, and some random fruit. I got chocolate covered apricots and pineapple guava. The lady said it tasted just like pineapple. I haven't had guava before but I really did not like it. It didn't taste like pineapple nor was it sweet. It was just gritty like a pear. This year was a bad year for cherries. Most posts online indicated 25% of normal bing cherry crop. :( My husband really wanted to take our 2 year old daughter cherry picking but driving to Brentwood seemed far, with bad traffic and without many cherries for harvesting. I found Andy's on Yelp and they were much closer for us to drive to. I decided to buy tickets for a tour and tasting on Father's Day. Since they don't allow picking of their fruit all the time, I figured paying $15 an adult would be worth it since we would be guaranteed cherries along with other stone fruit. We arrived right before 10am and the place was hopping! Cars were parked all along the road. We quickly checked in and decided to join a tour and do the tasting later. All the staff were super friendly and very informative. Andy tagged the ripe fruit trees with bright yellow caution tape so we knew which ones to target. Our guide made sure we got to taste and pick to our delight. We ate so much fruit while hiking around the orchard! Even though the orchard only produced 10% of their usual bing cherry crop, there were lots of other delicious varieties of cherries to harvest. It was a good thing we went on an early tour instead of doing a tasting because it was such a busy day that afterwards when we went to revisit some of our favorites, most of the ripened fruit had been picked! Needless to say, our 2.5 hour visit (which could have been longer but we had lunch reservations) was NOT disappointing! We ate and picked some of the most delicious peaches, nectarines and cherries while learning about all the varieties, how the orchard is set up and what some of the growing practices were. Fruit you take home in your bucket costs $3.50 a pound, whatever you take home in your tummy is FREE. ;) All in all, we spent over $50 on tickets and fruit. But most importantly my husband loved his Father's Day and had a blast! Well worth the short drive, plentiful delicious fruit and friendly staff. Tip: Whatever you can't find in the orchard or isn't ripe yet, we were told you could just call and place an order for when the fruit you want becomes available and they'll hold some for you. read more

Take pictures and note all the fruit you like when tasting! My friend Invited me for a fruit tasting and picking event and there were at least 100 different types of fruit consisting of plums, pluots, nectarines, and peaches and I wish I had done that from the beginning. On the tour you can mention which ones you like so they can tell you where it's located or available for pickings The most popular ones weren't available in the store so it's best you pick them. The cost is $2.95/lb if I remember correctly which is cheaper than the store price. If you are going to different orchards you may pick and have them hold your bucket for you so you can get another empty bucket for the next orchard (that way you don't lug around all that weight) You are required to wear close toed shoes which makes sense since my shoes were ruined by the end of it. The fruit was amazing. I highly recommend Green Gages and Summer silk and Silk nectarines. The other peaches were great and I've attached photos of my favorites. read more

I stopped by the country store here. The store smelled delicious and I was excited to purchase some fresh, ripe fruits. I bought several varieties of peaches, apricots, and dried fruit. The peaches were large and juicy, but not the best I have ever had. We had peach trees in our backyard while growing up, and I do not think the peaches surpassed those. The apricots were also large and juicy, and I think I liked them more than their peaches. Note: All fruits are very ripe, best eaten the day of purchase. They are not for storing to enjoy later. The dried fruit and chocolates were tempting. I liked the dried Rainier cherry raisins and apricot tangos (fruit logs) -- new things for my taste buds. It was interesting to me that they sold chocolates that had nothing to do with the fruit on their farm. I held off purchasing those, as there are many better chocolate shops around. Note: There are preservatives used in the dried fruits even though everything is local. Overall, I think Andy's Orchard is worth a stop if you are in the area, but I would not go out of my way. Their staff is knowledgeable and will answer any questions that you may have. They also have dried fruit, candy, pastry and other related items in the store Don't get this confused with fruit in the supermarket.
