I live in Nocatee and have been to this place a few different times. Most recently, I got their lunch fajitas special and it's an amazing deal. There's enough food for about 4-6 fajitas and my mom and I split the meal along with chips and salsa. I really value finding a spot that has Great prices and large portions and Anejo definitely just didn't disappoint. (I've also had their ceviche, which was some of the best I've had in the area.) Our service was lovely and I felt very taken care of. That atmosphere is great. I love the decor and it's very well lit. They have both indoor and outdoor seating and a large space. This is a perfect spot for lunch or dinners and they run a pretty good happy hour too. read more

Dear Añejo Leadership, I am writing to share a very disappointing experience I recently had at your Nocatee location. I have always enjoyed Añejo and, as someone who lives close, my family and I visit approximately once or twice each month. Unfortunately, this visit left me shocked by the level of customer service I received. I placed an online order for the Burrito Fajita. The item is listed under the burrito section of the menu, and the description clearly indicates that it is a burrito filled with a variety of ingredients. However, when I opened my order in my car, I discovered that I had received what appeared to be two small rolled tacos covered with cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, and sour cream. Inside was only meat, cheese, and peppers. It looked nothing like the burrito that was described on your menu. Believing that my order had simply been prepared incorrectly, I politely returned to the restaurant with my food and explained the discrepancy. Rather than acknowledging that the menu description did not match what I had received, I was told that the order was correct and that the only option was for me to purchase another burrito. A young male manager then came to speak with me. Instead of listening to my concerns, he repeatedly insisted that I had received exactly what I ordered. He asked me, "What do you expect me to do with the food that's already been made?" in a condescending manner, and continued to tell me there was nothing he could do other than charge me for a new item. I explained again that my issue was not that I had changed my mind, it was that the item I received did not match the description of what I had ordered. After spending nearly $27 on one burrito, chips, and salsa, I simply wanted to receive the meal that was advertised. The conversation then became even more uncomfortable. The manager told me that because I "didn't know what I ordered," the mistake was on me rather than the restaurant. He then asked whether I came to that location often. I replied that I did, explaining that I live nearby and visit once or twice a month. His response was, "Well, if you come here so often, how do you not know what you're ordering?" The implication was that this entire situation was somehow my fault, despite the menu description clearly not matching the product I received. Throughout this interaction, I felt dismissed, spoken down to, and even laughed at. I have never experienced a restaurant manager treating a customer with such little respect. It was only after I stated that I intended to share my experience on social media that the manager finally agreed to make me another burrito. Unfortunately, he did not prepare a fresh meal. Instead, he appeared to take the ingredients from the original order and simply wrap them into a tortilla without even grilling or pressing it. It was obvious that this was not a newly prepared item. I am a food and travel content creator, and my original intention that day was actually to feature Añejo in a burrito roundup, providing complimentary exposure for your restaurant. Looking back, I'm grateful I hadn't filmed my content before this interaction. It was incredibly disappointing to see how quickly the response changed only after I mentioned the possibility of sharing my experience publicly. My reason for writing is not simply to complain. It is because I genuinely hope no other customer is treated the way I was. Everyone deserves to receive the item they ordered, and more importantly, to be treated with respect when they calmly raise a legitimate concern. Money is tight these days and I feel that people should spend it at places that truly care for their customers. I have visited hundreds of restaurants as both a customer and content creator, and I can honestly say this was one of the worst customer service experiences I have ever encountered. Ordered takeout for 3 people. Loved the guacamole, salsa and chips. Other mains we ordered were ok - good. One main was not prepared as it had been in the past and didn't look like the picture posted by the restaurant. Not sure if the staff is being properly trained on assembly of the menu items. Went for an early dinner to Anejo in Nocatee with friends. Started with trio dip and chips. All were tasty and fresh. I ordered the chicken quesadillas they were also good but the plate was chipped in several places. Other entrees were fajitas which were served steaming hot and looked delicious and enchiladas. I was concerned while entering and exiting the restaurant due to very slippery tiles. Our shoes were literally sliding! All in all it was a pleasant meal. read more

I recently celebrated my 50th birthday at Anejo, there were several disappointing aspects that overshadowed the experience. The margaritas were the highlight--strong and well-made. Unfortunately, that's where the positives end. The food was subpar. I ordered the Shrimp Enchiladas, which were supposed to come with Mexican rice. When I mentioned this to our waitress, she dismissed it, insisting that enchiladas don't come with rice. I asked twice to see a menu to verify and was never given one. Service overall was mediocre. What really was a bummer was that while five other tables received birthday songs and celebrations during our visit from staff, I didn't--despite my mom and sister asking three different servers and even me sporting balloons and a gift bag ( um hello, should not of been a question why we where there) . It felt like I was completely overlooked. I'm giving it 2 stars instead of 1 because I didn't let it ruin my milestone birthday, but honestly, the experience left a bad taste. We brought my family that was visiting from NY and we had fun. I enjoyed the chicken quesadillas and could not finish them. There chips are addicting and add the fresh guacamole to top them off. I needed to eat more food before heading home so fellow Elite Crystal O. and I came back to Anejo after the Elite event. We didn't want to eat anything heavy, just enough to feel satisfied. The complimentary chips and salsa was good, especially the extra kick of peppers, maybe fire roasted. I loved the flavor. We walked in a waited a minute or two to be seated as they were pretty busy. I guess this one of Nocatee's good places to get Mexican. We were seated and only asked for water. Looking at the menu, I settled on the Veggie quesadilla (shredded cheese, mushrooms, bell peppers, onions, tomatoes, black beans, white rice, sour cream, pico de gallo, guac) while she got a chimichurri taco (skirt steak with chimichurri sauce, fresh lime, pico de gallo, cabbage and queso fresco). Our food was good but I really enjoyed the time I spent catching up with my friend. If we were closer to home I'm sure we would've had drinks because I know for a fact that their drinks are firrrre. We've been regulars at Anejo since moving to the area, and we've yet to have a bad meal. Service is alway friendly. The margaritas are apparently excellent. They are always kind to our toddler who is a big fan of the guacamole and the burrito on the kids menu. We usually just do the guacamole for an appetizer and it's great, along with the chips and salsa. For entrees, my favorites are the chile relleno (best with shrimp) and the enchiladas poblanos with mole - but I've liked the flautas, fajitas, puffy mahi tacos and shrimp al mojo, too. My husband's a big fan of multiple steak dishes, along with the mole. Sorry to hear others have had bad experiences here lately, because we're big fans. read more

Customer satisfaction doesn't seem to be a priority, and it shows in both the quality of the food and the service. At this point, I've decided I won't be returning. I was in the Nocatee area for an event so we decided to pop into Anejo Cocina for dinner... the salsa tastes similar to Taco Bell sauce idk if it was off that one night or what but it was kind of nostalgic. Anyways, the bartender was really helpful & made great drinks & helped point us in the right direction for food selections. My only issue was the speed of service. They seemed to possibly be understaffed or something that night but aside from that the food was good. I usually don't bother with bad reviews but I had not been here in a year and I thought I might have a different experience with so much time passing by. I like to sit at the bar because I regularly dine alone and the first thing I notice is the same surly bartender that I had often encountered before. I'm not looking for a bartender to keep me company but I would like to have service, especially since the bar was empty except for one other couple. I did get a drink but I didn't get a chance to order food due to inattentiveness of the bartender who disappeared to watch TV. When I got tired of waiting - I asked a woman who happened to go behind the bar to settle my bill and she was the only one who asked me if I wanted food - which I politely declined. I'm not sure how this guy keeps a job unless he's family or he has a "side business" that keeps him employed. I've heard other people say the same things about this location. But for me - I'll drive a little further and get better bar service, better drinks that I'm confident in what I'm getting, and better food overall. I wish it was different but it's not. First time at one of the many Anejo's in the Jacksonville area and I will say tis location is very nice. Plus they have 2pm to close happy hour so how does one not like it. We were seated and of course had some chip and salsa some out. They are still keeping them free. When looking at the menu I will tell you that it's huge. It's 2 massive pages one of which is all drink and most of which are a kind of Margarita. If of course panicked with too many options and just went with a large house marg for $8. You can't beat that, gotta love happy hour. I of course had to go for a burrito for my entrée and this time I went with the Anejo Burrito Loco with steak. Our food quickly came out and damn, this burrito is massive. I made sure to take a picture of it next to my folk so you can really see what this thing is about. Now it does come stuffed with pretty much everything you can imagine but there is still plenty tender steak in to too. I also does normally come with black beans but i was able to which that out for refried beans. The only thing that I wasn't the biggest fan of was the rice had carrots and peas in it. Now I'm fine with that just not something I was expecting. Anejos is for sure a great place to meet up with friends get some good food and drinks and have a good time. Last experience here was horrible! Their new menu had major price increases ... $3 or $4 on all entrees... plus they charge a credit/debit card surcharge on all non-cash transactions. My last visit had a 50 minute wait once we were at the table until our food was served. No explanation or apology from the staff other than they were "short-staffed" once I asked why we had to wait so long. It used to be a favorite of ours in Nocatee - but now we'll just find other options when dining out. read more

we took another couple with us to Anejo Nocatee to celebrate my birthday. The hostess haltingly accepted my reservation early that day, saying they usually need 24 hours, which surprised me bc they weren't very busy. So it's the first time we've been back since we moved here last October, and the food and drinks are still as good as we remembered. Very friendly staff. Then our friends complained about the fact that our sweet server-Maria, misheard my husband's order and brought out shrimp fajitas rather than shrimp burrito- ultimately the same thing so he should have just kept the fajitas. The replacement came out quickly. When she heard that, she took back a tiny foiled packet of flour tortillas, even though our friends were sharing steak fajitas and really 3 tortillas were not enough for 2! My order of 3 Mexican steak tacos with onion and cilantro and green salsa were very good, served with rice and beans and crumbled white cheese, not smothered in melted yellow cheese product, so much more authentic to what I'm used to, having spent 40 years in NM. My husband had enough for 3 lunches after he after he ate some of his burrito! My friends had more than enough fajitas to share, plus they shared an order of beef empanadas from the appetizer menu and I had ordered fresh guacamole for the table -which was great. Their other must-have is the margarita! The large is served in what I call a soup bowl! My friend wanted to share the large blueberry which comes timmed with salt or sugar, and my husband drank two regulars. The wait staff was busy with birthdays that night! They march out singing in English and plop a huge sombrero on your head - yes it gets passed around to the next birthday person. Since I'm a grownup, ahem, I was served a large shot of a smooth tequila which slid down in one easy gulp. It was served with lime wedge and nestled in whipped cream! Pretty yummy and Maria said it's her favorite tequila. Sadly, I forgot the name! Because the food comes out on huge, artsy platters, I agree with my friends that we could have been seated at a larger table so we'd have had more room- my friend spilled her wine, which the manager replaced. I'm sure had we asked, they would had moved us. They are very nice there. Once the food was served, we could barely fit it all. and the place was not very busy- most nights, they are! I cook Mexican food at home, but really it can be a lot of work and some nights it's best to have a place we trust when we need that soul food fix from back home. We are so excited that tonight, the newest Anejo opens across the IGP from our community so we will be there to try it. It looks fairly large inside, with a small side yard and a beautiful bar inside. If it's too busy, try Fancy Sushi just a couple of doors down. But make sure you come back again and again. What a horrible experience. We ordered fajitas from the menu and pointed at the item to the waiter. The food arrived 30 minutes later and was not good at all. I am not a complainer so I decided that I wouldn't say anything. I then asked for my bill and when it arrived it was a totally different price then from the menu. The manager came over and said "we get this complaint all the time" because the fajitas fall on the same page as the Lunch Menu square. So apparently the lunch menu fajitas a $16.50. He then turned the menu 2 more pages to show the fajitas again for $23.50. So apparently the dinner prices are buried in the menu to confuse "many" people as he mentioned. What made it worse was that the bill said the fajitas were $23.64. NOT EVEN THE PRICE IN THE MENU! When I said it to the manager, his response was that "it rang up at that price so we have to leave it at that. To make matters worse, I was with friends and because we were a group of 6 they added 20% tip (tip calculated after tax!). So my $16.50 fajitas turned into a $35 dinner that I couldn't eat. The waiter, the manager, the food, the experience , everything was horrible to say the least. I will NEVER return to this establishment. Wow this is good! I thought I was just going to another Mexican chain restaurant in a busy area. I am admitting right now...I can't wait to return! For starters, without us asking, they brought us several baskets of chips and salsa for our party of 8. They brought enough so we didn't need to reach over each other. Both chips and salsa were fresh and eaten in no time so it's safe to say the entire table liked them! I had a Steak Fajita Burrito and did not realize 2 were going to be on the plate. Visited Anejo for a mid week dinner and we were shocked at how bad it was. We sat outside because it was a beautiful evening but we were completely forgotten about. Waitress took our order, delivered our drinks and then we never saw her again until I had to go look for her for our check. They have recently changed their menu to adding items like sour cream, salad and guacamole as a la cart items for certain meals. We had complimentary chips and salsa, the chips were stale. Food- quesadilla and enchilada were middling at best. When our food was brought by a runner, he asked did we need anything else, we asked for sour cream and extra napkins, we never saw them. He didn't even tell our waitress. The only good thing was the house margarita. This used to be a great restaurant when it first opened but the quality and service is very poor now, I will not be going back. read more

Most beautiful restaurant and the design inside is gorgeous and so Mexican and authentic and all the food fresh and delicious and the service is wonderful and freshly made and it tastes like I am at a real Mexican food in Mexico and love the employees they are happy friendly and lovely and hard working and so sweet and the menu is big and lots to choose from and it is so delicious and yummy and best chef ever! We went to Anejo Nocatee last night. It was pretty crowded but not overly crowded, and we were told the kitchen was backed up as soon as we sat down. Fine, we have chips and salsa + drinks to occupy us. We ordered one chicken fajita and one kids grilled cheese. The food did indeed take a very long time despite a very small order. When the food came out, our chicken fajita was lukewarm and not sizzling with steam on the special block that it's usually on. I saw other fajitas being served piping hot sizzling and ours was just a bunch of old dry chicken, not sizzling, and hardly any peppers or onions. It did not look appetizing at all. If you want another indicator of how the night went, look at the kid's grilled cheese in the photo I've attached. Yes I know we are at a Mexican restaurant but a simple grilled cheese should still be doable...toast the bread and melt the cheese. Instead they gave us two un-toasted pieces of wonder bread with an unmelted Kraft single. I felt bad even giving that to my children. And $10 I'm sure just for that pathetic excuse of a meal. Anejo used to be great but this one is going downhill. I will only go back for a margarita but stay away from the food. read more

Checked out the new Anejo in Nocatee on their opening day. I arrived at 5:45 PM and was seated immediately. The aroma when I walked in was fabulous. Less than 3 minutes after being seated I was served chips and salsa. It took a little while for a server to come by but that gave me time to select the California margarita with crushed blueberries, agave necter and lime. The menu indicated it was served with a popsicle but our waitress advised the Riverside location serves it in that manner but not this location. I Politely suggested the popsicle be removed from the menu to avoid confusion;) I did however enjoy this delicious margarita! I started us off with guacamole which was insanely delicious with chunks of onion and tomato. We requested a second basket of fresh warm chips so we could finish all of it lol. For dinner I ordered two tacos, one chicken keto taco with a cheese shell and the chimichurri taco with skirt steak. Both were tasty. The fried cheese was a little too greasy, but still good (messy). And bonus the keto taco came with guacamole (like I needed more lol). The chimichurri taco had a heavy lime influence which I liked. Our server Michelle did a fabulous job on her first day! This place is so cute!!! I love the flower and lights hanging from the ceiling and the beautiful murals on the walls. Meet up with some friends for dinner, they were able to book a reservation for our large party. We were seated right away and the staff brought out our food quickly. The margaritas were delicious! Such a fun, vibrant restaurant with lots of happy patrons! Super busy for a Thursday evening. There was a big birthday celebration going on with lots of merriment and singing. After a short 15-20 minute wait, we were paged and seated. We ordered some drinks from the bar- a regular frozen margarita, beer on tap and a mojito. All were good. We enjoyed snacking on chips and salsa while our food was being prepared. Our meals were all excellent but with such huge portions, we had to take half of them home to enjoy later. The quantity and quality of the food is great. We enjoyed the enchiladas supreme, anejo burrito loco (the biggest burrito I've ever seen!), Hawaiian taco and a fajita burrito.
