Two couples met up for lunch at Valley Smoke in order to catch up as to what was going on in each other's lives. We arrived from two different directions at just about the same time and slowly walked into the restaurant together. We were immediately seated inside (Florida outdoor heat at noon, ugh ...) and ordered cool drinks while perusing the menu. Everyone selected different options along with two appetizers that were shared. The dining room offered a nice view of the intercostal waterway while we were able to talk among ourselves. Our lunch meal orders arrived at a good time, nothing was being rushed as the dining room was completely filled with hungry customers. A variety of sandwiches and an order of brisket tacos were placed before us and were all thoroughly enjoyed! Coffee was ordered to top off our meal and our leisurely lunch began to wind down. Our waiter was attentive, very pleasant and always touched base with us at just the right time! Picked a great day last week to visit Valley Smokehouse on the ICW for lunch. We treated ourselves to a beat salad and a pick-two combo with smoked brisket and St. Louis ribs, plus mac & cheese and yucca fries. We enjoyed a few libations that helped keep things cool on a hot day, and were able to sit under the tent with a great view of the ICW and all the boats passing by. Service was great, the food was delicious, and the scenery was spectacular. One key tip: get there early. By the time we left around 4:30, the place was packed--for all the right reasons. This experience at Valley Smoke deserves a review-- not just because of the meal, but because of what happened afterward. My wife and I recently had dinner at Valley Smoke expecting a great experience given the reputation of the restaurant group behind it. Unfortunately, the evening didn't live up to the hype. Given the reputation this restaurant group promotes, the lack of even a basic response to a respectful customer inquiry was honestly the most surprising part of the entire experience. Restaurants get busy and mistakes happen. Most reasonable customers understand that. What matters is how management handles feedback afterward. So I sent a polite, thoughtful email explaining our experience and giving them an opportunity to respond. I wasn't looking for anything unreasonable -- just acknowledgment that the feedback had been received. That email was sent weeks ago. The response from Valley Smoke and the restaurant group behind it has been... nothing. No reply. No acknowledgment. No follow-up. When a restaurant ignores a respectful attempt to resolve an issue privately, it usually tells you more about the culture of the organization than the original mistake ever could. For a restaurant that positions itself as a premium dining destination, it's surprising to see a customer service strategy that appears to rely entirely on ignoring guests once the check has cleared. Jacksonville has plenty of restaurants that take hospitality seriously. Based on this experience, Valley Smoke doesn't appear to be one of them. If you decide to dine here, just keep one thing in mind: The marketing may emphasize "Southern hospitality," but when it comes to responding to customers, the silence speaks for itself. I originally reached out privately to give management an opportunity to address this before posting publicly, but after receiving no response, I felt it was only fair to share the experience so other diners know what to expect. read more

First time visit and it was a good one was a wait list but found two spots of at the bar and Alan bartender was great. Had the smoked wings and Brunswick stew. Didn't disappoint wings were great. Came for brunch on Father's Day-- arrived around 11:15 and only had a short wait of about 10 minutes without having a reservation. We were seated outside under the tent as inside was for reservations only. It stayed cool enough under the tent and they had fans. Service was fairly quick and our server was friendly and polite. We've been here previously for brunch so 2 of us decided to try something new instead of our usual go-to's. I had the Johnny Cakes and the other two ordered the Valley Smoke Benedict and the Churrasco Steak & Eggs. The flavor combo of bbq pork, goat cheese, bacon, and maple bourbon was really good. I just wish there was more substance to the meat portion of the meal as compared to the Johnny cakes. I think the meat portion would've had a better ratio with 1 Johnny cake or 2 much smaller Johnny cakes. My MIL enjoyed the steak and eggs- good flavor with the chimichurri. My husband is a huge eggs Benedict guy and loved theirs. No complaints on his end. For kids, you have to purchase everything ala carte which is a drawback. I would rather have a few platter options to choose from (ex. Eggs, a meat, and a biscuit or potatoes). It can get pricey when having to pair a bunch of ala carte options for various kids. Finally got to drop in and try VSmoke! ‍ My friend and I stopped in for lunch. We sat out on the back porch, watching the boats go by and enjoying a beautiful day after a long, hard winter. I ordered the turkey sandwich, and let me tell you, it was delicious with the garlic green beans as my side. I am excited thinking about how great it will be trying the rest of the menu soon. I see all the great reviews and see all my friends checking in here often. Service was incredible, so friendly. After living in Texas, I feel like my standard for barbecue has gone up pretty high. But valley smoke is a top contender for Florida bbq. Especially for the price and the serving sizes you get. We got the 'que for two and we were stuffed after, with a bit leftover. To start, I love how they have so many sauces to choose from. And I love even more how the sauces are labeled, even when you get takeout. And they're all so delicious, with my top favorites being sweet n smokey, Alabama white sauce, and datil. I will say I kind of stayed away from Piedmont just because it's more on the sour side. The sides are so good too. We got the German potatoes, which I enjoyed a lot more than I thought I would. We got it as a substitute for the yuca fries since that isn't served at dinner, but it ended up being super flavorful and creamy. The poblano creamed corn was also a fave. The poblano flavor really makes the taste resemble queso. The mac n cheese was good, but it was pretty standard. As for the meats, the brisket was really good and had a decent mix of fatty and lean parts to it. (We did order marbled over lean meat.) Second favorite was the ribs, which despite looking like it would be dry was pretty juicy. Not fall off the bone, but still pretty easy to bite off. The pulled pork was pretty tender, but flavorwise kind of boring, so I didn't care much for it. Only complaint is that we ordered over the phone for takeout, and we had ordered cornbread too but they didn't ring it in, and we didn't catch on until we had already gotten back home. But it ended up working out since we weren't charged for it anyways. And the food we did get was more than enough. read more

Our server, Elizabeth, was exceptional. She was on top of everything, great personality and friendliness, personalized our experience. I had a Bees Knees, husband had a Yuengling. All others had sodas. Meals- Cuban (2)- one with beans and one with fries. Very tasty and tender. Chicken and Waffles- large serving and very good. Tender. Large side of fresh fruit. Shrimp Caesar- 4 shrimp, salad served whole. Side of whipped potatoes with gravy. Biscuits and gravy, side of riced jalapeño grits- different and tasty. Beet salad- side of brisket (fatty cut requested). Yellow and red beets, pears (fresh), pecans. Blue cheese, on spinach with a vinaigrette. Salad was delicious. Brisket sandwich- lean cut requested. Beef Brisket sandwich- lean cut. Only thing I didn't love, and hate to say, was the brisket. It was a bit dry- maybe since we arrived at 1:30? But not the normal tender brisket I crave. Finished off with a large slice of chocolate cake with a candle for a he birthday girl- served all of us- super thick and decadent with whipped cream and chocolate sauce. I chose Valley Smoke as the first restaurant to bring my newborn postpartum. I had family visiting from out of town and wanted to give them a more "southern" experience. I was really nervous about how it would go but it ended up going so well! The service was amazing, they were really accommodating towards the fact that I had my baby in the car seat, and gave me a table in the sun room so I had more space to put the car seat on a chair. The room was also less loud than the main room. The food came out quickly despite it being Saturday night and incredibly busy so baby didn't have to wait long for us to be done with our meal. The food itself was also great, I would say more an elevated barbecue experience. They also provided a wide selection of bbq sauces. We ordered the charcuterie and cornbread to start. I especially liked how the cornbread came with butter that was whipped with salt and honey. It gave the cornbread the extra creamy and sweetness to bring out the flavor. We ordered the 'Que for 4 and could not finish between the 4 of us! I especially liked how tender the beef brisket was. Overall, I would definitely recommend bring friends from out of town to experience a little bit of the local flavor without putting them outside their comfort zone. Always enjoy this place. The atmosphere and food are usually great. This trip, everyone else's meals were great. I tried the flounder a friend got and it was excellent. My filet mignon was downright awful. I've had it at quite a few restaurants as my go-to steak of choice. This one was so tough, grissly and stringy. I've never had a filet mignon like this so i question the cut i was served. I never complain and tried to cut around all the grissle and stringiness. Never had any other complaint, and is still frequent. But perhaps the kitchen/chef need to take a closer look into quality control with cuts of meat. read more

Located off the intercostal waterway, this place is truly breathtaking. If you get a chance, sit outside and enjoy the nature and light boat traffic traveling by. The food is also delicious. We ordered apps to hold us over before a wedding. The pimento cheese dip was soft and the crackers it came with were nice and salty. The chicken liver was soft snd fried just right. The yuca fries were full of flavor and the brisket poutine was hearty. The brisket was soft and went well with the cheese and fries. Overall a great experience and worth the trip and the calories. A happy occasion to celebrate deserves a "happy place." Fortunately, the family celebration of one of our grandson's high school graduation took place at a very happy locale known as Valley Smoke BBQ/Restaurant. It's bright and cheerful inside and out. We had 15+ diners and everyone was very pleased with their meals. Thank you, chefs! Mr. Mason was our waitperson and he had at least one other larger group, too, but we lacked for nothing. So we thank him for that! The food was delicious and pleasantly presented. The decor was calming with a "waterside" motif. There's outside seating and a large canopied area for big bashes--right along the Intercoastal. Be aware that there is only valet parking but it's free (we did tip the valets)--it saves you from marching down the long parking lot!! This is my 3rd time visiting this restaurant. From the minute you walk in the smell of smoky bbq hits you. The drinks ( an old fashion) are very tasty and refreshing. Tonight I enjoyed a combo of two meets. The ribs which fall off the bone and the brisket which was just like I ordered it, lean. The garlic, & bacon green beans were perfectly steamed with a plentiful side of Mac & cheese . The choice of sauces were all a tasty variety. Our waiter Julio was very attentive and friendly. Valley smoke is a fun BBQ place on Roscoe blvd in Ponte Vedra. They are on the intercostal and offer indoor outdoor seating to relax by the view. They have a fun green space outside for the kids to play and even offer a lil putt-putt green. We appreciate that they have complimented valet which makes getting inside with kiddos much easier. Staff is friendly and can answer most of the menu questions without having to go ask, so yay for great training of the staff. The kitchen has an open concept that you walk by to be seated. Food is delicious and they offer like 6 different BBQ sauces. My husband and I can usually share a meal. They have some unique drinks and mocktails too. The food was very solid. I got the two meat combo and decided to try the smoked turkey and the sausage. The sausage was solid. Love the pop of the casing. Succulent and juicy meat on the inside. The turkey was ok. It was tender, but I felt like it could have been a little more moist with a more pronounced smoke flavor. Overall I think it is a solid BBQ restaurant in Florida. I haven't been to VS in years mainly because I had a not so great experience. Well, I am so glad I gave it another try. My husband & I wanted to just sit at a bar, enjoy a HH, have apps, and chat it up. VS has happy hour weekdays with a few decent $5 wine selections. They also have some beer and cocktails for HH. The bar area is quite large & very vibrant. We grabbed two chairs & felt lucky as it gets really crowded at the bar and those seats come at a premium. After reviewing the menu and speaking to the bartender we found out there aren't any special appetizers but we chose the chips and blue cheese dip at only $7. off of the menu. That blue cheese was THE BEST I've had! I was practically licking the plate. The chips were nice and crispy & dipped well. It went nicely with my house Pinot Noir. Instead of ordering another appetizer, we decided to order some mains. I had the turkey which came with two sides. I chose grits and broccoli. My husband had the ribs and he chose mac & cheese and collard greens. My turkey was very good but my grits and broccoli were delicious. My husband really enjoyed his ribs and he said the mac & cheese was out of this world. He said the collards were just OK. We had a really nice relaxing & fun time at the bar. The kitchen is open concept and there's a lot going on. You can watch food being prepped from one side of the bar. The whole place smells smoked in a good way but not Smokey. Outdoors there are tables overlooking the canal and a big tent covering the many picnic tables. I'm so glad we gave Valley Smoke another try. We definitely will return soon. read more

This was our first time here and everything was delicious. The place was very busy when we arrived at 4:45. We had reservations and by the time we left, the line was out the door. We were seated near the bar and it was very noisy. But as people got seated it got much quieter. The cornbread was piping hot and absolutely delicious. I ordered a daquiri and it was like a wonderful key lime drink. They use coconut water and pineapple juice and it was different from a usual daquiri. It definitely hit all the right notes for me. This was a real treat! Nothing that touched my lips wasn't great except the Cole slaw, but I still can't take a star away because of that. It wasn't nasty just not flavorful enough for me. It was still crunchy and chopped perfectly. I don't eat pork or brisket but I heard it was good from the rest of my party. Grilled chicken which I had pulled was great with the 6 different choices of sauces, bread, pickles and onions. The chicken wing rub was phenomenal just wish the wings were smaller and not the ones likely pumped with antibiotics. Great experience with a beautiful view and well stocked bar! We started our evening with a few drinks and the deviled eggs, we couldn't decide on the menu since there were so many wonderful options. Our waitress suggested we both get something different and split our meals with each other which was the perfect recommendation so we could try a little bit of everything on our first visit. We were walked through all the different sauces and explained which each one was which was a huge plus for being a first timer! Our group of 8 met for our monthly 'social' Happy Hour(s) tonight. We could only get a 4pm reservation but some in our group can't make it til after 5. It got totally packed by 6pm but they kindly moved us out to a table in the tent which was fine. Drinks were all great. We came here while we had family in town. It's one of our favorites, and there's too! Luckily I made a reservation online a few weeks prior to them coming into town. Pro Tip: Make a reservation online ahead of time. If you wait until Thursday/Friday to make one for the weekend, chances are you'll be outta luck. We were seated promptly to our table and ordered a few drinks. We ordered their blue cheese chips to start and my kiddo was hangry so he got a hamburger. BTW, if you have kids they don't have a kiddie menu, so be prepared to either order them some sides OR pay full price for an entree. His burger came out quickly and was ginormous. He liked it and ate a majority of it. Our blue cheese chips were delicious. Crispy chips, tangy blue cheese sauce. You walk into this huge bar to your left with an open kitchen to the right. Menu looked great, focusing on bbq but done fancier! It doesn't get any better than enjoyable BBQ on the patio overlooking the Intracoastal waterway. This place is large inside and we were able to get a seat on the patio mid-afternoon on a weekend without a wait. They do have valet only parking here, not totally sure why but be aware and bring a few bucks for a tip. Service was fast and friendly here. The half sweet half unsweet tea was just as you'd expect and want at a BBQ place. The pulled pork and brisket were both excellent here with large portions of tasty smoked meat. They have several BBQ sauces to choose from and I enjoyed them all. I also enjoyed the green beans and collard greens, while the Texas toast was hot and fresh. I was roofing in the beach area and was craving a good brisket. This place popped up in my search and saw the reviews so I stopped by. The place had a fancy farmhouse look to it with a nice bar. They did not disappoint. The brisket was perfectly salted, juicy, and good mix of lean and fat meat. The coleslaw and beans were different but really good along with their BBQ sauces. The view of the river is picturesque. Tonight we had the gator tail app special and the coconut and raspberry cake dessert special.
