Had been wanting to try this newish Fish house, and got the chance to with my baby for Happy Hour! We got there about 4:45 and got a table no problem! Our server was young and sweet, the restaurant is kinda just one big room with a patio out front. We both ordered a drink from the bar and it took them forever to get to us? like 15 minutes to deliver a drink, our apps came out before we got our drink, that was kinda weird. Anyways, we ordered a bunch from the HH menu and loved everything! And to get them at half off, great value! 2 sushi rolls, seaweed salad, blackened grouper bites, edamame....then they a a special where you order an app off the regular menu and can add on 2 snow crab clusters for $15! Went for brunch. Food is good hot fresh and tasty. The hush puppies are yummy love the jam. Th plantain with chorizo side is delish and my bec was tasty croissant was a bit soggy but flavor was good. We went for a late lunch. I ordered the salmon poke bowl and it was outstanding. It was Faroe salmon and could not have been better. My friend ordered the Faroe salmon dinner and said that the salmon was delicious and cooked perfectly. I didn't get a picture of her dish. We were there during Happy Hour. They had a nice menu with some discounts. We ordered off of the regular menu which was quite extensive. Service was good. It is in a strip mall so plenty of parking but not tons of ambiance. You can't get a better overall experience than the boat house. This restaurant is perfection for a casual night out and the staff is top notch! This is my go to for happy hour and seafood craving. Their bang shrimp is the best in town and the deviled eggs with fried oysters on top are excellent. I start with those and sometimes grouper bites then move to a whole fried fish dinner with fried rice and plantain. It never gets old. Love the friendly service and coastal decor too. read more

Surprisingly I had just heard about the Boat House about a week before trying it. It didn't seem to matter that we had a reservation for 2 inside and they ended up seating us at a 6 top. The inside of the restaurant is super cute but a bit loud and casual for the prices, but food was fresh and seasoned well and good size portions. The brussels were our favorite. The crispy calamari with banana peppers was good. The crab cakes were probably the best I've had in Jacksonville. The lobster and cheese ravioli was good but my least favorite of everything. There were a few shells in lobster which weren't fun to chew. The bread pudding was AMAZING and I'd go back just for that. read more

I've been here 3 times. 2 out of 3 were great. The 3rd time sucked and it was the time I took my extended family out to show off the area. Unfortunately, when it sucks, the prices are the same. They do great drinks and sushi. The cooked fish can be spot on or sandpaper dry. Place can get really loud, especially when already drunk patrons from TPC (this was non-tourney time) get seated next you. Service is always great. Prices are on the higher end, and this is why it hurts so bad when a visit misses the mark. If considering give it a shot, it could be the best meal you've had in a while. read more

The sushi offerings were the best part of the meal. I would not come for anything else. This is the second time I went because everything else was booked. The first time the steak was completely raw and they had a tuna steak which was not good. The bang bang shrimp were good but little for the price. Unfortunately everything else was disappointing. The salmon on the taco was mediocre, it had no favor and the lobster in the lobster rolls tasted old instead of fresh. Another issue was the fries. Every order including the truffle fries were cold and it was obvious they weren't freshly made. At this price point I expect hot fresh fries. Other offering in the area do this a lot better (North Beach, Eleven south) The fish sandwich was a letdown. Compared to other local seafood restaurants like North Beach, it doesn't come close. It tasted like a frozen breaded fish fillet served with cold fries. I definitely wouldn't order it again. Maybe old oil? The drinks were good which was a plus. However the bill was about $300 for six people so I expected much better quality and freshness. Overall the experience didn't match the price and I would only come for sushi. read more

Finally made it back to the Boat House after our first experience almost a year ago and unfortunately it just wasn't as good as our first time. We came in for dinner around 6pm on a Monday and had no issue getting a table. Our waitress was attentive and quickly got us drinks and appetizer orders put in. Last time we were here they were out of the Mama Shaw's Conch Fritters and lucky for us they had them this time. They quickly came out and they were pretty good. I was a big fan that the conch in them were not chewy at all which tends to happen with Conch Fritters. They also brought out a number of sauce to go with them! For my entree I ordered the same thing I had just under a year ago, The Just Caught Seafood pick 2 with Blackened Cold Water Scallops and Fried Grouper with Truffle Fries as my side. I ordered the same thing because last time this was an amazing pick. This time the Grouper was just as good but the Cold Water Blackened Scallops were a bit of a let down this time. On my first visit the scallops were very well blackened with so much flavor. There were also 6 of them and each of them were huge. This time the blackening seasoning was for sure lacking, only 5 scallops, and 3 of the 5 were about the size of a quarter. (You should be able to see the difference in the pictures from this review to my first review). I'm not sure if I caught them on an off night and maybe that night being a Monday vs my first time being a Sunday night, or maybe the first night I caught them on an amazing night and they just really out did themselves. Will I guess they only way to figure it out will come back for a 3 time and see how that goes. Again it still enjoy The Boat House a lot but this last time just didn't hold up as well compared to my first. read more

The lobster roll is good but I have had better for cheaper, their scallops are good but again I've had better and their sides are good. Have been here a few times but have never tried the brunch. Came for a girls brunch with a group of 8 of us. The bottomless mimosas and bloody Mary's were well worth the price of $12.99 (1 is $9). We had quite a variety with our group- some brunch items, some apps, and some sushi! The deviled bacon oysters were fantastic- I love bleu cheese, yum!! My favorite sushi roll was the double shrimp tempura. Within our group, others had hamachi chili, the brunch scramble, the poke bowl with yellowtail, and the shrimp & lobster omelette. Our server was great and very attentive to us. We were surprised there were only a couple other tables there for brunch but it started getting busier as we were leaving around 12-12:30. read more

The Boat House had been on my radar for a while but I hadn't made it for dinner when I realized they had a new brunch offering. We went right after they'd opened on a Sunday. We were the second party there and were seated promptly. We ordered the French toast, captain's breakfast, and shrimp and lobster omelette. We got the fried oyster appetizer to start. The brunch menu also had their take on chicken and waffles, eggs benedict with seafood protein options, biscuits and gravy, breakfast burrito, grits with seafood options, avocado toast, and a breakfast scramble. They had a kids brunch menu that also came with crayons and pictures for coloring. The food took a while to come out and when it did, it wasn't correct. We had someone who was lactose intolerant in our party and had requested his appetizer and main dish with no cheese. Both arrived with cheese. They remade the oyster app and he just removed the cream cheese dollop from the omelette. Unfortunately, the omelette suffered from a lack of flavor or seasoning. The captain's breakfast was fine and simple - eggs, potatoes with sausage, chicken tenders, and a biscuit. The sausage gravy that was supposed to come with it never arrived and the bottom of the biscuit was burnt. The French toast was excellent but again, it arrived with whipped cream on top when we requested it on the side. The kids burger looked seasoned and it went over well with our toddler. The brunch was fine overall but nothing to write home about. Service was a bit sparse and the accuracy of the meals wasn't good (sausage gravy never came, cheese was on plates with a specified lactose intolerant guest, whipped cream requested on the side wasn't honored), despite our being one of two parties in the dining room to start. We like this restaurant and that's what made tonight so difficult to sit through because I honestly don't think we will return after the sanitary issues observed. From our seats at the bar, directly beside the sushi station, we watched our sushi roll (raw fish) sit out uncovered for more than seven minutes. The manager was standing over it the whole time, chatting to staff and on her phone. We eventually asked for it ourselves. Barbacks argued loudly in front of us while stacking freshly cleaned glassware. One coughed into his hands and kept going. A dessert went out after a server dragged his arm through the whipped cream. Nobody said a word and it was delivered to the table. At various points we had no bartender, no server, and no silverware as most of the staff was gathered in the bar talking. When we looked for the manager to flag the issues, she was sitting at the bar with a cocktail and scrolling. The food handling completely unsanitary and the restaurant looked unmanaged. read more

My wife and kids went on their own another time and they felt the food was just so-so - they're not interested in coming back, but I think that's more based on the cost of the so-so food than anything else. It can be a bit spendy. They remodeled a little bit from previous occupant, but I found it very loud and challenging to have good conversation (the whole reason my friends and I were there). Service was fine. Not excellent and not below average. Food is typically good, however it's a crap shoot on how much dinner is going to cost because easily half the menu is still "MKT Price", which I get for certain seasonal items, but for a steak?
