This restaurant seems to be more of a bar/ hangout than a restaurant. There are lots of pics online of people having fun at events there. I may try again for one of the events. The table was sticky, so that wasn't great. The portions were very small for plates in the $20 range. The chicken and "dumplings" are made with precooked biscuits. Their fried green tomatoes are soaked in sauce. The sauce was delicious but I didn't expect smothered tomatoes. I added the sauce to my salmon with potatoes and veggies as that dish didn't have any specific flavor other than "grilled." Right now, the place seems to be understaffed. We had a recent dining experience at health kitchen that was out of this world. The service and the timing and the quality of the food and the taste of the food were unbelievable. Bourbon Sugar Biscuits were actually unreal with their strawberry jam + butter the cup of chili was the perfect size and with the toppings of onion/cheese absolute perfection ordered ice water with lemon and it was the best! Server Rajah kept everything fresh and flowing Actually one of the best servers I've had in NOC just a simple side salad but the freshest greens - kids meal, amazing sweet potatoe fries and intense chicken, intensely good I don't know how some restaurants can be so good at what they do, but these guys nailed it! We were enthusiastically greeted at the door and seated. Our waitress quickly took our orders and we sat. And sat and sat. After about 25 minutes she came over and said the food would be out in another 2-3 minutes. 10 minutes later it arrived. It was good. Good portion, well seasoned. Nothing amazing. It would have been nice if she checked up on us. Maybe brought us some water? We saw plenty of staff just wandering around. Not interacting with the customers. Rather disappointing. It was also very loud. There were a few tables watching football that would scream and cheer. The cocktail menu looked great. Over all. It was fine. This is our third visit, and definitely not our last. We came in on a Friday for happy hour, but noticed that the menu had changed from what was listed online. The options were more limited and none quite to our liking, so we opted for items from the regular menu instead. I've had their shrimp and grits before and enjoyed them, so this time I ordered the fish. It was still tasty, but I wish the protein portion was larger. My husband ordered the SKS cheesesteak, which was delicious, but then again, it would've been better with a bit more meat. Additionally, the hoagie bread felt a bit stale when you break it, the pieces don't stick together and it's slightly dry. We also requested that our drinks be served with our food, but unfortunately, they arrived after we had almost finished eating. The 3rd of July will never be the same. We went out and had a quiet dinner for two at Southside Kitchen and spirits which was right down the road from a Yelp event we had a couple of months ago Ambiance amazing. Service barnone. The food was not a perfect 10. We waited a few minutes to be served by our waitress but the place was little busy. The waitress was bubbly and took our order right away. She also informed us about the events at South Kitchen. Bring on those drinks! Wifey had a prosecco and I had a Miller light. Next the piece de resistance or so I thought came. We started with the bourbon biscuits without plates. Wifey enjoyed them. They were not soft, flaky and buttery to me. Next were the meals, I had the salmon slicers packed with stuff, lettuce, tomato and a sauce. They just taste like salmon. No kick or punch at all. The truffle fries were the worst that I've had. They were worst than regular fries. I complained about the fries and 10 minutes later I was given regular fries. To add to the injury of bad truffles, I was charged for the truffle fries. It was only a $1 extra but still. No desserts but food was questionable. The wings were fine but I wish my food was perfect. The meal was reasonable priced. Would I come back? I've been coming here with my wife for years at this point. For a time I'd say we were coming three times a month. The food was great, the service was awesome and the prices were solid. We'd have a really nice time, I'd get some loyalty points and it kept us coming back. But now the quality has just gone down so much. First it was getting rid of Heinz ketchup. My wife likes ketchup for her fries and the new stuff they have is GROSS. For a while she was bringing ketchup packets in her purse. Then they took the pork tostadas off the menu. Our favorite appetizer was gone but then we went to the chicken legs. Now the last couple of times the burgers, which were always the highlight of our meal have gone downhill too. I like a rare burger, and they used to KILL it. Perfectly cooked each time. So juicy and well seasoned. Now they are overcooked and not as good. They have gone with more traditional (boring) appetizers and have spinach dip and fried mozzarella sticks on the menu now and the happy hour menu has gotten less extensive and value focused too. Our favorite cocktail, the Cherry Limeade isn't on the happy hour menu either. What used to be a fun, enjoyable place for lunch or dinner has now become just mediocre place with dwindling standards. read more

Good food and excellent service! It was slower on a Sunday evening which was nice. Our server was very attentive. We both got the chicken and waffles which are so much better than they used to be. They have switched the chicken from tenders and it is so tender now. Only complaint was they were out of sweet tea at 6:30. read more

I came with a group of six on a Saturday night at 5:30. The place was not too busy at all. Our server came over quickly and got our drink orders. We had to wait a little bit for her to return with our drinks and to take our order before happy hour ended at 6:00. Our food took a rather long time to come out but we did not say anything, it happens. The manager came over and explained that our ticket got pushed behind a big party and he will be comping part of our bill for the inconvenience. That was very nice of him. Our server apologized profusely as well. The salads were pretty good as well as the parmesan truffle fries. Overall inwas not impressed with the entire experience. Our server was sabrina and she definitely wasnt bad but she also wasnt good. Food took a while considering how slow they were. But that has nothing tondo with her. Ambiance was cool . My wife's chicken sandwich had a rough piece of fat in it that instantly turned her off. My cajun pasta was good. Went on a Wed night and it was a moderate crowd. The service was quick and prompt getting our drink orders just as soon as we were seated . I ordered the Cajun pasta and my wife ordered the red white and blue burger. Both items came out fairly quickly and perfectly done. The pasta was tasty plentiful, and the right amount of space to go with the chicken and sausage and mushroom cream sauce, which was delicious.. My wife's burger was also good and the fries were hot and crisp. They even had live music going on in the bar area and it was a good balance between hearing the music, but not too loud so we could still hold a regular conversation without yelling . Overall, it was a great experience and one of the better restaurants here in the Nocatee town center based on what we've tried so far. First timer at South Kitchens! So, I kept watching the plates that were being delivered to other tables. My main observation was.....wow the size of the servings is HUGE! Service was great and it was truly nice that everyone working there was pleasant! They were moving and hustling fast as if they cared about the customers! I want to comment on the Bourbon Sugar Biscuits that we ordered as an appetizer! They are worth every calorie that is packed in them! Trust me - just order them! We went to this place 3 times so far. We definitely will come back. Once was for dinner time and everything we got was sooo good. 2nd time was for brunch and sadly we were not impressed. From the waffle to the gravy... it just wasn't good. 3rd was during happy hour and my favorite was the pulled pork grilled cheese! Service was nice each time. 3rd time they were super busy. But the first time we came it wasn't and they spent time talking to us about the menu, etc. they have booth and bar sitting. Clean, modern and homey type area. Definitely recommend. read more

Some food came out like warm, and they forgot to bring out the sweet potato fries, we asked and when they did they were overcooked probably from sitting under the heat lamp. Took wife for quick nosh. Entire time manager sitting at counter beside us with no greeting. Got tab and noticed that: 1. They figure tip on gross (after tax) amount. 2. They pad the tips. Ours should have been $7.02 at 20%. It was $7.89 Mentioned to wife and could tell manager heard but made no effort to correct or apologize.
