The shop is cute, has a couple of seats but this really is a "take and eat on the way to your gate" kind of thing. The man behind the counter was very friendly! Made great conversation and was polite! Excellent service! We got one chocolate chip cookie and a samoa doughnut. The food: The cookie was good but not exceptional. It's also SO SMALL! Not worth the money! The samoa doughnut was the worst doughnut we have ever had... absolutely no flavor. I don't know what needs to change but that was not a good doughnut. Angel Food Bakery at MSP was a total letdown. I grabbed two chocolate chip cookies (thanks to the "award winning" hype) and a donut. The donut tasted at least a day old. It was dry, crusty, and definitely not worth the $5+ price tag. The cookies were small and nothing special. Overall, this place feels overpriced and overhyped. The employees were not welcoming. This shop is located on the E concourse of terminal 1. I stopped by at 5:30am and there was no line at all. The workers were pleasant. I ordered a cherry almond scone, and they asked if I wanted it warm. I said yes. As I ate it, I found that the middle was still cold, though; even more, there was a profound lack of cherries and almonds. I also got a chocolate chip cookie, which the sign said was top rated by the Star Tribune. The cookie was thoroughly excellent, very sweet, with discs of high quality chocolate. I stopped at Angel Food Bakery to grab breakfast on my way to catch an early flight. This was my first time at MSP, so I wasn't sure what my food options were and I had passed up a few more crowded spots. I was happy to see a bright, inviting breakfast spot! This is very much a bakery. They had beautiful (and delicious) donuts, cupcakes, scones, juices and 2 breakfast sandwiches. I had the egg and cheese with sausage on a biscuit because it was the only thing on the menu offering a little protein to start the day. It was a nice texture and had good flavor, but was very greasy. The biscuit felt homemade, but not fresh. My impression was that it had been reheated so parts of it were a little hard and burned while others were soft and buttery. They have a very limited coffee selection, so if you need your flat white, or can't start your day without your latte know that you can't get any of that here. The staff was doing well at 430 am with a long line. They were patient and efficient keeping things moving. Moral of this story is that I would absolutely come back for a donut or baked good, but would likely look somewhere else for an actual breakfast and coffee. read more

Picked up a Maple Chocolate yeast donut as well as what was allegedly the best chocolate chip cookie in the Twin Cities. Not thrilled with either, or the cost of $7.10 for both. The blueberry pie was soft and delicious, the crumb on top added a nice touch. I don't usually like blueberry was this was great. I also don't usually go for Crullers but i decided to give one a try and it was a great decision, the best Cruller I ever had. It was tasty and tended. Coming off hungry and tired at MSP Airport and terminal E, I perked up at the sight of Angel Foods Bakery. The donuts and other products are eye catching! The first time I came, I got a young guy. I asked what was the best seller and he told me the two most expensive donuts listed. The French Crueller and the Croissant dough-naparts are $5.12 and $6.22 respectively. I opted for the salted caramel. I didn't taste the caramel, only sugar and the salt at certain bites overpowered the donut. I took some bites where it felt like a mouthful of salt. The good thing about the salt in other bites of the donut, was it balanced the sugar! The yeast raised donut was fluffy and fresh. I didn't like the credit charge machine where tips came up and there wasn't a no tip option. I only learned on my second and last trip here that you can hit the red button to cancel tip. The second trip brought me back to want to try the French Crueller but it wasn't meant to be! It wasn't made that day, so much for fan favorite! Instead I opted for the chocolate chip cookie that received rave reviews and a signage with kudos outside the store. I didn't taste the big flavors but chocolate was fine at $2.75 but lacking , it wasn't a big cookie, small in size and soft. I couldn't tell it was made with brown butter. Visited Angel Food Bakery on accident while traveling at the airport. I hadn't intended on buying anything for breakfast but their donuts CALLED to me so I went inside to grab one. I'm a simple woman so vanilla donuts with sprinkles are my favorite so that's what I grabbed. The cashier was super helpful and got it all packaged for me. Hidden gem within Gate E! My frosted cake donut was incredible! I don't like donuts much but wow. So soft and the perfect amount of sweet. Read mixed reviews. The ambience is a 5 stars but the donuts are not good. I asked for the recommendations and the donut egg sandwich was weird. The donut was dense- not fluffy. Every time I fly out of MSP in the morning, I have looked forward to a cup of coffee and scrumptious donut. Today, I come in and music is blaring--you can hear when walking down the aisle. It was a bit overwhelming. ( I can still hear it 2 gates away!) Folks just hanging out and not much appreciation for folks wanting to come in this morning. Some just turned around and went elsewhere. Beautiful little bakery in Terminal 1 of Msp airport in concourse E. Our flight got delayed so decided to get a sweet treat as a pick me up and got the carrot cake scone. So delicious! Really great crust and perfect balance between crunchy and chewy with chunks of real fruit and carrots which doesn't sound appetizing.. but was quite tasty! The staff is super upbeat and friendly which helps as I'm sure airport travelers may not be the kindest. Had a pretty long layover at the airport and my husband and I were feeling like we wanted a bit of something sweet so we ran over to Angel Food Bakery during out downtime. It was end of day so they didn't have a huge selection but we did each get a few tasty donuts. As exciting as crazy toppings can be I have to admit that I'm a bit of a donut minimalist, so I just got a plain glazed yeast donut and a cruller and both were great. The glazed yeast was light and sweet, and melt in your mouth, just as I like them. It was pretty large so I took the cruller home and enjoyed it with a cup of coffee for breakfast the next morning and it held up perfectly over night. Service was brusque and less than friendly, but that's par for the course at most airport establishments, so it's to be expected. read more

Nothing like getting donuts at 5 in the morning when at the airport! There was a nice selection of donuts being offered, even as early as it was. There was also a very tasty looking Raspberry Chocolae scone that we almost settled on instead but I decided to grab a Maple Bacon and Samoa (Coconut Chocolate) donut to take with us on our flight. $3 a donut isn't bad considering that Dunkin or any other chain is trying to squeeze at least a $1.5 out of you. The donuts were very good, I liked that it was more thick and chewy than regular raised donuts that I am accustomed to, a nice mix between a raised donut and a cake donut. Both of the toppings and flavors were great. Maple Bacon is a common morning staple and tasted like a handheld breakfast. My last business trip to Minnesota, and I stopped by Angel Food Bakery and Donut Bar in hopes of getting a Bavarian cream donut. Alas, they did not have any. :( But I spied a thick loaf of something dense and smothered in frosting that caught my eye. "What is that?" I asked. "Bread pudding", the cashier answered. Ok, I'll have a slice of that then. Never mind that I was still stuffed from just eating a large Greek salad with chicken and downing an apple cider from Red Cow across the way. Never mind that this thing cost $2.95... kind of pricey, but I got cut a pretty thick and generous slice. I devoured the heavenly goodness while standing up at the cellphone charging counter at the gate. Mostly because there was a flat surface to eat on instead of trying to balance this monstrosity on my lap. In fact, I'm still shoveling bite after bite into my mouth as I write this review, despite my belly being stuffed to the brim. It's not too sweet, is very moist, has a pleasant cinnamon flavor, and the thick buttercream frosting with what appeared to be a ribbon of praline on top is a nice touch for a pop of a sugar rush in between bites of the thick, almost fudgy-textured Center. Soooo good!!! No regrets at all. Hope the belly doesn't burst. The bellyache has commenced. But it was all so worth it. I'll diet tomorrow. (Maybe.) read more

My flight was delayed a few hours, so I found myself walking around concourse E for a snack to keep my going. This bakery caught my eye because it's very cute! They have cute lights and glass displays for their baked goods. I would say this store mainly sells donuts and the donuts are actually pretty pricy. All donuts without holes are $3, without holes $3.50, and $2.50 for the cake donuts. $3 was pretty steep for a donut but noticed the maple bacon donut wasn't priced more than the other glazed/sugar cover donuts with holes, so I reasoned with myself that a donut WITH bacon for $3 wasn't a bad deal The donut was surprisingly good. The donut itself wasn't too greasy and the bacon was very crispy. The maple glaze wasn't as smooth as I would like but there was some good maple flavor. The texture of the donut was more dense and not as airy as I'd like. Is it better than a classic donut at Dunkin Donuts? No, but it's still good. read more

1st off - the donuts are great. The stars have nothing to do with the taste and quality of the food. The service on my particular visit was awful. Their hours are posted of opening at 4am. There was maybe 8-10 employees working behind the closed gate that could clearly see a growing line at 4am. Not a single employee acknowledged the line, said one single word about how they were running late, or any time that they would actually open. Finally at 4:20am a worker came out of the gate and closed it again. I asked when they were going to open. His response was "I don't know 5,10,15 minutes" I get it's an airport location and employees there don't tend to care. read more
