This store is a hidden gem full of beautiful jewelry, spiritual resources, and a rather large collection of Tarot, Angel, and Oracle decks. It's the most that I've seen in one place. There's an extensive variety of themes and art styles, even ones for suitable for young folk. The owner, Valencia is straight out of a fairy forest, I swear she is a magical creature. Pro tip for finding this place: Google maps may take you right past the shop because it's on a part of Martin Luther King Jr. Way that is hidden behind the main road. If you get lost, use your map app to see where you are in relationship to the store, and find your way there manually. I love Valencia and have been coming to her store for many years! I used to pass by her shop daily on the way to work and would stop by at least biweekly to wander around the store. Angel Light Bookstore is very serene and divinely protected. My vibrations are always high when I step foot into the store. Valencia is always welcoming and will answer any questions I may have. Throughout the years, Valencia has empowered me to protect myself spiritually. She's also taught me many valuable lessons on vibrations and energies which I am forever grateful for! For a long time this was my favorite, go to store. I liked their selection, the classes (that I taught and took) and the use of the space for Reiki clients. But, being angelic, that means that there were some shady characters roaming around and stealing clients and other such going ons. Also, the store is quite dusty. And it's frustrating giving a reading or working with a client and having her boyfriend using a chainsaw/tablesaw outside and cursing as he worked. It's a fun, wonderful place that became less fun and less wonderful as time went on. It was also hard to stomach the shady folks who smile and grin and come across as wonderful people and who behave like the current WH occupant behind closed doors. And Valencia knows this. But being angelic doesn't mean that you have to put blinders on when people are hateful. Afterwards, the dustiness of the place really began to bother me and became a reason for me to stop coming by. A large, airy good feeling store filled with metaphysical, new age and self help books, incense, candles, healing stones, crystals, tarot cards, gifts. There is a small room off of the main store for free cookies and tea and an outside patio. Very nice and relaxing. The owner is very welcoming and knowledgeable, we didn't know our astrological moon sign(feminine), only our sun sign, so she asked our birth dates and told us a little about our signs and those of our boyfriends and compatibility. That was so awesome. I could have listened to her for hours on this stuff but she had other customers to help...ah well, will have to go back. She is thinking of adding classes and massage, that would be cool. It is a surprising on the location, at the end of the MLK, in the residential area but parking was a breeze because of it. read more

I was just aimlessly driving around Berkeley trying to find a new way to get over the East Bay Hills when I stumbled on this place, which is tucked away on MLK Jr on the edge of Berkeley/North Oakland. Talking to the owner, I realized I had been to her previous shop down in Redwood City decades ago on El Camino. Both are/were metaphysical bookstores with an assortment of crystals, charms, books, dream catchers, incenses and other little finds geared to those who are open to all things metaphysical, Western or Eastern. They have a great collection of Tarot card decks, too. It reminds me of East West Bookstore when it was in a little house in Menlo Park (decades ago), instead of the more commercial iteration of it on Castro street in Mountain View. Or a nice place that used to exist in the mouth of the Carmel Valley, now extinct. It is very relaxed and comfortable, with a gentle, slow energy about it. They have space where they do regular mini-fairs of psychic readings and other similar events in the back room, usually monthly on the weekends. I think at these little mini-fairs you can get a little mini-reading of 15 minutes for $20 from a handful of vendors who work out of here. The owner, Valencia, specializes in crystals and teaches Feng Shui classes, too, in addition to running the store 7 days a week. I got a couple of little items for myself, and had a great talk with Valencia and another regular patron, and the 2 gentle dogs that reside here, too. We had a great talk about the Mah Jhong (Valencia is ABC) and related topics. The prices are very reasonable. I spent about $30 and afterwards the owner put a basket of raw gemstones in front of me and said I could pick one out for free and she would interpret it for me. I closed my eyes and pulled out Azurite, a blue-greenish speckled stone somewhat like a Robin's egg. This was focused on the 6th Chakra, which represents the Third Eye, and is good for Psychic energy and clairvoyance. Was that luck, chance, coincidence or serendipity? Don't be surprised to find me in the back room some future weekend getting a reading, or maybe giving one. read more

What a unexpected gem! Yes the location is a bit random, but as with most things the true treasures lie within. I came here looking for crystals for wire wrap jewelry, some good metaphysical refrence books on crystals as well as herbs, and possibly a new tarot deck. I found all but the tarot deck. They do have a large selection of tarot decks... I just didn't happen to find one that suited my fancy. The owner is a very mellow, knowledgable and helpful woman. This shop reflects the breadth of her metaphysical/life knowledge! Angel Light carries books on just about every metaphysical subject; Angels, Herbs, Divination Systems, Feng Shui, Crystals, Meditation, Cooking, Wicca, the list goes on. There is a special focus on angels with everything from figurines to angel card decks and posters available. The crystal selection was small but nice. I think I'm definitly going to have to find a good rock shop for my needs however. When I was ringing up my purchases the owner pulled out a basket of crystals and had me pull one out. I pulled Rhodonite which she explained signified a comming unblockage of obstacles in my love life, and the healing of old wounds with harmony emerging...We'll see! :) I will have to come back another time as when I got here the shop was about to close. Wow! I loved my visit to this angelic store. The owner (who was working there that day) was sooooooooo nice, cordial, and helpful. The shop as a whole is large, well organized, and awesome. They have a WIDE variety of any and every thing metaphysical/occult your little heart could possibly desire! Lots of astrology items (books as well as gift items) which made me happy. WHAT OTHER STORE goes out of the way to have a R&R room (Angel Tea Room) for you to help yourself to some hot tea and soothing music? Wow. The only complaint: It was really hot inside the store on the day I went (they should open the windows). It's off the beaten path so it BETTER NOT CLOSE DOWN! I just discovered this place and I can't seem to stay away. I have spent years ordering my stuff online, and I am so happy I can come here and find most everything I want. They have a wonderful selection of metaphysical and spiritual books, and the crystal/stones array is amazing. The owner Valencia turned out to be very sweet, helpful and very knowledgeable. I was driving down MLK and got stuck at the light, and I was sitting there in traffic, and glanced over to my right and there was this place that said they sold crystals. I'd being trying to find a crystal store in Berkeley for the past couple weeks, which is ridiculous because you would think Berkeley would be crystal central, what with the now getting-grandfatherly tradition of hippydom and the Lawrence labs, and UC campus. You know, they dig crystals too for scientific reasons. Not that the reasons I dig crystals aren't kind of scientific. They just make me feel really funny and give me weird dreams, which for me is tested and proven. So I pulled around, did an illegal turn up a one way artery (cause I had already passed the legal artery) and went in. It smelled nice, there was a nice Chinese woman there (I think. I'm Chinese too.) with curly hair and an interest in all things kind of mystical. If you were skeptical, you could say it walked the line of crackpot, but I, being of sound mind and body, but also born and raised in B-Town, totally dug it, the crystal selection, the book section and just the general vibe of the store. I didn't see the puppy figurines, but they had a couple real puppies there that were cute lookin kind of things. I wouldn't say this place was as scatterbrained as the last review said, it all seemed pretty related to me. I had a good time and left with a citrine/smokey quartz mixture that I'd been trying to find online for a while. It's not the kind of thing you would expect to be there (meaning, it's a store, and there isn't much else around), but then it's also the kind of thing that is like "of course, there's a random empty metaphysical store that just appeared from thin air to give me this power crystal" kind of thing. read more

I also like things that are shiny like crystals and gems and birthday cards with sparkly unicorns on them. Ok, I like kitsch! I guess you shouldn't come here if you lack a sense of humor. The owner is also really nice. Maybe I'd be uncomfortable in a place like this if my mom didn't drag me around to countless New Agey bookstores as a child. I used to hate her for it. Now I can't help but enjoy the feng shui mirrors, rosaries in various media and tye-dye shirts with spirit wolves on them. It's got a pretty wide variety, and it doesn't push any particular sect or cult on you. If you're in the area, why not stop by. It wouldn't kill you, you know. My favorite metaphysical shop in the Bay Area. The moment you walk in it feels like a good place to be. Their prices are incredibly fair, the staff is knowledgeable (I suspect that's because it's usually the owner working), and unlike many botanicas she never intrudes or assumes (frequent visitors to similar shops know what I mean). The books they stock are well chosen as are the decks they carry. If you need some guidance on subject matter, I do think Fields Books is still the best. Even though the store is closed you can still call and speak with the owner, David, and order from them online. And if you are looking for botanica candles I recommend Phoenix in Oakland. But novices and pros alike will appreciate this hidden gem. read more

I think this is an interesting shop in an interesting, if not unexpected, location. One day I look up and I see a big red wine-colored banner with white lettering that reads "Angel Light Books". I found the owner (I don't recall her name) to be friendly, open, and not at all pushy. I would say this store is part bookstore, part gift-shop and it caters to both Christians as well as a New Age crowd. I happen to think that it's a smart business move on the owner's part, as in this area of Oakland there are a number of Christian churches close by and so it's probably best to include that group rather than totally alienate it with just New Age-type books and crystals only. This bookstore also features "alternative" (I hate that label) health books, and I think they even carry VHS tapes. Prices are standard, and if nothing else, the parking is easier here than at Lewin's Metaphysical Bookstore, even though that bookstore has a larger book selection. read more

This is my favorite go-to crystal and spiritual store in the East Bay. Great for finding crystals/stones, books, jewelry, incense, oracle/tarot cards, gifts, chakra tools, candles, and so much more. I love the people who work here, they are so helpful and knowledgable. The place has a wonderful energy to it, and I spend hours perusing the items. I frequently bring friends here and have bought many gifts for people in my life at this store! I have attended 3 classes here and absolutely loved each one: Chakra Awareness, Stones Awareness, and Crystal Awareness. In each of these 2 hour sessions ($35 each - well worth the price) I learned so much and walked away with so much knowledge that I refer back to everyday. I'm a beginner at this work and the classes are great for newcomers and more seasoned folks alike. Since I took all 3 classes, I took a short quiz and received a certificate of metaphysics. This is a sad little shop in a very sad location. I walk by it everyday on the way to BART and I have never seen a single customer in there, just the proprietor, aimlessly wandering the aisles, looking busy to her imaginary boss. This is the only business in the entire area, and one would have to stumble upon it, or simply pass it on the way to somewhere else to find it. I think what she is lacking is a focus. The inventory of the store is totally schizo. I have peered in the window many times, and found myself wondering about the person who would shop in here. There are not enough words to describe how grateful I am to have met owner of this shop, Valencia. My life has truly transformed since I started coming to this shop on a regular basis. I have brought many friends here who all have the same feeling of joy and a deep sense of enlightenment upon receiving guidance from Valencia. Since September 2017 I have gotten bi monthly tarot card readings, my full astrological chart analyzed, and attended classes at the shop - full disclosure, I was not a true believer or well knowledgable about metaphysics before meeting with Valencia. Moreover, suffice to say, I was unhappy with the current state of my life and on a slippery slope when I first met Valencia. The staff here are knowledgable and friendly, the atmosphere is light and the music is heavenly. Your friendly neighborhood metaphysical bookstore. I've been to this place a few times, mostly to attend some of their classes (there's always one or two going on at any given weekend). I always end up lingering to peruse through the extensive collection of crystals and books on different spiritual traditions. I'll remember to hide my credit card next time I visit as I haven't been able to walk out yet without first making a purchase or two. Ok, I'm kidding - I don't' give giving Valencia (the owner) my business - she's very warm and friendly and makes me just want to hang out at her bookstore before and after class. About the classes themselves - I've been to Valencia's "introduction to crystals" one and another class on "manifesting and miracles". Both are very reasonably priced and content-wise I felt like I've gotten something positive from attending. Classes are held in her "Angel Tea Room" space which is nice and cozy, and classes have always been small enough that the experience feels personal.
