So gentle. So sweet. Helpful, explanatory, and great view of the sky from the chair.

The hygienist told me things would be covered, that simply were not. Come to find out the dentistry is not in my network. I now have a bill of $400 for a teeth cleaning and x-rays. No adjustments from them - no negotiations, but they do offer a payment plan. :) 2. They offer a free whitening for new patients. Essentially they put three rounds of gel whitener on your teeth in an hour and half long appointment. It's a stronger strength than what you would get for home but it is not a true whitening treatment. My teeth are no whiter than they were before. VERY disappointing. 3. The building wasn't in good condition and very out dated. The elevator got stuck upon my first arrival. The room I was in for the cleaning had black dust on the AC vent that you look at when laid back in the chair. The ceiling tiles are old and dingy. The floors were dirty as well as the baseboards near the floor. The only reason I went back to the office was for the free cleaning (at that point I hadn't seen the $400 bill). 4. I needed a little bonding on my front tooth, very small area. The pricing was expensive (the dentist I had been going to for 30 years would do it at no costs to build and keep relationships). I ended up asking to just had a small area sanded so we didn't have to keep worrying about the bonding. First thing from the dentist, "that will cost you". No other questions, no other options offered. That was her only comment. 5. It seemed that everyone was trying to sell something. I've already booked my 6 months cleaning at my old dentist. They are wonderful and the ONLY reason I went to a new dentistry was to be closer to home.

So let's all just be real with ourselves, no one likes the dentist. I have found a few over the…read moreyears that I've liked aspects of my visit but not the whole visit. HOWEVER, I will say that this is the first time from start to finish. I changed dentist due to my work and location so this past winter I was looking for a new dentist. I asked a co worker of mine and she recommended this dentist. I did my own research and decided to give it a whirl. The front office staff was great. And my hygienist was knowledgable, talked me through everything and even made a note in my chart about preferences much appreciated. Additionally, they do provide fluoride for their adult patients. This is crucial and I've been getting this ever since I've gone to the dentist. Meeting the dentist was great, she was personable and shared her advice with me about my concerns. She did not force me into any decisions and said it was my choice but she would air on the side of conservative treatment. Overall, it was a great experience and honestly I am not dreading my next appointment.

Let's start with my obsession with my teeth. I'm a patient that never gets told to "floss more." I have an illnesses which causes me to vomit frequently, sometimes with no warning. I had an episode while in the Martin Dentistry office some time ago. It's not as though they didn't know or hadn't seen it. However, after being late to an appointment which was rescheduled I was ridiculed. Call me silly but I didn't want to uncontrollably vomit all over the dentist or hygienist. Frankly, it's a health risk. I could've easily choked on my vomit during treatment. You can be the best dentist but with an unprofessional, patient facing staff you will eventually lose business. Side note, somehow the office suppressed my Google review. Now I consider them unreliable.

My insurance in 2025 included dental work as long as you used a "network" dentist…read more I tried to interview a number of dentists and decided on this practice. Let me tell you, if you are scared of Halloween stories you may not want to continue this post. Everyone was really nice; they always gave us some cute dentist object to take home. My initial review probably indicates this. Now for the saga. We were always asked to pay before our departure. Without seeing insurance assurance or really know what amount we were accountable for. Ok, I am still trusting and paying. The office did not appear to be really clean and that bothered me, so I mentioned fingerprints on the lamp and how they were handling tools to be placed in my mouth. They assured me they were clean, and they used some disinfected, that made things not sparkle. (I will skip ahead and tell you my new dentist was cleaning the whole time I was there) Now for the "getter of the story". The dentist said that I was needing a new crown for my back tooth. I never had problems with it, but she insisted that I was sure to need in the future. I asked the cost, and she told me my insurance would cover, $1650. I didn't think so but both she and the office member had agreed that the insurance had preapproved the service. OK, well there was pressure and like a dumb (you can fill out in the word) I went ahead. I called UHC the minute I got home. No preapproval, not enough benefits and she forwarded me to the website to verify But wait there is more. She was right I did not have benefits so I was told the Dr could hold me accountable. (seeing smoke yet?) In addition, there were numerous payments for both my husband and me that we had paid, and the insurance had also paid. (Are you thinking what I am thinking?) While I am going through all of this, I find they are replacing a tooth of his and looking at his Tonge for cancer. (usually free but at this office $50 charge not covered by insurance) Care is questionable. I never felt comfortable or felt that I am receiving caring service. Often times I didn't even know the tech's name. I go to the end the office manager would no longer speak with me because she said I was going to put her in jail??? I called UHC and reported fraud, at this point there is no mention of refund. I contacted my credit card company reported fraud and then forwarded a certified letter, to the Dentist personally. Finally, I got our $1000+ back and found a new dentist, Dr Brown on Shadeland. If you would like to see my review there, I will be posting soon.
