I went to Angelina per a recommendation from my coworker. My boyfriend and I arrived at Angelina around 2:30pm on a Saturday afternoon, and we found a packed restaurant with long queues. I stood in one of the lines but was advised that it was the one for the tea room. I was guided to another line across the way for the to-go orders. Heads up, know which line you're entering so that you don't waste your time in the wrong one. The wait to the front was quite long. It took an hour from the time I entered the line to the front of the line. Customer service was totally fine. Friendly servers, and each one was willing to help and ensure I was taken cared of. Of course, I came to Angelina for their famous hot chocolate... and all I got to say is that the hype is real. It was the best sipping hot chocolate I've ever had. The chocolate was thick, rich in flavor, and not overly sweet. I did pick up a few pastry items, including the Mont-Blanc, Rocher, Cheesecake Marron, and a 4th one whose name I forgot because it was honestly forgettable. I was told that the Mont-Blanc was created at Angelina. I can't say that I've ever had anything like it before. The dessert looks like a muffin, but when you pierce through the stringy chocolate "muffin top" you'll find a sweet cream. The Rocher was very good. Exactly what you expect if you've had a Ferrer Rocher before. My absolute favorite dessert was the cheesecake marron, and I would go as far as saying that it's the best dessert I've had so far on my trip. It's so good that I actually finished it in one sitting, which is something I couldn't say for any of the previous desserts I've had. read more

Probably 3.5 from me - it's one of the nicer spots for a bite in the Louvre. This location is a bit tucked away and quite small so plan on a wait, or get there when it opens. Tip for those uninterested in wasting time in line: They have a cart outside the cafe where you can purchase a cup of hot chocolate to go! This review is for takeaway only because I didn't feel like waiting in the cold to be cramped inside. This cafe is SUPER BUSY all the time no matter what time of the day it is there's a line outside. I ordered the hot chocolate and it did not disappoint. Walking in the cold, into the jardin du Tuileries with my hot cocoa and sipping it was truly a great experience, one that is quintessential to being in Paris, in the 9th arondissment. The food was served cold -- my eggs were cold, and when I asked about it, they took my dish to reheat it and brought it back, but it was still cold and lacked flavor. We visited Angelina twice during our visit to Paris - once at the location by the Lourve and another time at Versailles - and we enjoyed both times. I saw this spot recommended by a lot of folks during my trip planning, but I didn't realize just how popular it was until we visited the location by the Louvre and waited for over an hour in line before being seated. They are known for their hot chocolate and sweets, which is honestly all they serve most of the times of day. The hot chocolate was VERY good - it was quite hot and had a great mouth feel being thick but smooth. It also wasn't too sweet; it seemed semi-sweet which made it easier to drink the whole pitcher lol. We liked our pastries at Versailles best - cheese cake and roche praline. They were both fantastic and we finished both. At the Louvre location we got the famous mont blanc, a chocolate eclair, and another traditional dessert that had layers of flaky pastry and creme. All three of these were decent, but not quite our favorites and we didn't finish them. I think trying the Mont Blanc is a right of passage when visiting Paris, so I'd recommend giving it a try for the experience mostly! read more

My first visit here was 25 years ago and again 23 years ago and most recently in 2022. I have to say that I love this place and I love how the menu has evolved and really expanded while still maintaining all of the classic and traditional food and drink items. Of course, there was a line and the place is full of tourists but also good to see some actual local French people here. By far this is the best hot chocolate in town and also the sweetest hot chocolate in town. Pricing is on the higher end especially when you consider its location and it's iconic reputable brand name. However, it is still decent fair pricing, considering overall Paris is quite expensive. This is a must out for me every time I visit the city. read more

No water was offered and would not let us split the hot chocolate order (which we did last time) while servers tables around us were allowed to split the pot. She did not check on us once while there basically ignored. We had to ask get attention of another waiter for bill. I also remember receiving little chocolates with hot chocolate order as well in the past. Very disappointed taking our son there for this experience. There is another line to visit the boutique where you can take out the desserts and drinks to go. We came here with the intention of trying the world's best hot chocolate. Maybe my expectations were too high. I had the iced chocolate which I found was very thick and hard to drink because of how rich it was. It essentially tasted like a melted chocolate bar that was cooled down. Could only manage to drink half of it! My afternoon tea partner had the hot chocolate which came deconstructed for you to pour and add the whipped cream on top. I wish I opted for this instead. The star of the show was the Mont Blanc. The chestnut cream wasn't too sweet and it was a very delicate yummy dessert. The interior of this cafe is very chic. Great for photos. We went on a Sunday afternoon and were lucky that we only had to lineup for about 15mins for a table. We got the brunch experience which came with hot chocolate, pastries, a choice of a brunch dish, and choice of dessert dish. The hot chocolate was incredible and the richness was unlike anything we have tasted! However, the butter croissants were very average at best and the brunch dishes (we got the french toast and eggs benedict) were subpar. We also paid extra 10 Euro for the famous Mont Blanc which not only did the presentation look very sloppy, but we found out it's only 8 Euro if you buy from the counter! Be forewarned, there will be a line, however for a party of 2 we only had to wait in line about 15-20 minutes. After touring the Louvre all morning, Angelina was a perfect nearby stop to satisfy that sweet tooth before exploring the Jardin des Tuileries on a beautiful spring day. I will say for two people, this was WAY too much chocolate (did I really just say that...?) and we didn't finish all of it--but dang, it was GOOD! When in Paris one must visit one of the most famous cafes by stopping by Angelina! Reservations are strongly recommended but frequently get booked up months ahead of time. There was a long line when we visited, but it actually moved fairly fast. We were in line for only 30 minutes or so. Currently you must show your health pass on the French COVID app to be seated, so be sure you have this beforehand. It's a large dining room inside with tables fairly close together. There is also a small store if you wish to buy anything to go. Tip: shop after your meal because you'll get a 10% off voucher with your meal. Our server was energetic and spoke very good English. A menu in English was also available. I tried the iced chocolate beverage. Extremely rich but still refreshing and surprisingly not overly sweet. For an entree I selected the fish and chips. It was excellent! Exceptionally crispy fish with a sort of panko coating that was not oily or greasy. The fries were of the shoestring type and also very good. Of course you must save room for dessert! I opted for the Rocher praline. A deliciously rich hazelnut treat that was perfectly sized and again not overly sweet. This is a pretty well known chain - our second time at this location as well in Paris. I see that they do have some in New York. This time in Paris we learned the importance of planning and making reservations for dinner. This was the only restaurant that we tried that doesn't have a reservation or call ahead option. This meant that we knew we would wait in the queue to be seated. It was directly next door to the Christmas festival. The line wraps around and the wait was about 50-60 minutes. It is the same experience we had last time we waited. Question is: Is it worth the wait? For the experience YES. The inside is very glamorous and has a palacial ambiance. Our server was quite nice and the inside is VERY packed with other guests. They are known for their rich hot chocolate and side of whipped cream. INDULGENCE and RICHNESS is the key word here. It is all very decadent. And to top it off I got the cream ravioli with truffle sauce and then the white Mont Blanc. Mont Blanc is their signature dessert but I recommend a lighter option since the Mont Blanc is very intense and thick. They have a very extensive dessert menu making picking a dessert nearly impossible - just too much tempting choices. Eating here is a trek but I think a journey worth trying if you are ever in that area. read more

They informed us when we arrived (during a weekday, mind you) that the wait would likely be a bit over 2 hours--yikes! This was solely for the folks who wanted to sit down, but there was no line for the little takeout cafe inside on the right. We grabbed some pastries and chocolate to go and had the absolute best experience in the park together. I'd certainly stop by if you're in Paris, but I don't think it's worth a 2+ hour wait. We ordered the Millefeuille, the Mont Blanc, croissant sandwich, and French onion soup. All great, with the exception of the Mont Blanc, which we thought was just ok. Not worth the hype :( Angelina Cafe is a very popular and viral cafe in Paris known for their hot chocolate. It is also popular for its Mont Blanc and other desserts. I waited in line for a little less than an hour for a table. Do note, that you can go in and bypass the line if you just want to order to-go/ just grab a pastry. There was a long line when I went. The interior of the cafe is BEAUTIFUL. It is so pretty and the ambiance was amazing. The decoration was so pretty, coquette, and perfect for brunch or a snack. The property is also quite large with two floors and many tables to accomodate the crowd. Food: Unfortunately, I do not have good things to say about the food. I ordered the hot chocolate, a paris brest, and a croissant. The hot chocolate was indeed rich and decadent, but it was almost like drinking melted chocolate.
