Should be on the list of stops for groceries just for their produce. On their website, they carried ' Rodolphe Le Meunier' brand butter, so we went specifically for that. But they didn't carry it at this location, but did notice they have a large selection of Polish butter, so we picked one package up. We also noticed they have a decent size olive bar. Even though it was a weekday and not particularly busy, multiple registers (including the Express 15 or less) were open, which was a good sign they are well staffed. read more

Great location, great service, always amazing food. I have always loved Caputo's and specifically Angelo's stores. My family also owned grocery stores. But my Nonna Joe told me that he trusted Caputo's enough that he could close his store and focus on his construction business. First time back in store since remodel. Its now required to bring a cart in from outside. The fruits and vegs look as good as usual. Most of the regular products look to be available though some prices are unusally high. The hotbar is $9.99/lb I included a picture of my purchase there. I went to checkout #2 this Saturday morning and had to ask the checker if she would please put the potato chips in a separate bag after she packed a bag of apples and box of dried fruit in with them (should have been routine). She was asked by the woman at the desk (close behind be), "Are you sick?" She gave a noncommittal reply. As i turned to leave, a different employee was speaking to the woman behind the desk and had of a coughing fit! (Barely covering her mouth WITH HER HAND. Come ON!!! Mask up if you have any symptoms. Caputos is great for international foods (although mainly Italian) and a fair selection of produce and shelf products. This location however, just isn't the cleanest and for that reason I choose to avoid. read more

Another great example what I run across while shopping at this store. When you first walk in there is a shelf of chips on sale for $2.99/lb. As you look closer, you will find bags priced at $2.99/lb but most others priced at $3.99/lb. So you are out of luck when you get home and find out you paid $3.99/lb. I would very much suggest you check your receipts prior leaving for I believe this store is notorious for making mistakes. Why do I still come here? I ask myself this all the time. What I do know is, I come here half the time and spend half as much. They were selling humus 10 for $10, but when I got to the register they were $1.99 each. The thing is, the manager knew right away probably because prior to me other customers brought to their attention. Their pricing wasn't reflecting the correct price. I LOVE CAPUTO'S, I LOVE CAPUTO'S, I LOVE CAPUTO'S!! (I'm singing that, in case you were wondering) Perfectly placed right off the Elgin-O'Hare expressway and on Lake Street (Route 20). Truly easily accessible. I live in Schaumburg and drive here over Valli a lot simply because they are easy to get to, and the staff is incredible. Produce section is well stocked and organized (see the photos I uploaded). They have pretty much anything you need. Their pricing is right. The deli is usually a mad-house- hence the need for the "order at the front of the store" kiosk they have recently installed. You can place you orders right in the produce dept. and your order will be ready for pick up after you have completed the rest of your shopping. They have a nice meat/seafood section. We get our Italian Sausage here for my pasta sauce and you can get some nice ground pork here too for chili and meatballs. They always have some meat/chicken/pork items on sale. Their soda is never a reasonable price, but that's what Jewel and Wal-mart are for. They have a nice bakery and prepared foods section for those evening you don't feel like cooking. And you can get lost in that bakery. Everything is yummy! I skip the canned and frozen food aisles just because this is not the place to buy those things, but you can get your produce, deli, meats and baked goods off your list at Caputo's in Hanover Park! read more

Usually this business is my go to for Italian specialties but this location is not my favorite. Very limited supply of vegetable varieties and Italian imports. Staff also not as friendly as other locations. I asked the bakery if they had any fresh rolls coming out of the oven, as other locations bake continuously through the evening. The woman just said no and walked away. She proceeded to get fresh bag outside of the oven and put them out. After I selected some rolls that were sitting out all day and I decided to put them back and take a fresh baguette had I known I wouldn't have picked the rolls at all. I also had been to another location the week prior for some amazing organic fresh cherries. They were not available at this location at all. Also the Sicilian eggplants were not available. The deli was average and when I asked for a particular cut of meat, I was told that was it. It was the end of a roll which was extremely fatty. Other locations would have started a new roll. Because I travel from out of state, it's special products such as these that I go for. The checkout was smooth and satisfactory but I won't go back to this location. read more

Service at the deli was slow because it wasn't staffed enough. I waited 20 minutes to be served. I got 3 lbs of prosciutto. Brought it home and could hardly eat it. I was so bummed. Its parma too so I paid top dollar. There is this weird coating on the edges of the meat that you cannot chew that is like plastic! I have to peel the edge off each piece to be able to use it. Is it coated in some thing that they didn't cut off or remove before slicing my meat? Not impressed with this location and I love Caputos too. read more

I was extremely disappointed in utilizing Caputo's online shopping experience. I opted to online shop and have my items ready for pick up. I've used this service before, but last week's experience has made me reevaluate who I grocery shop with. Here are my reasons: -the shopper who gathered the items from my list, deemed most of my items out of stock. My husband had to shop for the rest of the items such as, Deans Half and Half, Diet Pepsi, Ginger Ale, -fruit ordered were bruised and had old cuts in them, such as my apples, mangos and avocados. The individual who "shopped for me" gave me horrible fruit. -the online inventory does not match the store's inventory -customers' are unable to purchase meat items In theory, this is a great idea for the disabled, sick, elderly or who are just not physically able to go to the grocery store. Unfortunately, this service is lack-luster and creates more work for the customer. You still have to physically shop for items that are deemed out of stock, even though the items are clearly in abundance in the store. It seemed as if my shopper did not care or may have not been able to comprehend the shopping list. Even though Caputo's in Hanover Park is down the street from me and has the convenience of grocery delivery or pickup, this is the absolutely last time i will be shopping at Caputos. I would rather inconvenience myself and physically go to its competitors, Valli Produce, Jewel, Marianos, or Whole Foods and pay a premium price for premium service. read more

I usually go to the Caputo's down the road in Bloomingdale, but I swung by this location recently to pick up some sweets on the way to a friend's house. The bakery is drool-worthy. I selected some gorgeous gourmet cupcakes (with strawberries dipped in white chocolate on top) and marzipan fruit shapes. The cupcakes (at $1.25 each) were absolutely wonderful and the marzipan ($1 each) was a delight in my mouth. The woman that helped me was very patient and helpful. Actually, everyone here is very nice! Smiles and kind words all around. One of the stockboys even insisted on getting me a basket because my arms were full, and it took a few minutes to convince him that no, I really did not need a basket because I am used to carrying things around. The rest of the store? Meh. Super cramped and doesn't have a plethora of options. This place is fine for a quick run inside to get some items, but not for full-on grocery shopping. The prices weren't that appealing, either. I'll stick with the Bloomingdale location, but at least I finally checked this one out! read more

Went to Caputos tonight for a few things. Bought a package of ground sirloin. I thought it was in a weird shape within the package but the sell by date was the next day so I figured it was fine. Went home, 3-4 hours later I pulled it out of my fridge and went to make burger patties but when I broke off some of the beef it became clear why the beef was in a weird shape. The package of beef had 2 circles in it, kinda of looking like 2 snakes coiled up. Upon breaking these circles it was apparent that Caputos wrapped fresh meat around the outside of old meat. The outside was nice and red, the inside was brown, like the color of cooked ground beef. I immediately threw it out. This is disgusting. read more

My favorite grocery place. They have a cheese and ham counter and a pastry counter in the store. Lots of international items to choose from. Grocery price is fair, place has improved in cleanliness and lighting. You can tell they are trying to improve the customer experience and do a good job. Keep up the good work! read more

You can find some decent prices here, but look at what you're buying closely. Check expiration dates. Stay away from any of their baked goods, home store made stuff, or things made by nearby bakeries. I ordered a few pastries from their bakery... both were bad. I also saw expired bread from a Chicago bakery with mold on it, still on their shelves for sale. One nice thing is that this has a US Bank inside. However, there's no door to get to the bank directly which is a little annoying. read more

We shop here often, the over all quality of the protein and produce is good. We enjoy the packaged items as most are from other countries and are enjoyed by our family. Especially the cookies, candy and treats. The bakery is decent but the prepared foods need some help. Your better off at Marianos if you looking for ready made items. After shopping here for a few years we still find the layout of the store confusing and annoying. I can't ever remember where anything is. We also fine the cash register layout rather confusing. My Go-To place for fresh produce. This place always has the freshest and best looking fruits and vegetables. If you're one of those people that likes to cook your own dinner once in a while then this is your place. Like pre-made frozen meals? Don't come here, Stouffers and lean cuisines are never on sale and there is fewer choices than meijer or jewel. I've found lots of foods that you normally can't find at your average grocery store here like Habaneros, Lychee fruit, Champagne Grapes (Black Corinth Grapes), Real Canned San Marzano Tomatoes...etc the list goes on. Their fruit shelves are usually seasonal so you know whats in season and they have better seafood than most like vongole (Baby clams), monkfish, razor clam, octopus, and non canned sardines. The deli here is pretty massive with some salami's and cheeses you'll probably not find anywhere else and the meat selection is usually very fresh. The best part I think is the cafe next to the bakery here. They have daily specials which are ridiculous: 1 dollar for a slice of pizza, 3 bucks for a 1 pound italian beef sandwich dripping with au jus...etc. I usually shop then eat lunch here. Again, if you like your meals out of a box or a bag or a jar this ain't your place but if you're a fan of the soon to be lost art of cooking from scratch, let Caputo's be your ingredient headquarters. Overall this place is pretty impressive and the prices are usually great too. read more

If you're headed to Caputo's, save yourself the hassle and head to the one in Bloomingdale instead! The Hanover Park location tends to be a lot busier, with less friendly staff, and far less fresh produce. Whenever I've gone to the Hanover Park location, I've left with a headache. With a lot of displays and tight aisles, having a crammed space makes for a lot of bumping carts and a maze-like adventure. For a quick run in for a couple items, Caputo's will serve you just fine. However, if you're looking to do a larger grocery shop, head to the Bloomingdale location for a bigger and fresher selection of meats and produce. read more

And, your cashier, Victoria, not only did not tell the customers she was checking out that they BOTH needed to be wearing masks, Victoria decided she didn't need to properly wear hers as well. I go to this location every week and this problem has increasingly gotten worse. Please do what's right and have your employees and your customers follow the polices you set. Excellent produce selection, deli and cheese selection. Also their prices are excellent. The negatives are yes, it does get crowded. Also, they don't have a huge frozen food selection. They are very limited in their Lean Cuisines (which I take to lunch) and their ice cream. These negatives are minor to me - you can get great produce at great prices, and the cost is always impressively low. I can't say enough of about this store. the service is great, and they are doing a booming business. Kudos to the Caputo family. Prices are reasonable, they have a fantastic bakery area with home-made delicacies like Italian lemon cookie, cakes, cream puffs, and at Christmas time, they have rumballs. They also have hot prepared food like baked chicken, lasagna, chicken vesuvio and potatoes, even hot mixed vegetables- so you can eat a fantastic meal right in the store, and then continue shopping! The produce is reasonable, organized, fresh and just generally outstanding. All kinds of apples, lettuce, you-name-it. I bought crisp large fennel bulbs here for a fennel bulb salad that was incredible. The aisles are neatly stocked, and everything is labeled and pretty easy to find. Their meat department offers old-fashioned butcher-style generous cuts of meat (like pork chops and steaks) and all kinds of fish and the most unbelievably delicious home-made breakfast sausage that is to die for, amidst other fantastic offerings like home made italian sausage with provolone. This is where you can turn yourself into somebody's italian mother. Sharing good food is the their thing, and for someone that cooks, walking through here is inspiring, and you're sure to come home with something the family will thoroughly enjoy. read more

I always avoided going here because I expected it to be really busy and expensive. Well it is kinda busy, but it really depends on when you go. However, it's really not that expensive. The produce is pretty fresh and the prices are great. In fact, they are better than other nearby groceries, even with the loyalty cards. It doesn't have everything you need like some of the bigger stores, but if you like organic or fresh veggies and fruits, it really can't be beat. Best place to go for all your italian grocery shopping needs. Large produce department and bulk food section. A complete isle of nothing but different types of pasta. Their deli section has a large variety of imported italian meats and they make their own fresh mozzarella cheese. They also make their own italian sausage which is delicious and have many marinated meat and chicken choices. The place gets real busy on weekends so be prepared for a wait at the deli. read more

Just as everyone else has said, Caputos has insanely fresh produce and at an amazing price. It isn't cheap, but it is better than Jewel. Their deli is fantastic!! Lots of choices and def cheap prices. I hate spending $8 on Jewel Brand deli meat and would rather travel to get a better product here :) It can get busy because this place is loved, so if you don't want a crowd, I'd suggest going sometime during the week. This is the only place I can afford deli meat AND veg at the same time! They are 1/2 as much as the big stores and better selections! Only things that keep it from 5 stars are: The traffic flow on the way in-when too many people stop to look at the produce at the start, it creates a log jam at times. So I love the seafood here but last night I had an experience that I had to write a review on (& I don't write reviews normally). Last night my fiancé and I were walking to the back to get some salmon. The guy who works in the back where the seafood is walked out and pulled on his pants, zipped them up, and buckled his belt. I don't know what he just finished doing in the back, maybe there is a bathroom back there? But still, do that in the bathroom and not by the customers. & whose to assume he washed his hands (no matter what he was doing) if he waited till he was in the front to zip his pants. This was my first time shopping at Caputo's. I decided to shop here because my father likes this store, I on the other had was not impressed at all. I found the produce to be old and moldy, I was picking out red onions when i picked one up and my finger sunk into it, then i went to go look at the cherry tomatoes and they had mold on them. The selection of nightshades here are a family addiction, such as eggplants & bell peppers, including but not limited to Chinese, Indian Sicilian, baba ghanouj style, & the ones good for bakes. You can do mirchi ka salan with the banana wax, stuffed with the tricolors or ancient, or straight up mixed capsicums for the pudas, gumbo's, or chutneys / hummuses. I personally love the varietys of tomatoes campari, cherry, vine ripe, but then you'll get the kumatos for brushcetta or with buffalo mozorella, herbs spices, & oil. They have basil, mint, parsley, beet greens, & all types of cucumbers, Persian, pickle, English, & mushrooms, including portabellas. I also like the whole walnuts, pears lemons, medjools, specialty grapes, & blackberries. Our family has bought loads of Indian veggies there when we just can't get to Patel Bros. Some other interesting items are birch water, the fococia once in a while, & Lavaza Espresso roast... We go to this Caputos for produce and deli. They are always very busy, which is good, so the turnover is very high. Everything is very fresh and very affordable. Their deli is great, much better than the other Caputos in the area. We often buy their fish. Their homemade everything are very tasty. There are a lot of young kids working there and are very helpful and nice. The store is well kept and often has someone cleaning the isles and making sure the products look nice. I have been going to this Caputo's location for over 10 years and I used to love it. The variety of different ethnics products is excellent. In the past year or two I have noticed the prices have gone up while quality of homemade foods and cleanliness of the store have dropped drastically. When you first enter the store you can smell something that is not fresh. The closer you get to deli/meat department the worse it gets. I have stopped purchasing any fresh meet or fish products because of this strong, not so fresh smell. Even freshly made Pico de Gallo salsa doesn't seem so fresh anymore...... I wish this store was cleaned more thoroughly and/or the store could use a remodeling job. I really want to shop in Caputo's but recently I caught myself driving more often to other local stores to find a better, fresher products and more pleasant, clean environment. read more

Horrible customer service, Tom made me feel like a liar when I returned a product that would have made my family sick had we consumed it. He wanted to know how I cooked it and that no one else had any complaints about it. He hesitated to give me a refund. I have been shopping at this location since it opened and this is the first product I have ever brought back. Be careful of their meat, I would hate for a family to become sick after eating it. I think they went to the dark packaging so customers couldn't see what they were actually purchasing. Shame on you Caputos. read more

Amazing, absolutely amazing. Hands down the best, cheapest imported deli meats you can find in the area. The produce is always fresh, the workers are very helpful, and they always have fresh bread right out of the oven. I love how they expanded into a kitchen as well, so I always stop in and grab an espresso before I start my shopping. I have lived in California the past 5 years, but I go back to Chicago often. I always stop at Caputos before I come back to Cali and stock up on my parmigiano reggiano and homemade sausage. It is a THIRD of the price, and wayyyyyy better!!!! read more
