I've been coming here for years and always enjoyed the food. It is pricey but I knew it was all homemade and always delicious. Today was the first time I decided to get sandwiches. I ordered a Turkey BLT on a hard roll which is 14 dollars and I was ok with that. When I went to pay they added 2 dollars for the bacon and 2 dollars for roasted red peppers. I could not believe I just bought a 18 dollar sandwich!! The up charge on a 14 dollar sandwich is kind of crazy...why are you charging me extra for roasted red peppers! I've been a loyal customer for years and this just really turned me off...paying almost 20 dollars for a sandwich. read more

Angelo's has quickly become one of my new favorite Italian markets! Pastries, deli sandwiches, and imported products - they have it all, and everything is so high quality! I'm obsessed with their Easter bread, and their cannoli, lobster tails, and amaretti cookies are all incredible. The prosciutto deli sandwich was one of the best I've had! They were generous with the olive oil, and their freshly baked bread was fantastic. The owners were really sweet and welcoming, and they even have tables for you to sit at and enjoy your sandwich in the front of the market. A very tasty authentic Italian grocery, with lots of foods to try. Pricy, but tasty. Have you ever had a hankering for a good pepperoni or Sopressa? Well, today was one of those days. So I looked up the best place for some italian meats, and this was one of the best locations I could find on yelp. Tracked down this location, and it's not much of a looker. Kind of plain jane from the outside. Inside, the first thing that hits you is the fresh garlic bread they keep right by the register in front. It's all uphill from there. They had a lot of prepped sandwiches on the counters, tons of stuffed breads and a full deli case of olives and stuffed peppers. They had 360 displays of cured meats they did in house, and plenty of tomatoes and oils to select from. We got a pretty big haul, all things considered. A sandwich, stuffed bread, lots of meats and cheeses, and I couldn't say no to grabbing one of those fresh garlic breads and a couple cookies on the way out. Most everything we got was good. The meats were a little bland, needed to be sliced very thin to be edible or you would get a bit of a gummy chew. sandwich and stuffed bread was solid, the cookies were pretty good as well. The meats and cheeses added up quickly, and if they were a bit better seasoned then it would be very much worth it. But the prepared foods were very tasty and well worth the prices. So although their in-house meats are a little lackluster, the rest of the items they prepare are very good. If you need an italian grocery, you'd be hard-pressed to find a better one around. The pictures made me go but I was highly disappointed! We got there at 5:24p. They close at 6p. We were rushed through ordering with about six people staring at us. I got a salad with chicken and my friend got an Italian sub. Neither were that great but both were over $16. Way overpriced for dry chicken and a basic meat sandwich. WORST egg sandwich I ever had. first off, it was $9 for a barely cooked egg and raw bacon on a big roll. The service is always excellent the food is amazing from the pastas to the meatballs and all the assorted sandwiches there is something for everybody!!!! Being review #300 this was a very difficult decision on picking just the right Review. Angelo's has been a steady Go-To for a number of years. A neighbor friend first introduced me way back when. It was the Neighborhood Carol Sing, we were hosting, depending on your living at an odd or even address, everyone brings either an appetizer or a desert. Host provides beverage and a warm fireplace to thaw. Well, in walks Dude with a six foot board hoisted on one shoulder topped with the most amazing six foot grinder. All were impressed, most importantly, yours truly. This was my intro to Angelo's. Since then we have pre-ordered numerous six footers, pans of lasagna, meatballs in sauce, sides that could swoon any foodie. Hard salamis, breads, cheeses, and pour your own olive oils. Food To-Go and frozen pastas and dishes for another day. Never lacking a choice at Angelo's or the most incredible personalized service that's only second to Mama Leone herself! My husband and I were hoping to find a good Italian Market since moving to Southington a couple months ago. We just discovered Angelo's Market in New Britain and it definitely fits the bill! Deli counter here is very good. I like the vegan options. It's possible to get a healthy lunch that is also delicious. Every day they have food specials. The jambalaya rice is out of this world. The grinders are also perfect. My husband loves them. It's shocking since they are Italian but they are lousy. Bland and tasteless. One of more boring cutlets I've ever had. Came in this morning for a quick breakfast sandwich/cappuccino and was immediately overwhelmed. Not only is this place a great deli but it also offers an amazing selection of genuine Italian products and catering. The display cases were filled with a freshly made assortment of salads, stuffed peppers, bbq ribs, chicken cutlet, fresh mozzarella, olives, desserts, the list goes on and on! This market offers a wide variety of meats, cheeses, baked goods and prepared food with the option of dining in or takeout. I have stopped in twice recently and can now recommend this deli/market with a few caveats. On the first visit I ordered tiramisu and broccoli rabe for takeout, the tiramisu was terrible, I did not think that was possible, due to an overabundance of dry cake. The broccoli rabe fared better when reheated in a little EVOO. On my second visit my wife and I enjoyed a lunch by sharing a spinach and cheese bread that was warmed for us in the pizza oven. We also purchased 2 slices of lemon cake for take out. The cake proved to be light with a tangy filling and topping. Overall prices are on the high side, but not excessively so. read more

They've taken care of me whenever I've called them with requests for huge orders for lunch programs I host, as well as when I myself need a meal that I know is going to be exactly what I expect (delicious) and it's truly authentic Italian cuisine. (My grandparents came to New Britain from Italy, so anytime someone mentions a chain restaurant when they want Italian food, I physically cringe.) I love this place!!! They have so many sandwiches, pasta salads, and prepared foods to choose from. The chicken parm is phenomenal. The bread is always fresh and delicious. They have pizza by the slice and the most mouth-watering stuffed breads. Plus, lots of beverages and chips to choose from to have with their sandwiches. They have a nice selection of baked goods too. Fresh and tasty cannolis, cookies, brownies, cheese Danish squares, eclairs & a few other things. I have yet to try their "chocolate chip cookie bars"...but they look amazing. Plus, their chocolate chip cookies are great so I'd imagine one in bar-form would be just as good. But seriously, the chocolate chip cookies are so yummy: big, chewy with a slight crisp, soft, and they have that unique texture where you get a different sized chocolate chunk in every bite. I'm a huge sweets fan so this is a big deal to me!! :) Everything is really great quality and the workers are always super friendly. You can tell that they have a passion for their job because they look happy to be there--even at 7 in the morning! Yes, I have been there that early because I picked up a few sandwiches for later in the day. They were really nice about keeping the sandwich cold for me to heat up later. If you're ever in central ct and need a quick bite to eat-- do it! They're located right near walnut hill park in New Britain. Let's focus on what's good, here. Theirs is the best roast beef in New Britain. Salads are hit-or-miss; artichokes with stem were excellent ($11/lb), their green coleslaw ($5/lb) is unique and delicious (they have regular slaw, too. Cold cuts are very good and wrapped appropriately - but expensive. A vast display of premium cheeses are displayed attractively - costly, though. Don't buy individual olives, the mixed olive salad ($6 a pound) is a much more flavorful option. A modest display of Italian grocery specialties is all top shelf. There is also an enticing olive oil bar, that encourages people to bring their own containers to save money. If you are into that, it certainly beats the olive oil place in West Hartford. A house-made sausage with burgundy and fennel (&5.49/lb) was a disappointment. When we grilled it, the casing broke, because the meat and seasonings were too loose/moist. The flavor and grind were unremarkable. Calamari salad was acidic, and contained artificial crab product. Service can't be faulted - during one busy time best buddy thought they were obtrusive. Better that than the other way around! The main thing that bothers us is the lack of prices. It's not that I'm cheap, but won't you please write something to let me know? Please, please Angelo's, do what everyone else does - just let us know. It is troublesome to have to ask, and just as troublesome to receive unpleasant surprises. read more

Hubby does the shopping, but he caught Covid. I asked him for some sort of deli in the area and he told me about this place, so I went here for food for a couple of days. I bought mostly salads and every one of them was literally the best I have ever had! Hubby will eat anything, but I'm more picky and have stomach issues. I bought like 8 or 10 different things and was so happily satisfied with each meal. Chicken salad, orzo salad, macaroni salad, melon salad, egg salad, cole slaw - I don't remember what else. I am not from this area however when I have training at work, this deli is right down the road from the training academy. I have been here a few times, and each time gotten some great Italian selections in the deli line. All of the staff are friendly, but usually there is a wait especially during lunch time!
