Best pasta spot on the east side? I think so! Angelos is a cozy spot for your Italian cravings. They have tasty wines and great recommendations if you're not sure what you want. My favorite is their pino grigio. I personally think the pasta here is better than carmines. The portions and prices are great. Great dessert menu. Their dishes are so flavorful and not greasy/oily like most Italian restaurants I've been to. Their mussels are to die for! The sauce is amazing, you'll want to order a few extra plates of bread to dip it in. The staff knows to ask before taking this dish away even if the mussels are all done, the sauce is that good! A few of my favorite dishes there are the salmon penne, penne amatriciana (no longer on the menu, but you can still order it), their salmon penne (occasionally pops up on the specials menu, and the seafood cannelloni. Checked out this place for dinner. On a Saturday night, parking was ample. It's located in industrial/business area (think auto shop, paint store). We got there when it first opened for dinner so take my review of the parking for what it's worth. There's a brewery close by so maybe parking space can become a commodity at later times. I can see how they're busier during lunch time given there are few restaurants nearby. The inside reminds me of Marie Callender's. One section has those high booths mentioned by other Yelpers. I imagine it can sit up to 4 comfortably, maybe six if you don't mind cozying up with your seat mates. As far as food...it's good. Don't expect authentic Italian (go to Italy if you're looking for authenticity), but it's pretty good. For appetizers, we chose from the specials -- surf turf earth. Scallops, mortadella, mushrooms stacked on a duo of sauce. Serves 2, but can easily be shared among 3. Scallops were cooked nicely and the 2 sauce complimented each other. While waiting, we were served complimentary bread. Don't expect it to be warm. It has toasted sesame seeds on the outside which added a nice taste to it. I had Black Spaghetti with scallops and shrimp in buttered white wine sauce (from their specials menu). Second time I've had spaghetti infused in squid ink and don't let the squid ink turn you off from trying this dish. You can't really taste it...just like eating spaghetti. I was told it's really more for cosmetics. In Italy, they use squid ink in the sauce so I Imagine that has more squid ink flavor. Scallops and shrimp were cooked nicely and you can definitely taste the butter and garlic in the white wine sauce. Yumm! Hubby ordered the sausage and peppers and he enjoyed that dish very much. It paired well with a glass of Chianti. Another dish we ordered was the Filet mignon. I didn't get to taste it as it was devoured very fast. All our meal came with a choice of soup or salad. I had the soup, which was minestrone that night. It was bland. The salad was just iceberg lettuce with sliced eggs, nothing special. We would definitely go back to try the other choices on the menu. The manager (maybe owner?) has even been waiting on my table. He boxed my leftover food and labeled the box! I've never seen anyone do that, but love that he did. Bravissimo! I'm on a hunt to find a caesar salad that can top one I had on Charles Street in Boston. I think I found it. The plates were chilled, the salad crisp, the dressing was light, the bread crumbs fresh. The special, salmon piccata melted in my mouth - as it should. Olive oil, butter?, capers - was fresh light. After binging on Netflix series Grande Maison Tokyo I asked Stephen, the sommelier, for a wine to complement the fish. He was spot on with Bramito a Chardonnay from Umbria. The tiramisu was as fresh as frozen tiramisu flown in from Italy can get! But, it was the seasonal blackberry cheesecake made by the in-house pastry chef that had us oohing with every bite. d I'm sorry I found this jewel on 130th Ave, the week of my departure from Bellevue. The atmosphere is tasteful - the high quilted banquettes are an homage to the Angelo's 60 year service to Bellevue. Preface: I was in the bar not the main restaurant. I was super impressed! The food was amazing, our bartender (Jen) was fantastic, and the drinks were tasty! Wine wise my favorite was the Lagone. It was fairly priced and a pretty full bodied yet smooth bottle of wine! I got the rib eye, but prepared with the roquefort and port glaze and it was to die for. Good size steak and the port wine sauce is incredible. The penne puttanesca was also delicious and we spiked it with a sausage which really perfected the dish. The salads were delicious, but I didn't try the soup. The tiramisu there was honestly fantastic. I try it at every Italian restaurant I go to and this is a top 10% tiramisu for sure. I discovered Angelo's a few years back when I was looking for a specific Italian dish, sausage & peppers. I used to get this when I was living in New York and every time I looked for it out here, no one had it, until Angelo's! They have their artisan sausage made locally by an older gent who has been making Italian sausage his whole life. This dish is delicious and I have been back a number of times to get it. The service is prompt and attentive and the food comes out quickly depending on how many people are in the restaurant. The ambiance is typical small Italian, not super high end but very comfortable. **Customers please be aware** Tonight my husband placed a takeout order on the phone and went to the restaurant to pickup the food. I was waiting at home (5 min drive) but it took an hr for him to bring back the food. My husband said they had not even prepared the food when he arrived. The manager said "you didn't pay 20% tip last time you ordered takeout, that is why the server didn't put the order." First of all, tip should not be mandatory for takeout order. But the manager argue that takeout order requires more "work" by putting food in the box and bag. How difficult is it to put the food in the box??? Second, the reason why we didn't tip last time was the restaurant made mistake by forgetting some items. Do they expect us to pay 20% tip even when they made mistake? Last and most importantly, it is wrong for the restaurant to trick customer by pretending to take order and intentionally Ignoring the order. If they do not want to take the order for whatever reasons, they should let us know so we don't waste our time. This restaurant lacks basic business moral. read more

I'd give it a 3.5 stars. The atmosphere was alright. Kind of dark, even for lunch, but you could take the decor as "homey". The important part is that it was clean, I just wish it wasn't so dark. The food was good, but not great. While I did like the taste, it wasn't hitting any special notes with me. The price is *okay* for your portion, but I think most people wouldn't consider it filling. My companions were convinced the ravioli and tomato sauce were not prepared in house or frozen, though the taste was okay to me. They didn't think the tastes and ingredients felt authetic to our past experiences (long time in Europe) and other Italian places. We also had some kind of seafood pasta (prawns), which was a little disappointing on flavor. It was very buttery and not much else. I'm not really interested in something that sort of feels like you just dumped xyz on top of boiled pasta with butter. I mean, i liked it enough, but it certainly wasn't a showstopper. Service was great! Honestly my companions were a little on the edge, but our server was very gracious. She checked on us once or twice during the meal. I enjoyed it enough that I might consider take-out if I was around. The italian soda we had wasn't bad either, but even if it's lunch, i would have liked some kind of menu. I came here for a birthday party with a party of 11 on a Monday night never hearing about Angelo's. As one of our party spun stories that she heard of the place I noted a few things. The parking is ample provided you get there early enough. The spaces are a bit small for those people who have larger cars. The ambiance itself is the classic Italian diner feel - low lighting, greens, browns, nice tables. Our waitress was kind, punctual, and on top of her game. She had everything well under control. I had ordered a special - a white sauce gnocchi that was oh so good. They were light little pillows of doughy deliciousness that I had no problems eating the entire bowl. I felt kinda like a pig because I think I was the only one who did so but I completely skipped the bread that our waitress kept us full with and also forgo the salad or soup because why would I fill my belly with those things when they had such wonderful gnocchi! I ordered a Moscow Mule here as well and it came out delicious. It was perfectly mixed, not too strong and not too weak. I was very impressed. I did not have dessert as many of the people were very full and our hostess brought a birthday cake that the staff brought out for us to share. We were told that no dogs of any kind were allowed in their restaurant by the bartender Julie and that they "could make whatever rules [they] wanted because it's their establishment." I grew up in a relatively heavily italian-influenced part of New York, and Angelo's reminds me of the corner mom-and-pop home-cooked italian family restaurants in that area. I had the eggplant parm and it was on point; many eggplant parms are too thin and overly breaded, so you are basically eating fried breading with cheese and marinara. not so here. the eggplant tastes like eggplant and is perfectly prepared. My husband and I live about a mile from Angelo's and came across it right after everything re-opened from Covid. We decided to "check it out" one Friday night and ended up staying for 2-3 hours trying different wines and appetizers and food and desserts. And then when it was all said and done, the bill was less than $200. For 2-3 hours of food, drinks, desserts & a very nice bottle of wine? Incredible! Ever since we go about 1x per month and we bring friends and family whenever they are in town. The atmosphere is wonderful. It's great for groups & parties. Lots of long term, loyal (even 2-3 generation) employees & waitresses. Service is very attentive and they make you feel like family. I seriously love it here: the bar & the restaurant side. Food is delicious, always good specials menu & the bar happy hour meal is always yummy and $8-11! Also, they ship 4 of their desserts from Italy. No joke! Lol. The menu is very limited, but some items were good, some average. We tried the seasoned sweet potato fries and the Eggplant Diana dish. Fries were average, served warm but not hot. The spaghetti didn't have a lot of flavor, given that nearly all of the sauce was absorbed by the pasta. The meat in the sauce was a meager amount. The chicken Alfredo needed more flavor, also. The LeClair dessert was good. The Panna cotta was very thick and might have been better with some bittersweet chocolate added. The salads were the highlight, being fresh, crunchy and dressed with good dressings. We are drawn to Italian restaurants with brighter, more distinct flavors. I had driven by here many years but had never eaten there. I saw the restaurant opened in 1976. We arrived at first and saw options in the bar, on the patio or inside. My son and I opted not for the bar because it seemed rather dated with big leather. The server or manager, the man who greeted us first asked if we had reservations which seemed odd to us because the restaurant was nearly empty at that time. It seemed like he had a hard time hearing us some times. My guess is he needs hearing aids like me. We choose to sit in a nice table with a booth mid-restaurant which was perfect. The restaurant seemed dated and too dark but was very clean. The waitress came and told us about the specials but said, oh, you didn't get any menus. We choose the seafood Cannelloni and Veal Saltimbocca wrapped in prosciutto along with roasted potato, broccoli and zucchini. My son choose to have Italian Cheesecake as dessert. All food was excellent, service very quick. Also they heard we wanted to split and try each dishes. They divided everything in half so my photos only show half of the dishes. They did not charge us an extra charge for this unlike many restaurants. Very friendly, good recommendations and unpretentious. We asked one young lady server a question about the food. She did not know the answer but asked the question to others came back and told us. Soup and salad great. We could tell made from scratch. Many soups are too salty, Theirs were perfect. Main dishes delicious. The Veal Saltimbocca had prosciutto on the top of the veal which was superb and not salty at all. The vegetables were great and crunchy. Many restaurant concentrate on the main dish. I was impressed with the zucchini because I usually hate it because it is too mushy, This zucchini was great. The female wait staff gave our large group exemplary service. The food was excellent. My rib eye steak with extra mushrooms cut with a fork and tasted amazing. Our group had not met for 3 years and the ambiance and not feeling rushed was a blessing. Desserts were decadent. And order the salmon cakes for an appetizer - they are a great way to begin a meal. My friends complimented the pasta dishes. This food was SO much better than what I had recently at a well known steak house. Great find- after disappointing dinner the night before and awful lunch experience in Woodenville, we were pleasantly surprised. Greeted by a friendly host we requested a booth. We did bring our own Brunello as the wine list on their website is very poor. Only to have another surprise- the wine list they provided at teh table is great- as I love Italian (Tuscan) wine was amazed they had Brunello Di Montalcino from Castiglion del Bosco- where I actually stayed on their property last year. This was like a miracle! The caprese salad as app was fantastic, nice mixed greens as well along with tomato and fresh mozz, nice balsamic reduction. The house salads that came with the meals were not that great- very dry and forgettable fro sure. However, they were flexible enough due to my dietary needs that made me a special pasta which was not exactly what I asked for (vodka cream sauce) but did teh job and was good. The chicken Marsala sauce was one of the best I ever tasted and surely the veggies were fresh as well. Being born and raised here in the PNW, I've never been to Angelo's here in Bellevue. Upon entering, I was greeted by beautiful artwork of panels of different wines. I entered through another door where I waited at the podium to be greeted. I can see different selections of wine in the back of the restaurant, along with an open view of kitchen. The restaurant was empty because of takeout only. I waited about 2 minutes to be greeted and nobody had come to say hello. I took it upon myself to walk to the back near the kitchen where we caught the attention of a staff member who I let know I was waiting and never was attended to - whom I believe is the owner since she mentioned the restaurant has been there for over 44 years. I don't remember the names of the food but I recall ordering seafood pasta, spaghetti and meatballs, and another dish that was recommended and it was the most delicious. Everything was good. 4 stars because I waited podium and had to grab the attention of staff... I don't know if it was the lighting and they couldn't see or hear me come in. To sum up, food was good, decor was nice, convenient location, good parking, nice atmosphere, fresh food, and food came out fast. (And, a DISPENSARY ACROSS THE STREET) read more

The food here is high quality and very good! The customer service is fantastic, too. I called in my order and sometimes they'll make tortellini for us if they have it on hand, but this last time we ordered fettuccine alfredo and spaghetti with meatballs, both of which were delicious. A humorous thing happened as the person taking my order mistakenly used a curse word and gave us a complimentary tiramisu as a customer service gesture. We weren't bothered at all and thought that was so kind! This place is an institution in Bellevue and we'll keep coming back! read more

Suggested by my brother, I have sadly passedby this restaurant many times over the years. I had the lamb meatballs, the flavors will "knock your socks off" and Black spaghetti for my main course. It containes squid ink but please do not let that deter you from trying it. It was a first for me but I'm all about the seafood which was perfect. I finished my meal off with tiramisu. All and all just OK. The service was great and the little bit of food I had was fine. I think it was partly my mistake for ordering a side of meatballs, no pasta and no bread. Seemed like a simple request for an Italian restaurant, but what arrived was 2 small barely golf ball sized meatballs. I was then charged $14 for them. When I asked, I was told it was because they have veal in them. It didn't make any sense. I take partial responsibility for ordering something "off menu" so I guess my recommendation is to never do that at this place, even if it seems like a simple item. read more

The service continues to be 5 stars. The approach to the menu is old school and great. However, the food just wasn't enjoyable last time. The cheese in the salad just tasted a bit off, and the clams were not fresh, so I would recommend steering away from the clams. The other disappointment was that the marinara sauce in 3 dishes is juts thick pasty sauce that tastes too much like eating tomato paste straight out of a can. There is not enough balance with crushes tomatoes or tomato sauce and other ingredients to offsite the heavy tomato paste texture and taste. This place has high potential to be a great legit old school American Italian joint, but there is a bit more work needed in the quality of the ingredients and recipes. They also need to take more care not to burn food items. Just need bit more love and attention from the kitchen here. The front of the house rocks it. read more
