My son just turned 21 and he wanted to have a drink to celebrate his birthday. Many years ago, I once came here for a drink with some good friends, so I decided to choose here to celebrate my son's birthday. It was a bit disappointing that the booking system through OpenTable didn't work well with this location. For some reason, the staff wasn't even aware that they had been on Open Table, and thus they didn't even know that we had a reservation. Luckily, it was a weekday evening where there were plenty of space for us. The staff was very friendly, attentive, and polite. The manager even came out to apologize for the reservation through OpenTable issue. We ordered drinks and some food, and the manager also offered us dessert for free to honor my son's birthday. We decided to have an early New Year celebration at Cypress Lounge. I celebrated my 50th birthday and was excited to see that they survived Covid. Remembering have great my experience was, I was excited to return. The ambiance is still warm and inviting. We got a table right in front of the fireplace. The hostess was very friendly and not invasive. Sadly, the food was MEH . Their calamari was very salty, my husband got the chicken sliders which was equally salty. Maybe the same batter. This is a hideout spot on the middle of DT Bellevue I am a bit hesitant to reveal (). I like hip, chick establishments too, but majority of them have high ceilings with no to very little sound-absorbing materials. They are super cool to our eyes, but seldom makes it difficult to carry a good convo with your company (hard to hear one another as sounds travel so many directions with concrete walls, floors, and high ceilings...!). Here comes Cypress - a perfect quiet spot with carpeted floor (sound absorbing materials, yay!) , a cozy gas fireplace, and comfy chairs. It is not facing Bell Way (so it stays quiet) but South facing windows bring in plenty of daylights (they will have patio seating open soon). This is a tranquil sanctuary where you can relax and have a good time catching up with your friends and loved ones. Food/drink options may not be as grandeur as the steakhouses nearby, but we enjoyed some glass of bubbles, wine, and appetizers. I personally loved their hummus where they had baked chickpeas and seeds on top - other items (calamari, shishito peppers) were also yummy. Staff are very pleasant and friendly too. read more

I have fond memories of this place from when we stayed at Westin in November 2022 while visiting family. This restaurant is located inside Westin, so we had breakfast from here all the 3 days we were staying here. We ordered from the menu...there was a sheet which you fill up to customize the eggs - the way you want it, toppings etc. I don't usually eat eggs, but this is the only place where I enjoyed egg omelettes with toppings like sun dried tomatoes and mushrooms! Great atmosphere. Quiet so you can actually have decent conversation with your party. Good was amazing! Ordered some small plates to begin with. Chicken wings and fries were delicious but the Artichoke chicken Flatbread was Devine! Our party had the lemongrass chicken as an entrée and that was his. The salmon was juicy and the steak was cited to perfection. Drinks were strong and good as well. Only drawback? You're just gonna have to wait a good 30 mins for all of them to arrive! Although it wasn't a busy night, the kitchen was pretty backed up and everything was behind. Pandemic issues are real and is unfortunate that the servers have to work extra hard to please everyone. While I haven't frequented Cypress in the evening, I have come here for the breakfast buffet a few times. The space is nice and there's actually a large selection of hot/cold foods available, along with a made to order omelette station. Service is attentive and it's just a quick/convenient place to drop in when we're feeling too lazy to make breakfast at home. This is not a wine bar. It's a cookie cutter hotel bar with corporate drones everywhere. Service at the bar was somewhere between inattentive and rude. The wine list was a joke. Breakfast is excellent here! The server Jon Jon is the best. He is always the sweetest when we come. We love to stay here multiple times a year and always come for the breakfast buffet. The prices are great too for the selection you get if very fresh and tasty food. The last visit we had dinner here as take out. The server was really friendly that we dealt with however the food was ok. The price was super high for kids meals. Double the price of what I would have thought it would be. Double dipping downgrade. The stars aligned to give me the most perfect imperfect happy hour. Imagine... A long, dreary, stressful day. Finally, it's quitting time and starving to the point that the stomach is roaring and in pain. The first place on the mind, Cypress, good ol' Cypress inside of the Westin, yea, that's the ticket. An hour of fighting traffic to get to downtown Bellevue, thinking about how satisfying a great HH would finish the night. I finally arrive and only not too busy, probably 20% occupied with patrons. The server takes my order. I get my water pretty promptly but then 10 mins go by, 15, 20, then at the 30 min mark, I had to get up and ask for my freakin' food. The manager seemed to care and told me it'll be right out. Five mins later, the food does come out! Eh, maybe they are short-handed tonight so it takes longer I thought. The food looks good so I start munching: Crab cakes: just as I remembered it, but a bit lukewarm. Mini burgers: Cold bread and meat. Yuck. I place that aside, angry but went on to the next dish, dying for sustenance..... Manila Clams: Again, not warm at all and most of them were sandy!! Argh!! Bruschetta: No one can mess this one up, right? WRONG!! The toppings tasted like they just came out of a refrigerator! Bread base soggy to make matters worse. My theory here is that someone dropped the ball and did not pick up my order from the counter for at least 10-12 mins causing the food to drop in temperature, then was eventually fetched. Disgusted, I brought up yet another complaint to the server about this mess and thankfully they didn't charge me for the nasty meal I waited 35 mins for. Grabbed my stuff and left for Din Tai Fung (DTF) and never looked back. What a change from my first visit, so disappointed and swearing in my head all the way to DTF. read more

Tried happy hour here for the first time and I'm quite impressed with the menu! half off appetizers and small bites so everything was around $5-7. This is inside the Westin hotel in Bellevue and opens at 5pm other wise it's closed after 2. I highly recommend the chicken wings/drumsticks here because they give you generous amounts of buffalo/ranch sauce to dip them in. The portions are generous but I didn't enjoy the ahi tuna here. The taste of it was lacking and pieces were cut small and slightly overcooked. Presentation and service of the food was nice though! read more

A hidden gem tucked in the Westin with the most genuine staff! Enticed by the HH sign, I swayed the friends to give this place a try. The Baked Pear Julep- a must try. The mezcal infused iced slowly added a flare to each sip. You know it's great when you close your eyes, smile & get giddy. Food... sadly my mouth was faster than my camera. Not featured but highly commendable is the Farmers Salad- That lemon vinaigrette!! Give me the recipe please! But TBH try it all. I definitely will be back to! I'm hard pressed to remember a place that fell off at a higher rate. They used to offer a great promotion for yelp users, but it's since gone away. I feel the staff has been impacted at an unfair level by "management." Talented people working the bar, but totally handcuffed by an awful manager. Here's a helpful tip to management, don't have someone in a leadership position that doesn't comprehend the menu, wine list and overall environment in a position of "authority." As a platinum Starwood member who's fiercely loyal, my candid opinion is as follows: Cypress is made exceptional by their staff, but the sinking anchor their manager puts on them cripples the entire restaurant. I can't say I'm excited about the food served at this restaurant. All the items on the menu are just OK. You do get a discount for checking in through yelp. I've been on nights they've had live music which is a nice touch but not that important to me. If you're just having wine and want a low key place to chill this is a nice place for that. They have a fireplace which is really nice for those colder months. Fairly private and romantic. Parking is plentiful at Lincoln Square but the lounge itself is tucked away and not that easy to find -- inside the Westin Hotel. read more

Amazing happy hour prices! Butter Manila clams and crab cakes are served hot - never too salty or too bland. Truffle fries are a hit or miss - they're burned mine more than once. I've tried everything on the dessert menu and nothing is special i.e. go elsewhere for better dessert. I ordered their pork belly once, which came with the perfect velouté sauce and delicious mushroom risotto cake; too bad the pork belly itself was a little too hard that I had trouble cutting them. Very smart of Cypress to have a fireplace, especially since Seattle is cold and rainy almost all year round. Ask to sit at the booths by the fireplace if you can! What could be better than escaping the Northwest rain to crackling fire, wine, and cheese (though not French)? They also have outdoor seating for summer months, though I tend to avoid that since the wait staff do not check on the outdoor tables as often (and because I don't want my hair all messed up by the wind :D). One tip is not to get their breakfast on a Sun morning on a typically checkout day---30 min for room service, and even 15 min. for a table of 2. Your typical hotel breakfast food, though have to say their waffles were surprisingly fresh, as pic shows. But wouldn't recommend to waiting in line, that's for sure. And for my starhot rate, 50% isn't too shabby. But has to be billed to your room, so clever. It's like spending money without taking any room on your credit card lol, Located inside Westin. Very disappointed at your rib eye steak. $38 for a piece of bland, inedible medium rare piece. Fried oysters for $12 (3 almost well done pieces), no thanks. Side of salad came with a piece of saran wrap under the plate... why? No quality control? Your service lacks, but your music choice (hiring Tessarosa band) will be the only thing that will bring me back to your place. How sad... Please let the servers know that it is unprofessional to be massaging each other on the hallway (even if they can't see their customers), the customer may walk back to get your attention for the inedible food and lack of service... I hope you can make an improvement. You have a nice location, but Food and service is key. It is not good enough to bring your customers back without a good band. I want to like it here, I really do. My partner and I had our first date here and keep going back near our anniversary every year for the nostalgia and it's just not worth it anymore. The service is slow. Glacially so. Even just to get a drink (two glasses of wine at our last attempt) it was almost fifteen minutes from the time we placed or order to when we were served--at 9pm on a Tuesday when there were maybe 5 other tables seated (and already eating). The appetizers have gone down in quality as well--it really tastes more like hotel bar food than anything else. There appears to be some miscommunication between the Westin front desk and the Cypress Lounge. About a month ago, I was looking to check out the Cypress Lounge for happy hour. However I noticed on the Westin's website that the lounge was under construction and that it may be closed during certain times during that week. So, before heading to the restaurant I called ahead to see if it was open. I was assured that it would be open like normal for happy hour. When arrived, the restaurant was closed for construction. Tonight, I was looking at the happy hour menu and noticed that it said all day happy hour Saturday and Sunday (http://assets.westinbellevuehotel.com/lps/assets/u/Westin_Bellevue_Cypress_Food2013.pdf). However on the restaurant website listed Saturday's HH hours as 4:30 to 7. Since there was a discrepancy, I decided to call ahead just to make sure that it was happy hour. When I called, the person at the front desk confirmed that yes, it was Saturday, so there was all day happy hour. We arrived at the lounge at 8:15 and were informed that it was NOT happy hour. Our server was apologetic and offered to comp an appetizer, but we just decided to head to John Howie's after a drink. I feel a little bad for giving two stars considering I haven't even tried anything here, but to call ahead on two separate occasions and be told that the restaurant was open and that there was happy hour when there really wasn't is pretty disappointing. The pulled pork sliders with blue cheese is just a terrible idea. Try adding something pickled or horse radish, the way God intended. We had a couple of Saturday dinners and wine downs here with a larger group. Not full service dinner but more of small plates and drinks. The food is just passable as in any hotel bar and lounge. The drinks are ok too. There are some good specials on food during the every day Happy Hour which runs from 4 PM to 7 PM. Not much of a happy hour for drinks though as the house wine is still pricey at $7 during happy hour. There are some special happy hour cocktails on the menu too, but the regular menu prices are not too different. The ambience is upscale casual and in the winter it's nice to be seated near the fireplace. The couple of times our group was there on Saturday evenings from 7 PM until close, our server Manoj, was attentive and very patient with our multiple separate checks. The ambience and service was 4 stars but food was 3 stars (Kobe beef sliders came a bit cold, drinks were just ok) and overall I would give it 3.5 stars. Definitely a nice place to just hang out with a friend. I believe they have live music on Fridays but I've never gone during that time. I've been told by friends there is no cover charge during live music nights. Update: This place is a regular haunt now and I've been here at least 6-7 times this year. They recently changed their small plates menu and there is no more happy hour but an expanded selection available all times for a little more. Looking for a place for a drink on Christmas Day, I ended up at the new Westin Hotel in Bellevue, which is gorgeous. Cypress is the lounge/bar which is right off the lobby, and decor is very modern yet subdued. Think of natural rock, muted colors, and a fireplace. Large windows overlook the street for people watching, or in this case, the rain. The menu had some nice updated choices like chile glazed wings, but the real draw was the wine. OK, it isn't cheap, with many wines in the $15 to $20 per glass. But there were some real nice selections like the Ethos line from Chateau Ste. Michelle, which totally puts to shame their regular wines. Service was attentive, but then again, we were the only patrons after awhile. Overall, a great place for a drink to escape the hustle and bustle of Bellevue Square, away from the shoppers and chain restaurants. read more

A nice little suprise of a place tucked away in the lobby of the Westin Hotel/Bellevue. As seen in the the previous review of this place, if your looking for a place to kick up your heals and maybe have a cold one and a snack out on the town during a major holiday, this is a very good option! I am not a huge booze hound, so admittedly, I cannot truly comment on the quality of alcoholic beverages in this place. There is an rather extensive wine collection which makes up the bulk of the menu. The interior has a modern feel, nice comfy seating. I would opt to sit in the seats by the faux fire place which faces some rather large windows. Good for people watching and the like. There is rather small flat screen t.v. in the corner, definitley not the place to go to watch the big game! The food menu features some light dining small plate options, usually I end up with dessert which has always been good. There isn't a 'snarky' attitude in sight whether you are just getting a diet coke to justify the nice comfy seat. Service has always been spectacular. Got to love that Westin hospitality! read more
