Well, it was time for my first fitting, and I officially haven't seen my dress in a year! My appointment was scheduled for 5:30PM on a weekday, and it seemed a bit hectic when I arrived with my mother and sister a half hour before. I was asked multiple times if I was the bride and what time my appointment was. I assured them that I knew I was early, and would obviously wait until the prior appointments were done. They told me to take off my coat and take a seat until I could go upstairs to try on my gown. I did as I was instructed, and I waited. 5:39PM I was heading up the stairs with my family following behind me. We went into the fitting room exactly at the top of the stairs, where there was a square pedestal, and two full length walled mirrors. Nothing fancy, and nothing run down; it was a pretty understated dressing room. The woman helping me was being very insistent on me wearing a slip skirt under my gown to give it more poof, but I explained that I am not the princess type, and I wanted to keep it A-lined. Again, multiple times she insisted, and I remained firm. Then, at last once I had the gown on, I said I would try on the skirt underneath to see what the fuss was all about. We were first told it was $140, and then she said it was $150, and she showed us the bag that the skirt was in. I was a little uncertain at first, but everyone makes mistakes. So, since my gown did have bead work at the bottom of the lining, the skirt did what it was supposed to do. The store owner said, "She's not supposed to look like herself; she's special for the day." I agree with the special part, but I don't want to look like a princess if that wasn't my "vision." These women are old-school Italian. If you are not used to this, you will of course hate this experience from the start. They have been in the business for years, and talk to you like a granddaughter or niece. They will not flatter you if you do not look flattering, and I appreciate the brutal honesty. I know alot of these reviews were complaining about alterations pricing. Alterations are FREE for the bride. I am getting my gown taken in at the bust, but at no extra cost! They ordered the correct size for me, and it fit like a glove. The ladies here were so incredibly nice! I had purchased a wedding dress from another store and was unhappy with the alterations. With only about 2 weeks to my wedding the fixed the dress perfectly! Absolutely loved the way the bustle came out. Would highly recommend for their service, results, and pricing. The other dress store had charged me double for half the work! I can't recall how I came across Angel's Bridal on Instagram, but I'm so happy I did. To be honest, I was initially more excited for my bridal appt @ Kleinfeld. However, I left Manhattan feeling defeated. At the other boutique, most dresses were either out of my budget or couldn't be tried on due to my size (12/14). I had the complete opposite experience @ Angel's. I could literally try on EVERY dress as their sample sizes don't come in model's measurements & their BEAUTIFUL bridal gowns fit into my budget. The selection of dresses I tried on was honestly more beautiful than what I was offered at Kleinfeld & for a much lower price. I was helped by consultant, Debbie, & manager, Rosanna. They were both sweethearts, incredibly helpful & attentive. I was so afraid that I'd have a "lesser experience" wedding dress shopping during COVID, but the customer service was unmatched! They made my experience wonderful for me and my family members present! They don't overbook appointments, I didn't feel rushed to find a dress before time ran out on my appt, & I almost felt like we had the shop to ourselves. I tried on 5 dresses & loved each one more than the last! They listened to all of my feedback & I finally said 'YES' to an AMAZING dress that incorporated all of the things I loved! The customer service in this place is a complete joke. The two sales women working with us were completely unhelpful and rude to a point things got awkward. What's worse, I think one was the owner, named Mary Anne. We called ahead to make an appointment and were prompt. We discussed with them what I was looking for. We discussed budget, location etc. All of their questions had a snide, pretentious tone. I only stayed because I thought it might be in my head and I wanted to support a local business. I can not say enough GOOD things about this Bridal Salon. After going to multiple stores and not finding my daughter her dream wedding gown we arrived Angels Bridal and were greeted by 2 wonderful salespeople. We explained what my daughters vision was and within minutes they began pulling dresses for her try on . They really took there time and listened to what she wanted and also encouraged her to try on other styles to see how she felt in them . My daughter wound up finding her dream dress , which was something she NEVER would have even tried on .The selection of Headpieces and Veils is unbelievable . I do not recommend this place. They were semi-polite in customer service until they were not. At fitting the seamstress asked my daughter multiple times "are those the shoes you are wearing with the bridesmaid dress." After replying yes each time and biting my tongue to not argue with this women my daughter asked me if she kept asking because she thought her shoes were ugly. My daughter is 12. Then I had the dress picked up since we do not live in staten island only to find that the dress was hemmed unevenly. The back was fine but the front was way off. The person I spoke with did say she would fix it but it can only be done on certain days which did not work for us so I suggested since I would have to pay 2x for the toll/gas to go out of my way for their mistake would she mind giving me a partial credit back so I can fix it locally (I offered to send pics of dress and proof that I had the dress re-hemmed) and that's where her attitude started. She does not know a thing about customer service and also stated that in over 20yrs of using that seamstress she has never once encountered a problem insinuating nothing was wrong with the dress. Originally, I found my MOB dress at another salon. The salesperson tried to sell me a size 10. I am a 2. I walked out, went on-line, and read that Angel's Bridal carries that designer. My dress was not in their store but they looked in the manufacturer's catalog and found it! They also pointed out that the gown came in many colors, not just the color I first saw. I was measured, picked a color, and the dress arrived in 6 weeks. A few inexpensive alterations and it fit perfectly. The dress was so comfortable though out the entire wedding. I have been a bridesmaid several times in the past few years; therefore, I have bought all my bridesmaid dresses from here [requested by the bride] I have mixed feelings. The place is beautiful inside and they have nice things, however sometimes the staff is a tad snooty. But then sometimes they're nice. Weird. They charge an arm and a leg for alterations, and they advise you to buy your dress a size bigger [so they can charge you even more for alterations]. Like I said, I have been a bridesmaid before, so I know what size I am and I know when I can lose a few lbs., if necessary ,without having to pay for alterations. Yet they made my friend buy a plus size dress so they can charge her additional because once you need over a size 14 (I think), the dresses are more expensive. Also you can only pay with a credit card for deposits. They would not let me pay for my final payment. Inconvenient? Yes. read more

The store has a pretty large selection of bridal gowns, bridesmaid and Mother of the Bride dresses. The prices I would say are average. The bridesmaid gowns are priced higher then other places I found. They do have a great selection of mother of the bride dresses in all price ranges. The reason I didn't purchase my gown from here was because I have read bad reviews about this store on other sites so it just made me hesitant. Plus, I felt I could get better prices and better selections, at least for wedding gowns and bridesmaid dresses, elsewhere. They also didn't carry the desigenrs I was looking into. The sales people, though they were nice, seemed a tad pushy and the "oooohhh, aaa, you look so gorgeous, the dress is made for you" about every single girl that came out was overkill for me. I went in to look at MOB dresses and the woman stood there the entire time hovering over us, going on and on about each dress that we touched. Somehow the saleslady picked out a dress for me- the first dress I tried on- that I ended up buying for my wedding gown. I tried on a few more after that but the salespeople were honest if it didn't look as good on me. I never felt rushed or pressured. I thought the prices were reasonable. Its not going to be as cheap as Davids Bridal but the quality and selection is so much better. Expect to spend around 1-2K. Also the prices include any cost of alterations so you won't be paying any extra. It wont be as expensive as Klienfelds. Nothing in the store is more than 3K (I think). My dress price came in well under my budget which allowed me to splurge on Jimmy Choo heels. I went back again to get a hair piece and they have a good selection. You get 10% off if you got your dress there. Its worth doing that because I was able to put on the floor sample of the dress and try on hair pieces with it. Good thing I did that because the hair piece I liked on the shelf ended up not going well with the dress. I had my hair trial appointment the next week and my hair piece wasn't in yet from the manufacturer, and they let me borrow the floor sample to take with me to my appointment so I can see how it will look in my hair! Also I live in Dallas and they were helpful when trying to coordinate things with coming back for fittings. The owner/seamstress reminds me of my plump Italian grandma who isn't yelling, shes just talking, and calls everyone cookie. She told us that she studied at fashion institute and used to design dresses, so I believe she knows what she is doing. read more

I had a positive and very nice experience at this place. I was able to get an appointment right away to look at headpieces and other accessories. The dresses they have are ridiculously beautiful. They also had so many different headbands it was so overwhelming to choose one. I loved that they had a variety. The staff was very helpful. The lady who helped me was very patient and helped me look through all the pieces. They informed me of the sales and the trunk show they were going to have. Loved it here. After my trip to Kleinfeld's I was starting to worry that finding a dress was gong to be way harder than I initially anticipated. They made it effortless at Angel's. I only tried on one other dress before putting on the dress that I knew was the one. They gave me great feed back and matched me with the perfect veil and headpiece. My fittings all went smooth and I was overall happy with the services they provided (all alterations were included ) The one thing that I will say about Angel's is i loved working with the ladies there. I'm not one to write a review and bash a company but this is most certainly a company that needs it. The way they speak and down grade women is no way a business should be ran, especially a bridal company. For starters they ordered every single brides maid dress to small and then claimed they took it out but then took it out on all the wrong places. For example my bust needed to be brought in and my waist needed to be brought out. I'm almost positive they did it the other way around because I couldn't sit and I was able to fit another person in the bust area. I can't even begin to explain the discomfort I felt the entire night along all the other bridesmaids. Now let's get to how they speak to their clients, they told me not to go on the college girl diet if I wanted to fit into my dress. ( don't eat or drink alcohol) now let me mind you I'm a very fit girl to begin with and I don't have problems fitting into anything. Now let's go to how they spoke to my sister in law, the bride. Your wonderful seamstress thought my sister in law ( the bride) DIDNT know Italian. Well jokes on your rude ass...your seamstress decided to say in Italian to her coworkers " look at this 26 years old and her boobs are to the ground." Yes an employee said this about the bride in another language. Thank god my sister addressed it and the seamstress responded " I didn't know you spoke Italian." That's the first thing out of your mouth? Not even an apology, disgusting. For a company that is not cheap and well known you sure don't know how to treat your clients. The ladies working that place are rude and selfless and are just there to collect your money. Do yourself a favor and go to a place that won't talk shit about you or even downgrade you to your face. I'm sorry to say that my experience there was a horror! I had originally ordered a dress from there and left a deposit. I also purchased a veil and comb for my hair. A few days later I found another dress and returned to the store.....not for a refund but to cancel the dress and use the deposit for my veil and accessories. When I went to pick up the veil and comb I stated that the comb they APPARENTLY ordered was missing all the stones in it and I didn't want it. I was told to pick another comb and I would have to pick another one from the samples in the store. Due to the fact that there were only a few combs I was forced to buy at comb that resembled a crab with two big rhinestones in the middle and six things that looked like legs on it. I will never use it and no one out there in the universe would pay almost $100 for it. Obviously, I would be careful before purchasing anything at this store! read more

My fiance and I walked into this place a few months ago with out an appointment. I told the lady I want to look/try on wedding dresses. She said well when are you getting married? I said two years from now. She said come back when you know exactly. I'm like its not like I'm going to waste your time I want to look around. She said and who is he I said this is my fiance. Then she says well its bad luck for him to see you in your dress. I said its stupid stuff that stupid people make up I dont belive that saying. If you love the person, seeing you in a dress isnt going to bring bad luck. I said I need him here. She looked at me and walked away. I looked around took notes on dresses and left. Two gowns purchased here, two terrible experiences. (I'm also curious as to how they managed to have all their other terrible reviews hidden/filtered, so be sure to check out the filtered reviews too). As I said to someone recently - I don't review every place I go to. I try to keep my criticism constructive here on Yelp, and when I'm unhappy with something, I tend to not post, unless some aspect of my experience was seriously upsetting. In this case, Angel's Bridal has earned my 1 star review. Most recently, I ordered a dress for my cousin's wedding. When we were trying dresses on, I had on the size 12 sample, which fit PERFECTLY, except for the top three inches of the dress, where I couldn't zip it (by a fairly slim margin - had I been in a department store, I probably would have reached for a 14 or 16 and solved the problem). When all was said and done, after I was measured, the staff ordered me a size 24 dress, charging me $40 extra for the plus size. When I questioned this, pointing out that I was currently WEARING a size 12 that needed very little help to fit PERFECTLY, I was told that this is the size my measurements said I was. (Oddly, I just wore a different gown from the same designer and 16 fit me perfectly, with zero alterations except for a hem). Well, not surprisingly, when my size 24 dress came in, it was large enough for me to slip on over my clothes without unzipping, and fell down, with enough room for a second person inside it with me. When I complained, I was told this was my fault, and that I had lost weight. A quick check of my recorded measurements showed that this was not the case. I reminded the owner of the argument we had when I ordered the dress and how I had insisted on a smaller size and she said no: she continued to insist that this dress was MY SIZE and I could "argue all I want, but I'm a size 24 and I need to deal with that number". (As I'm standing in front of her WEARING a size 24, over jeans and a sweater, and the straps came down to my navel and the skirt started somewhere around mid thigh) Now, during this argument I hadn't come in for a fitting - I came in to see if a new dress could be ordered, but the owner insisted on pinning it for tailoring, then rushed through the job. Any woman who's had a dress altered knows you need to bring the shoes and undergarments, and I didn't have them with me, which I told her. She berated me for that, ignoring that I didn't want to be pinned up and was just showing her how large the dress was. Well. I decided to see how she was going to get this giant dress turned into a dress that can fit me. It was a nightmare. She kept telling me that I would have to just "trust her and wait to see the finished product" when I pointed out that parts were pinned oddly or incorrectly, and told me I didn't know what I was looking at. The "v" of the neckline was coming to a point below my left ear instead of in the center of my cleavage, and the top of the dress was horribly off-kilter and out of shape and alignment. When I pointed to the picture of the dress on the tag to show where it was wrong, she informed me that "altering a dress this large, it will never look perfect". I gave up after she jabbed me in the chest multiple times with her finger and told me that I'm "endowed and God knows that makes it hard to fit someone in the first place". I found that incredibly rude and offensive. She took serious offense to my telling her to quit poking at me, saying I was being unreasonable. By comparison, when my usual seamstress pinned the dress, with the exception of giant flaps of fabric that needed to be cut off, the dress looked exactly how it's supposed to (and with the benefit of no finger poking or getting yelled at!). Angel offered to do the alterations for $50, then called the next day and offered to do them for free, including the hem, but after the horrible pinning, I could never trust this place with this job. Instead, I paid a LOT more for someone else to do it, because I knew the job would be done properly. And on my first trip there, for a different wedding, my dress was ordered two sizes too small. My miracle seamstress went to work, and by stealing fabric from the hem, skillful additions of darts and tiny elastic gussets and moving the zipper, she was able to make it juuust big enough for me to zip. Of course, Angel's took no responsibility for that either, falling back on their apparent regular scapegoat "your size must have changed". Make sure they record your size and check you again when you pick up your dress, so they can't trap you with this. Better yet - just stay away from these rude people with their kitchen next to the alterations room, bad attitudes, and shady ordering practices. I'm sure my $40 "plus size" charge went towards the fish dinner they were cooking while I was being pinned.. Who has a kitchen in a bridal salon anyway? read more

Terrible Experience! I am a professional and a business woman on Staten Island. No one has ever treated me this way. I purchased a dress. When it came in it needed alterations. The same staff that was so nice to me upon purchase was now rude and talked about me right in front of me!! I was unhappy with the alterations and they refused to help me further!! When I said the dress was too open one sales girl made fun of me and mocked me! I was so upset I started to cry!! They walked out of the dressing room to eat in another room and left me there crying! They couldn't care less!! Both the owner AND the daughter were there and they were not helpful AT ALL!! I can not wear the dress. I was just recently in a bridal party and the dress she chose was from Angel Bridal on Staten Island. When we went there to pick out a dress in the first place, a lady who helped us find a dress to the brides liking, told us to go someone cheaper for the same dress. We were very confused but Angel Bridal matched the price after we called and complained about it & they even through in alterations. But when the dresses came in they started charging the girls for alterations anyway! The bride complained numerous times to angel bride that they owe us back money because they charged us& on the contract clearly stated that alterations were included. On a fitting I had, the lady was actually sneakily adding things to our contracts but of course I brought my original copy so it made no difference. During my first fitting, the alteration lady, took a scissor to adjust the length of my dress! What seamstress does that?!?!?! No pin or powder .... Just a scissor! Not even a ruler or measuring tape. Needless to say the dress was completely off and not straight, the layers of the dress were all separate lengths! There was also an issue with the straps, we could add spaghetti straps but for me they were easy, it snapped right it, had a hook. The other girls needed a slight adjustment and angel bridal claimed it was an"advanced" alteration and deciding to charge 40$!!! Always trying give us the run around, the staff was rude and unhelpful! I don't even know how they can remain in business. Angel's Bridal is a SCAM. They order dresses two sizes two big and then charge you for alterations, then switch the tags on smaller dresses in order to charge you an arm and legs WHEN NO ALTERATIONS HAVE BEEN MADE. My mother who is a seamstress said an alteration from a 14 to a 10 would be very noticeable, and there is nothing there, no cuts, nothing. They not did this to me, but they did the same thing to my sister who was in a bridal party a year ago. My mother has been sewing professionally for over 30 years so I know she knows what she is talking about. I thought I would share this with the Staten Island community. Try "Always a Bridesmaid" instead if you must shop on Staten Island. I was going to go back and complain, but I thought this would be more effective. read more

I had a great experience at angels bridal I was able to find my wedding dress my head piece and my bridesmaid dresses there, the ladies there were very helpful especially Deb I told her what I was looking for and she set me up with dresses and the one I picked happened to b the 4th one I tried on and I was sold she also helped picked out my head piece which was absolutely beautiful!! My The bridesmaid dresses I found on Pinterest and they had the exact one in the store, everyone was very helpful from alterations and patience it was a pleasure I also had Angela help me get dressed the morning of which I was very happy cause the dress was tie back and I need assistance with having it put together just rite I definitely insist on coming here and checking this place out it was really helpful to me and made me and my bridesmaids look beautiful I'm so thankful for them to make my day special read more

If you plan on actually wearing a wedding dress to your wedding, don't order from here. My sister placed her deposit and order in November 2015 with an estimated arrival of May 2016. It's now August with no dress in sight. In fact, the shop never even called her back and totally ignored her. They completely left her in the dark with no wedding dress with less than two months before her wedding. They sure had no problem holding her money but didn't bother ordering her gown. I'm not sure how this place is still in business but in typical Staten Island fashion, they offer a service but make you feel like they're doing YOU a favor by letting purchase from their shop. read more

If you want to get ripped off, by all means please use Angels. I have been in 2 weddings that used this store and I was dissatisfied both times. The most recent time- after I was measured they told me they needed to order an "extra large size" and therefore charge me more. Playing off my insecurities I said okay- when the dress was ready it was 4 sizes too big (and mind you I have not lost any substantial weight). In addition to that, they insisted that the balance was only accepted in cash, which i find very strange considering that we all put the deposits down on our cards, it then occurred to me that the actual prices of our gowns was about half what we paid. We came to this store to pick out bridesmaids dresses for a number of girls. While the saleslady was quite nice, I wish I could say the same about the owner with regard to her level of customer service. From belittling her employees in front of our group and other customers, to insulting a member of our group, to completely balking at the idea that buying a number of dresses for a group of bridesmaids could be discounted all the while being completely nasty throughout the entire process. I have read the negative reviews on this page and cannot believe this is the same store I purchased my gown at... From the moment I walked in; I felt very welcomed by all the staff... who are all peaches by the way!!! My first appointment with my fabulous consultant Debbie, was amazing!!! I never felt rushed or pressured to buy anything.... I went alone to get some ideas of what I liked first before sharing with my family members...my every vision was carefully listened to...and she was ready and eager to assist me in choosing (the perfect dress)... which of course i had no idea what i wanted so I tried on all types until I found the style and texture i loved...which god bless her; she was very patient with me.... At my first fitting, I was alil undecided about a veil that I had ordered and when i brought it to their attention, they immediately wisked me away to help me find another... even though it was a month before my wedding... A second problem, which I bestowed upon myself!!! was that I purchased shoes I had to have because they were stunning!!! However, too high for the dress I had custom ordered according to my size heel I had on the day I placed my order...... I was so pleased to see that The staff was so helpful in thinking of ways to alter the dress to perfection... so my shoes could be saved from being cut down... I have had nothing but superb service at this bridal shop! and would reccomend to anyone who would want such an attentive and professional crew to assist them in finding the gown of their dreams...and making sure their wedding dress shopping experience is a spectacular one!!! Walked into angels bridal to look for a wedding gown and was treated like family there!! Roseanne was amazing! She selected gowns from a picture I was looking for and I found ' the one' I ended up getting all my bridesmaid dresses there as well!!! Great selection, great prices and great customer service! I felt terrible for my Bestfriend who found her dress here. Originally she had a great experience, although staff was a bit pushy.. they were nice and helpful. She purchased her dress and was thrilled, until they charged her an insane amount for alterations ($800) when all she needed was the dress to be taken in, spaghetti strap added and the flowers to be tacked down. No hem was needed, and no additional alterations. That's insane. The WORST part about this was that the morning of her wedding she tried her dress on and realized they NEVER TOOK IT IN OR TACKED DOWN THE FLOWERS! She cried the entire morning of her wedding and had to pick her dress up every two seconds. She had emergency spaghetti straps that ultimately saved her, but it wasn't the look she wanted, nor what she paid A LOT of money for. This is not acceptable and now that I'm planning my wedding for August I will 100% NOT get my dress, or bridesmaid dresses here. She also originally found our bridesmaid dresses elsewhere and to give them the business she ordered through them in which they reminded us EVERYTIME we went what a pain it was to order these dresses and how they did US such a favor... umm, NO we found our dresses elsewhere and for cheaper...and decided to give YOU (small business) the money and our business. read more

Thank you to the staff of Angel's Bridal. My mother purchased the first gown I tried on- it was a beautiful, vintage princess gown. I come from an Italian family with strong women, so I was able to get along well with the women who work here. They are blunt, but loving and welcoming. Also, my mother hired Angela to come to our house the day of the wedding to dress me and she came to the Church to fluff my gown. All in all, it was a memorable experience. AWFUL costumer service !!!! Very nasty & rude. We went as a bridal party for our fittings and they were writing the wrong measurements on the wrong person's invoice. They were completely unhelpful. Then, when my bridesmaid dress came in I went to try it on and they rushed me saying they were closing in 10 minutes. It was 3:50pm on a Wednesday. When I got home I tried it again and realized it was damaged. I called a few days later and they did not want to hear it!!! EXTREMELY nasty and said there was nothing they can do about it and could not order me a new one. I would never recommend this place to anyone!!!! Horrible experience!!!! read more

Horrible! I went there with my bridesmaids to try dresses and found 2 I loved. The dresses were 215-230...plus tax and alterations are from $45 and up....I found the dresses elsewhere for almost $100.00 cheaper. I received three phone calls now from the staff there asking where I bought my dresses from and then they called the distributor asking if the stores I mentioned carry their line! One of the phone calls I received was from the owner....while I was at work and after I already told them to never call me again. Just rude....should've paid attention to the reviews prior to even walking in this chop shop. The owner kept telling me she was in business for 35 years and blah blah blah...I don't know how because she is a very poor business woman. read more
