A very quaint place to visit. There were not very many tables, but they were always occupied. The food came on a very hot plate and it was very tasty. They relleno were probably the best dish. We each ordered one along with another main course like enchilada or tostada. Their salsa is homemade and tasted pretty good. Would definitely come again. read more

So... my family members that have lived in this area forever have been telling us about Angel's for quite a while now. We finally made it. All 11 of us! A reservation was made well ahead of time and they (the restaurant) suggested the time. We showed up about three minutes early, and they said it would be about five minutes. Fast forward 25 minutes.... Finally we got seated and got water, chips, and salsa. About another 20 minutes pass before our order is taken. Everyone was friendly, but not overly attentive. The food was good. The item that stood out was the chile verde! This was freaking off the hook. I didn't order it, my wife did, and luckily she got too full to finish, so I was able to experience this fantastic product! The restaurant is kept clean, it's pleasantly decorated, and the tables are arranged well. Other than being a little unhappy with the wait, I was not happy to find a 3% extra charge for using a credit card to pay a bill of nearly $300. I didn't have enough cash on hand to pay - but they didn't tell me in advance that there was an extra charge to pay by card so it wouldn't have made a difference. More and more places are doing this. It's really pretty irritating. Anyway, I'm sure we'll be back for that chile verde. I'll just be sure to have plenty of cash on me when I return! read more

I tried both the chicken burrito enchilada style and camarones al mojo de ajo (garlic butter shrimp). The portion sizes are generous. Burrito had decent amount of chicken inside, decked out with sides (rice, sauce, lettuce, etc). If ordering a burrito, I highly recommend enchilada style. The shrimp dish could have used some more garlic, the butter/sauce seemed a bit watery and was not sticking to the shrimp. I appreciate the fact that the shrimp tasted fresh and tails were taken off. I forgot to ask for extra salsas on the side, wish I could have tried them. Atmosphere was lively and Angel plus all staff I spoke with were very friendly and welcoming. Okay, so we've eaten a lot of Mexican food and this is incredibly good food of a very certain California type. Kinda the dream of a cantina, right off a dusty rural road, simple but flavorful and skillfully made food. The ambiance is dim, again, cantina-like, but clearly to keep it cool inside. There was lots of sit-down business for lunch on a Thursday, which was a good omen. The prices were reasonable and the portions were big. The carnitas was quite delicious, not dry or over fried or over salted. The chile relleno was possibly my favorite I've ever had, the best part being that it didn't separate from the breading. Highly recommend for people who appreciate the slightly Americanized cantina plato style food. read more

My friend's family owns this restaurant and for two years I've heard her go on and on about how incredible the food is. I was finally able to try it and she did not tell a single lie-- the food here is cooked with recipes that come from the heart and soul of her family and you can taste the authenticity with each bite. Great little Mexican Restaurant just outside of Lakeport in the wine fields. Great food. I got a 2 taco combo and went with carne asada which was a little extra but worth it. The shrimp dishes were so tough they gave the impression of being cooked shrimp cooked a second time. Beef items were dry and tough, chicken very dry even in sauces. This little find was a great surprise. If it weren't for knowing someone we would have not found it definitely off the main road. This gem is an amazing Mexican Restaurant. Two people in our party don't like this type of cuisine and they were raving about how good it was. Perfectly seasoned and they have been in business for 30 years. We had pork carnitas and a shredded beef burrito enchilada style. They don't have Pico DE gayo, gr beef or flavored margaritas but honestly everything is so good you don't care. I usually like green sauce and hate red forgot to ask if they had green sauce but again the red sauce was better than any green I had ever eaten. No belly aches or gas at the end of the night they cook to perfection and the service was exceptional! Price was right for four people.
