Really poor service here. Upon entering the restaurant, a server made eye contact with me and just walked away. While the food was good, the staff here were not attentive at all. Didn't check up on the table, and were glued on their phones. I had to go to the counter and pay because they were not paying attention at all. I haven't been here for a couple years because the food wasn't very good and the staff was very rude. My bff and me try and meet up often for dinner but haven't been lately because the food in Clearlake just isn't good almost everywhere. We had other plans tonight but they were closed so I drove over to tequilas. As usual the music was blaring loud. I was concerned because we would not of been able to hold a conversation over it. We sat at the bar and the girls were very sweet working there. They overheard us talk about the music and actually turned it off In that area. It was very thoughtful. Micheladas were good, chili verde was good, molajcate (spelt that wrong) was excellent. Only it was missing the cactus. That would of made it 5 star worthy! I'm really glad we came back and will be going back. The food has gotten really good so I'm eager to see if this stays consistent. The little strip mall used to be so dirty and almost all the stores were empty. Not anymore! Looked like a newly thriving little area for Clearlake! read more

It has become a place that serves food that smells like a three day old open can of cat food, the beans served at Tequila's Mexican Grill & Bar seemed to have a lingering taste of moths, and the rice was old and crunchy. It was evident that the restaurant was not following proper hygiene and food safety practices. I had to go to the ER thanks to their lack of care for their customers. read more

I ordered a molcajete, it was more like fajitas. That was not the bad part, the steak was pink and it tasted like ham .... There was also regular steak mixed in there which actually tasted like steak, but the pink, ham-like taste 'steak' definitely threw me off! The service wasn't the best and even though the girls who served me were in high school, that isn't an adequate excuse for why I got my tacos, my appetizer and margarita all at the same time. I also didn't like how I saw plates and used silverware all over the restaurant that wasn't picked up immediately and just left sitting there. As far as the food goes, it wasn't bad but at the same time, I've had much better. The tacos were enjoyable but not spectacular. I was very disappointed with the queso chorizo dip. The dip was very liquidy for a cheese dip and the chorizo pieces were like all attached to each other rather than in pieces. Overall, I found this place to be very mediocre. The customer service could definitely use some improvements and the food was just okay at best. Maybe someday I'll give this place another chance but as of right now, this place definitely could use a number of improvements. read more

Ugh, we were on vacation and craving Mexican food. This was awful. Maybe I ordered wrong but I have never in my life seen a Chimichanga that was essentially a couple of corn tortillas wrapped in meat and drenched in oil. No one should have to wait 1 hour for food when the place is this empty!!!!! It took the girl nearly an hour just to come and ask if we wanted a refill and let us know our food is ALMOST ready. This used to be my go to spot when I lived in clearlake I was visiting and drcided to bring my whole family here tonight for dinner. When we first walked up there was a "cash only" sign on the door. They said their wifi was down. When we walked in from outside where it was 85* it was even hotter inside. I asked if their AC was broken and she responded "I dont know" . the horchata and soda was warm. We had to have her bring cups of ice for all 8 of us. The bean/cheese dip had a film of cheese on top but the beans were cold. I ordered a steak quesidilla and cant speak for everyone else but i could tell the steak was pre cooked (sitting out all day) because it was almost cold and that they added into the cheese quesidilla which was just disgusting. No sour cream or pico or anything on the side. Mexican rice was flavorless and dry and old. Little to no "service" from the girl working. Ive never been more disappointed. And now its only been not even an hour and my stomache is turning. Will not be back! read more

The taquitos are amazing. We've been happy with all the food we have ordered from here. Tortilla soup, burritos, tacos, enchiladas & more. What a wonderful addition to Clearlake! The only thing they could improve on is their margaritas. We tried them once and were unimpressed. Basic margarita mix (neon green) with a splash of tequila. My family and I started going there during the shelter in place. My wife loved the food. When I would go pick up the Togo orders...i loved the layout...was planning on eating there when things opened back up, but come to find out they are adding on tips to the credit cards. Ewwww!! The service was absolutely awful. After waiting for 20 minutes to get our order taken. It was another 15 minutes before the nachos finally made it to the table. The food was cold! After another 20 minutes waiting for the tab, we asked to speak with a manager. After waiting another 10 minutes, the manager never did come to ask what was right/wrong. Only because I am honest, did I leave the approximate amount of money for our bill. Wow, reading the reviews makes me feel like I'm in the wrong place. I've gone there three times and EVERY TIME my food has always been barely warm. The white sauce with the red sauce were cool. (My husband's chile verde was steaming!) To top it off, the waitress was unsanitizing the silverware by grabbing the parts that go on the food and wrapping them in the napkin. She should have only touched the handles. The tea was very diluted. One good comment- the chip salsa is great. read more
