When she mentioned the Kona Salt Farm, I did an internet search and saw the beautiful photos, however, I did have a lot of reservations. Having to research and consider all the vendors that would have to be involved and communicating long distance would be challenging . . . as none of us were from Kona. Jen Hughes at the Salt Farm was very helpful and generous with her vendor information in all categories. One of the best requirements of the Salt Farm, is to have a professional wedding coordinator be present on the day of the event. Ally B of Ally B Inspired responded promptly, and she was a perfect fit, i.e., sweet, patient, accommodating, knowledgeable, and a hard worker determined to ensure a perfect outcome. We were very happy when my niece and her fiancé selected Ally. Ally was contracted to be the on-site coordinator on the day of the wedding. She and Annie executed everything perfectly and more. Leading up to the wedding date, we tried to adhere to the list of duties covered in the contract. She did and offered so much more. Instead of rescheduling, we Facetimed with her braiding her daughter's hair in the car! Now, that's dedication and commitment. We had everything planned out as to who would do what throughout the evening, i.e., relocating furniture, humongous floral arrangements, situating the cake, the sparklers send off, etc. TIP #1 - No matter how reliable and willing, not a good idea to rely on relatives/guests who are invested in being present during the ceremony and the festivities. By the time I thought of the timeline and things that needed to be done, Ally and Annie had taken care of them and so much more. She was truly a godsend. TIP #2 - If you're not from Kona, you won't know all the ins and outs of what's happening currently. Having a local "in-the-know" person was so helpful and a blessing. This was especially true when we tried contacting different vendors through information from their websites only to find out that due to personal issues, certain companies were not operating currently. Also, Ally was able to make great recommendations which were spot on. TIP #3 - Contract Ally B from the get-go to coordinate your ENTIRE wedding. I did it for my niece. If we could do it over again, it'll be Ally B Inspired all the way! It was a dream wedding come true for the couple and an event of a lifetime for all of us. Ally B Inspired made sure of it.

Since it's a smaller boat u can go faster and get maybe closer to the action. The drawbacks compared to a more traditional "ferry" type wld be ferry has bathrooms and comfy seats and shade. This one we did had saddle seats which were ok but comparable to a padded bike seat. Not so comfy for males especially perhaps. If u go, u can bring your own waterbottle, make sure to wear copious amounts of sunscreen and bring more to reapply. I (female) was happy I wore a long sleeved rash guard and long light colored leggings. Can wear any shoe that cld get wet, tho we did not get wet. Could wear sneakers if ur ok if they get somewhat messy. Wish I wore water shoes for the grip and the sun protection bc my feet got so much sun exposure in flip flops and not much grip. We left most of our stuff in the hotel room safe and just brought keys and drivers license. Wish I had brought cash for a tip for the driver and tour guide. Can bring phone for photos. If u are the first to arrive to the dock, you may be able to snag the seats right in front of the driver, which would be the way to get any sort of shade. Wear a hat, preferably with a chin strap or affix a baseball hat to your ponytail (ladies) or flip cap backwards as a guy when the boat goes fast so not lose hat. Wish I had had some more neck protection. Drink water. Reapply sunscreen. You'll be fast then will stop to look around so there's time to stand up, reapply etc. Great and informative narration by Dennis. Captain driver was also great. Wld recommend but again consider your needs for shade, seating, and can't go to the bathroom for three hours. Nice bathrooms at the harbor tho, flushable booklets, water and soap. Hope this helps!

We signed up for both whale watching and the night manta ray snorkel with Hawaiian Adventures Kona;…read moreboth experiences were phenomenal and a MUST-DO if visiting the Big Island! Captain Andrew and Olivia were excellent guides, they had great energy and humor while sharing information about the wildlife. Their boat, the Artemis, is the "Rolls Royce" of whale-watching boats that I've been on; clearly designed for optimal wildlife viewing and passenger comfort. We saw multiple humpback whales, three species of dolphin, and many manta rays during our trips with them. The crew is clearly very knowledgeable about the local wildlife and did a fabulous job finding animals, as well as positioning the boat for viewing them. On the manta ray night snorkel... DO IT! It exceeded my expectations tenfold and I would reckon it's one of the most unique ocean experiences anyone could have. You get to float effortlessly (with a board and pool noodle) while watching these majestic animals feed all around you! The boat is a great platform for this too, as there is a hot water rinse available to you when you get out of the water. I will book trips with this company EVERY TIME I visit Kona in the future! Both experiences were completely awesome and I can't wait to be back.

My niece's destination wedding was held at the Kona Salt Farm in February 2026. I was a guest but also assisted with the planning and coordination as none of us were from Kona. Initially, the plan was to have recorded music with a friend serving as the emcee. Having worked for an entertainment company (not as a performer) I was very happy when the couple decided on hiring a professional DJ instead. Timing is critical on a show, and I got spoiled expecting that in every type of performance/event I attended. Ed provided the sound system and mic'd the groom and officiant for the ceremony while the main set up was in the reception area of the oceanfront sandstone. The bridal couple worked with Ed on the playlist for the ceremony, pupus/hors d'oeuvres reception, dinner and dancing. Not until sunset, did I notice the lighting focused on Ed's set up as well as the "stage/dancing" area. The soft uplighting at the foot of the speakers' stands added such a beautiful ambience to an already incredible setting. Ed is a consummate professional, with a great personality, easy to work with and very accommodating. He kept the entire event in smooth harmony from ceremony, reception, to the couple's sparklers send-off. Everything flowed perfectly, thanks to Ed. Nothing comes to mind when everything's running smoothly. It's only noticeable when there are glitches or uncomfortable pauses. We had none. From the flower girl & boy to the ring bearer, young adults and even seniors, he had the place hopping. It was great seeing everyone having so much fun and enjoying themselves. I can't imagine we would have had the same excitement and light show or expended energy with taped music. The guests did not want the evening to end . . . what more can you ask for? The Good: We hired Betty for our wedding in March of 2020…read morebut had to reschedule due to Covid and she was very flexible in working with us on this. She also did a good job of performing the ceremony once she arrived. The Less Good: We had a wedding on the Hilo side of the island which has spotty service to say the least. Betty was 45 minutes late for our 10am ceremony and this is only because we had to send my uncle to find her lost on the side of the road. Due to spotty service, no one heard from her until I called at 10:15am and come to find out later, she had been calling my wife (the bride) from 10:01am multiple times that she was lost, having a backup phone number would be helpful to prevent this. The place isn't hard to find if you plug it in your phone/GPS prior to losing service, but this and other communication issues definitely lead us to believe there is a struggle with technology. Once she arrived, the ceremony went well and the next lapse in communication ensued. My wife and Betty had exchanged voicemails the day before the wedding after we finished on virtual licensing agent appointment so our marriage certificate could be issued. Betty stated that she had everything ready for the day of the wedding and didn't clarify that we needed to print off our marriage certificate so we were rushing to find a printer after the ceremony which caused more delays and we were not able to sit down to brunch with our guests after the ceremony. Because she performed well at the ceremony, I was initially going to leave a 3 star review. However, we had a friend get married several days after us and we heard that she was late for their wedding as well. Being late to two weddings in the same week is very unprofessional so I can't in good conscious recommend Betty to other couples and if you do book, maybe lie and say your ceremony is earlier so she is on time.

Everything went smoothly, starting from my initial inquiry a few months ago, to the ceremony on the beach. Betty emailed the vows to me and allowed us to customize it anyway we wanted to. We found that what she had written was perfect. She gave us a choice of locations, and offered suggestions such as bringing leis to the ceremony for a Hawaiian lei exchange. Nice touch She showed up a little early, which was great, because we took a few minutes to find the right spot with the sunset in the background. If you are looking for the perfect sunset pictures in the background, I would recommend a 6:45pm start time. I highly recommend Betty, for someone that doesn't want the big production and big cost at one of the hotels.
