We walked into a time warp! 80s wrestling on tv, 50s and 60s music playing on the speakers, old Coke signs on the wall and a framed 8x10 of Kerry Von Erich w/ Iceman King Parsons at the register. They've got an entire back room that looks like someone's grandmas living room from 40 years ago. As cool and interesting as the ambience was, the food was just as amazing. As you might have guessed, it's a themed fancy hot dog restaurant. The dogs themselves are standard sized and delicious I ordered the "Hi Ho Silver" which is topped with cheese, ranch, jalapeño and bacon. My wife has the "Bandstand" which is a chili weiner. Both were served with home fries and both were $4.99. In addition to the weiners, they have burgers, sandwiches and salads. One kiddo ordered the "Wake Up Little Suzy" burger which includes hash browns and a fried egg ON the burger and the other ordered the "Lucy B" salad and they halved it with each other. The owners are a mother-daughter combo and when talking to them (they were very nice) we learned that the cupcakes and lemon bars were also made in house. We also found out why the place has such a goofy name. Seems there's a cartoon from the early 1900s about a "Gentleman Rabbit" called Uncle Wiggily. A relative suggested that as the name, they changed the spelling a little and... BobsYourUncle... restaurant named. I will say the same is perfect. The place is slightly odd, fantastically eccentric and a little goofy. And the food is priced great (family of 4 in and out for under $30) and is delicious. It's totally worth a trip from out of town to Luling just to eat here... and if you're driving through try and time your hunger right. You won't regret it.

As with most fantastic finds,this was an accident. In town next door for BBQ when I saw the sign and decided to check it out. Walked away with the most delicious sourdough Italian loaf I've ever had. Made with Parmesan, Romano, Parmigiana Reggiano, rosemary and other herbs. It was hot out of the over and the aroma was astonishing. I will definitely go back next time I'm in Luling.

I was even able to purchase a bit of their starter! The starter has been so freaking great! I live quite a ways away from them, so this has allowed me to get into my "sourdough era" and start making breads, scones and muffins! Their starter is really really nice! Everyone who works there is almost as sweet as the cookies they sell, they're helpful and really nice to talk to. I didn't get a photo of the breads I bought, so I'll include a photo of my very first sourdough bread I ever made!

I needed a cold treat to cool me off after my hike. I did a quick Yelp and Google search to confirm I wasn't embarking on a nasty establishment. Both sites checked out with their high star ratings. Only 10 minutes from the state park, I was en route. Upon arriving, there was a long line for the drive-thru. It was already a scorcher outside, I just wasn't looking to be too much more in the heat bath; so I decided to wait in my vehicle in line to order. After 20 minutes of waiting, it was finally my turn. I ordered #54 (the most vegan snow cone with fruit and no cream/caramel); and a mangonada sorbet. After a few minutes, the sweets were out. Heaven on muthafu~~~ earth this place is delicious!! It hit the spot so hard that it placed me into a sweet tooth coma that I wanted to immediately sleep and not drive back to Houston. The amount of syrup saturates the ice. No dry spots. The mango sorbet has bits of mango with its sweetness. Each time I pass through Luling whether that's coming or going; I make sure to stop here! Ive ordered the coconut sorbet without cream or caramel, but with nuts and it's so divine. I tried the mangonada, the best I've ever had. I've brought Sneakers and they gave him a free small cup of ice with cream. He gobbled that right up! I've even brought my parents and they loved it! Daya's is locally owned and family operated; you can't go wrong! Every person who works here has been very kind and always get my orders right. They also have ZERO options for people conscious of the ingredient lists. We bought popcorn and the bag was open at the bottom. I opted the top and it was super stale. I realized it was open on the bottom and the store game me a hard time about exchanging it. It's pretty clear the sealing process failed for this bag. We won't be shopping here anymore, nor will we eat their food. But if you're visiting Texas and come across one, it's a fun stop to pass time.
